“Your speed has improved so has your strength,” Jay remarked now and in his eyes danced with pride at her accomplishment.  She had just completed twenty laps in less than two minutes.  He handed her a bottle of water as he noticed Garrett strolling towards them.  Although he kept his face blank, his wolf snarled
him again
.

Emily had not noticed Garrett’s approach though as she noticed the light in the distance again, same spot as before but it was brighter and lasted longer.  Then it was gone.

She stared at the spot until Jay said, “Emily”.

“Huh?’ she said to him in confusion as she swung her head to look at him.

“Oh, hi Garrett,” she said running a hand through her hair.

Garrett smiled at her as Jay said through the mate link
Are you okay?

Yeah
she said back.

”Hi Emily,” Garrett said unaware of their communication.

Emily looked over at him and she was about to smile when the scene flashed in front of her
:

“She is my mate,” the blond hair boy sneered, “stay away from her.”

Garrett watched him walk away scowling at his back before his eyes turned back to the pretty little blond hair girl standing with her friends.  She glanced at him and Emily, a bystander, could see her eyes were an unusual violet color, and as she smiled at Garrett they gleamed with joy.  She is powerful, Emily thought to herself before she returned her attention back to Garrett.

Emily watched as Garrett turned away and she glanced back to see the joy fade from the young woman’s eyes as she looked after him in confusion
.  She turned her attention back to Garrett as he walked away quickly when her eyes landed on the blond hair male from a few minutes ago.  He was looking at the blond with lust and satisfaction.

Emily’s senses were telling her he was not her true mate.

“EMILY!” Jay yelled as her eyes widened as they focused on Garrett.

“What is going on?” he asked confused as his eyes narrowed.

Jay did not answer him as he grabbed Emily by the arms brushing Garrett out of the way.  Her amber eyes were letting him know that she had a vision, but it had something to do with Garrett?

He would think about that later, but right now his concern was focused on Emily.  As Emily stared into Jay’s green eyes, she came out of the vision and on a sigh she collapsed into his arms.

That was a first, she thought to herself as she leaned weakly against him.

What was a first
Jay asked her.

The vision was different from what I normally have
she replied.

She looked over his shoulder to see Garrett staring at them weirdly.

“My taskmaster,” she said in a calm voice stepping back from Jay, “is working me too hard.”  Then she turned to Jay, “May I take a break, my master?”

They both heard the teasing in her voice and Garrett smiled as Jay growled.

“Go,” he said with a push and she smiled as she walked away back to their room.
Once in their room, she took a nice shower and afterwards she lay on the bed in her robe.  Ther
e had already been there for three weeks and they had three
weeks left because they had to be back in time for the ceremony.  She fell asleep thinking about Garrett and his mate.

Garrett watched her walk away with a wistful look.

“She is your mate,” he said turning back to Jay.

“Yes,” Jay agreed.

“I thought…” Garrett stopped and shook his head.  “It does not matter what I thought.  You are lucky, though, Caine.”

Jay heard the wistfulness again in Garrett’s voice and he thought of Emily as she looked at Garrett.  She saw something about him.

“How about we get a drink together?” Jay suggested and Garrett looked at him in confusion before he nodded his head.

They walked back together neither one saying anything although Jay saw the frown and hardness that crossed Garrett’s face including the pain.

Emily was awake when Jay walked into their room two hours later carrying a
covered tray.

“Everything okay?” she asked him and he laughed.

“That is what I should be asking you,” he replied.  He kissed her and her eyes raised as she smelt the alcohol on his breath.

“I had a few drinks with Garrett,” he commented to her look and he watched as Emily’s eyes shadowed.  She bit her lip as she asked, “Did he talk to you?”

Jay nodded his head slowly, “But something tells me that you know about it already.” He leaned down again and gave her another kiss.  “I am going to take a shower.  We will talk more when I get out.”

Emily nodded her head as he went into the bathroom and when the shower came on, she inspected the covered tray.

She shook her head with a smile as she realized he had planned on them talking for the tray was loaded with sandwiches: ham and cheese, turkey, tuna and egg salad.

She grabbed a couple of bottle waters from the small refrigerator in the room.

She was sitting on the bed Indian-style eating
one
of the sandwiches when Jay came from the bathroom wearing only a pair of boxers.

“You could not wait for me,” he teased as he towel dried his hair and Emil
y just shook her head because her
mouth was full at the moment.

He sat down next to her as he grabbed a sandwich and
Emily handed him
the
second
bottle
of
water.  They ate in silence and after they were done, Jay placed the tray to the side.

“So what did you see?” Jay asked leaning back against the headboard of the bed.

Emily still sitting Indian-style told him what she saw and he listened to her.

Then she told him, “It was different
than normal though because I
saw things other than what the person in the vision saw.  I normal
ly
see from another view point or as a bystander, but only what they saw or experienced.  This time, it was almost like I was there and was able to observe everything around me besides what Garrett saw and heard.”

Jay nodded his head at what she was just explaining to him and he also could see the look in
her eyes.  This
scared her a little because it meant that she would be deeper involved instead of just seeing what has happened or will happen.

