Paris writhed under him, her sex connecting with the sensations of her breasts and throbbing in need. She wanted him to touch her there, as he had earlier, but this time with no clothing acting as a barrier. Lifting her bottom up she tried to push her mound forward to brush against his torso, which was leaning forward over him.

He sensed her movement, put his hands on her knees to push them further apart, and then ran his finger along her slit, capturing her juices on his finger, to lubricate it before he touched her sensitive clit. She nearly exploded, struggling to stay put and yet enjoying the intensity of his touch.

However, she was not prepared for what he did next. Pulling back a little and lowering his head he placed his mouth over her clit, his tongue pressing against the little bundle of nerves, licking her there, sending shockwaves through her body.

She pushed her hands in to his thick hair, clutching at him as her orgasm built rapidly. He sucked and licked her, and pressed his finger inside her sex, stroking her inner walls. If she thought his early probing had been incredible, this was something else. His thick fingers pushing inside her, his mouth teasing her clit, she could not take it for long, her breath coming in short sharp gasps, her head rolling from side to side as he took her to new heights.

By the time she crashed over the edge, to drown in her heated climax, she was crying, her body unable to take the pleasure he gave her. She whimpered like a frightened animal, but he showed no sympathy, determined to make her experience a strong satisfying orgasm, in the hope that she would become addicted to his touch, and be more likely to accept the other side of him rather than turning him away.

Sobbing, filled with conflicting emotions she clung to him. He kissed her thighs, eventually raising his head and kissing her taut nipples each in turn. He stroked her body, and calmed her with a soothing voice, until she had returned to normal.

“Make love to me, Wes. Show me what it it’s like to be a woman, not a child.”

“You are not a child. But I can’t make love to you tonight. I brought no protection with me.”

“Oh,” she sounded disappointed. “I thought you came here for sex.”

“No. I came to see you were all right. I had no plans for any of this. There are things we need to talk about before we go any further.”

“Like what? I am not asking anything of you, Wes.”

“I know, but there are parts of my life I need to share with you. Things you need to understand first.”

“Whatever you’ve done in the past, I don’t care,” she said honestly, there was nothing she could think of that would change her intense feelings towards him.

“It’s not so much what I’ve done, although there are more than a few things I’m not proud of. It’s different than that. It’s who I am, inside, that you need to know about.”

“I can take it, whatever it is.”

“I know you can,” he said. “But not tonight. You have school tomorrow. After work, we’ll talk.”

His words worried her. However, she had to trust him, and believe he would never hurt her. “Tomorrow, then.”

Wes

The taste of her was still on his tongue when he left her. It was the hardest thing he had ever done. Every part of him wanted to stay, to make love to her until the sun rose in the sky. His conscience would not allow him to. She had to know the truth about him before they consummated their relationship. It was only fair.

He smiled to himself at the change she had wrought on him, without any effort at all. Her touch, her innocent nature had cast him into a new shape, but to bring their relationship to its rightful end he had to be honest with her. Which was something of a first, he had slept with many women, some new his secret, and some did not. It had never bothered him because he knew they were not his mate, and therefore any relationship was purely physical, and short.

Now, faced with the woman he was destined to spend the rest of his life with, he knew he had to tell her everything, even if it held the risk of losing her forever. Not that he could see that happening, she was smitten with him. He would like to convince himself she was in love with him, but he could not allow himself that much hope, not when the stakes were still so high.

He parked his truck outside the bar and got out. His body still filled with the sexual tension, which had been building in him for days. Tomorrow night, if all went well, he would have the greatest relief of his life. Deep inside his mate's tight virgin sex.

He really needed to stop thinking like that if he was going to stay in control of himself.

Sniffing the air, he took in the scents of the warm spring night. He needed to run for a while, through the woods and into the cool stream across the valley, which would help him shake of the tension in his body. If not he might end up releasing it in some other way tomorrow night in the bar, he had got into fights for lesser reasons before.

He changed, shimmering into his other form, and set off deep into the forest. Once he had warmed up he let the ground sloping down to the stream take him, and he ran full pelt until he was panting heavily. The cool water of the stream lapped over his giant paws, it felt soothing, so he flopped down in it, taking a good long drink of the cool water.

Feeling better already, he simply lay and enjoyed himself, the stream taking his stress with it as it flowed around him. He only wished Paris were a shifter too, this was a side of him she would never be able to truly understand and share.

Getting up he shook, the water droplets flying off his shaggy coat, and then he began to make his way up the valley again, taking his time to get back home. He wanted to be nice and relaxed when he got in; otherwise, the pull of visiting Paris's house again might prove too much.

The very thought of her lush round body, in bed, waiting for him, was enough to test his strength of character. He knew it was not right to do anything before he had shared his inner secrets with her.

He stiffened; there was a new scent on the air. There was someone else out here tonight. More than one. Wolves. Raising his head he took in their scent, trying to figure out who they were, the local pack was known to him, others might be not so friendly. It did not happen often, but there were times when a new pack passed through. They were usually too sensible to take on a bear, but for some he was a trophy fight.

They were approaching. There, he had their scent now and he knew who they were. If they were approaching him, it was not good, something must be wrong. He shimmered into his human form; he could not speak to them as a bear.

“Good evening, Tom,” he said, as the two wolves came to him and changed into their human form too.

“Wes.” A tall, well muscled man stood a few meters away. He was toned, but did not have the bulk of the bear. Wolves were more athletic, and these two were brothers, so the resemblance was clear.

“If you wanted a social visit I take it you would have called on me the way most people do.”

“Correct. We were in the area, and caught your scent. How far have you been tonight?”

“Only down to the stream. I had other business.”

“The young woman. Shar’s daughter?”

