Prologue:
Catch Up

Sunday, March 15, 2013 9:45 AM

AFTER traveling on the road for about 2 and a
half hours, we stop in Beaumont to grab a bite to eat. We decide to
eat at McDonald's. This seemed to cheer us all up. Well, pretty
much anything would've cheered Sandy and me up after a miserable
16th birthday, one we soon wouldn't forget.

First, I find out my home is being ransacked
because of me, Destiny Phoenix. Then, I lose my parents in the
ensuing fight while finding a long lost brother. Later on I find
out that I'm angel born human with a twin named Faith, who turns
out to be my best friend Sandra Carpenter.

After that, I learn of an arranged marriage
between my parents and the Carpenters to, none other than, my very
own boyfriend, Chris Carpenter, himself. Later in the midst of it
all, we pledge ourselves to one another on holy ground, Autumn
First Methodist Church.

And before the day ends, my family is given a
new role in life as Paranormal Investigators for the government.
Oh, did I mention the numerous attempts on our lives? Good grief.
There's only so much a person can take in one day.

And now we are on our way to our first
official mission for the PIA. We are sent to investigate and solve
the mysterious, the weird, the wild, and freaky.

I have to walk the straight and narrow due to
strange dreams that I have been having over the last few hours of
children I know nothing about.

Shortly, we shall reach a small town in
Louisiana called Jasper Springs. There are reports of a wildly
bloodthirsty beast. I wonder how we’re going to deal with this
werewolf.

Well, I better get some rest before we
arrive. I have a feeling this is not going to be fun. Another day
running from God knows what.

We finish eating at the McDonald's in
Beaumont just off Highway 90 and, then, rest for a few as we cut
up, laughing, and having fun. After a few minutes, we leave and
head back out on the road.

On to Jasper Springs, Louisiana to find the
man-eating beast that's terrorizing the town.
Great.

Chapter
One: Jasper Springs, Louisiana

12:10 PM

HOURS
after leaving Beaumont, Texas we arrive in the small town
of Jasper Springs, Louisiana. This town is located right off of
Interstate 10. The first thing you see upon arrival is the local
Wal*Mart
.

We turn right off the highway and pull into
the parking lot of the Hilton, the only one in town. We get two
rooms. These rooms are small, but adequate.

Chris and I collapse on the bed after we
enter our room and throw the bags on the floor out of exhaustion. I
snuggle up to my hubby, still can't believe it, as my eye lids get
heavy.

I hear Brandon on the phone in the other room
as I fall asleep. Not more than ten minutes later, I hear this
awful buzz saw sound coming from Chris. Oh my God, how did I ever
sleep through this before?

I turn on the TV thinking that this will help
me relax and get some sleep. This does not help. His snoring is
keeping me awake. I was promised to this? Ugh.

I hear a light tapping at my room's door. Who
could it be?

"Des?" I hear through the door.

"Yeah," I groggily say as I get out of the
bed.

And not paying attention to where I am
walking, I am a klutz, I trip over my bag and fall onto the ground.
Wham! Thwap!

There just went my knee! My eyes, then, bug
out of my head as I want to scream bloody murder. I roll on the
ground for a moment or two holding onto my knee trying to bear the
pain.

"You okay," I hear Sandy say through the
door.

"No, my knee, I think it went out again," I
say through the pain. Yeah, that's right, again. I hurt this knee
in middle school playing volleyball. I landed wrong and my knee
blew. And it's done so today as well.

"Let me get, Brandon," Sandy says as I crawl
towards the door.

"Just hang on, I'm almost to the door." I say
as I make it over to the door.

I grab the door handle and get myself back up
on my feet as I hop on one leg while opening the door. Standing
before me are Brandon and Sandy. I awkwardly stand as I have one
foot flatfooted, while the other is bent and hurts to a point where
I can no longer put any pressure upon it.
Why me?

Chapter
Two: On Busted Knee

1:45 PM

THE PAIN is not subsiding at all. As Brandon
sets me down in a nearby chair, Sandy walks across the room over to
the bed. She smacks Chris in the back and he reels, arching his
back.

"Hello, Chrissy," Sandy says standing over
him as he looks cross at her.

"What the hell, Sands?" He asks vehemently.
"What was that for?"

"Had to wake you up, only way I knew how,"
she replies as I moan in pain. "Destiny blew out her knee
again."

