“Where’s home?” asked Grant.

“Home isn’t four walls of brick or wood, it’s wherever the three of you boys are.”

Ben pulled her out of the truck and into his arms. He spun her around, the rain pouring down over them, blurring her vision. What a crazy fool, but she loved him for it. “So is it decided, Grant?” he asked.

“Yeah. Let’s bring our woman home and show her how much we love her.” Grant brushed her damp locks from her forehead and kissed her temple. “And teach her never to doubt us again.”

She wondered if that meant more spankings. Kayla certainly hoped so. Being bad had its rewards on the Richmond Ranch with her cowboy triple team.

“But—”

“No buts, darlin’,” said Grant. “We’ve already discussed the brunt of it while following you down the highway. You and me are moving into the
Richmond
house so we can be a proper family. No more moving, no more doubts. We’ll take turns helping out Matthew until we can come up with something more permanent for him.”

“But, what about the seed? Your real families?”

Austin
dragged a hand through his hair, slicked back by the rain. His dark eyes focused on her, making her feel like the only woman in the world. “You are our real family and we want the world to know it starting tomorrow. And I have a feeling your brother will be able to convince the GE seed company to release us of our contract. He has a lot of weight in the seed and feed industry.”

“That he does.” Nobody messed with her brother when it came to business. He was calm and easygoing but could raise a lot of hell if he felt he was being swindled. She also knew he’d do anything to make her happy. If he couldn’t help fix the mess, he had the money to bail them out for at least the one season.

“I’m wetter than a drowned rat,” said Ben. “Shuffle on over.” They all squeezed in along the leather bench seat, and the door was slammed shut behind them, cutting off the deafening roar of rainfall.

“Why are you guys out here? Didn’t Clay tell you I’d be back before the end of the week?”

“He did, but he also tended to believe you may not be coming back at all,” said Grant. He leaned over, picked up the keys, and started the engine. The heaters began to blast warm air to ease her cold, clammy skin.

“Don’t believe everything Clay says. He often has ulterior motives. He’s been feeding Sepia and knows I’d never just abandon her and all my stuff. It’s been horrible not sleeping on my bed.”

“I don’t think we’ll all fit on that little mattress of yours, Kayla.” Ben stripped off his dripping-wet shirt, leaning over to wring it out over the slush mat. “It’s time to move up to the big-girl bed.”

She swallowed the frog in her throat. “And what if the three of you tire of me?”

Austin
put a finger to her lips and shook his head. “No more of that talk. We’re cowboys, and we play for keeps. Make no mistake about it—we’re taken, lock, stock, and barrel by one Miss Kayla Roberts. Nothing will change that.”

“I’m older than all three of you.” She felt as if the arrangement was already settled. It wouldn’t be hard for her to say good-bye to her apartment. Grant, Austin, and Ben each supported her love of art, her passions, and her desires. She’d only be kissing good-bye to lonely, unsatisfied nights alone.

But she still needed that verbal confirmation that they wanted her unconditionally, irrevocably. “Did you know our momma is older than our daddy?” said Ben. “And I’ve never seen a happier married couple in all my years. I think they were on to something.”

“We want
you
, Kayla. Exactly the way you are.” Grant pulled her up onto his lap and kissed her on the mouth. He was so warm, and she had the shivers.

“Look at her skin. It’s all gooseflesh. We best get her naked and wrap her up in the nice, soft emergency blankets you’ve got in the lockbox,” said
Austin
.

“I can think of a few ways to warm her up while we wait out this rain, too.” Ben winked at her, making her heart flutter.

They crowded her in the already too-small space, unbuttoning her pants and slipping her arms out of the damp, clinging fabric. She let them take control of her body, knowing the things they could do to make her forget their predicament. Just knowing they’d come in search of her was enough to erase all her stubborn insecurities. Her knights had come to the rescue. Not only did they save her from the storm but also gave her the gift of tomorrow. For once in her life, she looked forward to each new day.
