Chapter 40: Nazi

Graduation Day

It was finally my graduation day and I couldn’t have been happier. I was prepared to walk across the stage, then go to a family dinner to celebrate my baby’s birthday. This day right here was a long time coming but I was happy as hell that I made it, and I have Jinx to thank for it. It was funny because I pushed him away when I first met him because I was scared to get into a relationship with him, but Jinx nixed any fear that I had in the bud. He showed me that he was a true dude that meant everything that he said.

“I don’t know how many times I have to tell you about wearing these suits,” Jinx said, eyeing me while biting his lips. I was standing in the mirror smoothing out my suit; the only reason why I wore it was because I knew it was something that he loved to see me in.

“Happy Birthday Jinx!” I smiled “And don’t worry, daddy, you can take it off after our dinner.”

“Bring your ass on before I give you what your body is asking for and then you won’t be able to walk your sexy ass across that stage.” He grinned.

I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around his neck. “How did I end up so lucky?” I questioned, staring into his pretty eyes.

“I guess when my brother saw your sister at the supermarket and then when he walked into her office.”

“Wait, he met her at a supermarket?” Laci had never told me that story.

“Not so much met, Gunz saw her when she was walking out to her car and then had me look her up.”

“That nigga is such a stalker.” I laughed.

“His stalking found him love and it brought me to you, so I’m thankful.”

“Me too.” He leaned down to kiss me and I met him halfway. His hands roamed all over my suit and, for a second, I was ready to give myself to him.

“Nazi, you have to come on now before you’re late. Everyone is about to leave!” Laci yelled, walking into the room. “Oops, I’m sorry.” She laughed.

“Saved by the bell.”  I laughed too.

“Damn Laci, you’re such a cock blocker,” Jinx told her.

“I’m glad I blocked y’all because I would have to kill you if my sister missed the chance to walk across the stage.”

“I don’t know why Jiselle taught you that shit. Now she got you acting like you bust your gun on a daily.” Jinx laughed.

“I don’t bust it on a daily, only when someone steps out of line,” she said.

“Laci, what I tell you about all that gangster shit? Cut that shit out because you not about that life anymore,” Gunz said, coming into the room and grabbing Laci.

“You didn’t have to come in here blowing up my spot, damn; you fucking with my street cred.” I looked at my sister as if she bumped her head.

“Laci, you need to stop it; you know you never had street cred to begin with. Now, let’s go before I miss my chance to strut across that stage.”

Gunz grabbed Laci’s hand and Jinx grabbed mine. When we got outside, Gunz’s mother and father was waiting for us, along with Jiselle.

“Awww, look at the happy couples. Jiselle, when are you going to find you someone?” Rose asked.

“I’m too young to look for love; all I care about at this moment is my family and that money”

“Stop acting like you don’t have a thing for-”

“Nazi, if you want to make it to the graduation, I advise you to shut up,” Jiselle sassed, cussing me out.

Everyone looked at me and I just zipped my mouth shut. We all piled into the limo talking and laughing and just having a good time. It was crazy how before Laci was the only family I had, but in this short period of time, I gained a brother, I guess you could call Jiselle my sister, and two parents that I looked up to for trying to become better people to their children. We may have not been related by blood, but I was happy they were the people who would watch me cross the stage. More importantly, I was happy that I had these people in my life.

* * * *

After the commencement at Clark Atlanta, we all headed over to Capital Grille. We had our own little eating area, which was perfect because we were secluded.

“I know we are here to celebrate Nazi walking across the stage and Jinx’s birthday, but I have invited a major head of the crime world here today. They will be walking in within the next five minutes,” Stephan said.

“Pops, why would you think that shit was okay?” Jinx questioned. I put my hands on Jinx’s shoulders, trying to calm him down a bit.

“You got to be fucking kidding me. We are here to celebrate, not talk fucking business!” Gunz barked.

“I understand the two of you are angry but you will not talk to your father like that. This meeting was something that needed to happen anyway.”

Before anyone else could say anything, five men all dressed in black suits came into our dining space and sat at the table. They all looked at Stephan before one stood up and began talking.

“I know this isn’t polite and I would like to apologize for intruding on your family dinner, but this is a meeting that couldn’t wait. It has been brought to my attention that Laci Lewis killed Brett Ferragamo; is that correct?”

“Why does it matter who killed his bitch ass anyway?” Gunz asked, speaking up for Laci.

“It’s okay Gunz. Yes, I killed him,” she answered.

“I just want to say thank you for handling that. It was brought to our attention that Brett Ferragamo wasn’t as powerful as he led everyone to believe. He was using the little bit of resources that he had to steal money from our overseas accountants. Now, I know you’re wondering why it took us so long to figure it out. Our overseas accounts are set up for our children; we don’t touch them until our kids turn eighteen.

