His warm tone was like heated honey circulating in her veins. Her fully aroused body had her urging him on. She moved her hips to take more of him in. “You feel so good,” she whispered.
Cad pushed further until gradually he filled her pussy. Holding his weight off her, he looked into her eyes. She clenched her inner walls around his cock and watched. A glowing spark lit his eyes, and he groaned.
After a moment he began the in-and-out rhythm. His wide cock rubbed the rippling walls of her pussy. Each forward stroke put the head of his cock against her womb. His hard, muscled body surrounded her, warm skin touched her every spot, and his smoldering fragrance of musk and man filled her lungs.
He quickened his pace and plunged in harder, taking her to new heights. She gave as much as she got. A wave of euphoria swept from her feet to her head. Her body tensed as her orgasm burst and whirled around in her mind and body. A lusty groan made her realize Cad had reached his peak at the same time.
Raising his head to look down at her, Cad said, “Wow, love.” He kissed her mouth and rolled off of her, but held her close to his side. Their heavy breathing and pounding hearts held them both silent for several minutes.
“I hope that reassured you how beautiful and perfect you are,” Cad said. “It only reaffirms my decision to marry you.”
“And yet you want me to marry you and Garth.”
“Many of the women around you have two husbands. You really never considered it for yourself?” Cad asked.
“Perhaps long ago. But once I fell for Nate I never thought about it again. I wouldn’t have wanted to share him.” Rae looked off in the distance. “I visualized myself marrying him and having a family. Threesomes are wonderful for some, but I never thought it would work for me.
“There isn’t any jealousy involved,” Cad said. “We both want you, and you’ve admitted you are attracted to me and Garth.”
“I may be attracted to Garth, but there are many questions in my head about him. He’s different from you. Well, it’s a moot point. I haven’t even decided to marry one of you much less both.”
But he’d planted the thought in her head, and she knew she’d have a hard time getting rid of the picture of him and Garth as her husbands. One of them would be temptation enough. She shivered at the thought of both being hers. Whether it was from fear or anticipation, she didn’t know.
“I can see we’ll have to give you time to accept the idea. Maybe I can explain from our perspective. Besides being cousins, Garth and I have been friends since we were born. Our birthdays are the same date. His mother and mine are sisters. We played together, worked together. We always planned to marry the same woman. The one we would recognize as our soul mate.”
“Me?” Rae asked.
“Yes.”
“I don’t know what to say.”
“Then don’t. Give yourself a chance to know us. Garth
is
very different from me in many ways and yet our differences work for us. I’m the calmer one with the cooler head. Many times I think more logically.
“He’s bolder, takes more risks, but he’s also shrewd and worldly, and very confident which you’ve described as arrogant.”
“It surprises me the two of you haven’t had arguments and gone your separate ways years ago.” Rae frowned, trying to picture the calm man in front of her being best friends with the demanding, arrogant Garth.
“No, we trust each other completely. We listen to each other.”
“Amazing.”
Cad grinned and nuzzled her neck. “You are amazing. I hate to leave, but I’m sure the others are getting impatient for my return. I’ll shower and dress, then call Sahale.”
Rae got up and pulled her clothes on. She’d shower later, in the cave Sahale had mentioned to her. He had told her how to get to the entrance. Then she’d think more about Cad and Garth. Not now while his sexy presence kept muddling her mind.
Cad started out the door as Shale returned in the truck. “Garth may find his way here. Don’t be surprised. Please give him a chance.” He ran his finger across her lower lip and desire flared inside her belly. “I’ll see you soon.” He walked out to the truck and waved as they took off.

Cad glanced at Sahale. “You look like you want to say something.”
“I do. She’s one of my favorite people. Don’t hurt her or you’ll have me and a number of others to deal with.”
“I’m glad she has so many protectors, but Garth and I plan to marry her and take over that job. We won’t hurt her.”
Sahale didn’t comment until he got to Nanna’s house. He turned to face Cad. “I’ll take that as a promise. Don’t break it.”
They got out and strolled into Nanna’s cabin to join the others. Mitch and Garth were ready to leave.
