“I don’t want to know that stuff.
I want to know your intentions toward my son.”

Are you fucking kidding me?
My intentions?
I want to help him make you happy, you crazy
bitch. Of course, I keep these thoughts in my head. I glance at him again for
help. Thankfully he gets the hint.

“Mom, our intention is to get
married and live happily ever after, just like you’ve always wanted for me.”

“Oh, well that makes sense. So,
when is the wedding?” I let out the breath I didn’t know I was holding. Looks
like we’ve averted a crisis, but I am going to let him answer this question,

“We plan to get married very
soon, Mom. We wanted to let you know what was going on before we did all the planning.”

“All right, so what do you have
planned so far?” Rebecca looks at me. I’m a wedding planner, after all.

“I think we’re going to do
something small at Drew’s house. Just close family and friends.”

Rebecca smiles and sits back in
her chair. “I like that. It will be beautiful, I’m sure.”

Wow, that was a sharp turn in her
attitude. I wonder if Drew noticed. He’s shaking his head and smiling.

“Yes, Mom it’ll be wonderful. I
don’t want you to worry about anything. Lily has it all under control. We’ll let
you know a couple days before the wedding, so you can get your hair done. How
does that sound?”

“I think it sounds wonderful,
darling. Lily, I hope you’ll make my son very happy.” Rebecca smiles and closes
her eyes.

“Mom, you seem tired. Lily and I
are going to go work on putting the wedding together and let you take a nap.
We’ll come back soon and tell you all about it, okay?” Drew stands and holds
out his hand to me.

“Yes, dear, that sounds fine. I’m
awfully tired. Thank you for coming to visit, Laura. I look forward to seeing
you again soon.” Rebecca’s words are trailing off and she’s seems to be falling
asleep while talking. I don’t even bother to correct her about my name.

Drew walks to the door, not
letting go of my hand, and we leave her room. When he closes it, I look at him
with the question on my face, afraid to ask it. Drew seems to understand as he
says, “She’s starting to have days like this. The doctor says it’s a
progression in her dementia. I’m sorry she can’t remember your name.”

It’s
fine,
Drew. I know very little about dementia. I was just worried she didn’t like
me.”

“Don’t be silly. Of course she
likes you. She just thinks I’ve never mentioned anything to her before, but I
assure you I did. I hate this disease and what it’s doing to her. You’d never
know by looking at her now that she was such a strong woman, never letting
anything get her down. She ran our household like a tight ship, making sure my
father and I had everything we needed. It’s really sad to see her falling apart
like this.”

As we walk toward the car, I want
to do something to ease Drew’s melancholy, but I’m not sure what to do. Once in
the car, I turn and put my hand on his cheek. He looks at me and I can see
tears in his eyes. I can’t help but give him a kiss on the lips. Drew moves my
head to angle me where he wants me, taking the kiss much deeper than I had
planned. When he finally pulls back, I’m breathless.

“Thank you for
being so understanding, Lily.
I appreciate it more than you’ll ever
know.”

I smile, not really knowing what
the right response is. Drew squeezes my thigh as he pulls out of the parking
spot, and I know he’s feeling better.

“Would you like to go out for
lunch?” he asks.

“Sure, I’m getting hungry. Do you
have a favorite place you like to go?”

“I know just the place where we
can sit and talk without being interrupted.”

“Sounds good to
me.”
I lean back and close my eyes, trying not to think too much about what just
happened with Rebecca.

Chapter
10

Drew

Lily looks absolutely beautiful
with her head back. I can’t believe I’m so lucky to have her in my life. I was
horrified at my mother’s behavior, but Lily handled it like a trooper, and I’m
so grateful. Now I’m going to do everything I can to make it up to her.

I take Lily to a small
family-owned restaurant for lunch. They have high-backed booths that make it
seem like you’re in a room by yourself, so I know we’ll have some privacy. I
love this place because it’s so intimate and quiet. When we enter, I ask the
hostess for a particular table, because it’s even more out-of-the way than the
others. She says it’ll be a short wait for the table and I agree that’s fine. I
lead Lily to the bench in the front of the restaurant to sit while we wait. She
still hasn’t said anything since we left Mom’s. I need to get her talking
again.

“Have you ever been here before?”

“I don’t think I have. It’s
really cute, though.”

“They have incredible food.
Everything is made from scratch. And the dessert is out of this world.”

“Sounds to me like you come here
often.” She’s smiling now and I know she’s feeling better.

“I do, it’s just too good to go
too long between visits. You’ll see what I mean.” The hostess walks up just as
I finish
to take
us to my favorite table.

Once we’re seated, and the
waitress has brought our water, I reach over and touch Lily’s hand as she’s
picking up her menu. She looks startled at first, but relaxes and grins.

“You are so beautiful, Lily. I
hope you’re happy with me, and my mother didn’t freak you out too much.”
Did
I just ask if she was happy with me?
What’s going on with me?

“Drew, I know things will be a
bit off with your mother because of her disease. I was startled by her
questions, but I’m fine. And, yes, I’m happy with you.
Sometimes .
 . .”
She pulls her hand back and starts straightening her silverware.

Why did she stop talking?
Oh,
God. This isn’t good.
I’ve got to do something.

“What’s wrong, Lily? You know you
can tell me anything.” I’m really trying not to panic. Is she going to change
her mind? Did my mother fuck this whole thing up for me?
Calm down.

“I don’t know.
I .
 . .
I just don’t want to freak you out or anything.” She’s looking down at the
table, still messing with her forks. I’m not sure what to do, which is also new
for me.

“Lily, you can’t freak me out.
Just tell me what you’re thinking and we can deal with it together, whatever it
is. I promise I won’t get upset.” I hope I can keep that promise.

