Writing lines is one form of this. The wife is given a line (or Scripture) to write a given number of times to help her remember a rule. For example, she might be required to write, “I will remember to get my medications refilled in a timely manner,” one thousand times before her husband gets home from work.
The old teenage standby, grounding, is also very common in CDD marriages. A misbehaving wife might find herself confined to her home until the housework is caught up. Or she might miss a party she was looking forward to because she spent far too much money on a dress to wear to it.
One of the most dreaded alternative punishments seems to be the taking away of computer privileges
Corner time
is one of the most common of alternative discipline, often used in conjunction with a punishment spanking where the wife is required to stand facing the corner with her bottom on display before, during, or after a spanking.
Alternative punishments are as varied as a husband’s imagination and are often just as effective as spanking in reining in an erring wife.
***Potentially dangerous alternative punishments such as
soaping
, enemas, butt plugs, etc. are not recommended.
Common Implements
THE HAND
A man needs to look no further than the end of his arm for a very effective spanking implement. If used correctly, a husband’s hand applied to his wife’s bare bottom can certainly provide sufficient punishment to make her very repentant indeed.
There are three ways a husband might use his hand: slightly cupped, stiff, or flexible. When the hand is slightly cupped, the “slap” is loud but the impact is minimized. It is probably very effective for young children, but not on a grown woman. When the hand is held stiff like a paddle it is more “thuddy” and thus more likely to cause bruising.
Of the three, the flexible option is probably the best choice as it provides the maximum sting without as much possibility of bruising. It is said to be less painful for the man’s hand as well. When using the hand in the flexible position, the husband should look at his hand as a strap with the snapping action coming from the wrist and most of the impact from the fingers.
A
hand spanking
is most effective on a bare bottom. Over clothing, a hand spanking would require more force to be effective, which could cause as much pain for the man’s hand as his wife’s bottom.
THE PADDLE/HAIRBRUSH
A paddle does not have to be large to be effective, and it certainly doesn’t have to be thick. One roughly the size of a man’s hand and ½ inch thick is sufficient to provide a memorable lesson to a recalcitrant wife. The HAIRBRUSH is included in this section, as well, since the flat back of a wooden hairbrush is little different than a small paddle
Paddles are thuddy and can easily cause bruising, so they should be used with care. Thicker paddles carry an even greater risk of severe bruising, and paddles with holes can raise blisters, so use with caution.
LEATHER STRAPS
Of course the most commonly used of these is a husband’s belt. Many women still carry the memories of being spanked with a belt as a child, so the “jingle” of the buckle coupled with the “swish” as it’s removed from the belt loops can run chills up her spine. The psychological aspects of a belt-spanking should not be underestimated as it adds considerably to the punishment experience. And since the belt is generally worn around her husband’s waist, it serves as a potent visual reminder to a wife to mind her conduct.
There are several ways to use a belt. It can be doubled, which increases the force of the impact. It can be held at the buckle end, increasing the length of the leather which in turn increases the speed and force of the belt’s end (but decreases the user’s control of the leather). The buckle can be held in the hand and a length of the leather wrapped around the hand, providing less thud and more control.
Our grandfather’s choice, the
razor strop
is probably more effective than a belt as it is heavier and easier to control, but it does not provide the psychological experience a belt does. The same goes for the
tawse
, which is a specially cured leather strap that has “tongues” on the end. These were historically used on Scottish school children and are said to be very painful.
Whatever leather strap is used, care should be taken. The longer the strap, the greater the
“wrap-around” effect
. Though it may not seem to a husband that he’s swinging the strap very hard, the end of the strap is traveling much faster than his arm and impacting at a sharper rate. Straps can cause bruising and can occasionally cut the skin if not used with care.
THE SWITCH
If any of you have ever experienced a “
switchin’
” you know these little implements are to be taken very seriously, indeed. There ain’t nothing like a
switch
being applied to your bare legs to have you jumping around, whooping and hollering like a madwoman, totally forgetting (or not caring) who or where or what you are.
Switches are, of course, no more than the end of a tree limb that has been stripped of its leaves and trimmed of any nodules or rough edges. Traditionally, birch, willow, and cedar switches are most common; however, any green limb will usually do. The advantages of the switch is that they are free for the cutting, readily available in most areas, and quiet, at least on the bottom end. They do tend to make loud noises come out of the mouth.
Switches are notorious for cutting into the flesh, so extreme caution should be used. The wrap around effect described above is multiplied numerous times with a switch. When using a switch, it is probably wise to aim the
end
of the implement where you want it to land rather than the middle part of the switch. That way you’re more cognizant of how fast that thing is traveling when it impacts with your sweetie’s behind.
