She tried to sit up and failed, her flesh weakened by the long absence of her mind.
Lessis reached out a hand to her. Ribela noted that Lessis was shaking like a leaf.
"Is this real? Can I trust this?"
" 'Tis real girl."
"I can't move."
"You won't be able to for a while, an effect of being out of your body for so long."
"Thanks be… Oh, Lady, I was lost, I thought forever, never to see my home again, never to touch my child's face." Tears broke forth on her face. Lessis embraced her.
"It was all my fault."
"No, Lady, it was not. I did not want to let go! I wanted to stay in the skies, flying with the eagle's eyes."
"I know, child, but still I should have brought you out. It shows that you have the power. It is latent, but it is there."
"Hollein?"
"Is well, at the last word we had. He is with General Felix and they are actively driving the enemy back into the mountains. There has been much hard fighting but victory is at hand."
"May the Mother be thanked."
"May She be," said Ribela, who had joined them. They remained there, the girl's hands clasped with those of the witches and Lagdalen's tears ran freely.
