Chapter 18

Troy

Son of a bitch my fucking head was pounding. I looked around the room and had no idea where the fuck I was. The only thing I could remember was the smoking hot blonde from last night who had legs for days and the sexiest body I had ever seen. She wouldn’t tell me her name, so I refused to tell her mine.

That didn’t stop us from having the most unbelievable sex of my life. I was definitely regretting not getting her name this morning. She had woken me up around four saying she was leaving, and I was too out of it to remember to ask her name again. I would have to ask King if he knew who she was. I had seen him talking to her earlier in the night; maybe she was one of the club girls that hung around.

I sat up, rolling my shoulders and ran my fingers through my hair. I looked around, trying to figure out whose room I was in, but I couldn’t tell. It was kind of bare other than a dresser and a desk.

I grabbed my pants, pulling them on sans underwear and looked around for my shirt. That’s when I saw the note on the bed.

Call Me

920-555-5309

I folded the note up and shoved it in my back pocket. That was one number I would definitely be calling back.

My shirt was laying balled up on the other side of the bed, and I reached down to grab it and shrugged it on over my head.

I peeked into the door to the right of the bed and saw it was a bathroom. Thank fucking god.

After I had taken a leak, I looked in the mirror and shook my head. I definitely looked like I had a good time last night. Although I might be paying for it later as I felt a headache coming on. I lost count of how many beers I had after fifteen.

I wetted down my hair, trying to tame it somewhat. My eyes were bloodshot, and I had a day worth of scruff on my face.

I rubbed my chin, deciding if I should shave when I got home. Seeing that it was getting to get cold out, maybe a beard wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Walking out of the bathroom, I looked around for my boots and socks and saw them tucked under the bed with my socks next to them. That was one thing I never misplaced, no matter how drunk I was. I always tucked my cowboy boots under the bed.

I slipped them on and opened the door, looking both ways. I guessed which way was back to the main room since I couldn’t remember how the hell I had gotten here.

I guessed right when I heard shouting and yelling getting louder as I walked. Turning the corner to the main room, I saw all the Devil’s Knights and Ethel, Meg, and Cyn.

“We need to fucking find her, King!” Gravel shouted, his hands clenched at his sides.

“We’re working on it, Gravel. We need to figure out when she was taken. It could have been last night for all we know.”

“I saw her around eleven thirty,” Meg said, standing next to King.

“She headed out the front door around midnight, but I saw her come back ten minutes later,” Turtle said, taking a sip of his coffee.

I had no idea what they were talking about. My hangover was starting to hit me, and I was tempted to knock Turtle out and steal his coffee, I was jonesing for it so bad.

“The note said they were going after everything important to Rigid. Why the hell would they take Marley?” Hammer asked.

“Because they are fucking idiots and grabbed the wrong god damn girl,” Rigid spit out. He had his arms wrapped around Cyn, rubbing her back.

I never had the chance to meet Marley last night, but from the sounds of it, the Assassins had kidnaped her. Son of a bitch. I looked at Gravel and saw the worry and hatred radiating off of him.

“Troy!” Meg yelled when she saw me hanging back, leaning against the wall.

“Yeah,” I croaked out, my voice apparently not awake yet.

“Did you see Marley last night after midnight?” Meg shot off at me.

“Ugh, I don’t even know who Marley is other than Gravel’s daughter, so, no,” I replied. Meg had told me all about Marley at work, and she sounded like a cool chick. I just had no idea what she looked like so I wasn’t really much of a help at the moment.

“I saw you fucking talking to her last night outside!” Meg yelled.

“What the hell are you talking about?” I asked. I had only spoke to one girl outside last night, and that was who I had ended up in bed with. Wait, did I fucking sleep with Gravel’s daughter. Son of a bitch.

“From the color draining from your face, I can tell you didn’t know she was Marley.”

“Ugh, she never told me her name,” I said, running my fingers through my hair.

“Well, when was the last time you saw her?” Gravel asked, advancing on me.

Oh shit. Shit, shit, shit. The one thing I did not want to do was to tell Gravel I had sex with his daughter last night.

I just stood there, racking my brain, trying to find a reason other than sex why I was with Marley till four am.

“Answer me, Cowboy!” Gravel shouted.

“Ugh, I think it was around four the last time I saw her,” I said, not making eye contact with Gravel. I looked at Meg, and her eyes were bugging out of her head. She knew exactly what was up. She always knew before everyone else.