THE CANE
I have never been punished with the traditional English implement, the cane (thankfully), but have learned from those who have that the experience is extremely unpleasant. Before you consider using this long, thin, often flexible implement, you should research its correct use as it is easy to cause heavy bruising and cutting.
WHIP
This one is like a switch on steroids, pardon the cliché. Like the cane, this implement can be dangerous. Please use extreme caution and research its safe use before using one.
OTHER IMPLEMENTS
Implements are widely varied and limited only by one’s imagination. One of my husband’s favorite implements is the wooden spoon, simply because it is quiet and readily available. Then he discovered the stinging quality of my silicone spatula and that became his new favorite.
(I really need to figure out a way to keep that man out of my kitchen.)
Growing up, we were often smacked with the rubber sole of our grandmother’s house slipper, which I can testify it is a very effective implement. My mother occasionally used a fly swatter on our behinds, which also served the purpose well.
Online, one can find rubber straps, whips, silicone paddles, polyurethane spanking thingys, the list goes on and on. Just be careful with whatever you use. Research its proper use and apply special caution the first time you try it out.
Common Spanking Positions
OVER THE KNEE
The most common position and the one you will see most often discussed is the “Over the Knee” position or “
OTK
” where the wife is placed across her husband’s lap, her head either hanging off one side or supported by a bed, couch, or other structure, her bottom front and center across his knees, and her legs hanging off the other side.
The advantages of this position are that the woman can be easily restrained with an arm around her waist, and even her legs can be pinned underneath her husband’s if necessary. Her bottom is easily accessible and he is relatively comfortable in his upright position. She is less able to clench the muscles in her bottom for the purpose of lessening the pain of the spanking in this position as long as her legs are made to stay below the level of her waist. Perhaps the greatest advantage of this position is that there is heavy bodily contact between the husband and the wife, which is often a great comfort to both parties.
The disadvantages are that it can sometimes be uncomfortable for the woman, especially if her head and upper body is not supported. It can cause difficulty breathing due to the pressure on her diaphragm and abdomen, and since she is facing downwards, her husband is not able to see her face to gauge the effectiveness of the spanking by her expressions.
This position is very conducive to spanking with a hand, paddle, hairbrush, slipper, or other similar small implement. It is not as conducive to spanking with a longer implement such as a strap, switch, cane, or whip since there may not be room for the husband to effectively swing the implement (though I have heard of very effective punishments being administered OTK with these implements).
LYING DOWN
In this position, the wife is made to lie facedown across the bed (or couch, etc.) with her hands above her head. The husband can either stand alongside the bed or sit next to her on the bed. In the standing position, he has plenty of leverage in which to swing a longer implement such as a switch or belt. Sitting alongside, he can easily restrain her by wrapping an arm around her upper body while facing her bottom. If he sits high enough, he might have enough leverage to use a longer implement.
The advantages of this position is that it is comfortable for both the husband and the wife (at least until the spanking begins). If the husband stands, he can usually peek at his wife’s face to gauge the effectiveness of the punishment. He has more leverage to administer a more severe spanking or one with a longer implement.
The disadvantages of this position are that the wife is readily able to clench her buttocks to lessen the pain of the spanking. Unless he sits, he is not able to restrain her so she might be more likely to turn over or otherwise interfere in her punishment. If he does not hold or restrain her in some way, there is no bodily contact between husband and wife, lessening the intimacy just a bit.
A variation of this is to have the wife lie across the sofa with her bottom elevated on the arm and her feet dangling off the edge. This often makes it more difficult to clench her muscles.
BENDING OVER
Nothing tests your self control like having to bend over for a punishment. Somehow presenting your bottom in such a position is almost worse than the punishment that follows.
Bending over a bed, a couch, a chair, or even just standing and holding one’s ankles puts a wife in prime position for spanking where she cannot easily clench the muscles in her buttocks, and depending on the position, the husband can usually see her facial expressions. He is usually standing, so this position works with the longer implements as well as the shorter ones.
The disadvantages can be that a husband might not be able to easily restrain her, and of course, it’s not as intimate as there is no bodily contact between the
spanker
and
spankee
.
STANDING
One position that truly tests the self control of the wife is the standing position, perhaps holding onto the bedpost or the back of a chair to remind her to keep her hands out of the way.
This is especially effective for longer implements which will often keep the wife dancing for the duration. The husband can usually see her facial expressions, at least part of the time, and he has plenty of leverage to swing.
The disadvantages are that she is able to clench her muscles, and often the tendency to prance about can cause her husband to miss his target, hitting a part of her body he didn’t mean to aim for. And again, there is no bodily contact (unless he is holding her by the hand, spanking her in that circle pattern we all remember from childhood).