She takes a deep breath and
starts to speak, but quickly shuts her mouth and looks down again. I’m getting
more frustrated and anxious each second she doesn’t talk. I know I need to be
patient but it’s getting really hard to stay calm. Finally, she looks up with
tears in her eyes.

“Drew, this is going to sound
crazy, but I’m starting
to
really like you. I’m afraid
that will mess things up because we agreed this wouldn’t be anything serious.
I’m sorry.” She looks down at the table again and I let my breath rush out.
Thank God that’s the only thing. Then it hits me I’m feeling the same way about
her.

“Lily, I’m starting
to
really like you, too. That does freak me out, but only
because I didn’t expect to feel this way about anyone ever again. Do you think
it would be so bad if things got a bit more serious than we’d originally
planned?”

“No, I don’t. I’ve been hoping it
would.” She looks at me, keeping her head down. She looks so sexy. I start to
feel my pants getting tighter and I know I am going to have a hard time getting
through lunch with her looking at me like that.

“Well, then, let’s just relax,
enjoy our lunch, and see where things go. How does that sound?”

Lily smiles fully and I see her
shoulders relax. I can’t help but smile back.

“That sounds great, Drew. Now,
what’s good here? I’m starving.”

Lunch was delicious. Lily and I
shared a slice of turtle cheesecake that was perfect. Afterward, we just walked
around downtown. I’m trying to remember the last time I felt so relaxed. I fail
because I don’t think I’ve ever taken the time to just enjoy a day outdoors. It
doesn’t hurt I have a beautiful, sexy woman walking next to me, either. I’m
lost in my thoughts and
don’t notice
Lily stop walking
until my arm is pulled back. She’s looking in a store window but I’m not sure
what she’s seeing.

I realize she’s gazing into a
shoe store. Of course she is. I chuckle out loud and lead her into the store.

“We might as well go in so you
can look around freely,” I say closing the door behind us.

“I’ve never been in a place like
this, Drew. The shoes are gorgeous, but I’d never buy anything in here. I can’t
afford it, which is why I was just looking in the window.” She starts to head
out, but I step in front of her.

“Lily, just look
around.
If you find something you like, we can discuss it.”

Her eyes light
up and a blush flashes across her cheeks.
Again, I feel my dick twitch at
the sight.
Seriously?
We might have to hurry up this
shopping trip and get back to my place soon.

I decide the best thing I can do
is let her browse. I find a relatively comfortable chair and sit back to enjoy
the view of Lily’s ass while she looks at shoes. I especially like when she
picks up the ones on the lower shelves. After a few views of her bending over,
I adjust myself and decide I need to focus on something else or I’ll be too
tempted to fuck her in the store. Just then Lily turns around with a black shoe
in her hand that has at least a five inch heel.

“Damn, Lily. I really need to see
those shoes on you, like right now.” I hear my words and I smile to cover the
desire that’s laced in there.

“Drew, these cost five hundred
dollars. I can’t try them on.”

“Yes, you can, and you will.” A
clerk walks over and I tell her to bring a pair in Lily’s size. Lily tells her
the size and comes to sit next to me. I pat her knee while we wait. I’m
starting to picture her in nothing but those shoes and thigh high stockings.
I’ve got to get things cooled off or I’ll be walking out of here with a tent in
my pants.

The clerk comes back and kneels
down in front of Lily to help her try on the shoes. When Lily stands up and
takes a couple steps forward, I have to work really hard to control myself. She
looks so fucking sexy in those heels, like her legs go on forever. No matter
what she says, we’re buying those shoes today, and we’re going right home.

Lily turns and looks at me. She
glances down my body and I know she’s seen the physical reaction I’m having.
She smiles and walks toward me very slowly. Stopping just out of my reach, she
cocks her head to one side and puts her hands on her hips.

“Do you like these shoes, Drew?
Because I
really
like them.”
She’s teasing me and I
like it.

“Yes, Lily. I do like those
shoes,” I say handing my credit card to the clerk. She takes it without a word,
leaving us staring at each other. Lily takes one step forward and bends over,
putting her hands on my knees, and looking me in the eyes.

“I’m glad you like the shoes, but
you didn’t have to get them.”

“Oh, yes I did. I can’t wait to
see you in just those shoes, to feel you dig those heels into my ass, while I’m
fucking you until you scream,” I whisper in her ear.

Lily stands up and her cheeks
turn red again. She sits down to take the shoes off as the clerk comes back so
I can finish paying. We leave the store as quickly as possible. Neither of us
says a word as we head back to the car, walking faster than we were before we
went in the store.

Once we get in the car, I can’t
think about anything else but getting Lily back to my place and getting her
naked. When I reach over and put my hand on her thigh, she jumps.

“Are you okay? I didn’t mean to
frighten you.” I can’t help laughing at her reaction.

“Sorry, I was lost in my own
thoughts. Where are we going now?”

“I don’t know about you, but I’m
ready to head back to the house. Was there something else you wanted to do
while we’re out?” I sincerely hope she doesn’t want to go somewhere else. I’m
hanging on by a thread.

“Oh, no.
I think going
back to the house is a great idea.” She smiles and puts her hand on mine where
it’s still resting on her thigh. I really hope she’s thinking the same thing as
me.

We stay silent the rest of the
ride. Every once in a while I move my hand up and down her leg and she groans
softly. Of course, that makes my dick harder, and I find myself driving even
faster.

Once we make it through the gate
and into the garage, I’m not sure I’m going to be able to get out of the car. I
have to take a moment and think about unsexy things to get my erection to go
down enough to exit without pain. Lily’s waiting by the door with a look on her
face that tells me she’s feeling the same as me. I throw the door open and pull
her into the kitchen. Kicking the door closed I push her up against it, my
mouth landing on hers, hard.
