Kris shook his head, waving his hand to stay. “Hey, you
guys don’t have to leave. Lolo and I can go over to the other room.” He grinned
and waggled brows at Maya. “Unless you guys want to party with us, but Landon,
you have to keep you’re hands off me because that would be too weird.” He
snorted drunkenly.

Maya turned to look at me with raised eyebrows. She
didn’t seem offended, just mildly taken aback. My brother was a very gregarious
drunk, but I guess a happy drunk was better than an angry one. Although, I
wasn’t liking the comments he was making toward Maya, even drunk.

“I don like anozer…girlz handz on me either.” Lolo
commented mixing herself a drink.

I didn’t even bother to look her way, but did roll my
eyes. Was that accent even real? Maya’s brows pinched, but at seeing my eye
roll she grinned and seemed to relax, and I suddenly realized she’d stiffened
up in jealousy. Maya had nothing to be jealous of; she was way more attractive
than that chick.

“Kris, just the thought of seeing you naked sets off my
gag reflex.” I retorted.

He snorted louder, and dropped his head back, closing
his eyes. “Well, I can’t say that the thought of seeing you naked has my dick
doing a jig either,” he waved his hand listlessly, “but your girl here could
bring out the rumba in it.”

     Maya half-frowned, half-grinned with widened eyes. I
think she was trying to find the humor in what was happening, but I was getting
sick of hearing my brother talk about her that way. “Kris, shut the hell up.” I
rose, bringing Maya with me.

Kris’s head lifted and he gazed at me with inebriated,
blood-shot eyes. “Shut up?” His gaze wavered over Maya. “Interesting.” His head
fell back yet again.

Sighing in frustration I pulled Maya out the door.
“Fuck!” I exclaimed once we were clear of the building.

     “What’s wrong?” Maya asked.

I continued to drag her after me. “Kris might be drunk
but he noticed that you weren’t just any girl. I kept your name from him, but
all he has to do is ask any of my friends to find out your name. I could ask
him to keep his mouth shut but he sucks at keeping secrets, so at any time he
could open his big mouth and mention you to my parents.” We’d arrived at my car
and I turned to face her.

Maya was frowning. She sighed and leaned back against
the car. “So you are saying the jig is up?”

Grabbing her I swung her around to lean against me as I
inclined back on the car. “Yeah, I’m afraid so.”

She laid her head on my chest. “So what do we do; tell
them or wait it out?”

“I think we should just tell them and get it over with.
My mother can be a real bear when she’s surprised with something. Normally I
wouldn’t give a shit, but since it involves you I want to avoid any of that.”

She snuggled into me deeper as though she appreciated
my concern. “Okay, I didn’t like all this sneaking around anyway, but Landon…”
she paused briefly. “You don’t think your mom will be mad because we are
together and take it out on my mama, do you?”

Damn, I hope not. That was another reason I wanted to
do a preemptive strike. Rita hadn’t been a concern of mine when I’d first
pursued Maya, but now because of my feelings for Maya I didn’t want to see my
mother taking out her control issues on Maya’s mother.

“I will make certain she doesn’t. There might be some
tension at first, but it will pass with time.” I could only hope that would be
true. My mother was frustratingly obstinate.

“Maybe we should wait.” Maya dithered.

“I’d give it three days at the most before she finds
out.” I stated realistically.

With a sigh her head dropped forward. “Okay. Spill the
beans it is.” Her head popped up suddenly, nearly hitting me in the chin
because I was rubbing my cheek against her hair. Shit, I was losing it.

“I don’t have to be there with you, do I?” She asked
sounding horrified at the idea.

I grinned. If I didn’t have to be there I would have
passed as well, so I understood her dismay. “No, you don’t have to be there. Do
you want me with you when you tell your mother?”

She shook her head vigorously. “Nooo. Let me tell her
first before I bring you around.”

Sounded good to me. “Okay. I’m going to tell my mother
tomorrow then. Does that sound like a good time to tell your mother?”