“So what did Garrett tell you?” she asked unfolding her legs so she could crawl to sit next to him.  He put an arm around her as he told her, “He was just talking at first although he said I was lucky for having you as a mate.”  He smiled as he said that and she rolled her eyes although she leaned against him.

“When we
were
drinking, he started telling me about his best friend who is the Alpha of his pack, but unfortunately for him, his mate is the Alpha’s cousin who he sees like a sister.”

Emily frowned as she titled her head back on his shoulder, “The man I saw in the vision?”
“I believe, from what Garrett said, t
hat he is the second-in-command to the Alpha,” he said.

Understanding dawned on her face and she sighed.  “How old is she for she would know who her mate is?”

“She is only
15; she turns 16 in three
weeks time.  A few days after he returns from here, in fact,” he told her.

Emily thought about the look in her eyes as she glanced at Garrett in her vision, “She already knows who her mate is although it looks like she is waiting for her shift to announce it.”

Jay frowned, “Most females cannot identify their mates until their first shift.”

There was a thoughtful look on her face as she said confidently, “She is special, Jay.”

He wanted to question her more but he knew that if Emily knew she would tell him.

“How old is Garrett?” she asked suddenly and Jay answered, “19, five years younger than me.”

Emily smiled as she teased, “24”.  He looked down at her with narrowed eyes before he began tickling her and she laughed as they slid down into the bed.  Once she started yawning though he quit and told her to get some sleep.  They curled against each other as they drifted off to sleep.

For the next two
weeks, Jay enhanced her training and Garrett became her training partner.  Jay made her run with Garrett’s wolf and when she questioned this because she knew there was no way to out run one if they were chasing her, his answer was, “If one is chasing you then you need to be able to stay ahead of him as much as possible until you get a chance to attack him.  You can use what is around you to distract him
, and most wolves do not expect humans to have strength that can match their own so you can use that to your advantage.”  So she learned to run with Garrett until she was able to keep up with him.

Then Jay trained her to use her enhanced senses from her eyes to her hearing.  For her enhancing sight, they trained at night and he gave the first day to accustom her self then if she did not accomplish it the second time, they trained longer the following day.  While he focused on her sight, he started
to
introduce her hearing capabilities.  Everyday she trained on something so that she could understand her new abilities and to make herself comfortable with the changes in her body.  Fighting was something that Jay really did not have to teach her, but he made sure that she learned to fight a werewolf although not in there wolf form.  Garrett became her partner for this and he had been surprised when she threw him the first time.  He did not underestimate her aga
in after that and she worked
hard to learn it all.

She would go to bed tired and drained, but she did not complain.  She knew why Jay was training her so hard because he wanted her
to stand a chanc
e for he was always not going to be around her if they were attacked.

The pride in his eyes as she accomplished each goal he set for her made her eyes glow with his confidence and love in her.

It
was the last week when Jay told her he would
be stepping back as her
trainer;
also this was the week that Garrett went back to his pack.

“Why?” Emily demanded a few days before Garrett left.

Jay sighed in frustration, “Emily, you learned a lot within the past few weeks, but this las
t bit of training I cannot teach you
.  It deals with weapons and as a wolf, I can handle certain we
apons but I am not proficient with
them.  There is the teacher here who taught me and he is proficient.  He is going to be training you for the next three days.”

Emily was confused, “Three?”

Jay smiled as he ran a hand down her cheek, “Garrett goes back to his pack today and four days from now is when his mate turns 16.”

Her eyes widened as she realized what he was telling her, “We can go…” she whispered not finishing her sentence.  He nodded his head and she kissed him for it.

So Garrett left to go back to his pack and Emily began to train with an elder teacher with weapons from knifes to swords although she drew the line at guns.

“I do not like them.  I rather use a bow and arrow,” she told the man and he nodded his head.  After one day, he told Jay bluntly, “She is better at these weapons then you are.”  Jay had not been surprised for he remembered how she handled the bow and arrows the night she was injured.  Yet he continued to train
her
for the nex
t two days, but
he knew she was as proficient as she could be and probably more if she continued to train.  He told Jay this as Emily relaxed on the training mat where they were at.

All of sudden there was a brighten light, and she glanced over to the spot where she had seen the light before.  This time it was brighter and she noticed it was not disappearing.  She glanced over at Jay and noticing he was in a deep conversation with her teacher, she decided to investigate figuring she would be back before he noticed her missing.  So she followed the light into the thickness of the forest in a direction that she had not gone before.  She continued on although she felt a little insecure about where she was, but the light was getting stronger.  She continued following it until it led into an open field and Emily stood there in shock.  The field was large, but it was
surrounded
by the forest and she had never seen anything like it before except for one place.

But…it cannot be possible” she said slowly shaking her head as she walked forward into the field of wild flowers…just like in her vision.

Chapter 21

“She has progressed faster than I thought for a human especially one who was not born from a werewolf bloodline,” the teacher said to Jay.  Jay felt a fierce pride shoot through him and his wolf for their mate.

“I think she will be less of a
hindrance than most humans,” the man continued, and then he looked past him.  A frown formed on his face although there was a knowing look in is eyes, “By the way, where did she go?”
