She stiffened and pulled away. Narrowing her eyes, she called him a smart ass before going to join Jayden to watch their morning cartoons.

“It’s nice to have you back.” Tyler chuckled. “I missed that temper of yours.”

That afternoon they sat in the park watching Jayden play from a short distance away. While he was busy on the play set, Jenna and Tyler enjoyed a leisurely afternoon hand in hand.

So I’m assuming that you’re probably going back to work shortly.” Although she loved having him home, she could tell Tyler itched to get back into the swing of things. She was curious as to how much time she would have with him. Tyler’s job was demanding, her days were lonely, and his nights were tiresome.

“I see when it comes to my going back to work it isn’t a happy subject.”

“It’s not like that. It’s just with the long hours I miss this, the quality time. I understand they’re a part of the job. I just wish it wasn’t so often. I miss you.”

“I know, I feel the same way, but I’ll be with you for the rest of this week, and on Monday I’ll see what I could do about not working so late. It might be hard to do, depending on how much I need to catch up on, but I’ll still try. Who knows, everything considered maybe they’ll all take it easy on me, and I’ll be able to start coming home for dinner every now and again.”

“Says the man that works way too hard and loves it.” She laughed, having the suspicion that more often than not, Tyler worked the late hours voluntarily. He loved being a lawyer and got carried away or swept up in paper work, going through files, putting together case after case, and whatever else lawyers did in their offices and the court room.

“But here’s to wishful thinking.” He raised his hand, mocking a cheer in her direction.

She sighed before smiling. “It never hurts to dream does it? What can I say? I love you, and I married a man who is passionate about what he does.”

“I love you too.”

They’d finished picnicking, and Jayden was off to play again. There were constant interruptions from friends with well wishes on her recovery to Tyler’s obvious surprise. “Wow, I never realized how many people you knew.”

“I do have a good social circle, don’t I? Most of them are from Jayden’s play group and the park, some are neighbors. He’s fabulous at making friends.”

“Really?” He feigned shock.

“Oh, shut up.” She laughed, really enjoying these moments with him, but it also made her think about how much she missed this too. It was different when he was at work, and she dreaded the next week without him.

Her dream came to mind then, and a flashback of seeing Tyler and the leggy blonde came back to her. She grimaced at the thought and just couldn’t understand why she couldn’t let it go.

“Are you all right?” He looked worried.

“I’m fine.”

He didn’t seem to believe her. “Okay, I think we’ve had enough for today. I’ll get Jayden, and we’ll go home.”

“Wait, let’s just give him a couple more minutes.” He looked at her with disapproval, ready to argue. “I’m fine, Tyler, and a few more minutes isn’t going to hurt anyone. Just look at him. He’s having so much fun. Do you really want to pull him away? It’s been hard on him too, so let’s let him enjoy his time here a little while longer.”

He sighed in defeat.

I’m fine,” she repeated, then changed the subject to more curious matters. “Speaking of work, do you happen to know of any gorgeous young lawyers with great legs and beautiful long blond hair?” She tried to act casual while reminding herself it had been no more than a silly dream.

“What?”

“You heard me; now can I get an answer? Young, blonde, great legs,” she repeated, going through the basics. There might be some competition out there that she never knew about.

“Should I? No, Jenna, I don’t believe there are any lawyers at work that fit that description. Why?”

She didn’t answer. “Clients?” She felt nauseous.

“Nope, but now you have me curious. If it makes you feel better, I could ask around.”

She swatted at him playfully, and they both laughed. The whole thing was ridiculous, really, and it felt good to laugh at what an idiot she was being. She felt better already.

“Should I ask why there is a sudden interest in gorgeous blondes?”

She felt like an idiot for bringing it up.
Stupid dream
. Shaking her head, she turned red, embarrassed, especially after finding out that there was no one that matched her description. Feeling better, however, was short lived.

Tyler laughed again. “You know now that I think about it, I do know of one blonde. I’m not sure how long her hair is though. She’s always got it tied up tightly. She’s pretty, but I wouldn’t say gorgeous. She wears thick glasses that aren’t very attractive.”

He shrugged indifferently while Jenna narrowed her eyes. She overheated. The flush in her face burned, blood pressure rose, and her pulse throbbed. He hadn’t noticed her reaction, watching Jayden while she’d asked, “Who?”

With a smile he looked her way. “Alex, why?”

Okay, it was more than nausea in the pit of her stomach.
Alex, oh my God
. Tyler had gotten so worked up when she teased him about her in the hospital, but Jenna had let that go. Could there have been something going on or was she jumping to the wrong conclusions over a silly dream?

“Jenna, are you okay?”

Oh God, it was definitely more than nausea. Getting up as fast as she could, she ran straight for the garbage can. Just making it there in time, she lost her lunch.

Chapter Seven

Jayden really didn’t want to leave, but Tyler wasn’t taking no for an answer. He seemed determined to get Jenna home, and the whole situation was causing a scene. Between Jayden’s tantrum and Tyler’s frustration, people were staring.