“Yes, but I’m going to have to wait until later, after
she’s done working. I’m not going to hit her with this in the morning before
she goes off to work. She won’t have enough time to process.” She tilted up on
her toes to kiss my chin. “I get out of work at eight, so I probably won’t be
able to see you until Friday since it will take me a few hours to discuss this
with her.”

Bending down I captured her mouth with a deeper kiss. I
would have loved nothing more than to sink into her one more time tonight…or
two, but I knew it was going to have to wait. I was pretty sure it was too soon
to introduce her to a quickie in the car.

When we finally broke apart both of us were breathing
heavily from the kiss, and from grinding on each other, and my aching cock had
me rethinking the car quickie.

Maya gave what sounded like a sigh of pleasure and
pain. “Oh god, Landon. I lo…” She broke off what she’d been about to say and
suddenly stiffened, pulling away and not looking at me. “Lord, what time is it?
You should get me back to my car. It’s probably getting close to my curfew.”

My heart was beating a mile a minute as I opened the
car door for her. “Yeah, your right. It is getting near that time.”

She got in and I closed the door. I was pretty sure I
knew what Maya had been about to say and I was vastly relieved, but at the same
time oddly disappointed, that she’d stopped. However, I acknowledged the relief
more and allowed myself to breathe easier thankful that she’d kept the words
unsaid. I wasn’t near ready to go down
that
road.

“I’m must have not heard your correctly, Landon, could
you repeat that?”

I sighed but held off on the eye roll. Meeting my
mother’s gaze across the dinner table I repeated my words. “You heard me correctly,
mother. I have been seeing Maya, Rita’s daughter, for the last several weeks.”

My parent’s had decided to take Kristopher and me out
to dinner tonight for a family dinner now that Kris was back from Europe. I’d decided now was as good time as any to announce my news.

“Is that who you were with in the pool house?” Kris
asked with a leer. “The housekeeper’s daughter?”

I didn’t bother to answer him since I’d already said it
twice.

My mother stared at me, aghast.

My father looked surprised. “That little girl that came
in to help Rita around the house when she broke her hand, is that who you’re
talking about?”

     “Yes.” I confirmed.

He frowned. “How old is she? I only got a few glimpses
of her but she seemed young.”

I could understand his concern. “She’s seventeen.”

His frown cleared slightly. “Well, that’s not too
young, but it’s younger than the girls you normally date.”

Kris scoffed. “Dad, Landon doesn’t date. He pokes and
bolts.”

     “Kristopher!” Mother admonished.

Dad gave Kris a look as well.

“Maya’s not like that though.” I growled.

My dads’ brows rose. “Been poking and bolting a lot,
have you?”

My mother muttered ‘Dan’ under her breath while looking
around.

I could feel my face heating. Previously, when we
talked about my partying it normally consisted of vague talk of girls and
drinking, not details.

“That’s not something I want to discuss with you or
mother.” I stated emphatically.

He snorted. “I’m pretty sure I had a talk with both of
you about respecting women.”

“I respect women who deserve it.” I affirmed. There
just weren’t many who deserved it.

“Dad, females throw themselves at us. We respect there
desire to be with us.” Kris smirked.

“The topic of conversation has completely gone
off-course.” My mother growled. “We are discussing Landon’s outrageous decision
to have relations with the staff.”

     Kris snickered. “Relations”

I ignored him. “Maya isn’t part of our staff. She was
only helping out. And I don’t see the problem even if she was.” I didn’t think
my mother was racist, but would she admit to being prejudiced against Maya
class wise?

I saw dad turn toward mother with an expectant
expression. My mother took note as well. Her lips pursed and she waved her hand
as though brushing away bad vibes. “I’m not saying that her being a maid
is
a problem, but she is the daughter of our housekeeper and that could cause some
problems
when
it doesn’t work out.”

It wasn’t hard to miss my mother’s ‘
when’
even
without the emphasis. “Who’s to say there will be a
when
? This could be
it.” I said this just to rile my mother, but surprisingly I didn’t choke on the
words. I wasn’t thinking that far in the future with Maya, but right now she
was all I could
think
about.

