“Go ahead and pretend.  Look at me like I’m stupid.  I’ll sit back on my dumb ass and enjoy watching Vinnie do to you what he does to every girl.  You like giving head, Grace?  One taste is all you’ll get when it comes to Vinnie.”

Our voices alerted Anthony who came running into the lobby area.

“Carmella!”  He sounded really angry, “Why are you here? I told you I had a full day of seeing clients.”

“You seem to be having a full day of seeing clients EVERY DAY!”  She shouted the words ‘every day’.

I could see a fight brewing.  I didn’t even stop to put my purse in my desk.  I walked straight back to the conference room.  Vinnie’s office door was closed.  It was like an automatic shut down in this office when Carmella arrives.  All doors get closed.

I stayed in the conference room trying to calm myself down.  Why do I always have to be reminded of Vinnie’s sexual past?   If I hear Anthony walking back to his office with Carmella, before the clothes start to come off, I am running out the door to Starbucks.  I was so nervous thinking about it, I dropped my purse and all the contents spilled out on the floor.

Get a hold of yourself!

Even with the door closed, I could hear Carmella shouting.  Anthony’s voice was more mumbled.  He was obviously trying to calm her down.  For some reason, I had a feeling they wouldn’t be having their usual tryst.  Then I heard a door slam.  All was quiet.

Anthony opened the conference room door.  He had his hand full of files.

“Hi Grace.  Sorry about Carmella’s interruption.  These are all new clients.  I need you to set up their billing accounts.”

“Of course, Anthony.”  I was so glad for something to do at that moment.

I wouldn’t see Jamie today.  I was dying to talk to him.  He had a training scheduled at the company in Westchester that supplies our technical equipment.    Jamal wouldn’t be in either.   He had meetings onsite at the insurance companies all day.  That left me, Vinnie, and Anthony is the office.

I tried to get my head into my work.  It helped that the phone was very busy.  At one point, Anthony came flying out.

“Dammit!  I almost forgot.  I promised I’d pick up my mom at the airport.  I’ll be back in an hour Grace.  We do have the Kessel client coming in.  I should be back by then.”

“No problem, Anthony.  You might want to calm down before you get behind the wheel.”  I smiled at him.

Now I was alone in the office with Vinnie.  He kept his door closed.  His words kept going back and forth in my head.

She is too innocent.  I can’t be with someone like her.

Someone like me.  Even though I wasn’t a virgin, I guess to a man like Vinnie, I was an innocent.  I had no experience when it came to relationships.  I had no idea how to please a man sexually.

Hell, I didn’t know how to please myself.

Chapter 18

The Kessel client was early.  I had heard details of this case from Jamie.  It was one of those we needed to discuss over coffee.  Jamie loved the cases that involved scandalous sex.  He wanted to make sure that Anthony or Vinnie didn’t hear him gossiping.  So whenever we went out for coffee, he always had a few stories he knew would entertain me.   I loved hearing about these particular cases.  It was like a reality show being played out right in front of me.

Veronica Harris- Kessel was a society woman.  She had inherited a fortune as the only child of a newspaper tycoon.  As with any marriage where one side has an obscene amount of money, a prenuptial agreement was put in place.  If there were ever to be a divorce, Mr. John Kessel was entitled to some wealth based on the number of years they were married.

Mr. and Mrs. Kessel were about to hit their tenth anniversary.  Veronica Harris-Kessel was no longer in love with her dear husband.  She had also decided she didn’t want to pay out the increase in his alimony if they hit their 10 year anniversary.  Per their prenuptial agreement, the only way Veronica can avoid the pay out is if she can prove infidelity.

What makes this story so fascinating is that the infidelity only has to be proved on Mr. Jack Kessel.  According to Jamie, Veronica Harris-Kessel had been very forthcoming that she has a lover.  There is nothing in the prenuptial agreement that states that Jack Kessel has any grounds to collect based on Veronica’s unfaithfulness.   I am not a lawyer but I assume that Jack Kessel’s lawyers could do something with that information.  Apparently, this was not a concern of Veronica Kessel.  Catching her husband in the act was her only goal.