Wes was instantly on his guard, the wolves had no business interfering in his social life. However, Tom was also the local law enforcement. The wolves tended to have places of authority, and one of them had been the local police officer for as long as anyone could remember. Still, it was his business, and no one else’s. “What’s it to you?” he asked, trying to keep his voice friendly and even.

“Nothing. But I’ve seen your truck outside her house a lot lately.”

“A lot? Are you spying on me?” Wes had never had trouble with the police before. His bar was legal and his customers well behaved on the whole. If there was ever any trouble it was dealt with the right way, even the shifters were not above the law.

“No. But I heard Shar disappeared.”

“Itchy feet I believe.”

“She seemed the type. The daughter OK?”

Wes again wondered what the point of the conversation was. “Yes, she is. I am looking after her.”

Tom raised an eyebrow, but then let it go. “I had to ask. She’s young and vulnerable, and there have been a couple of strangers around today. Got into a bit of trouble in Hallowton. Not too wise as you know.”

“And this has what to do with me?”

Tom looked at his younger brother, the ranger. Wes saw he was giving him permission to speak about something that they thought very important, perhaps too important to share with anyone outside of their pack. Wes got a bad feeling.

“They went off in their car before the vamps really got riled. This was yesterday afternoon. Then today I had some reports from some hikers that they found a deer, illegally killed.”

“Illegally? In their world or ours?”

“We think they might be renegades, can’t say for sure, the vamps they messed with were not very forthcoming with the facts.”

“OK. I’ll keep an ear out for anything.” Wes turned to go, he wanted to get home, it was getting late and he needed some sleep.

“The thing is,” Tom added. “When they were in Hallowton, they were talking about a woman they had picked up, who came from around here. I think it was Shar, they were saying they had come to visit her daughter.”

Wes’s blood chilled. That god forsaken mother of hers was going to be the ruin of Paris. “Thank you for the information,” Wes said, nodding his head in respect to the pack alpha, Tom Dawson. “Scot,” he said to his brother.

“Be careful,” Scot said. “We’re going to keep as much of an eye on things as we can. But we could not track them tonight.”

“I’ll be in touch if I get something,” Wes said, and then shifted into his other form and ran off. He went down to Paris's house before he went home. It all sounded quiet, and he could not scent any trespassers. He marked the area as his territory, and then left as the sun was starting to rise.

He was tired, slumping into bed exhausted. Tomorrow night he was going to tell her everything, and then persuade her to move in with him. He would not be able to live with himself if anything happened to her.

Chapter Six
Paris

Paris was glad to get out of school. She had found the last week a struggle, and all she wanted to do was get home, take a shower and head for work. The question burning in her head all day had been, what was Wes going to tell her. What exactly was it that he thought might keep them apart?

She crossed the road, heading for the bus stop, only to notice his truck parked in the same place it had been yesterday. Her heart skipped, and so did her step as she crossed over the road to him.

“Hi, I wasn’t expecting you today. I thought you would be busy.”

“I wanted to check you were OK,” he said.

She went around and got in, leaning across to kiss him on the cheek before settling into the seat and doing up her seat belt. “Are you OK?” she asked, he seemed a little preoccupied.

“Yes. Good day at school? I hope last night didn’t affect your concentration.”

She blushed, and smiled to herself, remembering the way his mouth had felt on her intimate places. He laughed, and she playfully slapped his arm. He caught fold of it, and turned her palm so he could press his lips against it as he had that first day. Then his tongue snaked out and traced a small circle on the sensitive flesh, leaving her squirming in her seat.

Clearing her throat she said, “I think you should start driving.”

“Why is that?”

“Because we are in a public place and you make me want to do things that should only be shared in private.”

“Tell me,” he said, his voice holding a command over her.

She shook it off. “No, I can’t.”

“Why not?”

“Because it’s...private.”

He had started the engine and pulled out into the traffic, heading out of town. “So you are quite happy for me to do these things to you. But not for you to say the words?”

“You’re teasing me,” she said haughtily.

“I most certainly am. Do you want me to tell you what I want to do to you?”

She turned to look at him, wanting to know with all her heart what he had to say. However, she turned him down. “No.”

“Why not?” he asked, seriously. “Have you changed your mind about us?”

“No,” she said quickly. “But it scares me. The way you know so much more than I do. I’m afraid it’s going to be a bit of a let down when we finally...you know.”

“Make love.”

“Yes,” she said, her face and body becoming hot at the thought of him in bed with her, touching her, entering her.

“You could never disappoint me, and I promise not to hurt you. I can restrain myself, the first time at least. After that, well...”

She looked at him, and saw there was no humour in his eyes this time. He was a big man, strong and broad, would he be that big down there? What if she was too small for him, too tight?

Catching her mood, he said, “It will be wonderful. I will make sure your first time is perfect.”

She smiled, but inside she felt like a little girl, next to this virile man. They were close to her house, and she turned and looked out of the car window, watching the familiar fields and trees pass by.

When Wes spoke again, he had changed the subject. “Have you heard from your mom?”

“Oh, yes. I had almost forgotten. She phoned last night, just before you came round. I guess that was why it slipped my mind.”

“What did she say?” He did not want to scare her, but he needed any information she might have.

“That she was settled by the beach, and that she had a job. It doesn’t sound as though she's coming back anytime soon. I’m afraid you’re stuck with me.”

“I am more than happy with that. Did she say anything else? About the people she'd met?”

“You’re suddenly very interested in my mom,” Paris said, jokingly.

“Just wanted to make sure she was safe, I don’t want you to be upset if she gets into trouble.”

“I know my mom, but I’m sure it will be fine. Some guys took her down to the coast. As usual, she gave them her life story, and told her about me. Sometimes that woman can be a little bit too friendly.”
