Yes,
something like that can take weeks, sometimes even months. She needs
lots of time,” the doctor agreed with him. Several Emkos had been
visiting his in his spacecraft. They were waiting on him and talking
to him about their ways. He got the idea that if the masters on this
planet liked him that he could live here permanently. The Emko could
teach him and he could do well, being a good doctor and still living
a relaxed life.

I
would like to listen to her heart. Sit her up so I may, please.”
The doctor looked at Zufu to help him.

No,
I'll help you.” He lifted his Amber gently into his arms.

The
girl wasn't even conscience. When he moved her she looked like a rag
doll even though he was being so careful. He hoped that she would
live. He had the Emko catch one of the wetu so he could test its
poison, discovering that they were the most poisonous creatures still
alive in the universe. They were a danger to everyone on the planet.

The
doctor looked her back over. He felt along her arms and ribs. She
needs to be moving around more, her muscles are very tight. “She
will need massages, often.”

Both
Rokai and Zufu nodded.

The
doctor had Rokai move her so he could check the other side. He
checked her neck muscles and found them to be in need of attention.

Rokai
went right to work.

The
doctor checked her legs and feet.

Her
foot is rapidly getting better. She is very lucky that the Emko were
there and knew what to do. My research has shown that just removing
to foot wouldn't help cure her. The poison is in her blood. Only she
can get the poison out of her body with fever. Has she been
drinking?”

No,
she isn't awake to drink.”

The
doctor wasn't sure what to do about that. “She needs to be
drinking. If she wakes up she should drink something right away. She
may have to throw up. She probably will. I will leave medicine for
her. She will be in a lot of pain then. Call me. If she doesn't wake
up soon – I need to know if she wakes up, even if she just wakes
up for a minute. Make sure she drinks something then. Have something
ready. She shouldn't be left alone at all. Someone should sit with
her.”

I'll
do that,” Rokai offered right away. She should see him first when
she woke up. She would see that he was taking care of her, no matter
what kind of stupid stuff she did. He still held her in his arms.
Maybe he should carry her around like he did on the spacecraft;
possibly she would even wake up for him then.

She
needs lots of rest. She shouldn't even stand up and sitting up only
with lots of help.” He looked over the girl. It would probably be a
miracle if she lived. The creature was just so poisonous. Perhaps it
would be better for her if she had died. He didn't like the thought
of her being in pain. “Call me as soon as she wakes up.” He left
them, hoping that he had sounded like her waking was a sure thing.
The woman had to live for him to get a secure position on this
planet.

Rokai
went to work trying to get Amber's sore muscles to relax. He started
with her right hand and worked his way up her arm, gently rubbing and
stroking.

Zufu
excused herself to get something to drink for Amber. She wanted to
get to know her mistress. Zufu thought that she was the most
beautiful human she had ever seen.

Rokai's
hands moved to Amber's neck once they were alone. He could feel how
tight the muscles were. They didn't have enough water in them. They
desperately needed to get fluids into her.

His
hands moved to her collarbone and then down to her breasts. She was
so beautiful. He let his hands roam over her softness, feeling the
fullness of her in his hands. They had never gotten the chance to
make love. If only he had stayed with her, and loved her instead of
leaving her alone. That was a mistake that he would never make again.

When
Zufu returned with several things for Amber to drink, Rokai told her
that Amber was never allowed alone again. Either he or she should be
with her always. He made it sound like Amber was a child that would
get hurt without protection.

Zufu
quickly agreed.

She
believed that it was only a matter of time until Amber woke up.
Zufu's greatest worry was that Amber wouldn't like her. She just
wasn't cut out to work in the fields, like the other Emkos. She was a
house Emko. Serving the mistress of the house was the greatest honor
that she could be given.

Rokai
had never had to take care of someone who was sick before. He wanted
to rise to the challenge. His Amber could have it so good with him,
if only – If only she lived.

He wanted
to talk to her and touch her and make love to her. He wanted to be
happy with her.

It
was getting late and Amber still hadn't woken up. Rokai felt that he
had gambled and lost. She hadn't had anything to drink in so long
that her lips were all dry and cracked.

The
doctor had stopped by several times, but she still didn't move. Not
even when she wet the bed. Zufu cleaned Amber up and changed the
bedding every time that happened. Amber didn't respond at all.

He
had begged the doctor to cut off her foot but the doctor had refused.
Zufu and Emil had both had to talk him out of doing it himself. Rokai
had been desperate.

Rokai
wouldn't let go of her hand at all anymore. He had a feeling that she
wasn't going to make it now. She had fought the poison so bravely,
but it was stronger than her.

Rokai
hummed to her. He was ready to let her go now. He hoped that she
would sleep through her passing and feel no pain as she went. Tears
were flowing down his cheeks.

I
have an idea, master. Something that we could at least try.” Zufu
had been massaging Amber's muscles constantly. She wanted her to live
so badly. This was her chance to love another human. If Amber died
and he found another slave, he would never seek her out. He would
think that she was bad luck.

What's
your idea?” There was no hope in his voice.

I
think you should take a small sip and instead of drinking the water,
you kiss her and give it to her.”

Rokai
felt his penis move at the intimate thought. He was picturing himself
hovering over her body giving her the thing she needed most, from his
body to hers, like a mother feeding her baby.

