Chapter 38: Laci

As soon as Gunz went to bed, I went with him, but as soon as the sun came out, I jumped out of bed and rushed out the house. I took a set of Gunz’s keys and jumped in his car. My destination was Brett’s house. Pulling up, his car was in the driveway, but I sat outside for a couple of hours to make sure no one was coming or going. Just as I was getting out the car was when Gunz called. Gunz had a lot of nerve trying to talk me out of this when this is what he pushed me to do. Everyone kept thinking I was this poor little girl who couldn’t stick up for herself, but I planned on proving everyone wrong.

When I felt the coast was clear, I got out the car and casually walked to the door. After Jiselle picked the lock at Jinx’s house, I made sure she taught me how to pick all locks. Digging in my bag, I pulled out a tension wrench and put it into the bottom of the keyhole and applied a little pressure. I then put the pick in the top lock and scrubbed it back and forth. For a second, I was starting to get worried because the pin wouldn’t set, but after I heard the click noise, I let out a sigh of relief. I opened the door and the alarm quickly started to go off. I closed the door and dug in my bag for one of my knives. Once I found it, I leaned against the door with my hand behind my back.

A smile crept on my face as Brett came into view. He was huffing and puffing about the alarm system until he saw my face.

“Isn’t this a pleasant surprise, how did you get in here?” he questioned with a sneaky grin.

“I think you should turn off your alarm system before we begin to talk.” He walked over to the right of where I stood and typed in a couple of numbers and the beeping stopped.

“You know I would think a man with so much power would have his house guarded.”

“No need to guard a house when you can handle anything that comes your way,” he smirked, walking towards me.

“Uh huh, I wouldn’t take another step if I was you.”

“Why not?” he asked, taking a step further.

I swiftly removed my hand from behind my back and threw my knife at him. It was supposed to connect with his arm but instead, it fell short a couple of inches. Brett bent down, picked up the knife, and started moving closer to me.

“Who taught you that little nifty trick, Lacianne?” He was so close to me that I could taste his morning breath. My face cringed as he brought the knife up to my throat.

“Why does it matter who taught me?” I managed to say.

“So I know who to send a thank you card to for making my kill a whole lot easier.” He laughed. “You will do as I say or you will die a painful death.”

I nodded my head, letting him know I would cooperate. He kept the knife to my throat as he led me through his house. I know now wasn’t the time but I looked around, trying to get a feel for what type of man Brett was. My family or should I say Shirley and Dennis have known Brett all his life but this was the first time I ever been to his house. The way Brett acted with me wasn’t the same way he acted around Gunz. He wanted people to believe that he had all this power, but I doubt he had any at all.

“You know, Lacianne, I don’t want to kill you; I honestly just want to marry you. Deep down, I knew you weren’t behind what happened to my mouth,” he spat, pushing me up the stairs.

“Don’t be too sure; I’m not the same girl that I used to be,” I told him, easing my way up the stairs. I had to come up with a plan, so I could get back the upper hand. I was disappointed that I failed at throwing the knife, however I couldn’t dwell on that right now.

“How much could you have changed in five months?” He laughed, just as we got to the top of the stairs.

I dropped down, kicking my right foot up and hitting him in the chin. Just as I got up, he ended up swinging the knife while he was trying to catch his balance.

“AHH!” I yelled out from the slash on my arm.

“Oh shit!” Brett screamed, as he tumbled down the stairs.

The pain from my cut didn’t amount to the satisfaction I got from seeing Brett at the bottom of the stairs. I may not have been a great knife thrower but everything Jiselle taught me concerning combat I excelled in.

I walked down the stairs, kicking Brett in the head as he groaned out in pain. I looked down at him, not feeling an ounce of pity. I leaned down, pulling him closer to me by the collar of his shirt.

“I told you I’m not the same chick that you thought I was.” I smiled.

I snatched his ass up off the floor and dragged him into the living room. His head was slightly bleeding, so I knew I didn’t have to worry about him charging at me or anything. I sat him on the couch, then pulled another knife out of my bag. I stabbed him in the stomach and turned the knife, causing him to cringe in pain.

“You see Brett, coming over here, I had a whole bunch of different scenarios on how I was going to kill you. I thought about pulling out each of your teeth one by one and then cutting out your tongue. I even thought about cutting out your fingers, but you know what changed my mind?” I asked.

“I know you hear me talking to you.” I took the knife out, then stabbed him again.

“Okay, I hear you. What made you change your mind?” His breathing was heavy and he was barely able to get his words out.

“I changed my mind because you’re not worth the time or effort. You see, you are the last person on this earth that has doubted me or tried to play on my weakness. As you must already know, Shirley and Dennis are dead. I burnt they asses to a crisp; they got tortured in a sense, I guess you could say. But you don’t deserve all of that. All you deserve is to bleed to death. With that being said….”

