She would love them and he, with his enveloping protectiveness, would not fail to do so. She had no doubts about that.

“Sierra,” he whispered. “You’re a miracle!”

“Did you really think that would make a difference? Yes, I want children, but oh, Ian, I want you more!”

“Oh, God!” His arms crushed her to him. “Sierra, I love you so much!”

She believed him. It was in his eyes, in the shaking breathlessness of his voice, in the fierce possessiveness with which he was holding her. He kissed her again and again, whispering blurry, indistinguishable endearments, and free of her wariness and distrust now, she could at last whisper them back, say all the things she had always wanted to say to him and feel him tremble as he heard them. He was hers as much as she was his.

Will
you marry me?” he demanded, insistent, and she kissed him, half laughing, half crying.

“Do you even need to ask? Of course I will! Because I can’t give this up either, Ian.”

He leaned his forehead against hers to look deeply into her eyes. His were ablaze with tenderness and triumph.

“We belong together, Sierra. You see that now, don’t you?”

“Yes,” she agreed, stroking the planes of his face with loving fingertips. They were two halves of the same whole. Wade County might think them complete opposites—extrovert and introvert, privileged and underprivileged, Shifter and human. But at their centers they were the same. They matched. Perfectly. “Yes, I finally do.”

“God, Sierra!” he exclaimed. “I’m so happy, it hurts!”

“Oh, Ian, me too!”

His hands pushed her robe away, slid over her in slow, cherishing caresses. She thrust his bathrobe from his shoulders and ran her hands over him too. It was almost as if they were discovering each other for the first time, surrendering not only their bodies but their hearts as well, truly trusting each other.

He had always trusted her, she realized, seeing his eyes and the intensity and love in them that had always been there, but which she had been too afraid to recognize before. She was the one who had held back. He had never held back, had always given her everything that he was. The stab of pleasure that shot through her when his hands cupped her breasts and his tongue rasped over her nipples went all the way to her womb, seismic and profound. It was so different this time, a soul-deep connection, a far more fulfilling joy.

“I never thought we’d ever get to this point,” he murmured from the hollow between her breasts. “Never thought you’d care for me this way, that we’d be able to love
this
way…”

She knew just exactly what he meant. Every caress went deeper than the body and caught straight at the heart. All golden. All sweet, voluptuous sensuality, slow and rich as honey as he drew intricate patterns over her with his mouth and his hands, inciting her, inflaming her. All of it meaning so much more this time. Sure of each other now, a joining that was no longer just about the body but was a true merging of heart and spirit.

She twisted to run her tongue over him as well—the strong cord of his neck and the vulnerable notch at the base of his throat, his flat nipples, the taut drum of his stomach and the hollows of his pelvis, that delicious V-cut. She felt him thrill and shiver. They both murmured with delight, relishing each other’s responses, coiling around each other like snakes, friction building a rising spiral of exquisite sensation.

Her senses flew into their own personal overdrive. The world spun away. She was aware of nothing but him—the salty taste of his sweat-slick skin, the unique scent of him, the intense green of those eyes burning down at her, the sensual feel of the supple, powerful muscles of his body, his weight heavy and demanding upon her, the velvet and steel of his rigid cock rubbing imperatively against her pussy.

She was hopelessly wet, her sheath clenching and fluttering as he drew her closer and closer to that point of unbearable rapture. Every inch of her was on fire, electricity blazing along her every nerve. She was mewling and keening helplessly now, bit at his shoulder to silence herself, filling her mouth with his flesh.

He made a little satisfied sound, shifted his weight and thrust into her,
going all the way in and then just that little bit farther. Stretching her, filling her so completely that she didn’t know where he began and she ended. She cried out in delight and clenched fiercely upon him.

“Yes,” he groaned, “Yes,” as her sheath strangled his cock on every stroke and her heels dug into the mattress to raise her hips and meet the driving force of his body with her own.

She arched under him as he powered into her, her head flung back, her knees gripping his sides and her fingers digging into his back as he drove her higher and higher up that hill. Heard his raspy grunts of effort on each powerful stroke and her own guttural moans of delight. Then she was falling over the edge into the dazzling, golden gulf beyond, flying free.

“I love you,” she gasped, and felt him break apart in her arms at those words, felt the hot gush within her as he came. He had surrendered to her as completely as she had surrendered to him.

She saw his face, even more naked than his body, utterly open and vulnerable to her, saw that look in his eyes that said that she was the center of his universe, that to him she was amazing and beautiful and precious, that she was cherished, that she was loved. And that look sent her into meltdown, splintering into a million fragments of insupportable joy.

“Lust has its points,” she mumbled, surfacing slowly an eternity later. “I liked it a lot. But this is so much better!”

“You and your fixation on lust,” he muttered, heavy and limp upon her. “Insisting on nothing but sensation. And we could have had this all along!”

She bit his shoulder teasingly. “Well, fucking is fun too. I love fucking you.”

She felt him shake with laughter. He raised his head and looked down at her, his eyes alight with elation and amusement.

“And you never even hesitated on that word! Lost all your inhibitions at last, have you?”

“Oh, yeah.” Every fear, every hesitation, every inhibition had finally left her. “I’ve even thought of a few more not-so-vanilla variations.”

He laughed delightedly, his eyes shining. “Promises, promises.”

“And I’ll keep them, every one.”

He kissed her hard. “I’m gonna love being fucked by you, Sierra.”

They laughed helplessly, arms around each other, every uncertainty gone. The future stretched before them, all surety and pure joy.

“The next several decades,” Ian said, “are going to be such fun!”

“Decades, huh?” She brushed her lips over his. “Think this craving for each other will last that long, cat?”

“It’s a powerful hunger we have between us, Mouse. It’s not going to be satisfied easily or soon.”

“You’ve got a point,” she murmured, moving against him and feeling his instant response.

“And you know how much cats like to play with mice.”

“This mouse,” she purred, biting his shoulder, “has fangs, and just might teach you a thing or two.”

“Are you challenging me?” He rubbed himself against her and laughed as she caught her breath. “That’s the kind of competition I like.”

“And those battles are the kind neither of us can lose,” she whispered and pulled him down to her.

About the Author

I live in Canada, in a small town on the edge of one of the Great Lakes. It's a location that allows my guy and me to have the best of both worlds -- the country and the city. We can go sailing or riding or just lie on a white sand beach in summer, then have fun snowmobiling or cross-country skiing in winter, while the theaters, restaurants and nightlife of a big city are always just a short drive away.

I'm a readaholic. I'll read ads on the subway or the backs of cereal boxes if there's nothing else available. I read every genre and it doesn't matter if it's fiction or nonfiction. But romances, science fiction and fantasy have been my favorites ever since I discovered them at the age of eleven. So of course I combined them by writing paranormal stories.

I can't remember a time when I wasn't creating my own worlds in my head and scribbling down bits and pieces of them. Then I started writing fanfiction about vampire shows on tv. The fanfic sites are a great place to learn the essential elements of writing a story! I won several awards there and met a group of wonderful, articulate and supportive people. We still email each other and I love getting emails and comments from readers.
