“Hey.”

She
squealed in surprise and tried to jump to her feet, hitting her head on the
corner of the desk in the process. “Damn,” she gasped, sinking back onto her
knees and holding her aching head.

“Are
you okay?” Zach asked, coming over and kneeling beside her.

“Yes.”
She glared at him through blurred eyes. “You might have given me some warning
you were around. It’s almost midnight.”

“I
know. What are you still doing here?”

Still
rubbing her head, she leaned back and breathed until the pain had dispersed.
Then she said, “What does it look like? I’m cleaning my dad’s office.”

“Why
are you doing it now?”

“Why
not?”

“Because
you’re all by yourself here in the middle of the night. What if someone broke
in?”

“No
one is going to break in. The doors are locked. I was fine.” She looked at him
closely for the first time, recognizing that his eyes were rather bleary and he
still hadn’t shaved. He didn’t look like he’d had a good day. “What are you
doing here anyway?”

“I
saw your car and stopped to see if you were all right.”

“Why
wouldn’t I be all right?”

“Your
car was here in the middle of the night. I was just checking.”

“Do
you always drive around, looking for my car?”

He
pushed his hand through his hair, rumpling it hopelessly. “Not usually.”

She
was starting to feel a little excited again, which was totally wrong. Just
because he’d stopped to see her and looked so adorably bemused didn’t mean
anything.

She
remembered his smile at Cassandra earlier in the evening.

The
memory provoked her into saying something, before she could think it through.
“I thought you’d be with Cassandra.”

He
frowned. “Why would I be with her?”

“I
don’t know. I saw you with her earlier.”

“I
just ran into her on the street and was being friendly. We weren’t together.”

“Oh.
I thought you were.” She dropped her eyes.

She
heard him suck in a soft breath. “Are you jealous?”

“Of
course not.”

“It
sounds like maybe you are.”

“I
was just asking. You were always into her.”

“That
was years ago.” He reached out, like he was going to touch her, but then he
dropped his hand. “You were the one I was kissing last night.”

She’d
raised her eyes, but it was a mistake. Now she couldn’t look away. His eyes
were soft and hot and excited.

When
she didn’t answer, he murmured, “You told me it couldn’t happen again.”

“It
can’t. It was wrong.”

“It
wasn’t wrong.” He cupped her face, exactly as she wanted him to. “It was right.
Nothing has ever been so right.”

She
knew she shouldn’t, but there was no way she could resist. She leaned toward
him, exactly as he tilted his head down toward her.

Their
lips met, and it didn’t feel wrong.

It
didn’t feel wrong at all.

Saturday

Once
they started kissing, it was as if an unstoppable force had possessed them.

Missy
was immediately urgent, opening her mouth to him and clutching at his
shoulders. Zach seemed to feel the same way. He groaned at the back of his
throat as he ravaged her mouth, and he stepped her back toward the edge of the
desk.

She
grabbed fistfuls of his hair as he lifted her up against the desk, so she was
closer aligned to his mouth. She was too short, though, and no amount of
stretching on her part could allow him to reach her without bending over a lot.
She whimpered in frustration as their lips broke apart every time he tried to
adjust his position.

Her
body pulsed with need and excitement, but she couldn’t hold back a little
sliver of amusement when he tried to caress her and ended up losing his grip,
causing her to slip down his body abruptly.

Both
of them grunted, and she said, “This was easier when we were on a couch.”

“Couch.
Right.” He looked dazed, as if he was already drowning in the kiss. But he
glanced through the door into the main room of the shop building. “I’d rather
not do this in your dad’s office, anyway.”

“Good
point.”

Before
she could regain her feet, he swung her up into his arms and carried her out
the door and toward the old couch in a back room of the building that was
almost never used.

She
wrapped her arms around his neck and tried not to let the gesture go to her
head. “You don’t have to carry me.”

Zach’s
eyes were almost awed—an expression that made her heart pound. “If you’re going
to talk again about how I’m not very strong, I don’t want to hear it.”

“What?”
Her eyes widened as he lowered her to the couch. “What are you talking about?
Of course, you’re strong.”

He
smiled as she pulled him down on top of her. “Weren’t you talking just a few
days ago about how Silas Vance would kick my butt?”

“Of
course, he’d kick your butt. That doesn’t mean you’re not strong. It just means
that man is a mountain.” She reached up to stroke his warm face. “Of course,
you’re strong. You’re the most amazing guy I’ve ever known.”