“That’s enough.” Embarrassed, Jenna had to raise her voice to be heard. She took a deep breath before addressing them both, turning to Jayden first. “Mom’s not feeling very well, so I need to go home and lie down. Is that okay with you?”

“But I don’t want to leave.”

Tyler’s frustration grew. “This is ridiculous, Jenna. We need to take you home.” She could tell that he was afraid to overwhelm her. He was determined to have her rest, but she wasn’t going to abide by his ‘this is how it’s going to be’ attitude either. “Tyler, I understand your concern. Jayden go on and play for now.” She placed her hand over Tyler’s mouth to keep him quiet while Jayden ran towards the play structure again. “Now, this is what I suggest, I’m going to go home, but before I do, I’m going to walk over there and give Jayden a timeline. That way he won’t give you any trouble when it actually is time for him to leave.”

“Jenna,” Tyler whined, making her laugh.

You know, you and Jayden sound so much alike.” Then she mocked them both whining to prove her point. “Honestly, I’m okay. I really just need to go home now and brush my teeth. That’s all. I’ll try to rest if it makes you feel better, and if you want to keep an eye on me that badly, I could be back in five minutes.” Considering the park was only a few blocks away, it was doable.

“You have to be the most stubborn woman alive. Won’t you ever let me take care of you?”

You do every day,” she stated. “That’s why you put in all those long hours at work.”

That’s not what I mean, Jenna, and you know it.”

She laughed. “I’m a big girl, and I’d like you to start believing me when I tell you that I’m okay, because I am.”

He rolled his eyes and pulled her into his arms. “I’d kiss you, but the idea is not very appealing right now.”

She smiled, getting back to the point. “So should I tell him another hour?”

“Fine, he has another hour but not a minute longer.”

Nothing was more disgusting than the aftertaste of vomit in your mouth, and it felt good to be minty fresh again. Tyler expected her to relax, but she didn’t feel like it. Her alone time gave her the opportunity to think about things, like how worked up she’d become. So what if Alex was blonde? Tyler wouldn’t cheat. He just wasn’t that type of guy. They’d been together since college, and she’d known him years before that. Not to mention that she wasn’t that type of woman, either, the one that always worried about stupid things she’d have no way of controlling. She wasn’t insecure and certainly was never one to second guess herself or Tyler, for that matter. She didn’t want to start.

* * * *

“Hmm, something smells good.” Tyler stood behind her and inhaled deeply.

She smiled with him being so near. “Hey, that was a fast hour at the park, you’re early.”

He chuckled, “Ya well, his other little friends took off so he finally said he was ready to come back. I just couldn’t refuse.” He shrugged to feign innocence.

Where’s Jayden?”

“Bathroom,” he whispered by her ear, sticking out his tongue to draw her lobe to his mouth while he nibbled. “I told him to wash up before dinner.”

“That’s good, we have a couple of minute’s then.” She hopped on the counter, pulling him into her embrace, gliding her hands down his arms, to his waist and then to his finely muscled behind. Her kiss was an eager tongue lashing against his. She wanted him and took advantage of the few minutes they had.

She could see Jayden coming from the stairs and regretfully pulled away from the embrace. “Later,” she whispered, making Tyler groan.

Dinner and quality time with Jayden flew by. Followed by the nightly routine of bath and then story time, Jayden was out like a light which made their
later
come quickly.

“He’s sleeping,” she announced proudly, startling Tyler.

Wow, that was fast.”

“Yeah, well going to the park has its perks. The little guy was exhausted.” Not only was she able to put Jayden to bed, but she was also able to change into something more appealing.

He eyed her robe curiously. “Are you tired tonight? It’s only eight-thirty.”

“Not really.” She smiled. “But it is
later
, and I was hoping that you’d come to bed.”

“Bed at eight-thirty.” He smiled with her, and it grew wider once she stood up to discard her robe. She’d chosen to delight his senses with a red lace garter and stockings. The heels she chose gave her a good four inch height difference, and the fact that she was braless and decided to discard putting on panties only heightened the excitement.

Tyler swept her off of her feet and into the bedroom, placing her gently on the bed.

Jenna watched as Tyler walked across to the night stand. He turned on the CD player, and she giggled as he swayed to the beat of Marvin Gaye’s, “Let’s Get It On.” Once clothes were out of the way, he grabbed her thighs to pull her closer. Leaning forward, he placed his lips on her stomach, trailing soft kisses downward. Jenna moaned, unashamed with want. She thrust her hips upward and groaned with his teasing movements.

I want you to tell me,” he whispered. “Tell me what you want me to do to you.”

She bit her bottom lip. It had been awhile since he’d asked her to be so bold. “Stop teasing me.” Grabbing his head, she placed him between her legs, exactly where she wanted him to be. “I want your face between my thighs while your talented wet tongue does its magic on me. I don’t want you to stop until I scream your name with my release. Now get busy.”
