Syn debated if he needed to tell his
Lieutenants that he was involved with one of Illustra’s
entertainers; although Furi did say he was quitting. Syn loved a
person with ambition and drive. Furi had removed himself from a bad
situation with his husband and instead of letting it destroy him,
he handled it with strength and worked hard to achieve something
for himself. Syn could respect a man like that all day long.
Furious was going to be a business owner.

Syn had to get this case solved, fast.
When he took this job, he didn’t think he would have to deal with
so many dead bodies.

Syn checked his watch again and huffed
when he noticed he’d been waiting for forty-five minutes. The
receptionist looked up from her persistent typing and gave him an
apologetic smile. He got up and went out into the hall to call
Furious. The beat officers had already called and told him there
was no activity all night. Syn had released a sigh of relief at the
call. He wouldn’t let Furious get hurt if he could help it. He made
a mental note to ask the Magistrate for a favor to get a temporary
restraining order for Furi’s husband.

His cell buzzed on his hip. Speaking
of ..."Hey you,” Syn spoke softly into the phone, his voice already
filled with lust from thinking about the man.

Hey yourself. How’s
everything going?” Furi’s deep, sexy voice was like melted butter
over a hot, fresh baked roll. So perfect.

It’s okay.” Syn released
a soft breath.

You sound tired,
Syn.”

Syn’s chest constricted at the concern
in Furi’s voice. Then of course, the sound of his name on the man’s
lips made him feel like he was important to him. “Yeah. I’m a
little tired, but it comes with the territory. Are you okay? Have
you heard anything?”

My lawyer said my ex
called his office threatening his life. Not mine, necessarily. I
guess he’s saving that for the grand finale.” Syn could hear the
nervousness in Furi’s voice.

I want you to get a
restraining order. I’m not concerned with your lawyer’s usual
procedure. I don’t want this guy anywhere near you.” Syn berated
himself for using that authoritative tone. Did he really have a
right to demand anything of Furi? He hardly knew him. They’d only
fooled around a bit. What if Furi was trying to get his ex's
attention by having him served? What if Furi wanted to give him
another chance, see if the guy had changed?

Hey you,” Furi threw back
at him. “I can hear your mind turning from here.

It’s nothing,” Syn
huffed.
You know what? Fuck it.
“Are you busy tonight?”

I’m working on my final
but after that I’m free.” Furi’s voice dropped to a low bass when
he asked, “Did you have something in mind, Syn?”

Syn looked down the hall to be sure no
one was coming before adjusting his rising cock, groaning into the
receiver.

Mmm, very nice. I already
know what’s on your mind. Good, cause it’s on mine too. Been
thinking about your cock in my mouth all fuckin’
morning.”

Furious,” Syn
growled.

I’m right here. Tell me
what you want, Syn.”

Syn hesitated. Furious
wasn’t messing with him. This was it, the real deal.
Damn. Am I ready to fuck a man?
Syn had watched gay porn, he knew the basics, but
that’s all he knew. Syn had only fucked women, but so help him, he
wanted nothing more than to fuck Furious until he yelled out in
that deep voice.

You’re making me wait too
long, Syn. Are we on the same page or not?” Furious’ voice was firm
and clipped, and it made Syn’s stomach drop and his cock
rise.

Yeah were on the same
page,” he whispered.

Good. Text me your
address.”

Syn stood in the middle of the hall
looking lost. His mouth was parted so he could take in a little
extra oxygen. He felt like he was suffocating. He wanted Furious
there with him right now. His long hair hanging down over his face,
staring him in the eyes. Pressing their foreheads together while
clutching his hips, forcing him to move. Dark eyes boring
into–

Syn!” Furi snapped,
causing Syn to jump and almost drop his phone.

Syn cleared his throat, “Yes, I’m
here.”

Text me the address,
now.”

Sergeant Sydney, your
warrant is ready,” came the voice from down the hall.

Syn looked back toward the
Magistrate’s office and saw the petite secretary standing there,
holding the warrant in her hand. Syn covered the receiver and
thanked her.

Furi, I’m texting you the
address now.”

Fine. I’ll be there at
eight.” Furi paused and Syn listened to the silence. “And
Syn.”

Yeah.”

Be ready.” Furi
disconnected their call.

Syn yanked at the growth
on top of his head.
Fuck. Am I ready?
Shit. I wasn’t ready with Rhodes, and he left.

Date Night’

Furious thought about asking Doug for
a ride to Syn’s after meeting with the property manager about
leasing their garage space, but decided to have him drop him off at
the pub. Furi was in the best mood he’d been in in months. He was
finally graduating from school, nine months of intense studying and
training was at last going to pay off. He wasn’t going to have to
work in someone else’s garage, making money for them. No, he would
have his own, well; joint owned shop, fulfilling the promise he’d
made to his father before he passed.

He also hadn’t heard a peep from his
soon-to-be-ex-husband. Maybe Patrick would just sign the papers and
let him get on with his life. Last, but certainly not least, he’d
met someone that he felt he could have a decent relationship with.
Furi knew that would take time, but he couldn’t ignore the way Syn
looked at him, begged for him, caressed him. He especially couldn’t
ignore that the man had a protective streak like nothing he’d ever
seen. No one had ever stood up for him or tried to protect him like
Syn, so he no longer feared that Syn would snap like Patrick
had.

