“I’m sorry.”

He shook his head. “I’m not. It was a constant chore to try and please her without knowing what I wasn’t doing right.” He stuffed the rest of his onion rings into his mouth, wiped his hands on a napkin, and glanced around. “I’m still hungry.”

“Me, too,” said Evan.

“Want me to make popcorn?”

Evan grinned. “Now you’re talking. But don’t you have any more questions for us?”

She rose from the sofa. “Plenty of them. I’ll be right back. Do you guys want anything to drink besides water?”

“What else do you have?” asked Thayer.

“Well, I have a bottle of Silver Patrón that someone at work gave me for Christmas, but I haven’t opened it.”

“Hell, Cherilyn. Open it.”

The look on his face made her laugh. “Are you sure? This is probably a really bad combo. Nan’s food, microwave popcorn, and tequila.”

“More than likely we’ll all be sick by morning.”

“Then what are we waiting for?” asked Evan.

When Cherilyn returned with a bowl of popcorn and the bottle of tequila, she placed both on the coffee table. “Don’t eat it all before I get back with the glasses.”

“Hey,” said Thayer. “Who’s the sub here?”

She giggled and went into the kitchen to get glasses, then settled between them again. Thayer poured them each a shot, and then he raised his glass. “To bad food, great booze, and Bette Davis.”

“Hear, hear,” said Evan. After he took a sip of the tequila, he closed his eyes and made a sexy noise in the back of his throat. “That is fucking good. Okay. Cherilyn, what other questions do you have?”

“Well, now I know Thayer’s recent past. What about yours?”

He sighed. “Her name was Jessica Winters, and she was my sub for about two years. But she didn’t really care for the lifestyle. We were so on again, off again that I might as well have been alone. I was never sure what would happen from day-to-day with Jess.”

“It sounds like you each went through similar situations.”

Evan shrugged. “Not all women who become curious about this end up liking it. That’s why it’s important to take the time to get to know people.” He gave her a sheepish grin. “Guess we really didn’t do that with you, did we?”

“Well…no, but I don’t feel like you pushed me or anything. I’m just a bit overwhelmed, and what we learned tonight at the police station didn’t help.”

Evan pulled her close with one arm. “Hey, we are not going to let anything happen to you, okay? We’ll figure this out. Chad and Sean are really great detectives.”

“I know.” She shook her head and took another sip of tequila, letting the warmth thaw some of the chilly fear that had wrapped around her heart. “I don’t want to talk about that. Let’s eat popcorn, get drunk on tequila, and watch the rest of this movie.”

“A woman after my own heart,” said Thayer, raising his glass again and giving her a wink.

“I’ll drink to that.” Evan raised his glass, too, and gave her a look that was nothing short of admiration.

Chapter Twelve

Cherilyn woke with a headache and a taste in her mouth that made her wonder if they’d accidentally eaten cardboard last night. She knew they’d watched three movies, and that half the bottle of tequila had been empty by the time they all crawled into her bed. The guys had fallen asleep quickly, which was just as well, because right now everything hurt. If she’d had more sex last night she wouldn’t be able to walk today.

She crawled over Thayer’s half-naked body and tiptoed to the bathroom. When she emerged, both men were still asleep. Cherilyn smiled as memories of being with them at Maddox’s house filled her mind. Last night she’d told them she was overwhelmed, and that was the truth, but right now all she wanted to do was have a repeat of that scene in the private room upstairs.

A shiver ran down her spine as she recalled what it had been like to have her pussy and ass paddled and flogged, and how it had felt to have a dick in her pussy and mouth at the same time. But despite the eroticism of that experience, everything hurt this morning. Not only the muscles in her arms and legs, but her asshole felt bruised, the inside of her mouth was tender, and her pussy was sore. But it was a sweet, delicious ache. The kind that only came from great sex and plenty of it.

