“Yes, she did,” Keisha added having laughed herself to tears.
After recovering from laughter, Li’l Boo held Keisha’s hand. “That’s when I fell in love with you. You made me wanna change and I did it so that I could stay in your life - even if I just had to be your friend. All I knew was I wanted to be there with you and Kessia permanently, and without knowing, I began to change. I started cutting all kind of bitches off,” he said honestly. “I knew we’d have our day and I wanted to be the man that you needed when we found each other again.” He looked Keisha deep in her beautiful brown eyes. “You can trust me, Keisha. I’m officially a one woman man. I’m team KC. I’m all you, baby, and I’ma prove it too. Just allow your heart to give me a chance,” Li’l Boo said sincerely.
Keisha nodded her head yes, tears streaming down her face. Her family and friends were quick to point out her screwed up life decisions and choices, and for once, it felt amazing to be reminded and praised for her goodness and greatest life accomplishments.
It felt even more amazing that Keisha had a man that recognized it and whom she had also inspired to be a better man, just for her.
Li’l Boo wiped Keisha’s eyes. “This is supposed to be a good moment, baby. What’s wrong, why you crying?”
“Nothing’s wrong, Li’l Boo, nothing at all. This moment is perfect.” Keisha smiled, holding Li’l Boo’s face, and then kissed his lips long and hard. “I’ve never loved, trusted, and needed you so much in my life, baby daddy, and after this is all over with, I’ma give you that woman that you fell in love with back.”
“You already gave her to me, baby mama, when you gave me your heart and accepted my marriage proposal.” Li’l Boo pulled a velvet ring box from underneath his pillow. He opened it up, revealing a ten-carat
princess cut black diamond engagement ring.
“Oh my God, it’s so beautiful!” Keisha couldn’t believe her eyes. She didn’t even know when Li’l Boo had the time to go out and purchase it. They had been together every minute of the day since her return.
“Just priceless,” Li’l Boo said, referring to Keisha’s heartfelt smile. He then took her hand and slid the ring on her finger. “My bitch for life.”
“For life,” Keisha replied, wooed by her extravagant engagement ring.
“Now let’s make love and go halves on another baby.” Li’l Boo began to caress Keisha’s body.
“I’m all in, my gangsta.” Keisha crawled on her knees into a doggy style position, admiring her bling. She looked back and purred, “Come get it, baby.”
__________
Early the next morning, Li’l Boo’s Smartphone repeatedly vibrated on the night stand and awoke him. As he reached for his phone, he looked back at Keisha, who had her mouth wide open snoring.
My bitch snore like a gotdamn grizzly bear.
He climbed out of bed to take his call in the bathroom.
“West.” Li’l Boo grabbed a fresh face towel to wash his face.
CK told him that Cameron’s mother had just gotten in from the hospital with her daughter and the baby. “That nigga Scrap made a run for it from the hospital under police supervision and po po on a manhunt for his ass. Shit all on the news, so the city pretty hot right now,” CK explained.
Li’l Boo nodded. “Fuck that nigga! He a dead man walking. They gon’ get him on the streets or in the pen. Nigga killed one of his homies too. Baby nuts is done.” Li’l Boo stepped out the bathroom. “Hit me when the streets settle down and tell ‘em to keep a close eye on the baby. We tryna get him after the funerals this weekend. We getting outta here for a while to see my little girl.”
“I got you, Phonk. I’ll be in contact,” CK said before the call was disconnected.
When Li’l Boo walked back into the bedroom, Keisha was sitting up in bed with her ear glued to her Smartphone. Gutty was informing her about everything that was taking place in Compton and Cameron’s latest update.
“Piru, this shit is wild,” was all Keisha could say, but inside she was rooting for Cameron to get away to safety somewhere far away. She knew Carter and his team wouldn’t have any mercy on him, his family, and his kids, and she didn’t wish that on him. She still cared for him and he was her still her son’s father. “Oh shit, my son!” Keisha shot from the bed. “He’s not safe with them!” She began to go into a frenzy.
Li’l Boo took Keisha’s phone from her hand and disconnected the call. Keisha stormed the floor, continuing to tell Li’l Boo that they had to get her son because he wasn’t safe.
“Li’l Mama, Compton is hot right now ain’t nobody gon’ be making no movement today. Po po all over the
Hub.
” Li’l Boo tried to ease Keisha’s mind.
But Keisha wasn’t hearing it. She wanted her baby, and that was final.
“I’ll call for a ride. Get dressed,” Li’l Boo told Keisha. It was the only thing that calmed her down.