Her lips thinned even more. “You don’t know what you
want right now. You are eighteen and have so many experiences before you. This
sounds like your first foray into dating, so in all likelihood your feelings
for her will diminish and then we will be left with a resentful housekeeper.”

“Mother, you don’t know what will happen, and I’m not
going to live my life around what might happen.”

“It’s these types of situations you need to learn from.
It will help you when you follow your father into business. Thinking ahead and
recognizing the consequences of our actions or plans is what makes a good
businessman. You don’t just fall into something without appreciating the costs.
If you’d worked with your father this summer you would understand this better.”

Frustration began building in me. “Are you telling me,
mother, that you’ve gone into all your relationships with your eye on the
cost?” She gave me a glare for that, not liking my insinuation, but hey, she
was the one who opened it up. “My relationship with Maya isn’t a business
contract. I like her, she likes me. That’s all there is to it right now.”

“Well of course she likes you, Landon. Look who you
are.” She stated haughtily.

My disposition darkened further at her proclamation.

“Nadine.” Father said her name in a dark warning tone.

She waved her hand again. “What? It’s true. Even the
girls
with
money chase him for who he is.”

“But not everyone is like that.” He asserted, and then
turning his attention on me he pointed a finger. “Landon, just be careful, in
all ways.”

Kris nudged me with a smirk. “He means wear a condom.”

     “Kristopher!” Mother kissed.

     That went about as expected.

“How did it go with your mother?” I nipped at Maya’s
neck.

It was Friday afternoon and I sat on Maya’s couch, she
in my lap, discussing each of our previous night’s revelations. She’d text me
last night and asked me to come over. Her mother was working at my house so we
had the house to ourselves. It was actually a perfect set up and I wondered why
I hadn’t thought of it sooner.

They lived in a townhouse about twenty-five minutes
from my neighborhood. The house was comfortably furnished, not expensive, but
still nice.

She sighed in both pleasure and melancholy. “Not well.
She was not happy at me seeing you or that I had been sneaking around. She
thinks you are going to treat me the same way Tony treated her.”

I trailed my lips up to her ear. “But you were able to
convince her that I won’t do that?”

Another sigh. “No, we argued for a while, and at one
point I thought she might ground me and forbid me to see you.” I pulled away
with raised brows and she gave me a sad half grin. “But I told her that I was
old enough to know my own mind and was being careful with our relationship.”

My brows shot higher. “You told her we had sex?”

She flushed and pushed at my chest. “No! I told her
that I had become friends with you first and we were taking our relationship
slow.”

I gaped at her in exaggeration. “You lied.”

“No I didn’t.” She exclaimed, but flushed guiltily. “Well,
not wholly.”

I wasn’t going to get on her case. I could see her not
wanting to tell her mother she was having sex. “She was okay with it after you
told her that?” Leaning forward I nipped at her jaw.

“No, but she knew she couldn’t really forbid me from
seeing you. She’s given me reluctant acceptance.”

I frowned. “Is that going to cause problems between you
two?” I didn’t want Maya and her mother at odds with each other. They seemed to
have a close relationship and I didn’t want to cause contention between them.

She cupped my face giving me warm smile. “She just
needs time.” Leaning forward she pressed her lips to mine.

The kiss began slowly with soft, teasing kisses, but it
didn’t take long before it progressed to deep, passionate ones, and then I was
devouring her with a wanton urgency. My hands roved over her shoulders, down
over her back, and then came up her front to cup her breasts.

“I want you so bad, Maya. Can we?” I asked while
molding her breasts and pinching her nipples.

Her hips wiggled against my groin as she gasped out a ‘
yes’
.
Standing she guided me through the house. Arriving at a door she opened it and
led me inside, closing it behind us. It was her bedroom. I vaguely noticed some
pastel green walls, a dresser and mirror, a dark green fuzzy chair, a closed
closet, and other stuff, but my main focus was the bed with its green and pink
comforter…and Maya standing in front of it.