She went downstairs and made coffee then cleaned up the mess in the living room from last night. She didn’t even mind straightening up after them. Thayer and Evan hadn’t left her alone, and one evening of indulging in food and drink wasn’t going to turn them all into gluttons. It had been exactly what she’d needed last night, and somehow they’d known that.

A cell phone rang, and she searched around for the source. It was Thayer’s, and the caller ID said “Dave Pell.” The gym manager.
The gym!
“Oh, fuck,” she whispered. What time was it? She raced upstairs with the phone but it went to voice mail before she could rouse Thayer.

“It’s almost seven,” she said. “Don’t you guys open at six on Saturdays?”

Thayer’s eyes finally looked like they were focusing. He took the phone from her and just stared at it.

“Do you want me to call Dave back for you?”

He shook his head. “No. No, I’m okay.”

“I’m making coffee. Do you want something to eat?”

Thayer placed the phone on the nightstand and pulled her close. “You. I want to eat you.”

Cherilyn giggled. “Thayer, as delightful as that would be right now, shouldn’t you call Dave back? He’s probably wondering where you guys are.”

“Yeah. Okay.”

Cherilyn extricated herself from his embrace. “I’ll make breakfast.”

“Cherilyn, thank you.”

She stared into his stormy eyes, wishing they could simply spend the day in bed. All three of them. “Thayer, I don’t know how to thank you and Evan both for last night. All of it. Not only the club, but for staying here with me and making me laugh, and just hanging out. It was perfect.”

He held out his arms and she snuggled back into them. “You’re perfect,” he whispered.

“And you need some coffee. Wake up Evan, okay? I’ll wait for you both downstairs.” Cherilyn knew he was still half-asleep, but his comment unnerved her, just the same. She had to keep her emotions in check or this would end in disaster.

She busied herself by making scrambled egg whites with a few fresh veggies tossed in, and oatmeal. By the time she finished, both men strolled into the kitchen, dressed but looking groggy. She dished out the food and poured herself a cup of coffee. “I wasn’t sure if you two drank coffee.” There was still so much they didn’t know about each other.

“Please,” said Evan. “Black.”

“Same here.”

She poured them each a cup and then sat down to eat. “Was Dave calling about you guys not being there?”

Thayer nodded as he chewed his food. “This is good. Thank you, Cherilyn.”

“My pleasure. Is everything okay at the gym?”

“Yes.”

She sighed. “Oh good. I was hoping nothing else had happened.”

“Not today.”

“And we made a decision while you were fixing this delicious breakfast,” said Evan.

“What is it?”

“We’re going to let Dave handle the gym today. We want to take you somewhere.”

She stared from one man to the other, afraid to believe what he’d just said was true. “Are you sure you can do that?”

“Of course we can,” said Thayer. “We want to spend the day with you.”

“Thank you. I don’t know what to say.”

Evan grinned. “Say ‘yes,’ sub. Your Doms just made a request of you. And by the way, why have you not knelt before us this morning?”

Cherilyn hopped off her stool and dropped to her knees, bowing her head. She hoped the gesture would hide the fact that she was trying not to laugh. “I’m sorry, Sir.”

“We’ll forgive you. But from now on, we want you on your knees every morning, pledging your submission to us for the day. Is that understood?”

“Yes, Sir.” Every morning? Did they plan on moving in here with her?

“And I still owe you a punishment from yesterday,” said Thayer.

Cherilyn bit back a moan at the tone in his voice.

“Oh?” asked Evan, “What did she do?”

“She told me she’s eaten the food from Nan’s Place several times lately.”

“Um…” Evan’s tone had her raising her eyes to his face, and she struggled not to laugh at the sheepish grin on his face. “Yeah, so have I.”

Thayer gave him a look of incredulity, and then he began to laugh. “Well, there goes that training experience. Stand up, Cherilyn. You’re off the hook for that one.”

“Thank you, Sir. May I ask a question?”

“Yes.”

“Where are going today?”

Thayer grinned. “It’s a surprise. Dress casual and comfortable.” He slid off his stool. “Evan and I need to run home and change, and then Evan will drive both of us since I can’t fit three people in my car.”

