Eyoen flopped face forward
, hiding.

“What’s with you tonight? Cat got your tongue?”

There was a sad muffled sigh, and suddenly Cass found herself full of pity and understanding.

“Poor blue demon,” she crooned,
her deep voice full of amusement. “You must have forgotten,” she whispered, kissing him lavishly.

Eyoen groaned and clutched her so close he squeezed
out her breath before he positioned her under him. “You’re the most dreadful tease, my dear. Forgotten what exactly?”

“This,” she whispered, pressing her naked breasts
against his chest and rubbing until he groaned and pulled her so close a drop of water couldn’t run between them.

The next kiss was full and sweet and so sexy, Cass forgot how angry she’d been earlier. She wanted nothing more than to drown in the wonderful feelings he created whenever she was
snug in his arms.

He whispered to her in Cyani as they made love
, compliments for her breasts, her back, her hips, her thighs, the wet, hot place between her legs that clenched longingly when his long fingers rubbed expertly at her rapidly swelling clit. She sank deep into the spell he never failed to weave around her.

Making love with her demon was like being reborn. Night after night, he wrung the most delicious sensations from her body.
She’d tried to remember what making love had been like before him – to gain some perspective; surely nothing could be this good – but she honestly couldn’t. No man, not even poor, doomed Lee had made enough of an impression on her to supplant the intoxicating loving Eyoen put on her.

No man had ever made her
want to be fucked as hard as she was by this demon. When he wrapped his long fingers around her throat and whispered in her ear that she belonged to him, she answered yes without hesitation. When he grabbed both wrists in one big hand and teased her until tears ran from her eyes, she begged shamelessly for his possession. She thrilled at the triumphant look in his gold eyes even as she splayed her legs wide and gloried in the long, easy thrusts he gave before blowing her mind with the hard stuff.

Cass had always known she had a secret kink to be dominated, but she’d never followed up on it. It hadn’t gelled with who she was as a woman in every other aspect of her life, and aside from a few stumbled upon
discoveries in Lee’s arms, she’d never wanted to. Eyoen was an altogether different story.

When they were in bed together, he could do anyt
hing he liked to her, and she’d happily acquiesce, reveling in his possession as he took liberties with her body she’d never allowed another. It made her come so hard when he got a little rough. She swore she could actually feel her blood sizzling in her veins when his control snapped bit by bit, and he had to struggle to rein himself in.

I
f he was away from her for more than an hour it was as though the separation had lasted weeks. He’d yank her close, run his nose along the side of her throat, drink in her scent. He’d nip and suck at her flesh, everywhere. Nothing was ever neglected. He investigated each swathe of skin as though he had to discover the nuances of her body all over again. Her belly button was mysterious and deserving of long minutes of favor. The creases at her elbows and knees were licked and sniffed and laved.

By the time he
buried himself inside her body, her breasts were throbbing with ache from his tireless mouth. Her ass was pulsing with sensations from the rapid clenching of her flesh in his fists as he pulled her against a steel-like erection and rubbed until she came or begged him in deep, broken whimpers to have pity on her.

He soaked up her pleas
to fuck her, to make her feel good, to grant her some relief from the unrelenting pleasure that was his touch, his kiss, his long, perfectly honed body. She was like sunshine, he whispered, and he was proud of every one of her shudders, every restless movement, every enticing touch.

Her entire skin would be sensitized,
everything shivering and open for him, ready, creamy, heated and desperate. He just laughed when she tried to pull him into position, to pull him into her. He’d teased her with a thrust or two, only to back away and settle in to steal her breath with luxurious kisses and then give it back as he moved on to caress the next ravenous place on her body.

She’d come twice, sometimes three times before he’d finally sink into her. She’d gasp in relief,
and when she finally came back to herself, she knew she wanted it no other way.

Sometimes Eyoen
exhausted her. His appetite for her seemed inexhaustible.

“Is it just the pheromones?” she dared to ask once,
and was subjected to a punishment spanking.

She’d gasped in
outrage to find herself turned over his knee, but she took the five hard swats that made her butt burn and her pussy throb with longing. Afterwards he reached down between her legs and manipulated her sopping flesh until she climaxed around his fingers.

“No,” he growled. “It’s not
just my bloody pheromones. It’s honest desire, and don’t you ever again suggest anything different, do you understand?”

Cass hesitated a moment before answering, for no other reason than she needed to catch her breath after that bone rattling orgasm
. But he saw it as defiance and tossed her off his lap and onto her back before settling himself between her legs and licking her until she was practically insensible, tears once again rolling from her eyes.

“You’re mine forever,” he promised her, caging her in his arms, tangling their limbs and subduing any effort from her to disengage from him in any way. “When we’re free of this threat I’m going to marry you in front of the entire star. I’ll crown you a princess of the realm, and as soon as we are blessed you will have my child. Then I shall take you back to Earth and we will
wed all over again.”

Cass just listened, half dozing, exhausted from his loving
but unable to resist him when he inevitably reached for her again. He whispered how much he adored touching her, how her warmth soothed him, and her voice. Well. Her voice, he said, could rescue him from any hell on any planet or star in the universe. All she had to do to cocoon him in safety and sincerity was to tell him that she loved him.

She believed him.
She only had to touch him to feel his need for her traveling the tall length of his body as he arched beneath her engaging fingers.

Often he wouldn’t let her touch him, at least not until he’d been partially sated. He said her touch drove him out of his head, and he need
ed to keep some control if only to love her properly.