With all of that being said, the crime bosses of the underworld just want to say thank you for handling the problem. To show our gratitude, we have opened an overseas account in your name that has two million dollars in it. Everything you need to know has been written on this piece of paper.”

He slipped the piece of paper over to Laci, clapped his hands, then him and the other four guys that walked in left out. I sat there trying to figure out what the hell just happened. That was the freakiest shit I ever seen.

“I mean, I am the one that graduated with two degrees; they could’ve slipped me a milly or something,” I said.

“Right!” Jiselle agreed.

“Laci and Nazi, I just want to say that you have made your parents proud. Laci, you and your mother are one in the same. Both of you have sweet exteriors but your interiors are dangerous. Nazi, you are just like your father in so many ways. He was a tough one but his heart was bigger than anyone’s I knew. If I could be half the man your father was, then maybe my kids would have turned out differently.

Jiselle, Jinx, Gunz, I just want to say that I am sorry for how your mother and I raised you. If I could go back and change what we did, I would, because no one should be brought up on the principles of money, power, and respect. I may not be able to change the past but, from here on forward, your mother and I are working on being the parents that we should’ve been all along,” Stephan said.

“Stephan said just about everything I wanted to say; the only thing that he left out was how much we love you. To my kids, I love y’all more than you will ever know and I vow to show the three of you just how much. Laci and Nazi, I’m glad that my boys found the two of you because the both of you bring out the best in them. I love the both of you because the two of you gave my kids something I couldn’t give them. Both of my sons found out what true love was when they met the two of you. Just like Stephan said, your parents would be proud; you embodied their legacy in ways that the two of you couldn’t imagine,” Rose said.

I looked over at Laci and she shared the same tears I had in my eyes. All this talk about our parents was touching but what had me the most was the acceptance from Rose and Stephan.

“I’m going to try my best not to cry because y’all know I’m a thugette and shit,” Laci said, causing everyone in the room to laugh. “On a more serious note, I just want to say thank you to everyone in this room because each one of you played a part in shaping me into the woman that I am today. Nazi, you have always been my backbone and I couldn’t picture you being anything else. You taught me how to stand up for myself and be more assertive when it comes to certain things. Rose, that talk we had in the kitchen the first time we met helped me bring out my inner confidence. It was something about you telling me that I am exactly like my mother that helped me lift any doubt I had about myself. Jiselle, you being a bitch taught me how to handle females like you. I may not be able to beat you in a knife fight, but I think I would be able to beat that ass.”

“You can try if you want to; you don’t want to see me,” Jiselle said, laughing.

“Gunz, you came into my life at such an odd time but, the truth is, it was the perfect time. Neither one of us had a real family growing up, leaving both of us clueless when it came to love. You have taught me so much about love and so much about strength that I’m forever grateful for you. There is no Gunz without Laci and there is no Laci without Gunz. We are a unit and you don’t ever have to worry about me because I will forever hold the both of us down while you build us up. I love you more than anything and I can’t wait to embark on this new journey with you.” Laci leaned over, kissing Gunz deeply before wiping the tears from her eyes.

I had tears in my eyes at this moment because this room was filled with so much love.

“Since everyone is making speeches, I guess I should go next. First, let me say happy birthday to my little brother. Jinx, you are the man and I’m proud of the man you grew to be. You’re not like me nor pops and that’s something that I admire about you. You didn’t let money, power, and respect consume you. You found a way to incorporate something you love into your job. Nazi, I want to say congrats lil sis; you’re doing big things and I know you’re just getting started.” I smiled at Gunz because I really came around to look at him as a brother.

“Laci, ma, you already know the things you do to me so I’m not going to get too deep into things. What I will say is that you came into my life and had me wanting to switch things up for you. You showed me that there is more to life than just Black Rose Mafia, which is why I’m giving it up. You already know I’m giving it up so I guess this really isn’t something that I’m saying to you, but to everyone else at the table.”

“So, who’s going to run Black Rose Mafia?” Jiselle questioned before I could. Shit, this was something that I wanted to know to.

“Since you’re running Black Mafia, I figured Jinx could take over Black Rose Mafia. Jinx is a different breed and I feel like he could bring something new and different to the table. Technology is starting to take over and there is no better nerd than Jinx.”

“What I tell you about that nerd shit?” Jinx said laughing. “I would be honored to take over but I will only do it on one condition.”

“What’s that?” Gunz asked.

“I’ll be the head nigga in charge if Nazi will be my Queen at the top. We a team ma and whatever is mine is yours, so what you say? You rocking with your boy or what?”

“Hell yeah, I’m rocking with you until the wheels fall off.” I smiled, jumping up and kissing him.

Everyone broke out in smiles and cheers as Jinx and I sealed the deal with a kiss. I didn’t know much about running a criminal business but it wasn’t nothing for me to learn. We were about to be the next chapter of Black Rose Mafia and we were going to make it unforgettable.
