’d tried to picture ourselves all week and now the challenge was telling Fabian what I wanted to do, what we hoped to achieve and wondering what his reaction would be.

Firstly Fabian, I need you to remember that I never asked to be turned vampire. In fact I came to you to ask you to wipe my memory so I wouldn’t have to go through the pain of every day without Dominick in my life. We wish to leave this life behind and all that are in it and start fresh overseas where no one knows us. So I guess, my question to you is, can you do that? Will you agree to our request?”

Fabian stared at me for a moment. “
You seriously expect me to believe that you Allegra, a reincarnated witch, hell bound on revenge for what I did to your daughter years ago would be happy to do nothing, just get up and leave?”

I nodded. “
That’s exactly what I’m saying. Maybe that’s not what any of you expected me to say, but it happens to be the truth. I don’t want anything from you, none of you. How well have you thought this through Allegra? What do you tell your friend Cassandra? Any other humans in your life who are significant to you? Do you expect them to just accept your disappearance without question? Will you tell any of them of your intention to simply up and leave and how do you do that without revealing what you are because you know that you cannot do that. That would result in instant death should you do that. It might be harder for me to kill you given your power over me, but I will find a way little one, make no mistake.” Fabian’s tone held clear warning and I had no doubt that he meant it.

I am aware of that and of course you know that Dominick is too. I don’t need to give friends of mine lengthy reasons to justify us leaving and the bottom line is they just have to accept what they are told. I won’t be around for them to question anyway. I can keep in touch with Cassie via phone and internet and the only other person who would obviously notice my absence is my editor. I can deal with him by phone and email too. My writing has made both him and I very wealthy so I’m not sure I would be interested in writing any more books anyway. Without more books Frank isn’t going to be too interested in me.” I tried to assure him.

“
I will need time to think about what you’re saying to me little one. What you are asking is not unreasonable, surprising, but not impossible. I just have trouble believing that you’re intentions are as innocent as you’re telling me. I know if I was suddenly given tremendous power, I’d be wanting to use it.”

I laughed briefly but it was without humour. “
Not everyone is like you though Fabian. I simply want to spend the rest of my life with the man I love. I have no desire for power or control. Fuck, I’ll put that in writing if you don’t believe me. Put stipulations in a contract that I lose my tattoo that allows me to walk in the daylight, anything, I don’t know, anything that will reassure you that I want nothing more than your permission and blessing for Dominick and I to leave.”

“
Very well little one. You do plead your case passionately. Now if things had been different, I would have made just one demand of you.” His eyes roamed over me and I felt Dominick tense when he too knew exactly what that demand would have been. That was another reason for moving. It would take temptation away. I would not be available for Fabian to fuck nor would I see him for him to tempt me.

Well, if you need time to think then Dominick and I will take our leave. I’m hungry and I’m still trying to learn all I can about mind control. How long do you think you will need before you have an answer for us Fabian?” I asked.

His eyes moved over me befor

With a quick bow to them all, we left.

When we were driving again Dominick reached over and took my hand. “