But
sometimes Cass didn’t want him to love her properly. In those moments she would maneuver him onto his back and touch and taunt him unmercifully, evading all of his attempts to take control of her. She’d suck his cock until he was shuddering, unable to maintain his position on his elbows to watch her as he liked. He’d end up on his back writhing, head tossing, hands buried in her hair pleading with her to finish him.

“Not yet,” she’d say
in Cyani, her sucking slowing until he regained some semblance of mind, only to speed up and destroy him all over again.

Eventually, after she’d played the back it up game two
or three times, he’d take over, thrusting into her body like he couldn’t wait another moment to possess her.

“You’re
so deliciously evil, my dear, what you do to me. I think you’re trying to kill me with pleasure. But what a way to go,” he groaned, and she laughed at his use of the popular cliché.

He, of course, would often pull such knowledge from her mind, and he’d laugh, but the laughter was soon buried beneath his gasping moans
. She’d clenched her inner muscles around him, and he’d fuck her hard, her legs up, captive over his arms because he needed to be deep, to thrust hard before they both detonated like a love themed firecracker in one anothers’ arms.

“I love you so much
it’s silly,” she whispered in the dark, inhaling his soapy, masculine scent. She thought it wonderful that his sweat smelled like Ivory. It made her drunk that scent, and she draped herself over him like a warm, brown quilt, sighing contentedly when he stroked her hair and kissed her face.

“You could never love
me as much as I love you,” he said, and let her nap for exactly 15 minutes before he made slow, delicious love to her all over again.

Chapter nineteen

Eyoen’s wings came in the next day. As did his b
rothers. He and Cass were just finishing breakfast in their suite when it happens. Suddenly his cutlery hit the plate with a clatter and he stumbled to his feet. Cass rose, alarmed at how pale he’d gotten.

He ripped the tunic from his back and fell to his hands and knees. She opened her mouth to scream, to run from the room and find help, but he shook his head.

“No,” he ordered, in a guttural, pain filled voice. “I’m, I’m alright.”

“You are not,” she cried, moving toward him.

“Stay back!”

He writhed, arching his back and growling in pain.

“Eyoen,” she whispered, tears running. “Please let me get help. Your brother Cinque –.”

“No,” he gasped. “No one can help. I think it’s –” he cried out in pain, and then there they were.

Huge, black, gold with threads of royal blue and chocolate brown feathers like down. They were magnificent. Cass just stared with her mouth open.

Shaky,
Eyoen made it to his feet and stretched carefully, the wings unfurling until they grazed the ceiling nearly seven feet above their heads.

“My God,” she whispered. “They’re beautiful.”
She stepped close. “Does it still hurt?”

“Not nearly as much,” he laughed. He flapped them, and Cass laughed as the wind he generated threatened
to knock her off her feet. “The pain is fading fast, thankfully. It was quite terrible for a moment.”

Cass sobered. “It looked it.” She stepped closer. “Can I, may I, touch them?”

Eyoen laughed. “Of course, my dear. They are as much yours as they are mine.”

Cass ran a hand over one of his wings, marveling as how warm they were, how soft. Yet underneath
she could feel the strength and energy hidden.

“Where do they go when you don’t need them?” she asked curiously.

Eyoen preened for a moment, enjoying the awe and appreciation on her face. Then, gracefully, he folded his wings behind his back and she watched, entranced, as they disappeared into his flesh.

“Magic,” she whispered.

Eyoen laughed. “Magic,” he agreed.

They stood there smiling at each other. Then both realized what this meant.

Cass face crumpled, but she quickly pulled herself together. Her deep, resonant voice held only the hint of a wobble. “The war is coming,” she whispered.

“Yes, my dear,” he took her hand and lifted it to his mouth to kiss the back of her knuckles. “Come. We should go and join the rest of the family.”

The throne room was full. All of the family, Rierdane and several older demons Cass surmised correctly were the Cyani council of elders were present. Eyoen had told her about them.
They did look terribly wise,
she thought. They also looked worried, and they were trying to hide it.
Shit.

Eyoen’s brothers stood in a semi circle around the King, and Cass stood to the side, watching as he took his place beside them.

Nodding at him, and then at her, the King said: “Our surveillance drones have identified enemy space craft orbiting the star. It is customary to give all intruders a warning, an opportunity to turn around. As of yet, no one has responded to our hail or our order to turn ‘round immediately. What’s more, we’ve just this moment received word that their weapons systems are arming.”

“Then attack is imminent,” said Cinque.

“Yes, my son,” said the King. “My Queen, you and my daughters will be removed to the nether rooms in the palace along with the children and several servants.”

Cass opened her mouth
, but at that moment both Eyoen and the Queen turned toward her. She subsided, brow wrinkling with the effort not to object.
I’ll find some way out of there,
she vowed, then quickly masked her thoughts before Eyoen or anyone else could intercept her plans. She would not be shunted to the sidelines to wonder what was happening to him, to wait and allow others to make decisions about her fate.

I m
ay just be a singer on my planet,
she thought.
But I’m the best, and I’m not without my little gifts.

Things moved fast after that. Cass suspecte
d the King wanted to get them out of the way before she or anyone else got any bright ideas about helping. The so-called nether rooms of the palace were more opulent than an Oak Street condo and 10 times as big. Servants had set up a huge buffet from which no one was eating. Only the smallest children were unaffected, busily playing with their toys and helping to engage Eyoen’s sisters’ attention as they began the long wait to see how the enemy Unjel would fare against the Cyani Guard.