Nanna told each of them good-bye individually as they left the cabin. She sent Mitch and Sahale out first. Then she studied Cad and Garth.
“You want to reunite with our two tribes. You plan to marry Rae as the bridge between the three. Is that the only reason you desire her?”
“Your power of second sight did not give you the answer?” Garth asked.
Nanna smiled. “You are gifted with psychic powers. You keep your strong walls up all of the time. Still, I see the answer. When I brought her to mind, your scent increased and fire flashed in your eyes.”
She looked at Cad. “You, I don’t need to ask. Her scent is on you, and your body is relaxed. You want her for herself. But I am not certain if you”—she glanced at Garth—“want her sexually or for your true mate.”
Cad knew Garth was wrestling with the decision whether to answer her or not.
“I seldom explain myself,” Garth said. “But I respect you both for your age and your gifts. She is my soul mate, mine and Cad’s. We will claim her for our wife.”
“Give her time or you will be disappointed,” Nanna warned.
Garth and Cad nodded. They took long strides away from the woman who saw too much. In the helicopter, Garth glanced at Cad sitting beside him. Cad nodded twice. Garth smiled, but said nothing since the others would hear them.
Cad closed his eyes to visualize his time with Rae. When her wet, warm mouth had covered his cock, a streak of electric desire went straight to his brain and lit all his pleasure centers. He’d enjoyed exploring her skin, her lush curves, the feel of her full breasts. She’d tasted like ambrosia when he licked her pink folds and rubbed his tongue across her clit. Her scent of woman and arousal had piqued his hunger to the highest heights. He’d wanted to plunge hard inside her, but thank goodness he’d tempered his movements. Her pussy remained tight. His large cock would have hurt her if he’d done what his body was urging and taken her fast and hard right at the beginning.
He’d enjoyed exploring her body, kissing her to relax her muscles and get her pussy wetter. When he did fully fill her, he had the sensation of coming home. She was a part of him whether she wanted to admit it yet or not.
Cad opened his eyes as the helicopter slowed to land. Garth had been watching his face. Cad saw the questions in Garth’s eyes, but Cad shook his head. There was no way they could talk yet.
He breathed in deeply, remembering her scent. Cad was already anxious to be back inside her sweet pussy. He’d never have enough of her.
“Well?” They’d barely gotten inside their cabin when Garth faced Cad with his question.
“It took some encouraging to get her walls down again. It will take some time convincing her to marry us.”
“What do you mean?”
“We made love. She’s very responsive and couldn’t hide her feelings. Still, as soon as we were done her walls came back up. And apparently she’s never considered marrying two men. Plus she’s angry and a bit frightened by you. She gave a list of delightful adjectives to describe what she thought of you.” Cad grinned.
“I don’t suppose any of them were complimentary.”
“Not unless you like words such as overconfident and arrogant.”
Garth shrugged. “I’ll bring her around.”
“Not unless you drop the overpowering ‘I’m sure I’m right’ persona. She’s stubborn. If she refuses us her brothers will stand by her side. We’ll not only lose her, but the reunion may be denied.”
“I hear you. My body had such a strong response to her that I just want to carry her off.”
“You’d better control your animal side. She’ll need to be completely in love before we share that secret with her. Even then it may frighten her off.”
Garth prowled around the room. “I want to shape-shift and run.”
“You can’t do that here,” Cad warned.
“I know. What’s next on the agenda?”
“Dinner tonight at the leaders’ house and a meeting in their protected conference room downstairs. Stanton and Connor want just the two of us and the two of them.”
“What time?”
“Seven o’clock.”
“Let’s go for a walk and get a feel for the ranch. We’ll stop by and get Raoul and Aleron to go with us.”
“They’ll be watching.”
Garth nodded. “I’m sure they will, but we won’t do anything to arouse their suspicions. We need each other, so we have to build trust.”

Rae climbed the side of the mountain to the cave. Inside, the light was dim and the air cool. She removed her backpack and took out soap and a towel. A shower in the waterfall Sahale mentioned sounded like a wonderful idea. She spread her blanket at the opening and took off her clothes, dropping them on it.
