A type of late medieval drug-jar, made in Spain, with a particularly fine thin tin glaze over blue designs that draw heavily on contemporary forms of Arabic script. Albarello ware were traded and have been found in the Netherlands and Britain.

King of the Lombards, succeeding his father

Theologian born at York in

ad 735 and educated in the cathedral school. In ad 778, when master of the school, he was chosen by Charlemagne to found the Palace School at Aachen.
