A sense of accomplishment rushed over Bigg as he realized that vengeance was finally his. With no time to waste, he and Legend took turns changing their clothes. Bigg wasn't taking any chances of getting caught.
“Oh, I forgot the gasoline,” Legend remembered after he finished dressing. Once he got back to the boat, Bigg was already wiping down the steering wheel and everything else they touched. Tilting the gas can over, Legend doused the entire boat with gasoline.
“Baby, you ready?” Unique asked with her hand covering up her nose, already changed and ready to go.
“Yeah, let's get outta here,” Bigg said, taking one last look to make sure everything was cool.
Leaving their old clothes behind, Bigg helped Unique exit the boat and step onto theirs. Legend was right behind them. Legend and Bigg then took off their shoes and threw them aboard too.
Taking one last look, Bigg dug into his right pocket and pulled out a matchbook. He took an already rolled blunt out of his back pocket. He struck the match, placed the blunt in his mouth, and lit it.
Bigg took a long pull off the weed-filled blunt and inhaled deeply. A smile crept onto his face as he threw the still-lit match aboard NaSheed's boat and watched it ignite immediately.
Taking his cue, Legend revved up the engine and headed back to shore. Zoë, Patience, Kay Kay, Chris, and even newborn Zion were all there to greet them.
Since the shooting, Zoë and Legend had been inseparable. They were living together, and he no longer worked as a cop. Legend quit the force and began working with Bigg. He was now a silent partner in Bigg Entertainment.
Even though he was no longer part of a duo, Chris's rap career skyrocketed. His first solo CD,
I Gotta Get Mine,
went triple platinum and even produced three hit singles. He and Kay Kay were even dating.
After Kiara was arrested, Kay Kay had filed papers to become Arissa's legal guardian. Once the court reviewed her petition, they had no problem granting her guardianship.
Just as promised, Unique and Patience attended counseling sessions. They discussed everything from their mother's mental problems to her death, to Patience being molested. The sessions lasted five months, but the girls got through it and became closer than ever.
Bigg was in the hospital for almost a month after the shooting. He wasn't even able to attend Syleena's funeral, but Unique didn't care. Her main was concern was his health and getting better. Thankfully for Bigg, none of the bullets hit his spine, but he had lost a lot of blood. The doctors had to give him two blood transfusions.
Bigg felt like he was losing his mind while he was stuck in the small hospital room. He hated hospitals. They reminded him of the mental clinic his mother had put him in as a child. The only thing he wanted was to go home. After a month, he was able to.
Now he and Unique were back together, happier than ever. Bigg was taking his medication, Bigg Entertainment was producing hit after hit, Zion was healthy, Patience was recovering from her trauma, and Syleena's soul was finally at peace. Now that NaSheed was finally taken care of, Unique could rest and live happily ever after with the man she loved more than life itself.
The sun was now setting and clouds of orange and pink hues filled the sky. Hopping off the boat, Bigg turned and reached for Unique's hand, helping her down. Looking into his eyes, she smiled and saw forever. A long time ago she thought she didn't need a man for anything, but now the man who stood before her was her very reason for living.
“You love me?” she asked.
“More than you know. You love me?”
“You know I got you. I'ma always hold you down.”
