“Rachel okay?’ He enquired as Sammy stepped off the
curb. Her feet still felt ridiculously light, even after a fortnight of having
her cast off. She wiggled her toes in her boot and reveled in the freedom.
She nodded, “Yeah, she’s good. The kids are running
her riot, but she has her mum to help. So I think she’ll be okay.” Sammy left
out the part where Rachel cried and sobbed her apologies for the thousandth
time. Josh would no doubt gruffly nod and agree. The man was hopelessly
protective of her, a fact Sammy enjoyed. But Sam hated to see Rachel so
distressed.
She had gotten over the fact her father was the
father of Rachel’s youngest, and that her Dad had written her some letter admitting
to being the father. He had left Rachel and Charlie nothing in his will, so Rob
had gotten it into his head that if Sammy died, they would stand to get the lot
of her father’s fortune.
It just proved to Sam that her father had been
callous and cold. Sammy couldn’t understand that her friend had found her
grumpy, stern father attractive, but Rachel had, and Sammy figured there was no
point in dissecting that. The thought made her shudder in disgust.
Josh reached for her jacket and dragged her across
the small distance. He mashed his mouth to hers and Sammy flopped against him
willingly.
“Now, for the surprise.”
He mumbled and
Sammy smiled.
Josh was a man full of surprises, especially in the
bedroom. Sammy smiled secretly as she remembered the bike fantasy again. Her
core still pulsed with remembered bliss. “Does it have anything to do with the
bedroom?” she enquired and grinned when Josh groaned. She ran her hand down his
leather-covered front and stopped just shy of his belt.
“Sammy, you’re going to kill me. These leathers are
too tight for you to turn me on like this.”
Sammy grinned and pressed closer to him, teasing. She
had gotten really good at teasing.
Josh stilled her with his hand on her hips and ground
his cock into her. Sammy gasped and bit her bottom lip as arousal threaded
through her body. Josh growled, swore and placed her away as if she were far too
tempting to have so close.
Sammy liked being tempting. She also liked being
wanted. And Sammy knew she was. When he had moved into her small cottage the
weekend he came out of the hospital, Sammy had been thrilled. She loved to see
his things all over her little house. It was the part of life she had always
wanted.
Someone to have at her side, in her life.
A
person who knew her every dream, her wants—how she drank her coffee and how she
liked a hot bath. Sammy felt so lucky.
So utterly spoiled.
She could barely believe her luck. It was tempting to pinch herself, but if
that meant she would wake up form this perfect dream, then she’d rather not.
Josh put his helmet on, did his strap up and climbed
on his bike. Sammy followed suit and hopped up onto the pillion seat. She
missed her bike madly, but Josh had not given her a chance to pine for long. The
day her cast had been off, he had taken her out on his bike. Riding pillion
wasn’t the same as having her own bike, but at least she was on a bike, wrapped
around the man of her dreams.
She gripped his waist as he wound through traffic
with the honed skill of a long-time rider. Sammy held tight and reveled in
having his body so close.
When he pulled into a small mechanic’s garage, Sammy
frowned.
He drove to a stop and they both got off. Sammy
peeled her helmet from her head and frowned again when Josh grabbed her hand
and pulled her inside. The garage was small, and a little bit dark, the smell
of grease and fuel hitting her nose in a sort-of nice way. A tall, muscular man
rounded the corner, Sammy saw him grin before he shook Josh’s hand.
“Hi, Josh.”
“Hi, Dale.”
Josh
said and smiled at Sammy. “This is Sammy.”
Dale looked at her appreciatively. “Damn. I haven’t
seen leathers look that good in a while.”
Sammy blushed as Josh gruffly told Dale to fucking
back off. Sammy squeezed Josh’s hand and tried to send him a look that told him
to behave, but instead, she felt a smile tug at her lips. It didn’t matter what
he did, Sammy was weak for this man and his gruffness.
“It’s finished?” Josh asked and Dale nodded. He
turned around and led them inside.
When Sammy had taken only a
few steps, she stutter-stepped and gasped.
Her bike, her precious bike, stood looking brand new
at the back of the small garage workroom.
“Josh that’s my—” She gasped.
Josh nodded.
“New faring and new
mirrors, a few mechanical fixes, including the breaks.
But, yeah, it’s
yours, baby.”
Sammy was gobsmacked as she stared at her bike.
Tears welled heavily and she swiveled to hug Josh. He caught her up in his arms
and kissed her hard, his hands possessive as he held her against him. Sammy
opened her mouth and let his tongue swoop in. He tasted her hungrily, and they
didn’t stop until Dale cleared his throat loudly.
Sammy pulled back and smiled up at Josh. “Thank
you.”
Josh grinned.
“Anything for my woman.”
“I love you,” she said.
“I love you too. Like you wouldn’t fucking
believe.
”
“Oh, I believe.” And she did. For the first time
ever, Sammy Briars was the center of someone’s world. And it felt fantastic.