I pulled the knife out and plunged it into his pancreas, turning it for good measures. I got up to walk away but that didn’t feel good enough for me. I felt like I took the sucker’s way out. Walking over to the stairs, I climbed them two at a time, rushing to pick up the knife. Holding the knife, I slowly walked over to where Brett was bleeding internally to death. I went to pry his mouth open and once it was, he tried to bite down on my fingers. I karate chopped him in the throat, causing him to cough in agony.  I pulled his tongue out and eased my knife across it. If he wasn’t dead before, he was definitely dead now because of the pain. I held his tongue in my hand with a sense of achievement. I grabbed everything I brought into this house and headed for the door. I had blood on my clothes, so I had to make it quick. I opened the door and came face to face with Gunz.

“Laci, what the fuck happened?” he asked, pushing me back into the house.

“I cut off his tongue.” I tossed him Brett’s tongue, then headed out the door. I ran over to the car and jumped in. I was sure Gunz was going to want to have a conversation but that was going to happen in the comfort of our home.

Chapter 39: Gunz

“I need you to come and clean up a mess for me right quick,” I said to Ransom.

“Cleaning up isn’t what I do,” he said.

“I don’t have time to be going back and forth with you. Just clean up for me, ight.”

“Ight nigga, calm your nipples damn. Who did this shit anyway?”

“Laci,” I sighed.

“You better never do that girl wrong because if you do, she going to fucking kill you and no one going to be able to find your ass,” Ransom joked.

“Yeah ight, Laci may be a lot of things but she’s not dumb. She knows who to play mask murderer with and who not to. When you clean it up, just hit my phone.”

“Ight man.”

I left out and jumped in my car, trying to prepare myself for the conversation I was about to have with Laci. When she ran out, I wanted to run behind her, but I needed to clean up this mess. I didn’t have time to wait for the cleanup crew and Ransom lived in the area, so I called him over. He wasn’t too happy about the shit but his ass was getting paid for it, so I didn’t see the point in him complaining and shit.

I was halfway home when I turned the radio on. I was too caught up in my thoughts and need something to ease my mind. Reaching into the glove compartment, I pulled out a blunt and lit that shit up when I came to a red light. I puffed on my blunt, vibing out to Future’s song
Won
.

I just want to take you and show you off. You already know that you the perfect one. Girl when I’m with you, feel like a champion. Ever since I got with you, I feel like I done won me a trophy. Trophy, I won me a trophy. Get to fuckin’ on the dresser just to make that pussy wetter. Gotta put you in that vintage then you rockin’ Perry Ellis. Then I leave with you, only cause I believe in you. We get to bangin’ on the walls just to piss the neighbors off. You and them twelve foot ceilings I just painted the halls so I can breathe with you. I want to live my dreams with you. You say that money don’t matter it’s times and the memories. And now that ass getting’ fatter and I know it’s because of me.

The song was saying exactly how I felt about Laci. The shit was crazy because in a sense, I felt like I won having Laci by my side. Shit, I was ready to give it up all behind her ass and I needed to make sure that she knew that. I needed her to know that when I was with her, a nigga felt like a champion.

* * * *

“Laci get up; we need to talk!” She was knocked out sleeping but I needed her ass to be up.

“We can talk about this after my nap.” She yawned, rolling over in the bed.

“No, we are talking about this right now. If your ass wasn’t out trying to play Rambo, then your ass wouldn’t be sleepy; now get the fuck up.” I snatched the blanket from around her and she was ass naked. I smirked before smacking the shit out of her ass.

That smack put some pep in her step because she jumped up, ready to fight.

“Put your hands down before I fuck your ass up,” I warned her.

“I’m not scared of you, Gunz.”

“No one said you had to be scared of me. The fuck happened to your arm?” Her arm was wrapped in gauze with blood seeping through.

“Nothing major,” she said, waving me off

“The fuck you mean that’s nothing; you over here bleeding and shit!” I barked

“I checked it out and the cut isn’t that deep. I cleaned it and everything.”

“Oh, so you a doctor now?”

“No, I’m not a doctor but I know about cuts. What are you even mad for, I already handled the situation.”

“I’m mad because you shouldn’t be getting cut up and shit yo. Take the gauze off and let me see.”

“Gunz, it’s not that serious.” She sighed.

“It’s as serious as I wanna make the shit. Take the gauze off and, if it’s not as serious as you claim, I’ll the shit back up.”

“You get on my nervous.” She sucked her teeth but took the gauze off.

I grabbed her arm and inspected the cut; it wasn’t deep but I was still pissed about the shit.

“You see, it’s not that bad; now go in the bathroom, get the gauze, and wrap me back up.”

I ice grilled her before going to get the gauze. I wrapped her arm, then got back to the situation at hand.