Furi jogged across the street from the
pub after Doug’s headlights disappeared around the corner. He took
the elevator to Syn’s floor, looking down at his clothes to make
sure everything was perfect. He un-tucked his hair from behind his
ears as the rest flowed down between his shoulders. He stopped at
Syn’s apartment door and tapped a couple times. Furi had to admit
his stomach was flip-flopping. He hadn’t been on a first date in
years. But, more than that, he’d never dated a cop, he actually
avoided them. Although Furi had never been in any criminal trouble,
he’d always classified cops as homophobic assholes with badges that
they thought gave them permission to serve an ass whipping if they
felt like it. But he just knew Syn was different.

Furi’s last thought was cut off when
Syn opened his door looking delicious in tight blue jeans and a
simple white Polo shirt. A gold link chain hung around his neck,
matching perfectly the square-cut diamond in his right ear lobe.
Furi liked that the man was letting his hair grow out a bit. The
dark length on the top was sticking up wherever it wanted, it was
completely free of product and was just long enough to pull on. The
salt-and-pepper edges were tapered close, and his goatee was
trimmed in a thin, neat line. Furi loved that Syn had a little
premature gray, making him look distinguished and sexy as
fuck.

Hey you,” Syn said with a
slight smirk playing on his mouth, obviously liking the way Furi
was taking all of him in.

Hey yourself.” Furi
couldn’t keep the grin from his face. Syn moved to let him in. As
soon as Syn closed the door, Furi crowded him, walking Syn backward
until his back was against the door. “Hey,” he whispered again
inside Syn’s parted lips.

Furi took both of Syn’s hands, linked
their fingers together, and pressed them against the door. “You
smell good.” Furi’s lips ghosted against Syn’s cheek as he nudged
the side of Syn’s face, making him turn slightly so he could bury
his face in Syn’s neck. He felt Syn breathing faster while he
pushed against him, seeking out pleasure a little lower. Syn hissed
in his ear and Furi smiled.

Damn, you’re so
responsive. I love it.” Furi released their hands and Syn
immediately brought his up and buried them in Furi’s long locks.
“You like my hair a lot don’t you?”

Syn's groan was his answer as he
rocked his hips some more.

Answer me.” Furi nipped
Syn’s chin before licking away the sting.

Yes I do. It’s so soft
and smells so good.” Syn’s voice was rough and deep, Furi felt its
vibration against his neck. He put both his hands on Syn’s square
jaw and chastely pressed his own lips to his. Syn’s lips looked
firm, but were soft and sweet. The bottom was just a little plumper
than the top, absolutely perfect for sucking. Furi rubbed his lips
back and forth over Syn’s, teasing and playing to see what the man
would do. He felt victorious when Syn grunted and leaned forward to
deepen their connection. Furi pulled back slightly, making Syn
chase him.

Stop fucking teasing me,”
Syn growled.

I’m not. You want it.
Take it.” Furi bit Syn just under his jaw.

Syn’s grip tightened in
Furi’s hair as he held him still to claim his mouth. Furi opened
and let his detective control the kiss … for now. Their tongues
dueled almost violently, Furi matching Syn’s passion. He eased his
hands down to Syn’s tight ass and squeezed him through the
denim.
Fuck.
He
slowly massaged those round globes until Syn was thrusting his ass
back, clearly asking for more. Furi pulled out of the kiss, gulping
in air as he dipped to lick and nibble on Syn’s chin. One hand kept
massaging while his other hand traced the crease of Syn’s ass. The
groans and cries coming from his big, strong cop had Furi’s dick
growing even harder. “Goddamnit,” Furi hissed. “If we don’t stop,
we won’t make it to dinner.”

Huh,” Syn whispered as he
continued nuzzling his face in Furi’s hair.

Dinner. I’m
starving.”

Oh, I don’t know how to
cook,” Syn said against his ear.

Furi’s laugh was husky. “Okay. How
about we go out and grab a bite?” Furi let his hand dip down past
Syn’s ass, nudging his balls a bit before tracing back up his seam
again. “You have a preference?” Furi’s hand tightened on the back
of Syn’s neck while his other hand continued its exploration. He
brought his hand to the front and cupped Syn’s thick package,
squeezing until he heard a strained grunt and felt Syn’s hips jolt
forward. Furi smiled. “I asked you a question, Syn.”

Huh?” Syn was sucking on
Furi’s neck, making it difficult for him to concentrate,
too.

Furi popped Syn on his ass before
backing up. “Food.”

Oh yeah, um, um. I can’t
cook.” Furi smiled as Syn stumbled over his words, trying to get
his breathing under control.

You already said that,”
Furi said, turning to look around Syn’s spacious but fairly empty
apartment. There was a sectional sofa as well as a recliner in
front of a massive television in the living room. There were no
pictures or decorations anywhere. He saw an archway that led to a
decent sized kitchen, but that looked pretty bare as
well.

I haven’t been here
long,” Syn said, picking up on Furi’s thoughts. “I just ordered a
couch, and I have a few pictures coming soon, and I have a new
bed.”

Furi spun and watched Syn. He looked
so goddamn edible standing there all timid and unsure. “A new bed,
huh?”

Syn shrugged. “Just
saying.”

Well you’ll have to give
me the whole tour when we get back from dinner.” Furi smiled. Syn
nodded, and gathered his things off the shelf against the wall.
Furi watched him clip on his badge and tuck a gun in the small of
his back before pulling his shirt over it. “Do you always have to
carry a gun?”

No. I don’t
have
to. I feel naked
without it though,” Syn said, grabbing a jacket out the
closet.
