“Oh yeah?” I asked, not sure where this was going.

“Let’s call your sister together.”

I nodded. “Okay, it would be nice to hear what she’s got to say. We’ll do that.”

She handed me the phone. “Now. No time like the present.”

I took the phone. While I wouldn’t have admitted it to Sheila at her best, I had memorized the number. However, in her current state, I doubted that she would notice. I pressed the buttons and hit the call button.

The phone whirred twice before it picked up on the other end.

“Hello,” I said.“Susan?”