“What the hell were you doing till four? I texted her around midnight and she told me she was heading home soon,” Gravel said, eyeing me up and down. I could tell he was putting the pieces together. Shit.

“Look,’ I said, holding my hands up. ‘I had no idea she was your daughter. If I had known, I wouldn’t have even talked to her.”

“Jesus Christ, Troy.” I heard Meg mumble under her breath.

“You spent the fucking night with my daughter?” Gravel roared.

Oh shit. Gravel lunged at me, and I dodged him, jumping to the left. Double shit. “I’m going to fucking kill you,” Gravel yelled, lunging at me again. I jumped behind the bar to my left, trying to put something between Gravel and me.

“Gravel!” I heard Ethel yell.

I looked over Gravel’s shoulder, seeing Ethel walking over to us and prayed to God she would be able to calm him the fuck down.

I knew for some reason Gravel didn’t like me, although I could never figure out why. “You’re in love with some other woman, and you think you can sleep with my daughter and use her?”

What the fuck was he talking about? I wasn’t even dating anyone right now. Fuck, I haven’t even ever been in love with anyone.

“Gravel, knock it off, you’re only making things worse,” Ethel said, reaching Gravel and grabbed his hand, trying to tug him away from me.

“You’re in love with someone, and you told Gravel, not me?” Meg asked, also wondering what the hell was going on.

“I’m not it love with anyone, I swear,” I said, holding my hands up in surrender.

“Don’t fucking try to fool me, boy. I know you got a thing for Meg!” Gravel bellowed.

I reared back, shocked. Was I in love with Meg? That would be a big fat negative.

Meg threw her head back laughing, cackling like an insane person. “You…think that… Troy is in…love with me?!” Meg said, in between bouts of laughter. She held onto King, trying not to fall over from laughing so hard. King held onto her, a smirk on his lips. He thought it was funny too.

“I think you got it all wrong, Gravel. I have zero feelings for Meg. She’s my friend.”

“I don’t believe it!” He yelled.

“Gravel, if you don’t calm down right now and focus on finding Marley, you are going to have a heart attack,” Ethel scolded him.

His eyes burned into me. I could tell he really wanted to beat the shit out of me. I planned on staying behind the bar till Gravel got ahold of his shit. I had booze back here; I’d be good for a while.

“Where did she tell you she was going when she left?” King asked me.

“Ugh, she woke me up and told me she was headed home. I asked her if she wanted me to give her a ride, and she said she had her car here.”

“Alright, we at least know what time they took her. Edge, pull up the security cameras from around three thirty,” King said to some guy I hadn’t met yet. He took off from the room and headed down the hall I had just come from.

“The note said they are going to contact us. Church in five minutes,” King called. Everyone dispersed, either heading down the hall or broke into smaller groups, talking.

Gravel was still standing on the other side of the bar, staring me down.

“I can’t believe you let this happen to her,” Gravel spat at me.

Really? It’s not like I had called the Assassins and told them to come take Marley.

“Gravel. Stop. This is no one’s fault. Go outside and cool off,” Ethel insisted, tugging on his arm and pulling him towards the door.

His eyes stayed glued on me, till the door shut behind them.

“I cannot believe you slept with Marley!” Meg whisper-shouted at me, as Cyn and she stood on the other side of the bar from me.

“I didn’t fucking know she was Marley. She wouldn’t tell me her name.” I said, running my fingers through my hair. I had watched the Assassins for three weeks when we were looking for asshat. King was right, they were a bunch of idiots, but they were dangerous. I had seen more than one time when they had beaten up one of their dealers on the street when they had fucked up.

“Oh, kinky,” Meg said, winking at me. ‘So what did you call her? Did you guys have code names?”

“Are you serious right now?” I asked.

“Sorry. Serious situations make me even sillier,” Meg said, ducking her head.

“Alright, let’s not start biting each other’s heads off. We need to help however we can finding Marley,” Cyn said, trying to be the voice of reason.

“Church!’ King bellowed. ‘You too Troy. You know the Assassins better than any of us,” he said, pointing at me before he disappeared down the hall.

Gravel walked in the door, his eyes shooting daggers at me as he walked past. I shook my head and headed down the hall, following him.

Wasn’t this some shit. I finally found a girl I could see myself with, and she ends up being the daughter of a guy who hates me and then gets kidnaped.

Son of a bitch.
