I was looking at Alice, but could clearly see the wolf charging me from behind. I waited and as it jumped with its mouth aimed at my head. I side stepped and with one quick
swing I removed the animals head. When the giant wolf crashed to the ground, it was no longer a wolf. There lay a young man with dark skin. His nude body was a few feet away from the head. His black hair was stained with blood as his face stared at me with empty eyes. All that remained in my hand was the hilt, the swing was strong enough to behead him, but I broke the sword in the process. I dropped and pulled out another long knife as wolves came for me from every direction.
The flurry of action that followed was viscous. I cut
, kicked and flashed; flipping and jumping between the trees as I fought the wolves. Gun fire rang in the air along with growling and hissing. I noticed that Alice, Charlotte, Ezra and I were working in a large circle killing the wolves. I had counted five dead men upon the ground; two of them were my kills.
I was fighting several wolves with Alice at my back; her back was to me as she fought one. Then something eerie happened, it was like our minds linked on a su
bconscious level. I flashed past her and next to the wolf she had been fighting and there I ran my knife into its chest. I had turned my back to the wolves that I had been fighting. One of them took the opportunity to launch at me while I was killing his friend. He leaped through the air, but he was pulled out of the air and stabbed to death by Alice.
Me and Alice were now side by side a
nd the other two wolves looked confused. Alice was messing with their heads. They moved away, but as they did, a hell of gun fire came down on them as Clyde and Ezra let them have it. These wolves had hard skin, but the high powered rifles brought them to the ground. One died from gun fire while the other lay upon the ground in its own blood. Charlotte ran up and shoved her spear through its heart and that made nine dead.
Clyde tossed the now empty machine gun upon the ground. I noticed the wolves had backed off, regrouping in the fog. Clyde growled, “Out of ammo and the sun will rise soon.”
Ezra barked, “Can’t worry about that now… prepare yourselves they come again.”
I noticed as the wolves encircled us
yet again. I had lost track of Bonnie and Michael. I looked up at where I last seen them. I yelled out, “I am going to check on Michael.”
Before anyone could respond I flashed away and literally jumped over a wolf as I headed to where he was. There on the ground was blood and torn up body pieces. I could tell by a severed arm and her red shirt, that I was looking at what was left of Bonnie. In between three large trees two wolves were growling, one was pacing back and forth trying to get in. The other wolf was brown and jammed between a gap obviously fighting something inside the ring of trees.
I flashed over to the pacing wolf and took it by surprise. With my last knife, I plunged into its side, but missed its heart. The animal turned its head in rage and pain snapping at me, I barely moved in time before losing my arm to its teeth.
The injured animal came at me; I grabbed its jaw one hand on top the other on the bottom. I twisted its head to one side while I side stepped. The heavy wolf fell to one side landing on the ground. There I kicked it in the side with enough force that it lifted the wolf off the ground as it slammed into a tree. The wolf now lay unconscious at the base of the tree.
The second wolf had not yet noticed what had happen to his friend; he was too busy fighting Michael in the tree. I noticed that Michael’s high powered rifle was lying upon the ground. I quickly picked it up and ran up behind the wolf. With both hands I shoved the end of the rifle right up the wolf’s ass.
The wolf let out a sound that will haunt me to the end of my days. The wolf was now trying to back out of the trees, but I wouldn’t let it. I waited just a few seconds, and then pulled
the trigger. It wasn’t long before a dead man with a rifle projecting from his ass lay before me.
Michael came out from between the tree
s. He was bloody from head to toe. His arms both had huge gashes in them. I noticed that his left hand was missing all together. He nodded his head, “Thank you. I couldn’t have thought of a better way to kill him.”
I laughed, “What can I say, I am creative that way.”
Michael’s eyes narrowed, “Looks like you'll need to get more creative.”
The injured wolf had now got back on its feet. It turned and growled, that would have not worried me, but the fact he was joined by three others did. Two of them were gray wolves like him, but not the third one.
It was one of the Smith brothers, which one I could not tell. He didn’t really look like a wolf, he stood like a man. He was covered in dark brown hair his hands had large black claws. The face was covered except for around the eyes and nose and to top it off a mouth full of yellow teeth. He looked like an older, meaner Michael J. Fox. That had me wondering if the maker of Teen Wolf had known about real werewolves.
I smiled, “Finally it
's time to kill teen wolf.”
I flashed forward taking the man wolf by surprise. I kicked him square in the chest, he hurdled backwards from the hit, but I fell under attack by the wolves that were flanking him. Spinning,
moving and jumping, I dodged their snapping teeth. I leaped up into the air and went weightless; I flew up to a high branch.
There I could see the injured wolf had Michael up a tree. The other two wolves were at the base of my tree growling with anger. And teen wolf had recovered and now was heading toward my tree. Carrie was floating next to me, “I can help. I want to… plus this is my life too.”
I whispered, “I know.” I pulled the hilt off the strap that had held it to my leg. Then I held it out like it was a sword, “I am ready.”
With that Carrie became a swirling cloud of dark mass. The dark cloud came to the hilt, it shrank and became dense. Once again the magic sword was in my hand, with green lines of power. I looked down to see the werewolf climbing the tree.
He jumped up to my branch. He growled with spit dripping from his foaming mouth. I calmly moved forward and with three quick, well rehearsed moves; I sliced his arm and his leg, right behind his knee.
The wolf yelped in pain. It was hard for the werewolf to remain balanced with the leg wound I had given him. Finally
, I knocked him off the branch with a kick, sending him falling back first.
The two wolves moved as the werewolf crashed upon the ground. He was shortly followed by me landing a few feet away. The wolves were taken by surprise. I side stepped one of the wolves putting him between me and the other one. Running my sword sideways, I stabbed him right through his chest. With an upward pull, I sliced him open. The sword rang as the wolf fell dead upon the ground.
