I loved you. The only thing in question was the truth of our mating and even that wouldn‟t have

mattered. I wasn‟t letting you go to some other man.”

“I thought you‟d want your true mate regardless of the feelings between us.” She ran her

fingers trailed up his side and inward to free the buttons of his shirt because she wanted to touch

him. Once his chest was bare, she‟d move on to his pants, because she wasn‟t going to be

satisfied until she could touch all of him.

His mouth slanted over hers. Neither of them was able to speak for long moments. His

mouth lifted and trailed over her cheek just as she pushed his shirt over his shoulders. She didn‟t

care about the conversation now. They could get back to that later after she‟d reassured herself

that this wasn‟t another frustrating dream.

He struggled out of the rest of his clothes as he moved down her body. A trail of kisses

marked his path as he worked his way down her chest. His lips plucked at one hard nipple as his

hand slipped between her legs. Fingers danced over the slick petals and she arched. She didn‟t

need all this play. She needed her mate. It had been too long and she‟d worried too much for a

long tease. Her sharp nails sunk into his buttocks and her lengthened canines nipped at his

shoulder.

She ached to bite deep and mark her mate, but she wanted his cock deep inside her. He

drew in a deep breath and his eyes narrowed as he surged up her body. His arms looped under

her legs and his hard shaft drove fully into her. She lifted into his forceful strokes. Her body was

on fire.

“I couldn‟t let you disappear,” he groaned the words against her neck.

She felt the warm, moist puff of his breath and the slight sting of sharp teeth as they

scraped back and forth over her shoulder. Her neck arched and her breath rasped in her throat as

the building feeling surged closer to the edge. She needed to feel that bite. She ached for it.

He thrust hard against her and his mouth clamped onto her shoulder. She screamed as

pain and pleasure mixed and writhed over her body. She shook and held onto him almost

desperately until the sharp sensations began to fade enough to realize that he still moved inside

her. His face was tense and strained. She realized that he needed to feel her claim as much she

did his. Her mouth opened high on his chest and she bit.

His hips surged against hers. His shoulders shook as he finally found his release. A low

rumbling growl rolled against her neck and his arms came around her. He held her tight against

him for a long time.

At first, she thought he might have fallen asleep and she relaxed, more than ready to

follow. His head lifted and his palm cupped her cheek. She saw lingering pleasure in his eyes,

but there was something very sober and serious.

“The feeling was too intense. I would have found you and held on to you no matter what.

Like almost everyone, I wanted a mate, but I wasn‟t stupid enough to walk away from a feeling

that deep. If you weren‟t my mate, I would have lived very happily with you at my side. A mate

is only biology. What we have together, that‟s so much more.” Connal‟s fingers stroked along

her cheekbone and jaw. “I suspected and hoped that the emotional bonds meant that you were

my mate, but it wouldn‟t have made any difference.”

She felt tears welling in her eyes. He felt it too. There were still so many unknowns in

this new life she‟d chosen, but she‟d face them with him. Life with a clan was a scene that could

have been straight out of her nightmares not too long ago, but now she couldn‟t wait to get

started.

About the Author

Rebecca Airies has always loved to read. Futuristic, the classics, mystery or horror, the

genre doesn‟t matter as long as the stories capture her interest and take her on an adventure. She

soon discovered a love for writing and characters just waiting to tell their stories. Since that time, writing has become an obsession.

Rebecca lives in the heart of Texas. She loves the outdoors, growing things and working

on crafts when she‟s not lost in the worlds of her characters. Please feel free to write and tell her what you think; she‟d love to hear from you.
