Cal was so close to human, so much
like a real man.

Jacob closed his eyes and swallowed
more of the long shaft between his lips, knowing Cal had been made
more by that lightning. An act of nature had given Jacob the
perfect lover.

After long moments of sucking, Cal
grasped the back of Jacob’s head. His body clenched, and he cried
out as he filled Jacob’s mouth with his spunk. Jacob swallowed all
he could, loving the sweeter taste of the cyborg’s jism. He milked
the cyborg’s cock for every last drop before Cal pulled him to his
feet.

You did well, Jacob,” Cal
said with a half-grin playing over his lips.

Jacob smiled, unsure why he was so
happy to have pleased a machine. He shook his head, confusion
filling him. “I need to call Declan.”

Cal’s grin faded, and he backed away
from Jacob. “Of course.”

Chapter Four

Are you sure he was
struck? I don’t see any damage to its circuitry. If it had been hit
with lightning, it would show it, Jacob.” Declan said, his gaze
centered on Cal’s control panel. “I don’t see one shot wire or
singed circuit.”

After the lightning, I
turned and saw him crumpled on the ground with smoke rising from
him.” Jacob pulled the charred t-shirt Cal had been wearing last
night from the trash bin and tossed it to Declan. “He was wearing
this when he was hit.”

Declan stretched the t-shirt out, and
his eyes grew large as he peered through the big, black hole.
“There’s no way.” He turned to Cal. “Pull up your
shirt.”

Cal obeyed, lifting and showing off a
perfect set of abs. “Jacob is correct. I was struck. I did a full
diagnostic upon reawakening and everything is in perfect working
order.”

Declan seemed to ignore Cal’s comment,
which irritated Jacob for some reason. Declan turned to talk to
Jacob, as if Cal wasn’t even in the room. “The CAL’s skin is
organic material, which can be destroyed by something like
lightning. If he’d been struck, his flesh would show it. The CAL
unit recycles the organic material, so it would heal, but not
overnight.”

I tell you, he was
struck,” Jacob said.

Declan’s eyebrow rose.
“When did
it
become a
he
? And when did he start calling you Jacob?”

Jacob felt heat flood his
face. “Cal’s—different now. He seems more
real
.”

This from the man who
complained CAL was too robotic last night?” Declan said with a
chuckle.

Like I said, he’s
different. Since he was struck by lightning, he’s now aggressive,
forceful even. He’s been giving me orders to obey.”

Declan stood up and tossed
the t-shirt back to Jacob as he walked to the front door. “I don’t
know what you think you saw, but CAL wasn’t hit. And it may be
acting differently because its programming is starting to acquire
enough information. That’s all. I’ve got to get back home. If you
see anything
really
weird, just call me.”

This
isn’t really weird?” Jacob asked.

No, your machine is
listening to you and evolving—as it is programmed to
do.”

Sure, thanks,” Jacob said
as he followed his friend to the door, closing and locking it when
Declan was gone. Jacob turned to put his back on the door, eyeing
Cal for a moment.

Your friend is
disrespectful to you,” Cal said.

And why do you think
that?” Jacob asked, curious.

Cal stood from his seat and stepped in
front of Jacob. “He was calling you a liar for all intents and
purposes. A true friend would consider your comments and reserve
judgment until more data could be collected.”

Jacob sighed as he listened to the
logic of a computer. Perhaps Declan was right after all and Jacob
was seeing things he wanted to see, not necessarily things that
were. Cyborgs didn’t turn human after a lightning strike. It was
more than likely exactly what Declan had said—Cal’s computer was
finally running properly.

Yet why did the thought of Cal not
being special make Jacob’s gut clench? Their morning sexcapades had
been incredible, exactly what Jacob wanted. There had seemed a
connection there. When Cal had asked to see Jacob’s face, it had
made him want to come on the spot. Cal had made a fantasy come to
reality, and Jacob wasn’t ready to release the possibilities of
more. And had there been a hint of anger in Cal’s tone just
now?

