Chapter Four

An hour long shower and a big bowl of spaghetti later, I'm bored. Welcome to my life of constant boredom. Luckily I unpacked and set up my Xbox before running upstairs to take a shower, because even though I feel exhausted I am also feeling pretty restless. Its times like this that I binge play my game until 3:00 in the morning. It makes for a rough time getting out if bed in the morning, but I enjoy being able to stay up late playing my game and getting to sleep in the next day. I know I should probably try to get started on my writing, but have yet to find any inspiration to get me started. So, I grab a bag of Cheetos, hook up the headphones and mic, and turn on my game. I like to keep snacks by me since once I start, it's like I refuse to move for any reason, I get pretty into my gaming. Playing video games live with a headset is the best way to go other than playing two players, but that would require actually having someone there to play and in this case I don't so the random people who also have nothing better to do late at night will have to do. Sometimes I get frustrated with people and may slightly raise my voice, but fortunately they don't know me and I don't know them so I don't care too much.
An hour into playing, one of my teammates just keeps stealing my kills. At first I thought they didn't mean to, but the same person kept doing it, almost like they were intentionally doing it. As I've said, I get really get into my gaming and occasionally get frustrated with people, well this is one of those times. I finally blurt out "Are you not capable of getting your own kills that you had to let me do the work so you can just swoop in and get the credit? Maybe you should switch to beginner." Maybe that was a little harsh, but it's not like I'll ever see these people. Then I hear it. "Geez Katie, you take this game serious don't you." Holy shit. That voice sounded familiar. Then I realize, I recognize the voice, I should since I just heard it earlier today. It's freaking Jason Thompson. How did he know it was me? I guess the username katieelizabeth1 was a give away, but I'm sure there are a lot of Katies that play this, there's no way he could've known for sure it was me. I really need to make my username some random words like everyone else. "You still there Katie Elizabeth?" and now he knows my middle name too. "Yep. Still here. Sorry about that, but you were starting to irritate me." actually he's not just starting to irritate me, he's been irritating me. "You weren't kidding when you said you loved playing video games." Why would I just randomly say I love video games if I didn't. Did he search for me on here? Now I’m annoyed. "You know you really didn't need to waste your time searching for me on here. If you wanted to play video games with me, all you had to do was ask and I'd gladly break out the extra controller and some snacks and show you how it’s down."

Can I please rewind and take back saying that? Why did I just say that? That was sarcasm, not an invite. Please tell me he didn't take that seriously. I've really got to work on thinking before I speak. He still hasn't responded. Silence. Surely he has something to say to that. I look up at the screen and it says jtXOXO has signed off. Of course that's his username. XOXO? Maybe my comment scared him off kind of like he did to me earlier with his comment. Good, maybe he will leave me alone now and I can play without being bothered. I continue playing enjoying it a lot more now that I'm rid of the annoyance that was just on my team.
Not even ten minutes later, my door bell rings. Holy shit! No way it's him. Crap! Is it him? Who else would be ringing my door bell this late? I immediately jump up in a panic. Should I answer? Of course I have to answer, he clearly knows I'm here playing my game. Calm down Katie! Shit. Shit. Shit. I stop at the large mirror in my entryway on my way to open the door. Thankfully my new hair product worked because my hair is lying nicely with all of my curls in place and it doesn't look oily at all. I may have to go back and stock up on this stuff. Ok Katie, just open the door. Wait! Oh my gosh! I'm wearing shorts with a tight fit tank top and no bra. I can't open the door like this.

Ah ha! I just opened a box in the living room with my cut off t shirts in it and hadn't got to putting them away yet. I run to the box, grab the first one I see, throw it on, and back to the door I run. As I'm almost to the door to open it, the door bell rings again. Great, he must know I was just running around panicked since my living room is only five steps away from the door. Just be casual and stay calm Katie. I open the door and there he is wearing a plain t shirt and gym shorts and in one hand is a controller and the other is holding a bag of Doritos and a bag of Cheetos. Cheetos? Something else we have in common, but he doesn't need to know that. "You said all I had to do was ask, but I figured I'd bring my own controller and snacks." I'm pretty sure he didn't ask, he just showed up. I politely let him in. We walk into the living room to sit when I notice him looking at the bag of Cheetos I had sitting on the coffee table, then he just looks up and smiles at me. And now he knows we have something else in common. He's here in my house. So much for locking myself inside. We sit down with an awkward silence. We hook up his controller and I switch the game to two player and without speaking we both start playing.

