“All the way out to the city? That’s crazy. Will that happen every time we make love now?”
“I don’t think so. But I’m not going to let that stop me if it did.”
The phone blared again and the tension that strung him tight when he looked at the display was enough to bring her head up in concern.
“Who is it now?”
He wiped his hand over his mouth and across his chin. “The Chameleon’s needed. Kristos and Brett are at a childbirth class, otherwise he’d go.”
She rolled off his chest and pushed at him with her hands and feet. “Bring me a blanket and lock the door on your way out.”
“I can’t leave you on our bonding night.”
“I knew what I was in for when I agreed to be with you. Will you be back tonight?”
“I won’t let anything stop me.”
She took his hand and pressed a kiss to his palm. Inside she was glad for a moment alone to sleep and recharge for another round. “I’ll be right here when you’re done. Be safe.”
Her eyes drifted shut before she finished her sentence. His hot breath bathed her cheek as he kissed her and whispered in her ear, “Sleep, my love. When I return, I’m not letting you out of my sight for at least a week.”
“I’m counting on it, my little sex kitten.” She smiled.
