“Aunt Sandy, we’re going home now.” Sandy glanced down to see Marina’s son Danny tugging on her hand.

“Oh and you came over to give me one of your special hugs.” Sandy crouched so Danny could give her a hug. She loved kids, and had come to care deeply for James and Marina’s two little boys.

“I have a special hug for you, too.” Mason wrapped his arms around her neck and kissed her cheek.

“Well I’m the luckiest girl in the world to get a hug and kiss from such handsome young men.” Sandy smiled.

“Uncle Ian, you give her a hug and she’ll be real lucky then.” Sandy froze and her eyes traveled up the tall figure standing behind the boys.

“I don’t think mine are as lucky as you two,” Ian said meeting her gaze.

“I’m sure Uncle Ian needs to keep his hugs for other people.” Sandy stood slowly and ruffled the boys’ heads.

“I’m sure Uncle Ian has one he can give to Aunt Sandy. Right boys?” Stephanie said from behind her. She’d never wanted to smack her best friend so hard as she did at that moment. Then before she knew what was happening, she was being dragged by two determined boys.

“Hug her,” Mason demanded and Ian looked down at his nephew. Sandy’s heart was pounding in her chest and she wanted to run, but the boys had both of her hands. “Go on,” Mason insisted.

Ian wrapped his arms around her waist and she held her breath because if she got a whiff of him she’d melt. He pulled her against him and hugged her tightly. Sandy closed her eyes and she tried not to melt into him but as if they had a mind of their own, her arms wrapped around his neck.

“I’m sorry.” He whispered into her ear and then he kissed her temple before he stepped back. “Let’s go, boys.” He bent and lifted both boys into his arms and with a soft smile he walked away with the two little boys waving frantically.

“Go after him.” Kristy nudged her.

Sandy stared after them for a few minutes and then turned and ran as fast as she could in the opposite direction. She wasn’t going to let him break her heart again. She’d had enough heartbreak in her life and Ian O’Connor wasn’t going to add to it.

About the Author

What does someone say to describe themselves? You could start with giving what others say about you. Scratch that. It doesn't really matter what others think about you. It matters what you think of yourself. So here we go.

First of all, I'm a wife and mother. I'm also a grandmother. That alone would fulfil any woman's life and to be honest it does. But...

I'm also a writer. Someone who loves to tell stories of love, suspense, heartache and of course happily ever after. For most of my life, I've written those stories for myself. A type of therapy, I suppose. I love the characters I create. They become part of who I am because there's part of me in them.

So... Now that you know this about me. I hope when you read my books, you fall in love with them.

You should also know that I'm a Newfoundlander. What is that you ask? Well we're a proud people who live on an island, off the east coast of Canada. Some people believe Canada ends with Nova Scotia. It doesn't. If you keep going east, there is a beautiful island full of amazing people and magnificent scenery. That is where my stories are set because let’s face it. The best stories always come from the places you know and love.