“Go put some fucking clothes on, so we can talk; it’s important.”

“We can talk with me just like this. Why do I have to put on clothes?” she purred.

“If you don’t put on clothes, I’ma bend that ass over and put a baby in you.”

“If memory serves me right and it does, you said you didn’t want to have a baby right now.”

“Stop bringing up old shit and just put clothes on, so we can talk. Yo ass don’t fucking listen and it’s starting to get annoying as hell.”

“I may be annoying but you get on my nerves so ha,” she said, getting off the bed.

I eyed her lustfully as she strutted over to her drawer, pulling out a pair of panties and her t-shirt. Laci thought her ass was slick; she bent all the way over, giving me a full view of her ass as she slipped on her panties.

“That shit isn’t working so just put the stuff on and get back on the bed, so I can say what needs to be said.”

“I don’t even know why you want to have a conversation. What are you going to tell me how I need to man up about something else?” she asked, rolling her eyes.

“That’s what I want to talk to you about,” I sighed.

“Well, I’m all the way up and dressed, so you can start.” She sat on the bed Indian style with her arms folded over her chest.

“Laci, I know you might not understand why I did what I did concerning Brett, but I’m going to do my best to explain it. You already know how my family was growing up; I know that’s not an excuse but, the same logic they used on me, I used on you. I sent Brett your number because I wanted to make sure that you could handle yourself under pressure. I just wanted to make sure that you would be good in any situation.”

“You may think I don’t understand but, trust me, I understand better than anyone. Which was why I went and handled it on my own. I get that you are stuck in the ways that your family has taught you. The same way you helped me break out of my shell, I’m going to help you break out of yours.”

“I appreciate that but you don’t need to help me break out my shell because I’m ready to give it all up for you. I have to break the cycle and the only way for me to do that is to step away from Black Rose Mafia.”

“But Black Rose Mafia is your baby. You started that when you were eighteen,” she said, looking at me with sad eyes. “I don’t want you giving up something you love for me. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if you did something like that.”

“Black Rose Mafia was something I started when I was eighteen years old. I been doing it for ten years and, yeah, for a long time it was something I loved, but all that changed when I fell in love. Laci, I no longer need Black Rose Mafia because I no longer have anything to prove to my parents. I no longer have to prove to them that I am worthy of the same power and respect that they have. That shit don’t mean nothing to me anymore. All I care about is building the family with you that I didn’t have growing up.”

“Gunz, that’s sweet and all, but what are you going to do with your spare time?”

“I have more money than a little bit; I could open up a restaurant or some shit and putting my cooking skills to use. It doesn’t matter, as long as I got you, ma; that’s all a nigga really cares about.”

“Okay, so then tell me one more thing.”

“Wassup?”

“Why do you think we’re not ready for kids? You’re twenty-eight and I’m twenty-five; neither one of us is getting any younger.”

“It’s not that I didn’t think we weren’t ready for kids; I just didn’t want to be the same type of parents that my parents were.”

“You don’t ever have to worry about that because you got me, but most importantly, you are changing; you are coming into your own.”

“You know why I’m coming into my own?” I walked over to her and grabbed her into my arms.

“Why.” She smiled.

“Because I have you. It’s crazy as hell but I found love when I found your stuck up ass. Your cry baby ass showed me what true love is and I’m forever grateful for you.”

“I’m not stuck up no more; I killed four people since I met you. I think that makes me a thug. No wait, I can’t be a thug because I’m a girl. I’ma a thugette.” Laci had the cheesiest grin on her face. She dead ass said that shit like it was an actually word.

“Slow up little mama; you ain’t nothing but my wife. Your killing days are behind you. I need you to go back to the lawyer that I met, minus all the crying and shit.”

“You don’t have to fake it Gunz, you know you love wiping away my tears.”

“I don’t love wiping your tears away but I’ll do it whenever your mushy ass needs me to.”

“You have changed me so much in my last four or five months that it’s crazy. I can honestly say that I started living when I met you, Bryce Gunz Carter.”

“If you thought this was living, you haven’t seen nothing yet lil mama. We have the rest of our lives to spend together and I plan on making it something for the books. Shit, I might even write one of those urban fiction books you be reading.” I laughed.

“Shut the hell up; what would you even call it?” She laughed.

I thought for a second then came up with the perfect title. “Gunz & Laci: Black Rose Mafia.”

“I can’t lie; that’s a hot title.”

“I know it is; now, come climb up on your dick and show your man what you working with.”

“You get on my nerves.” She giggled but did as I told her.

I couldn’t stress how much I loved Laci; her uptight ass did a number on a nigga. She had me ready to give up everything just to see a smile on her face. Jinx called me a stalker for the way that I pursued Laci, but shit, being a stalker paid off because I found the love of my life that day I walked passed her at the supermarket.