About an hour later of non stop trash talk and laughing, I'm actually having fun. I guess he isn't so bad after all, but only as a friend you casually hang out with, nothing more. We stop for a break since staring at a screen for an hour straight can quickly make your eyes feel tired. There's about a minute of silence just sitting on the couch before he gets up and walks over to the window looking out at the backyard. "You have a really nice view from your backyard." Random, but ok, I'll go with it. "I haven't really been out there yet." I didn't realize it until just now that I haven't went outside to sit and admire the view yet. It really is nice out there. Thanks to the amazing Lydia, it's complete with comfy patio furniture that's a nice dark wicker with orange cushions. I told her I like being able to relax and sit outside so she made sure to have some patio furniture on the patio ready for me. Jason continues to look out the window when he then goes to the door, opens it, and walks out onto the patio. Should I follow or just wait here for him to come back in? I guess I could go out too and see the view for myself. So I get up and follow him out. He's just standing over by pool looking out at my view of the city. I walk over almost beside him by the pool. Seeing him standing over by the pool, I can't help but think, how funny it would be if I just pushed him into the pool. I better not, but it would be funny. I must be smiling at the idea because he looks over at me and asks "What's so funny?" Oh you know, I just really wanted to push you into the pool so I could get a good laugh. "Nothing." That's all I can manage to say, but yet I can't stop smiling. He now has a big grin on his face. "Nothing? I bet you were thinking the same thing I'm thinking now." I really hope not. Now I want to know what he's thinking. So far everything I'm thinking, he seems to be thinking the same thing. He better not push me into the pool. He's still grinning, but I catch him slowly stepping closer to me. Maybe if I push him first he can't push me. He reaches his hands out and I reach mine out. We both start to push each other and in the process we managed to both fall in. After a large splash we both emerge from under the water and he starts laughing, I follow and start laughing too. "I was a little worried for a second that you weren't thinking the same thing." He says. Fortunately we were, or one of us would've felt pretty dumb. "Even if you weren't thinking it, I would've still thought it was funny." He smiles at my comment. With all of the laughing, I didn't even realize how close to each other we are, we are almost touching. The thought instantly takes away my smile, as I'm now feeling nervous, like I'm expecting something to happen that I don't want to happen. Do I want it to happen? He looks at me with a more serious look. We stare at each other for what feels like hours. Suddenly, he brings his hands up. Oh no, what's he doing? I don't know if I want what's about to happen to really happen. I feel like I can't breathe. Then, he splashes me and quickly swims away. Instant relief washes over me followed by a laugh.

For a second there I was thinking he was going to try and kiss me and strangely, I was ok with the thought while at the same time hoping he wouldn't. Good thing he splashed me, because that's not what I wanted. I start to swim towards him and we start splashing back and forth.
We stayed in the pool for an hour splashing, racing each other up and down the pool, and just playing around. We finally get out and thanks to Lydia there's a small cabinet with towels by the door. I grab a couple towels out of the cabinet. I take off my cut off t shirt, since it was dripping wet and I had a tank top underneath. I turn to hand Jason his towel when I see him standing right beside me shirtless. He really does work out. I didn't realize he had so many tattoos until now. As I'm just staring at him, I start to glance down and then I see that I took off my cut off tshirt to just be wearing a white and wet tank top without a bra. I quickly look up to see him turn his head away. I know he noticed just like I noticed him shirtless. I quickly pull my towel up to my chest to keep it covered until I can get inside and changed into some dry clothes.
We go inside and I show Jason to the bathroom while I go to my room to hurry and change, but this time with a bra. When I'm done getting dressed, I open my bedroom door to see Jason standing there, with just a towel on. "You wouldn't by chance have anything that would fit me while my clothes dry, would you?" Twice in a just a matter of minutes, he has me staring at him shirtless. I really need to pull myself together. Feeling flustered I giggle at his question and walk back into my room. He follows in behind and sits down on my bed while I look through my closet for something he might be able to wear. Now this a moment to headline "Jason Thompson wearing girls pjs" I laugh to myself at the thought and grab a pair of pajama pants and the largest t shirt I had. He managed to squeeze into the pants, but decided to go shirtless since he was afraid he would rip my t shirt.
We ended up back downstairs and in the kitchen making grilled cheeses while just talking. For a minute the conversation got serious when he was saying how hard it was always being in the spotlight and how people all over the world judged him for every mistake he made. I almost started to feel bad for judging him like I did. I didn't even know him then and know that I know him a little better, I think he's a nice guy. We bring the conversation to a stop and take our grilled cheeses into the living room and sit on the couch. Since Smallville was still on when I turned off my XBox, that's what we watch, until we both fell asleep.