Geared up from the feet up in dark clothing, only minutes away from Cameron’s mother’s house, Keisha tried to give Teresa one more chance to quietly hand her son over before she took him from her. Li’l Boo had a truckload of goons awaiting them on the street to rectify the situation with force if needed. After not being able to reach Teresa by cell, Keisha called her house phone. Tonya answered.
“This KC. Where yo’ mama at?”
“Bitch, who gave you this number and what you want with her?” Tonya spat. She was angered about her brother’s situation and had been crying off and on throughout the day.
Keisha sucked her teeth
. Now this bitch know she ain’t hard!
Keisha tried to remain civil. “Tonya, is your mother home?”
“Don’t call our fucking house no more, KC, or I’ma -”
“Or you gon’ what, bitch?” Keisha interrupted sternly. “Piru, you ain’t ready for me! Now put your mother on the gotdamn phone!”
“I guess my mother didn’t make herself clear to yo’ ass.”
“And it’s obvious that I didn’t make myself very clear either,” Keisha shot sarcastically before disconnecting the call. She didn’t have the time or patience to go back and forth with Tonya.
Fuck it, I gave them the benefit of the doubt first.
Keisha turned to Li’l Boo. “They not tryna hear me.”
“Well, let’s go make some noise, Li’l Mama.” Li’l Boo told CK pull in front of Teresa’s house.
Before Keisha opened the car door, Li’l Boo told Keisha that if she went inside the house then he was coming in with her. “I don’t give a fuck about going to jail! I got yo’ front and back…you hear me?”
“Thank you, baby, but I’m sure I can handle this on my own. I’ll chuck up the
deuce
if I need you.” Keisha kissed him on the cheek before she climbed out of the truck. Heading up the walkway, Keisha straight banged on the door like the police.
Tonya opened the door shock to see Keisha standing before her. “Oh shit!” Tonya quickly tried to close the door.
“Nah, bitch, open this muthafucka!” Keisha pushed her body into the door and forced her way inside, grabbing Tonya by the hair. Tonya yelled for her mother’s help. Keisha punched her in the face and then spat, “Tell her that too, bitch!”
Teresa rushed into the living room aiming a gun. She had been keeping one near her with everything that had been going on. “Let my daughter go and get out of my damn house!”
Still gripping Tonya by the hair, Keisha slowly backed up to the door,
dragging
Tonya by the hair, and spat, “So we using burners now, Teresa?” Keisha paused. “I don’t wanna bring no problems to your house, Teresa, but if you don’t give me my son, I will.” Keisha stared Teresa in her tear-stained eyes. “Now give me my son -”
“Or I’ll be forced to put one in you, Ms. Lady,” Li’l Boo completed Keisha’s sentence, having crept inside, aiming his pistol at Teresa.
When Keisha saw Li’l Boo’s face she smiled inside.
My nigga!
Then Keisha threw Tonya to the floor by her hair. “Now get your ass up and go get my son.”
Tonya scrambled from the floor and asked her mom what she wanted to do.
The very sight of Keisha made Teresa feel angry inside. “Get that little muthafucka outta here!” she snapped. “It’s been nothing but hell since he’s been here anyways.” She tossed her gun on the couch and then yelled after Tonya to hurry up.
Li’l Boo followed suit and lowered his gun.
Within seconds, Tonya came back into the living room carrying Keisha’s son. Keisha took him from her arms and started to the door.
Tonya called after her. “Keisha, can I give my nephew a kiss goodbye?” Her eyes began to water up.
Keisha could see the pain in Tonya’s eyes and let her guard down. Although she couldn’t stand Tonya, she was sure that she cared for her son a great deal and she appreciated her for participating in taking care of him when she was unable to. “I don’t have a problem with that, Tonya.” Keisha kissed her son and then passed him back to Tonya. In her heart, she knew it would be the last time she’d ever see him again.
Li’l Boo stepped outside the door, waiting for Keisha. He wasn’t sure how he felt about Keisha having a baby outside of him, but he was happy that she was happy.
After Tonya finished kissing Cameron Jr. and told him how much she loved him and was going to miss him, she turned to her mother Teresa and asked her if she wanted to kiss Cameron Jr. goodbye.
Teresa looked at Tonya like she was crazy and then spat, “Give Keisha her son so she can get the hell out of my house!”
Tonya passed Keisha her son back.
Keisha looked at Teresa with an evil eye before walking out the door. The words Teresa chose to use regarding her son caused her to battle with her emotions inside
. Do I curse this bitch out, or do I just walk away?