You know you were
positively struck by lightning? I didn’t see the strike. I only saw
you after.”

My brain stores the
visual data I see, similar to the memories you store in your mind.
The last thing I saw last night was the bolt of lightning hitting
me. If your
friend
had taken the time to hook my brain up to a screen, he
could’ve seen the event take place himself.”

Why didn’t you speak up
sooner?” Jacob asked. And the hint of sarcasm in Cal’s voice when
he’d said friend wasn’t lost on Jacob, either. “If you’d told him
that, he could’ve seen it.”

It would be inappropriate
for me to argue with him,” Cal replied.

Because?”

My programming does not
allow me to argue.” Cal lifted a hand to caress Jacob’s face. “I am
programmed to be a lover, not a fighter.”

Jacob trembled at the touch, need
rising within him. The simple stroke to his cheek had been enough
to make his cock start to swell and his heartbeat escalate. Cal’s
deep voice had rumbled through Jacob’s body. Wait—his deep voice?
“Your voice has changed. It’s not metallic and fake
sounding.”

Cal tilted his head for a second. “You
claimed to have not liked my voice, so I changed it.”

Why now? I mean, I like
it better, but why didn’t you change it sooner?”

Cal drew Jacob into his embrace and
lowered his head until his lips hovered just above Jacob’s. “Does
it matter?”

Jacob’s body heated. He could feel the
sweep of Cal’s breath over his face, the steady rhythm of Cal’s
lungs dragging in air almost melodic. Needing the kiss like he
needed oxygen, Jacob leaned up, nearly brushing his lips across
Cal’s. “No, it doesn’t. Just kiss me.”

Cal chuckled. “Is that all you
want?”

Jacob shuddered. “No, I want you to
fuck me.”

I believe one who masters
gives the orders to be obeyed.” Cal leaned in and kissed Jacob ever
so softly before lifting his head. “If I am your master, you must
follow my command. Undress me.”

Jacob’s hands trembled as he pulled
Cal’s t-shirt off. He dropped it to the floor before battling Cal’s
running pants, glad to have given the cyborg easy clothing to wear.
As Jacob pulled the waistband of the pants down, Cal’s cock popped
out and hit his face. Jacob glanced up at Cal, who wore an amused
expression. Cal stepped out of the pants and put his bare feet back
on the floor.

Now yours,” Cal
instructed.

Jacob slowly pulled his own clothing
off and dropped it on the pile of Cal’s. Soon enough, he stood nude
before the cyborg, unsure of what to do.

On your knees,
Jacob.”

Jacob stared at Cal for a moment,
shocked at the demand. He dropped to his knees and awaited further
instruction, his body quaking with need.

On your hands and knees,
crawl into the bedroom and return with your paddle or flogger of
choice. Pick it up with your teeth and bring it to me.”

Jacob felt his cock swell, the shaft
thickening and elongating. The throbbing member swayed between his
legs as he padded into the bedroom and to his closet. He grasped
the frayed end of a flogger with his teeth and returned to his
master. Jacob dropped the torture weapon at Cal’s feet.

Very good, Jacob. Now
turn around so I can see your beautiful ass.”

Jacob spun on his knees and lifted his
ass higher for Cal to view. He jerked as he felt the fringed end of
the flogger trailed over the still tender flesh of his ass. The
first swipe of the flogger caught him unaware, making him cry out
in pain. Pleasure slowly throbbed in the place pain
blossomed.

Do you want another?” Cal
asked lowly.

Yes. Please.”

Harder?”

Jacob’s body shook. “Yes.”

Cal slapped Jacob’s ass with the
flogger a little harder than the first time. “How was
that?”

Harder,
please.”

Cal gave another quick slap, the tips
of the flogger snapping as they struck Jacob’s bare skin. Jacob
cried out in pain, the stinging caress of the flogger too
much.