The waterfall was in the inner room. A cascade of cold water made her shiver when she stepped in. Just what she needed to clear her head and bring her back to reality.
Cad’s lovemaking had shaken her to her core. Her body responded quickly and with deeper feelings than she’d experienced their first night together, or ever with Nate. She’d like to think it was because she hadn’t had a sexual encounter in a long time before Cad, but she didn’t really believe that. Plus, she still wondered about the dream she had of Garth making love to her. Her body was drawn to both of them, yet her mind had questions.
Rae suspected Cad might be right about her being his and Garth’s soul mate. Why them? Cad was all right, but there was something different about Garth. She sensed he was wilder, more dangerous, and not used to taking no for an answer.
She didn’t have to accept them. Why did she need two husbands? She didn’t. And yet she’d heard others of her tribe talking about their experiences when they met the right one. All of them eventually married and were very happy. She remembered how hard Justin fought not to love Morgan. Now there wasn’t a more devoted husband and father.
Stepping out of the water, Rae grabbed her towel and dried herself. Still cold, she dressed and wrapped her blanket around her. Outside the sunset streaked color across the mountains. The wild horses had settled in one of the caves. She’d better start back while there was light.
She’d put her foot on the third niche on the way down when a large bird flew right at her. She flung her hand up to scare it away, but the beak slashed across her arm.
“What the—” Rae looked around and saw the bird had flown toward the middle of the canyon. She quickly took two more steps and jumped to the ground. Now the black bird with the sharp beak headed toward her again. She ran fast toward the cabin. But she wasn’t going to make it. Gathering her blanket she waited until the bird was almost on her and swung around.
Whack.
The huge winged monster got tangled in the blanket momentarily. Rae ran to the edge and dropped the blanket and her attacker over the edge. Sprinting down the dirt path, she managed to get in the house and lock the door. She fell onto the couch. Her heart beat double time, and she trembled with fear. She’d never seen a bird like that. Where did it come from? Her arm was bleeding. From what she could tell, she’d need stitches.
In the bathroom, she cleaned the area and spread antibiotic cream on the cut. There were also bandages in the medicine cabinet. She tried to pull the edges together and fasten a makeshift dressing.
Her phone was in the bedroom. When she opened it she was glad to see the connection was strong. She punched in Mitch’s number.
“Hi, Rae. We miss you. We’re just sitting down to dinner.”
“Mitch, I’ve been hurt.” She tried to keep the shakiness out of her voice, but he picked up on it right away.
“How bad? And are you in the cabin?”
“I’m safe in the cabin for now. My arm was slashed by a huge black bird. He attacked me and came back for more. I was able to fight him off and get back here. The arm needs stitches though.”
“Daren’s going to the helicopter as soon as I hang up. I’ll send Jack with him. In case you need immediate care.”
“I’m not that bad. Just really frightened. Watch out for the bird. He has an enormous wingspan.”
“Don’t worry. Help is on the way.” Mitch clicked off his phone.
Rae kept the lights off and peeked out several windows. She couldn’t see the thing, but it would blend into the darkness. She felt it. Whatever it was, it was evil. She wrapped her arms around her body and lay on the couch.
“Hurry, Daren, and watch out,” she whispered to herself and the empty cabin.

Mitch told the ones at the table what had happened to Rae. Garth glanced across at Cad. They’d need to move faster with their agenda. Daren stood to leave.
“I’m going with you,” Garth said.
“Jack, one of our physicians, will be along. We won’t need any other help.”
“I insist. I’ll explain when we get back. There isn’t time now.”
Daren glanced at Mitch. “What do you think?”
“I can’t see any harm in taking him along.”
“Then let’s go.” Daren strode out of the dining room. Garth caught up with him easily.
“My night vision is excellent. I’ll see the thing before it can attack us. But we need to take guns along,” Garth said.
“I agree. There are some on the helicopter locked in a box. You’ll be an asset to have along.” Daren got in his truck, and Garth jumped in beside him. “Mitch will have contacted Jack. Luckily he’s at his cabin right down the road.”
Jack was waiting at the edge of his drive with a satchel in his hand. He got in the back, and Daren hit the gas.