This was the first time I saw Mrs. Harris-Kessel in person.  She wasn’t a tall woman, only a few inches taller than me.  She was dressed impeccably.  I’m not familiar with designers since I’ve never had that kind of money to spend.   For some reason, though, the way she dressed just reeked of money.  She had on a gold shiny mini skirt with a matching blazer and a low cut white blouse.  Her matching stiletto heels were so high, I wouldn’t have been able to walk across the room without falling.   She wasn’t rail thin but then she wasn’t fat either which I attribute it to her age.  I believe Jamie said she was in her 50’s.    Besides the fact that she wore too much makeup, she was an attractive woman.

She looked me up and down when she entered and then smiled.  I guess my appearance was to her satisfaction.

“Hello.  I am Mrs. Jack Harris-Kessel.  I have an appointment to meet with Anthony Colluci.”

“Yes Mrs. Harris-Kessel.  Unfortunately, Anthony will be a few minutes late.  Would you like to sit and wait?”

She sighed as if waiting would be brutal.  “Well if I have to.”

“I’m sure he will be back any minute now.  Can I get you something to drink?”

Then her face lit up like it was Christmas.  Was she excited about something to drink?

“I met Anthony’s partner once.  Big fellow.  I mean BIG.” She emphasized with a devious smile.  “What’s his name?  Victor or something?”

“Vinnie Lewis.”  I answered curtly when I realized that she wasn’t excited about something to drink.

“Yes, that’s it.  Vinnie.  He is one well-equipped man.  Although that scar is a little scary.  Still, I could get used to those massive arms pulling me into bed.”  And she fanned herself as if to accent her point.

I wanted to ask her if she was fanning herself because her menopause had started but I did want to keep my job.

“Is he available to discuss my case?  I am in a hurry.”  She cooed.

“I’ll go check,
Mrs.
Harris-Kessel.”  With a little too much emphasis on the Mrs.

Vinnie’s door was still closed.  Memories came back when I had to tell him that Dolores woman wanted to see him.  I still remember how irate he became when I couldn’t get rid of her.  I wonder if he was going to feel the same way about Veronica Harris-Kessel.

I knocked softly.

“Come in.”  answered Vinnie’s gruff voice.

“Hey Vinnie.  There is a client here, Mrs. Veronica Harris-Kessel.”

He rolled his eyes.  “Anthony is supposed to meet with her. Tell her to wait.”  There was no emotion showing on his face.  He turned back to face his computer.

I guess we were back to square one.  I don’t why I assumed we could be anything more than colleagues.  This was the Vinnie from my first day.  Cold and distant.

Well that is fine with me!  I don’t need a man who intimidates me.  All he ever wants is blowjobs from women anyway.  He probably would do nothing to please me if I got into a sexual relationship with him.  I felt a strange surge of power by his aloofness.

“Hello?  I’m still standing here!”  I raised my voice.

He turned back around.  I thought I saw his mouth curl up slightly.  “Yes, Grace?”

“She wants to meet with you NOW.  She said she can’t wait for Anthony.  You’re the boss.  You can deal with it.”  And I stormed off.

I could be just as snappy as him.  Score one for strong confident woman.

I walked back to my desk and was about to tell Veronica that Vinnie would be out promptly.  Then I heard him behind me.  Veronica stood up a little too excitedly.

Before I could sit down, Vinnie grabbed my arm.  He pulled me closer and with his hot breath against my ear, he whispered “We’ll talk about your insubordination later, Grace.”

My body instantly reacted.

He let go of my arm and turned to Veronica.  “Hello Mrs. Harris-Kessel.  Anthony will be here shortly.  We can go over the updates on your case in my office while we wait.”

“Yes.”  She replied in a breathy voice that I did not hear earlier. “I have concerns I need to discuss. “  Then she looked him up and down in an obvious way.  I was embarrassed by her boldness.

Vinnie had no reaction.  He just led her down the hall to his office without another glance at me.

I looked at the time and saw a few minutes to three.  Thank you god!  It was the first time I wanted to run out of work.  I don’t know what Vinnie meant by discussing my insubordination.  I heard him say to Anthony he wasn’t going to pursue any relationship with me because of my innocence.  Then, he flirts with me.  Or, maybe he was just being a playful co-worker.  Either way, I quickly discovered that his close proximity to me gets my heart racing.  I needed to get away fast.