More, Cal. Give me
more.”

Cal swung the flogger, causing it to
slap Jacob’s ass repeatedly, the burn of pain bringing tears to
Jacob’s eyes. Jacob’s balls tightened as cum roiled in his sac.
Already he was close to coming, even though he’d been pushed to the
edge so many times that day. “Yes, yes!”

Jacob clenched his ass as another
heavy strike landed on his ass. The edges of the flogger trailed
along his balls, adding to the bite of pain. His body tensed, his
jaw tightened, just before cum shot from his cock and landed on the
hardwood floor.

He gulped in massive lungfuls of air,
trying to steady his heart and mind. Sweat glistened on his skin, a
fine sheen coating him. Jacob lay there, on his hands and knees,
his body and soul tender. He’d been flayed alive, pushed across
boundaries he’d erected to protect himself. Now he felt raw and
opened, and he wasn’t sure how to accept the massive wave of
emotion that flooded through him.

All the pain he’d burrowed deep inside
when Anthony had left him—when Anthony had made him feel unworthy
of love—came to the surface. Tears stung the back of his eyes as he
let the tide crash into him. A sob rose from his lips as he fell to
the floor.

Jacob was lifted into strong arms and
carried to his bed. He lay there, broken, and let everything out.
Cal drew him into his embrace as the cyborg lay beside him in the
bed, soothing him in his moment of need. When he was emptied and
dry, Cal slipped from the bed, returning with a warm cloth, which
he used to wash Jacob’s face and neck. Cal wiped Jacob’s abused
body gently, cleaning everything away. Once done, Cal slid back
into the bed and wrapped his warm body around Jacob.

Jacob wasn’t ready to think about the
care the cyborg had given him, or how it had been exactly what he’d
needed at that moment. He accepted it for what it was and thanked
his lucky stars Cal had been there to hold him.

Jacob stood on the train platform the
following morning, waiting to go to work. Work was the farthest
thing from his mind. Cal was all he could think about, and Jacob
hadn’t wanted to leave his cyborg, not after what had happened the
day before.

Cal acted more and more human with
each passing moment. If that was his programming finally coming up
to speed, so be it, but Jacob still thought there was more to it.
And if that lightning bolt had made Cal into the lover Jacob
needed, then so be it. Cal had ripped open barriers even Jacob
hadn’t realized were there and for the first time in a long while,
Jacob felt lighter, freer.

Jacob felt his cell buzzing in his
pocket. He pulled the phone out and peered into the screen.
“Answer.”

Declan’s face appeared on the other
side, a smile on his face. “Morning!”

Morning,
Declan.”

Hey, I ran the reports I
gathered from CAL’s data, and I found an anomaly. Remember I said
it was underproducing organic material? Well I wasn’t exactly
correct. This CAL unit is replicating organic material, and it
seems something kicked started it. Maybe it
was
struck by lightning and the
wound healed over quickly because of the regeneration.”

What are you
saying?”

The CAL unit is set up to
produce cells to take over when the older cells die. Your CAL is
self-replicating the cells himself, without producing any from the
computer system.”

And that means?” Jacob
asked, worry filling him. He didn’t want to lose Cal, not now that
he’d finally gotten what he wanted.

I’d like to take a look
at your CAL unit again and do a full diagnostic. This could be
huge, Jacob. If he’s replicating his own cells, he isn’t as
dependent on the computer system programming.”

You’re not going to take
him from me, are you?”

Declan frowned. “No, I won’t take him
from you. I just need to study him. If we can use him to create
more CALs like him, this will be a cyborg revolution.”

Jacob paused a moment. The thought
that his cyborg used to make more like Cal bothered him. “And what
if I say no?”

Declan frowned. “No? Why would you say
no to me screening him?”

He’s special. Unique. If
you find out what it is that makes him special and mass produce my
Cal, then he’s no longer special.”