Just
the thought of feeding her that way made him feel alive. If he could
pass onto her his hope, as well as the much-needed liquid, than she
could pull through. He was grasping at straws, but it was better than
grabbing at nothing.

I
will leave nothing untried.” He picked up the cups, smelling the
contents. He chose one with a fruity taste. Taking the tiniest of
sips he swirled the liquid around in his mouth before he climbed onto
the bed and moved over her. Zufu tilted Amber's head back a little
and opened her lips. Rokai leaned in gently kissed her lower lip
before he slightly opened his mouth so the liquid could pass from his
mouth to hers.

Amber
moaned and swallowed. Her head moved slightly, looking for more.

It's
working,” Rokai proclaimed. He immediately took another mouthful
and continued to feed her thirst. He spent over an hour quenching her
until she fell into a deep sleep.

Rokai
then crawled into bed with her and moved her on top of him. This was
the only way he could sleep now. He was just as dependent on her as
she was on him.

Jamko
stormed into the house. He had a bone to pick with Rokai. He wanted
to know why he had to do all the work. It was him who dealt with the
diplomats and the attacks on the chocolate supply. The Emkos that he
had weren't listening to him. Most had run off to work for Rokai.
Jamko had to ask himself, what was Rokai offering them?

The
splendor of the entrance hall made him stop cold. Of course this
house would be better than his. Rokai had a woman, which he was
probably sleeping with right now and that was why Jamko had to do all
the work.

Rokai!”
he called out.

How
can I help you, Master Jamko?” An Emko appeared out of nowhere
making him jump like a fool.

I'm
here to see why Rokai isn't working.”

Master
Rokai has been working from home.”

He's
working on top of his slave is what you mean. Get him down here,
now,” he added as an afterthought. He wasn't about to wait for him
to finish with his slave.

Mistress
Amber has unfortunately been bitten by a wetu. He is nursing her back
to health.” I will inform him of your presence.”

Jamko
didn't care about the slave but if something dangerous was lurking
outside he wanted to know about it. “What is a wetu?”

An
animal that slithers on the ground. It has brown fur and especially
long teeth. It is the most poisonous creatures in the universe. We
caught one for the doctor. He has never seen anything like it.”

Jamko
nodded. It was clear what needed to be done. To make a profit they
needed work in the fields. They had to make those fields safe.

We
need to get together a hunting party. You say your kind has caught
one already? We need to get all the rest of them.” Jamko used a
tone that made others obey him. He just felt that this job needed to
be seen to immediately. The sooner it was started the sooner it would
be finished. He still had lots of work to do in his fields.

Yes,
Master Jamko. I'll inform Master Rokai and explain why we aren't
working with the plants. I am sure that he will be pleased with your
idea.”

Jamko
went out and gathered together a hunting party. The doctor also
agreed to join them. Before the starlight dimmed they had already
caught and killed twenty of them.

Jamko
was the type of man who never pushed things off to tomorrow. He got
things done the right way as quickly as he could. This was something
that he also expected from his worker. He thought of himself as being
hard but fair.

Jamko
was glad that he hadn't found a woman on Earth. He just didn't have
time for one. Getting the chocolate plantation started and working
decently was more important than a woman who could cause so much
trouble.

Besides,
he needed to provide a safe working environment for his workers.

He
wouldn't rest until this job was seen to properly.

Chapter 7 I'll Be Your Slave

Rokai
was informed when the last of the animals had been killed. He told
Amber's almost lifeless body that she would never have to worry about
those creatures ever again. When he thought about her in pain because
of the long teeth that had sunk into her foot, he squeezed Amber's
hand too hard.

Amber
tried to pull it away from him. She was crying. He let go and moved
her hair back. She was rolling around slightly, like she was trying
to fight off a terrible weight. She opened her eyes and looked at
him. The tears burnt as they rolled down her face. “What happened?”
she asked him. She suddenly felt so cold. She started to shiver.

You
were bitten by an animal,” he told her. He took her in his hand
again.

Really?
I don't remember that,” she said to herself but he had heard her.

He
rubbed her hand. “How do you feel?”

I
really don't feel good at all.”

Do
you have to be sick?”

She
cried again, and nodded.

Rokai
got out a bowl from under the bed that he was keeping ready for this.
He sat on the bed with her and held her hair back. He could feel the
shivering getting worse.

She
cried and then she finally threw up. It wasn't much but she was glad
to be rid of it. Stomach acid was still coming up. She could hear him
praising her. He wasn't mad at her because she had tried to run away
or because she was throwing up. She had expected that he would be.

Amber
could remember his watery kisses. Those kisses had brought her back
to life. She had thirsted for them, wanting more. They made her whole
body feel alive.

When
she was finished she leaned back into his chest. His heartbeat had
become the most important thing to her. He set the bowl aside and
kissed her head. He wrapped his arm around her waist.

Let's
get you cleaned up.” He reached back and took hold of a beautiful
green sponge. She could hear the water dripping out of it as he
squeezed it.

Someone
had to be holding the bowl? Amber had to wonder who was there. She
felt that someone was, someone whose touch was familiar to her.

Rokai
cleaned Amber's mouth and chin. He helped her wash her mouth out,
praising her the entire time.
