This time, neither of
them looked back as they headed home.  There was no need.  They were taking
everything they needed with them.

EPILOGUE

It wasn’t until they all
reached the chopper and everyone had their turn hugging Cleo that Logan pulled
Lucas aside.

“I’m not going with you,”
he said quietly.

Lucas looked at him like
he might have suffered a head wound.  But before he spoke, Lucas seemed to
reconsider whatever he was going to say.  “The woman?”

“She’s mine,” Logan
growled, aware that his wolf was peeking out of his eyes.  Nothing he could do
about it.

After a pregnant pause,
Lucas finally nodded.  “I’ll have the pilot wait for your call at the fueling
station.”

“Could be some time.”

Lucas turned and watched
his daughter being hauled high into Demon’s arms while she laughed.  “However
long it takes, is how long it takes,” Lucas finally said.  “Some things are
worth it.  She probably has her own way off the island.  Call and the hawk will
take you wherever you need to go.”  He slapped a palm against Logan’s shoulder
and Logan nearly winced at the power behind the hands that dealt it.

“Appreciate it,” he
muttered, then looked back at his oldest friend.  “If I need Eli and his
computer . . .”

Before he could finish,
Lucas interrupted him.  “You need
anything
you know the number.”

Despite the wolf riding
him hard, Logan smiled at the overly belligerent words from his alpha.  “That I
do.”

Then, without another
word, he walked away.  By the time anyone but Lucas noticed, he had melted into
the trees and was gone.

When he was far enough
away, he hid his gear and clothes and shifted into his wolf form.

Then he went hunting.