Chapter Five

I can feel the sun shining right on me through the windows. It takes me a minute before I finally open my eyes. I'm still not fully awake, but manage to look up and see Jason starting to open his eyes. My head is laying right on his chest. Oh my gosh! Katie! Why are laying on him? Stay calm. He looks at me and smiles. "Good morning." How did I end up at this end of the couch cuddle up to him? Oh Katie, why? I quickly sit up. "Good morning." He's still smiling at me. "Did you sleep well?" he asks with a smirk. Now he's trying to be funny. "I guess I did." He sits up and looks outside. "What time is it?" I grab my phone from the coffee table and I see I have a missed call from Kayla. I'll have to call her back in a little bit. "It's 11:00." Wow, I can't believe I slept in. I'm not much of a morning person, but I've been so used to getting up early that I'm usually up by 9:00. "I have to go. I have a photo shoot at 12:00." He jumps up in a hurry and goes to the laundry room where his clothes are in the dryer. He must've changed in there because he was dressed in his clothes when he came back out. I walk him to the door and as I'm standing there with it open, he looks at me with a smile. "I wrote my number down and left it on the counter so you can call or text me later." I just smile back. He starts to go out the door when he just stops and turns around. "You better call me." He winks and then walks away. I shut the door, lean against it, and think to myself, what just happened?
My mind is racing after last night, but I'm going to try to not think about it since I have a lot I want to get done before Kayla gets here. That reminds me, I need to call her back. I pick up my phone and call her. As usual, she picks up after the first ring, she must never put her phone down. "Hey. I tried to call you. Were you still asleep?" I can not tell her about last night, I know I'll never hear the end of it. "Yea. I stayed up pretty late. What's up?" I'd rather wait until she's here to tell her everything. "Well I wanted to tell you that I managed to get an earlier flight out. I'm on my way there now. I should be in LA around 7:00." She's coming tonight? I'm so glad she's going to be here. "Oh my gosh! That's awesome! I'm so excited. I'll have a car there to pick you up." Yes I'm sending a car to get there, I'll need as much time as possible to finish getting things done around the house before she gets here. "You're sending a car? How fancy. Well hey I got to go, but I'll see you tonight." I really need to get motivated and try to get as much done as possible, because I know once she's here, I won't be getting anything done. "Ok. See you tonight. Bye." I'm so relieved she's coming sooner, I really need my best friend right now.
I finish up unpacking all but a couple boxes and start putting everything away and decide I'll take a short break. I've been going non stop for hours doing everything from unpacking, organizing, dusting, sweeping, and mopping, so I figure a little break to shower and relax before she gets here won't hurt. She should be here anytime now. The excitement is a bit overwhelming, but I know the next week is going to the best. I don't think I'm going to tell her everything right away, at least not until I can wrap my mind around what actually happened last night.
After a long hot shower and a minute of just sitting on the couch watching tv, I'm anxiously waiting and watching the clock. She should be here any second. The door bell rings. It's her! She's finally here! I race to the door and just as I open it, she nearly tackles me, hugging me tight, I feel instant joy. She comes inside with 5 large bags, you'd think she was staying a month, how I wish she could. I showed her around the house and helped get her set up in the guest bedroom. It's almost 9:00, so we decide to start doing hair and make up, because we are going out. Kayla and I are going to a club called Avalon, it's supposed to be one of the best in LA, so it says online, I guess we will find out. I managed to call earlier when we were talking about going and although it's a little pricey, I figure Kayla is only here for a week, I am going to make sure we have a good time. Since we are going out in LA, we go all out dressing up. I prefer a T-shirt, jeans, and a pair of Chuck Taylor's as my go to outfit for everything, but not tonight. Tonight we are both wearing little black dresses with high heels and our hair and makeup is spot on. Kayla looks at me, then at herself in the mirror "I must say we look pretty hot." She's right, we really do. She's always telling me how gorgeous I am no matter what I wear, really I just consider myself average, but tonight, we both look amazing. "Yea we do. I called us a car, it should be here soon." I know we are both going to be drinking, so a car to drive us around seemed like a very responsible idea and I don't want us getting lost in the city since neither of us are familiar with it. Surprisingly, it only took us both an hour to get ready, usually Kayla alone takes two hours, but I think we are both so anxious to go out that we rushed a little. I hear the door bell ring. "That was fast. Didn't you just call the car company like 5 minutes ago?" She's right, that was fast. Maybe a car was already near by when I called. I head downstairs first while Kayla gets her purse. I open the door to go out and there's Jason, standing at my door.
