Cole looked down at her, seeing her expression, and his own features softened. "I know that, Natty. I've been more blessed than I've ever thought possible. Not only did you save my life,
but
you made it more than just livable. You made me want to live and not be afraid anymore. That's got to be more valuable than any substance on this earth."

             
Suddenly, they heard the sound of
Melly
and Dermott climbing back on the wagon.

             
"Where are you two going?" He asked the retreating couple.

             
"Back to the mine," Dermott stated confidently. "We're on our honeymoon, and we got lots more
diggin
' to do!" With that, he slapped the reins against the horse's backside and the little wagon took off.

             
"Maybe we should go help them," Natty said as she watched them turn around the copse of trees and disappear.

             
"
Naw
, I think they're having too much fun to have us along. Besides, we've got some more '
honeymoonin
' to do ourselves."

             
With that, Cole lifted his bride and carried her toward to the house. She let out a whoop as he ascended the stairs. "Come on, Mrs.
Remmington
, how about you and I do a little
prospectin
' of our own?"

             
Natty laughed, as he nudged the door open with his foot and stepped inside.

             
"I don't know, Cole. I hear it's mighty hard to find gold or silver in these hills."

             
"Not to worry," he told her when the screen door closed sharply behind them, "if you ask me, it's the searching that's the most fun."