The other wolf attacked, but I grabbed his mouth from under his chin. Letting my claws dig into his jaw I twisted his head to one side. Then with my sword hand, I removed his head.
With my second sight I could see that the wolf that had treed Michael had turned its attentions upon me. It ran at me with its mouth open, without even turning around I dropped to one knee. The animal was about to bite upon my neck, but I thrust my sword up and over my shoulder sending the blade into the wolf's open mouth. The blade ran straight through his
head, his whole body went limp. The beast slowly slid off the blade as he fell to the ground.
As I was killing these three wolves, the werewolf had got up. Seeing me, he ran away, with a limp. Michael walked up behind me, “You are my hero.”
I thought he was teasing me, but when I turned to face him, he was staring at me… like it had been the first time he had ever seen me. I laughed nervously, “Hero, really… I mean yeah right.”
Michael reached up, gently touched my face. With no humor in his face or voice, “No, really… you have saved my life… twice.”
Before I could respond, Alice, Ezra, Charlotte and Clyde flashed up. Ezra announced, “Well counting these dead wolves that makes seventeen. Your two werewolves are standing next to the wizard in that clearing.” He pointed to where the cabins encircled; there was a small clearing in the middle of the cabins. I could make out three men standing in the center.
Charlotte
, with a big smile and said, “You two will have to wait until later. We have a job to finish.”
Alice commanded, “Michael stay here, the rest of us will follow Melabeth.”
“Where did you get that from?” Ezra asked, he was looking at my sword.
Alice answered for me, “Spirit weapon, she’ll have to explain it later. Her revenge is at hand.”
It truly was, there stood all the men who had raped and killed me. My revenge was close, but I had a feeling that they weren’t standing there waiting to die. I moved forward, “Ok, let’s finish this.”
Clyde roared and yelled, “We
'll drain them all for what they did to Bonnie.”
We moved past one of the cabins, I was standing in front the rest of my vampire kin. They stood on either side of me, fanning back like a V. We moved forward upon their position when I ran into an invisible wall. I looked upon the ground, there laid a circle of small rocks that encircled the mage and werewolves.
Alex challenged, “I don’t think I will be inviting any of you in. Do you?”
Charlotte mocked, “Is this how you plan to save yourself?”
“Not hardly…” Alex stopped answering her. He was staring at me; no he was staring at my sword. “Oh, I see, you have read the book. Well, I have read it too.”
Before I could respond
, the wizard lifted his staff and uttered some words. My sword started to ring and shake. I knew that sword was Carrie screaming when the blade rang, she was in pain.
I yelled at no one in particular, “What’s going on? Carrie… you all right?” Of course the sword did not answer me; instead it exploded into a pile of black ash. Even the hilt turned to dust. I knew that he had killed Carrie. I screamed at Alex, “I will kill you for that.”
Alex laughed, “Oh, did the ghost mean something to you?”
Alice said, “Come on let’s play.”
Alex’s face darkened, “Couldn’t agree more.”
With that the wizard slammed the bottom of his staff upon the ground, when he lifted it up the top of the staff was ablaze. I had a hard time even looking at him; I felt my skin start burning. I knew this spell
, it was the same one that David’s mother had used on me. It was a spell used by hunters and normally cast from a cross so it would seem to be the power of God was attacking us.
All the vampires took a step back, but that was not the end of Alex’s attack. The ground began to tremble as vines ripped from the earth. They were trying to wrap themselves upon us, I quickly moved away dodging the serpent like plants. I saw in my second sight as the plants got a hold of Charlotte, she fought to get free.
Alex muttered more magic words and a fireball came from his staff. The fireball flew through the air like a missile slamming into Charlotte. She burst in flames screaming as she burned to death. Ezra yelled out, “NOOO!!!”
Alice grabbed him, “We must move away.” She
pulled Ezra away from the vines and his love.
Without another word we all flashed away running back to where Michael was standing. We were surrounded by the bodies of the fallen wolves, but the vines didn’t look to be able to reach us. I looked over and could see Michael’s face, full of disbelief. Ezra looked like a statue, it was Clyde who broke the silence, “We must go. The sun will rise soon, let us leave and fight another day.”
Alice nodded, “Melabeth, I know it will be hard, but it is best we try again… later.”
Before I could work up a response a
green blast wave of energy passed by us. Alice asked, “What the hell was that?”
“I know,” Is all I c
ould say as the dead wolves began to move.
So Alex was practicing Necromancy, damn I wish David were here to counter this. The dead men not only rose from the ground and started putting themselves back together, but they also started to turn into wolves again.
I announced, “Ok, let’s go, maybe another time.”
We all ran into the woods, but I could hear the sound of the strangest howls. Alice stopped, “Ezra, Melabeth, we must fly.”
I looked at her with confusion, “But Michael can’t fly.”
Clyde added, “Neither can I.”
Michael said, “I can’t fly, but we can run.” He took off into the woods, closely followed by Clyde.
Ezra spoke with no emotion, “Alice and I will lead them away, and then take to the air, but Melabeth you would be better off with us; we will do what we can for them.”
Alice quickly added, "I cannot use my power on these undead creatures. Come with us."
I shook my head, “No, I will stay and help them. Just buy as much time as you can. I will see you tomorrow.”
Alice gave me a big hug, “Be safe… now run.” Alice still holding her doll lifted it away from her body. The legs were nothing but handles for her knives, but they were both gone. She reached up inside her doll; her hand came out holding a pin. She talked to her doll, “One last favor.” She tossed her doll in the direction of the undead wolves.
I took off, and they took off in another direction. I hurried to catch up with Michael and Clyde. This whole attack was turning into a nightmare. I heard a loud explosion from behind me, now I knew what she put in the dolls head.