"Damn," Chris says as I hold my knee wincing
at the horrible pain. He reaches down to the floor for his shirt
and picks it up off the floor.

Brandon turns towards Chris, "get your butt
out of bed, man. Come take care of your wife."

Groggily he climbs out of bed. I know how he
feels being tired, but I am in a lot of pain. Why me? Hurry to me,
baby. Hurry.

Chris, then, lumbers over to me as Michelle
strolls into the room. She is rubbing her eyes.

"What's going on?" She asks as she yawns
while stretching her arms. I can see that Michelle is still
exhausted from yesterday's events as we all still are.

"Go get dressed, Miki," I hear Sandy say to
little Michelle. "We need to take Destiny to the Emergency
Room."

Make Faith activate her powers, honey.
I hear in my head. It's my mom's voice.

Alright, mom, but how?

She just needs to touch the knee. She is a
healer and a cleanser.

Interesting.

I look over at Sandy. "Sandy, come here,
please."

Sandy walks over to me and kneels down. Her
brunette curls bob.

"Yes, Des, what do you need?"

"Put your hand on my left knee."

"Why?" She asks me with a very confused look
on her face.

"You'll see." I tell her
semi-confidently.

She does as I ask and a lay my hands a top
hers. Sandy sees her hand beginning to glow brilliantly blue. A
look of awe and wonder comes across her face as she feels the
exchange of energy that begins healing my knee.

My mother imparted gifts on both of her
daughters, her healing abilities with Faith and her fighting skills
and fiery abilities with me.

After a few moments, Michelle returns dressed
in a denim jumper with a light blue tee shirt underneath and her
sandy blonde hair in pigtails.

"How are you doing, Destiny?" Michelle asks
as she walks towards me.

"Doing better, Michelle," I respond as we
hug. "Sandy helped a lot."

"What do you mean?" She asks me with a
confused look on her face.

"I found out that our dear sister here," I
say as I point towards Sandy, "is a healer, a cleanser."

"So, she healed your knee?"

"Yes, I did, Miki. Yes, I did." Sandra
answers with a proud look on her face.

Chapter
Three: The Meet with Remy

2:45 PM

WE STROLL into a nearby restaurant called
Jean-Luc's Creole Grill not far from our hotel. We are supposed to
meet out contact, Remy Boudrot, here. None of has any idea what he
looks like.

We are seated at a table near the front
window by a rather frumpy waitress named Leora. Her hair is a mess
of fraying brown curls. She stands about five foot, three and her
skin looks severely weathered.

As we are seated a young gentleman of about
twenty-six to twenty-seven years of age walks towards our table. A
chill goes up my spine. There is something off about this guy. Way
off.

The gentleman, who is wearing a light grey
tee and jeans with dark shoulder length hair, introduces himself.
He is Remy Boudrot or so he says.

"May I sit?" He politely asks.

"Go ahead," Brandon replies.

"Harold called after you accepted the
mission," he starts to say, "And boy am I glad to have some help.
This is not an easy case."

"What do you mean?" I curiously ask as I
immediately get the feeling that I really don't want to know.

"Well, you know that there is a blood thirsty
monster on the loose here."

"Hadn't heard that," Brandon sarcastically
says using a verbal jab at Remy.

"Ha,
ha,
Brandon," Remy retorts.
"Been awhile, mon ami."

"That it has, Remy. Now tells us more of your
blood thirsty monster."

"What's strange about this monster is that he
has patches of green fur."

"Green fur? You sure?"

"Positive, mon chere," he says flirting with
me. My right knee begins throbbing again. I wince. Remy notices.
"Everything okay?"

"I'll be fine," I manage to mutter through
gritted teeth. "Old injury."

I look at Sandra with a sad look on my face.
Sandra returns my expression with shrugged shoulders and a look of
mild sorrow on her face.

"I see, chere."

"So, when was the last time this monster was
seen?" Brandon asks afraid of the answer.

"About a week ago," Remy replies as he runs
his fingers through his hair. I see Sandy and Michelle swoon. I
probably would have too if I wasn't married. "During the night not
too far from here."

As I listen to this I realize that more
sleepless nights were headed our way.
Great
.

Chapter
Four: The Joke

4:02 PM

AFTER we ate lunch, we all came back to the
hotel to relax. Chris and I, finally, got a chance to spend some
much needed time together, or so we thought. As we are kissing and
caressing one another, Sandy begins banging on our door.