His
expression relaxed with obvious appreciation. “You think so?”

“Yeah.
But that doesn’t mean you could take Silas Vance.”

“I
don’t want to talk about Silas right now.”

“Me
either.” She pulled him back down into a kiss, and soon the conversation was
forgotten.

His
tongue plunged into her mouth, teasing hers, and he slid his hand under her
body until he was cupping her bottom. She clutched at the fabric of his shirt
as she arched beneath him and tried to wrap her legs around him.

Her
skirt got in the way until Zach yanked it up for her. Then she was able to rub
herself against him as their kiss grew deeper and more passionate.

Before
she knew what was happening, she felt his fingers at her inner thigh and then
under the edge of her panties.

She
gasped and arched up dramatically when she felt one of his fingers slipping
inside her. She was already hot and wet—so quickly it was almost embarrassing.

“What’s
the matter?” Zach muttered, panting against her neck. “Is this too fast?”

“No.”
She arched up again, trying to get his finger to move inside her. “It’s just
right. Just…right.”

He
let out a breath in what was obviously release and joined the one finger with
another. He kissed her again as he moved his hand inside her until the
sensations were too intense for her to handle.

She
broke her mouth away from his and pressed her face against his shoulder, her
body tightening deliciously.

“That’s
right,” he said hoarsely. “I feel you getting tighter. You’re going to come,
aren’t you?”

She
whimpered some kind of response, the sound smothered by his shirt.

“Don’t
hide it,” he said, his thumb finding her clit. “Let me see.”

Every
instinct in her body was telling her to hide her face, tighten down around the
motion of his hand. She was rocking shamelessly, trying to ride his fingers.

“Let
me see, Missy.”

“I
can’t,” she gasped, momentarily biting down around his shoulder.

“Yes,
you can. I want to see you.”

She
was almost there, but a spark of something broke through enough for her to pant
out, “I’m sorry…but my orgasm…isn’t about you.”

This
obviously surprised him because he made a choking sound and broke the rhythm of
his fingers. Fortunately, he didn’t stop though, and he said in breathless
amusement. “Of course, it’s not. You come however you want.”

She
whimpered again in relief, affection flooding her chest with the physical
sensations. She clawed at his back and bit down on his shoulder again, stifling
the sound as she cried out in pleasure as the climax finally broke.

Zach
was murmuring out words of encouragement, although her mind was too blurred for
her to work out exactly what they were. He kissed her again as her body started
to relax, and she wrapped her legs around him again, wanting him as close as
possible.

He
was hard in his pants—she could feel his arousal very obviously as he pushed
his pelvis against her middle. She loved that he was so into her, that he
wanted her so much, that he was clearly having a hard time holding onto his
control.

As
they kissed, she reached between their bodies so she could undo the button and
zipper of his trousers, sliding her fingers down so she could caress him.

“Sweet…Jesus,”
he gasped, when she touched the bare skin of his erection. “Is this really
happening?”

“Yeah.
Yeah, I think it is.”

“You
have no idea how many times I’ve…I’ve…”

“You’ve
what?”

“I’ve
dreamed about it.”

She’d
been too scared to even let herself fantasize. She’d had no idea what Zach
would be like in bed—that he’d be so passionate and sweet and earnest at the
same time.

She
was about to yank up her skirt more when she remembered something. “We need a
condom.”

His
whole body jerked. “Shit.”

“Do
you have one?”

“Not
with me. Oh, wait, in my truck.”

She
whimpered, still holding his erection in her hands. “That’s far away.”

“I
know,” he groaned. Very slowly, he started to pull away from her. “Give me a
minute. I’ll go get one.”

He
was in bad shape. Worse than her. At least she’d already come once. She slid
out from beneath him and winced as she stood up, the muscles in her thighs
protesting. “I’ll go. Is it locked?”

“No.
Check the glove box.”

She
ran out and returned as quickly as she could. Zach was sitting on the couch
with his pants undone, his eyes closed and his head leaning back.

Her
heart exploded with feeling at the sight of him, something about him so real,
so human. So loved.

She
lowered herself back onto the couch and pulled him over her again by his shirt.
He came willingly, smiling as she unwrapped the condom packet.

“Hopefully,
that’s the last interruption. I might embarrass myself if I have to wait much
longer.”

“That
might be fun.”

“It
would not be fun.” He groaned as she rolled the condom on over his erection.
“It would be a real letdown, after all this anticipation.”