During my walk, my cell phone buzzed.  I saw it was Eve on the caller Id.  My mood immediately lifted as I was looking forward to talking to a friendly voice.  After I answered, the call was dropped.   I knew it was on Eve’s end.  Sometimes it was frustrating to talk to her because the reception was so spotty on the reservation.  She usually walks around and calls back in a few minutes.   I figured I’d be back at the dorm by then.  As I put my cell back in my purse, I realized my dorm key was missing.

I knew exactly where it had to be.  Just then the image of all the contents of my purse spilling out on the conference room floor came back to me.   I had been so nervous about the X rated Anthony and Carmella show, I probably forgot to check the floor for everything that fell out.    Now I had to go back and get it.  The Dorm Director was meaner than the witch from the wizard of Oz.  There was no way I was asking her to let me in my room without a key.  I heard her helping a student in his room when he locked himself out.  She lectured him for fifteen minutes on how to be responsible and mature.  It was excruciating to listen to.

Also on the keychain was my key to the front door of A and V.  I hadn’t been gone that long so I’m sure either Anthony or Vinnie was still there.  Maybe if they were meeting with the trust fund floozy, I could just sneak in and grab my keys without anyone noticing.  Especially Vinnie.

I speed walked back to A and V.  The office door was still unlocked.  Yes!

As soon as I entered, I heard strange noises.  I immediately tensed up.  It sounded like an animal. I slowly walked down the hall towards Vinnie’s office.  His light was no longer on.  Then with sick realization, I recognized the sounds as human.  Human grunting.  It was unmistakably a woman’s voice.  As her grunts became more high pitched, I knew exactly what was happening.

Vinnie?  How could he?  He flirted with me and less than an hour later he was fucking Veronica?    Was he that callous and removed from his emotions?  Unfortunately, I think I already knew the answer to that question.  I was confused though.  I thought he only demanded head from a woman.   I wasn’t entirely sure but it sounded like the full act.

I was standing in the hall paralyzed when I heard the sound of flesh slapping flesh.  Veronica began to shout.

“Harder!  Oh, that’s it honey. I knew you had a big fucking dick!”

What do I do?  I wanted my keys, damn it!  As I inched forward I realized that Vinnie and Veronica weren’t in Vinnie’s office.  Were they doing it in the conference room?

Where my fucking keys were?  That would just be my luck.

I don’t know how my legs were letting me inch forward.  I was disgusted yet overcurious about seeing Vinnie.  I knew right then that there was no way in hell I would ever consider anything more than friendship with him after this stunt.  Maybe that was what was propelling me forward.  I’d never see him intimately.  I’d make sure of that now.  Yet I wanted to peek.  I had too many fantasies about him.  I wanted one quick view.

I saw a light on at the end of the hall.  I crept towards the conference room and then realized that the light that was on was in Anthony’s office not the conference room.

At that point, I heard Veronica’s full force scream which snapped my head towards Anthony’s office.  There she was bending over the back of Anthony’s desk.  She looked close to fully clothed.  Her skirt was hiked up.

It was Anthony pounding into her from behind.

I felt a strange sense of relief that it wasn’t Vinnie.

Anthony was also fully clothed except for his pants around his ankles.   Since Veronica was bent over the back of Anthony’s desk, that meant that Anthony, too, had his back to me.  They couldn’t see me so it should be easy to run into the conference room and get my keys.  But then, Anthony did something I’d never seen before.  He brought up his hand and smacked Veronica’s ass.  Hard!  She yelped.

Jesus, please don’t tell me he’s attacking her.

Then he asked her in a savage voice I had never heard come out of him.  “You want that again, you rich dirty slut?”

“Yes!”  She screamed “Give it to me now!”

She
wants
him to hit her?

Anthony started slapping her bare ass in a continual motion while he fucked her from behind.  I stood there stunned while I watched her ass turn a bright red.  She kept shouting for more.

Anthony grimaced and grabbed her hips roughly with one last motion.   I knew then he was done.  I turned to flee and ran right into the wall.  Actually, it wasn’t a wall.  It was Vinnie’s chest.

Vinnie grabbed my arms and I looked up at his face.  I was surprised I found my voice but even at that moment, some conscious reasoning told me I needed to give him an explanation.

“My keys.”  I barely croaked out. “I left them in the conference room.”

Then we both turned our heads when we heard Veronica’s voice.