Keisha’s nostrils flared, but she chose to walk away. There were a lot of things she wanted to say to Teresa, like how sorry she was. Her lifestyle had impacted those around her drastically and she got it, she understood. So instead of inflicting any more pain, Keisha walked out the door quietly, cradling her son in her arms, grateful to have him alive and well.
__________
The next afternoon after the maids cleaned their penthouse suite, Keisha ordered up a refreshing spread of fresh fruit and deli sandwiches for the girls’ day she had planned with her mother Shanna and best friend Poo Baby. Niya’s head was in the books studying for a
medical exam. Bu
t Keisha was excited about spending the day with her loved ones and allowing them all the time to bond with her son.
Wrapped in a hotel robe, Keisha sat in a chair near the window overlooking the city, cooing to her beautiful son, mesmerized by his adoring eyes.
Mommy loves you
. She kissed Cameron Jr. on his sleeping face before putting him down for his nap. Gutty was scheduled to drop her mother off, and Poo Baby was due any minute and she needed to get dressed. Before putting her clothes on, Keisha notified the armed bodyguard guarding their room door of her expected guests. He was a highly-trained guard that Li’l Boo hired from his partner’s security company.
“Somebody has to protect my queen while I’m out making moves,” Li’l Boo told Keisha before leaving earlier that day.
As Keisha brushed her hair into the middle of her head to put it in a bun, there was a knock on her door.
“Where’s my baby girl?” Keisha heard her mother joyfully come through the door.
“I’m coming.” Keisha quickly finished fixing her bun and then happily ran to the door and swung it open. The two hadn’t seen each other in months and were equally
excited to see one another.
As usual, Keisha’s mother looked stunning.
“Mama!” Keisha hugged her mother tight.
“My baby!” Shanna cried.
After an intense moment of bonding, Keisha let her mother and Gutty inside and then took her mother inside the room where the baby was sleeping. Shanna immediately began to make a big fuss over him. “He’s so adorable, Keisha, and my God, he’s the spitting image of his father,” Shanna said.
When Keisha came back out of the room, Gutty was awaiting her at the bar area. “This spot is dope, Lady G.” He couldn’t help but wonder what Keisha had on under her robe. “Li’l Boo here?”
“No, he’s not here, he’s out handling business.” Keisha showed Gutty her engagement ring.
Gutty looked as if he was blinded. “Looks like some shit Jay Z would put on Beyonce’s finger. Li’l Boo went big.”
Keisha blushed. “He does make a big deal of the girl.”
“You ready for marriage, Lady G?” Gutty asked.
“I am,” Keisha sighed. “It’s just this shit with Cameron and Carter got me on edge.”
“Do you ever think about me and about the night we spent together, Lady G?” Gutty desperately wanted to know. “I think about you all the time, Piru.” He stepped closer to Keisha and slid his finger down the side of her face.
Taken aback by the question, Keisha was speechless.
Their sexual encounter was one she tried hard to remove from her mind whenever she talked to Gutty or saw him. He was her homeboy; it should have never happened.
Shanna approached, startling them. “He is just so darn darling, Keisha! Oh!” Shanna stopped in mid-sentence, unsure of what she had
walked in on.
O
h my God!
“What’s going on in here?” she asked, concerned. Keisha was just on the phone telling her how happy and in love she was with Li’l Boo and she just didn’t know what to make of the situation.
“Nothing.” Keisha took a few steps back. “We were just talking, Mom,” Keisha stuttered terribly.
Shanna looked at Gutty, displeased. “Well, hurry up, dear, I’d really like to catch up with you a bit before Poo Baby gets here.” She walked hesitantly toward the living area holding her grandson.
When Shanna disappeared, Keisha fixed her robe shaking her head disappointedly. She looked at Gutty. “That night was just that: a thing of the past. I told you that in Atlanta.”
“The situation and timing was different then, Lady G -”
“And it’s even more different now, Gutty. I am in love with Li’l Boo.” Keisha put her hand up, to reveal her ring. “I’m happy, and I don’t take the disrespect lightly that you’re showing my fiancé in our hotel room at all.”
“Lady G, let’s not go getting all melodramatic or take it that way. A nigga got major respect for Li’l Boo. He a real nigga. But my loyalty lies with you first. You’re my homegirl. And after what we shared, I just had to know before you got married. You said our night was just a thing of the past and I get it now and I’ll never bring it up again. No pun intended.” Gutty passed Keisha the bottle of
Xanax bars she had asked him to cop for her.