“How
much anticipation are we talking about?”

He
moved aside her panties and positioned himself at her entrance with his hand as
she parted her thighs for him. “
A lot
of anticipation.”

She
smiled up at him. “Good.”

He
gazed down at her for a minute, his eyes so full of something deep that she
couldn’t possibly look away. Then he leaned down to kiss her, and he kept
kissing her as he pushed himself inside.

She
gasped against his lips as she relaxed and tried to adjust to the penetration.
It was full and intense and so good she made an embarrassing whimpering sound.

“Shit,”
he breathed through clenched teeth. “Oh, shit.”

She
loved how overwhelmed he sounded. She managed to soften herself around him
enough to be comfortable again, and then she wrapped her legs around his
thighs, causing both of them to groan at the change in penetration.

“Perfect.
You’re perfect, Missy.” He pressed a few unfocused kisses around her mouth, his
eyes tightly closed.

It
was too good to be real. Too much of what she’d always wanted. Zach. With her
like this. So open and vulnerable. So completely wrapped up in her.

For
a moment, it was terrifying—that this might not be real, might not mean what
she wanted it to mean. She whimpered against him and ducked her head against
his shoulder. He was still wearing his shirt, and it smelled like him. It was
warm like him.

“You
okay?” Zach rasped.

“Yeah.
Good. So good.”

He
let out a loud exhalation and started to thrust.

He
moved with hard pushes, not pulling out very far but managing to stimulate
every part of her. She kept her legs wrapped around him and fumbled until she
got her hands under his shirt so she could claw at the bare skin of his back.

At
first, he kissed her again, the motion of his tongue matching the rhythm of his
hips. But soon both of them were panting too loudly to hold the kiss as their
motion intensified.

He
was watching her. She knew he was, although her head kept tossing from side to
side as another climax began to build inside her.

It
felt like he could see right through her—all of what she’d always wanted but
could never admit to. She’d never felt so naked, so completely exposed, but
there was nowhere she could hide.

Zach
knew her. All of her.

And
she wanted him to know her that way.

“Can
you come, baby?” he asked, his body visibly tense as he rode her even harder.
He wasn’t going to last for much longer.

She
hid her face in his shoulder again as his words pushed her closer to the edge.
“Yeah. Yeah.”

“Oh,
shit, Missy,” he gasped. “You’re so tight and hot. Nothing has ever felt so
good as you.”

The
words surprised her so much she arched her neck, bringing her face away from his
shoulder, letting out a loud sobbing sound as she came all around him.

“There
it is,” he muttered, obviously losing control as her body shook helplessly.
“Good…so good.”

He
was coming too, before she’d even started to come down. They rocked together in
an eager rush as their bodies took what they needed.

Then
Zach was resting on top of her, his body hot and relaxed and filled with a rush
of nameless emotion—so strong she could feel it radiating off him.

He
gave her a few clumsy kisses as she stroked his head and back. Her legs were
still wrapped around him. She wasn’t yet ready to let him go.

“I
can’t believe we did that,” she murmured, as soon as she was able to speak.

“It
was so good. Better than anything.”

Her
chest felt like it might overflow. “Yeah. Yeah, it was.”

“I
should take care of the condom.”

“Yeah.”

Neither
of them moved.

“Pretty
soon,” Zach said, sounding totally wiped out.

“Yeah.”

He
groaned and raised his head, brushing one more kiss against her lips. “If I get
up, you’re not going to disappear, are you?”

“I
don’t think I can move quite yet.”

“Good.”

He
heaved himself up to take care of the condom, and then he pulled his clothes
back together. Missy just lay on the couch in a replete sprawl.

He
stood gazing down at her for a minute.

“What?”
she asked at last.

“You’re
so beautiful.”

“I
thought I looked like a kid.”

He
shook his head as he lowered himself beside her and pulled her into his arms.
“Definitely not.”

She
sighed in pleasure. “Good.”

“I
am a little disappointed that I didn’t get to see you naked.”

She
giggled. “Next time, don’t be in such a rush.”

He
gently pulled her top off over her head and then unclasped her bra. “Why wait
until next time?” he said with a smile.

His
expression changed as he stared down at her bare breasts. “Shit,” he breathed
at last.

“That’s
good, isn’t it?”

“Very
good.” He leaned down to kiss her right breast and then her left—nothing
urgent, just sweet and gentle.

After
a minute, he raised his head and pulled her against his chest again, holding
her tightly, like she was something special.