Evan snorted. “Unless I drive it and you ride on the roof.”

“Fuck you.”

Cherilyn laughed as she gathered the breakfast dishes. She could get used to this. Very used to it.

After she showered and dressed in jeans and a light sweater, Evan and Thayer arrived in Evan’s car, and they drove to downtown Indianapolis. She sat in the front with Evan and turned sideways in her seat so that she could talk to both of them at once.

For the first twenty minutes of the trip, she kept trying to goad them into telling her where they were going, but after the third time Thayer told her that Evan would pull off the freeway and they’d take her into the woods and spank her with a switch from a tree if she didn’t stop, so she finally gave up.

No one talked about Chuck or the recent events at the gym. Rather, she asked them about their favorite childhood memories, what they most remembered about being at Ball State, and how they’d ended up starting the gym in Racy.

She learned that although they’d grown up on opposite sides of Racy, the two became friends in first grade and were inseparable from that point on. Thayer had spent a lot of time on the farm where Evan had grown up, and Evan loved going to Thayer’s house on Birch Lane for sleepovers, because he thought the house was so amazing. Birch Lane was where Maddox’s house stood now, although when Evan and Thayer were kids that lot was only woods.

“How did your parents feel about Maddox building his house right down the street from them to start a BDSM club?” she asked Thayer.

“I don’t think they were terribly interested one way or the other, to be honest. Evan and I were at school by then, so we missed all the local flak Maddox got.”

“I remember it well. I’d already graduated with my degree and was working at City Hall. Bernie was only a councilman then, and he tried like crazy to block it.”

Thayer and Evan both chuckled.

“When did you both get into the lifestyle?”

“In college,” said Evan. “There was an unofficial student BDSM organization, but a lot of members were simply curious and had no real experience or desire to get serious about it. We heard about Maddox’s club and contacted him to put us in touch with people in Muncie. Then when we graduated, we made plans to open the gym. Racy needed one, and neither of us wanted to leave the city. By then, we were driving back here on weekends anyway to go to Maddox’s club because we couldn’t find one we were comfortable in near the campus.”

“The space where the gym is used to be storefronts, and then apartments. But when there was a fire and most of them were destroyed, the owners didn’t want to rebuild, so we were able to buy the land.” Thayer glanced at her with almost an apologetic grin. “My parents gave us the capital to start it. And they refuse to let me pay it back, although we now have more than enough money to do so.”

“How sweet of them.”

He shrugged. “That’s how they are. I’m an only child.”

“That means he’s spoiled rotten.” Evan winked at her.

“Evan is jealous of me.” Thayer’s grin and tone of voice were filled with humor. “Always has been. I got all the hot chicks in school, and he’s never forgiven me for it.”

“Oh, right. Should I tell Cherilyn about batshit crazy Sandra Cain or do you want to?”

“Fuck you, Evan.”

Cherilyn laughed. “Oh, do tell. I can’t wait to hear this.”

“Watch it, sub. I have a large collection of paddles.” Cherilyn squirmed in her seat as she imagined them.

“Ignore him,” said Evan. “Sandra Cain was this girl in our Intro to Psych class. Thayer and I were freshman and, well, you know how it is when you go away from home for the first time. You do crazy stuff and get a bit carried away.”

“Like Evan did.”

“And you. Anyway…” Evan winked at Cherilyn again. “Sandra was cute and all, but it was soon apparent to both of us that she was also pretty weird. She was from some tiny town in western Ohio that no one had ever heard of, and would always make lame jokes that she’d applied to Ball State because she wanted to, you know, have a
ball
at college. Then she’d laugh like it was the funniest thing anyone had ever said.”

“She wasn’t that bad.”

Evan glanced in the rearview mirror. “Really? What about the time she burned the clothes she’d worn while on a date with you because she was trying to cast a spell to keep you?”

“What?” Cherilyn stared at Thayer with her mouth open.

He held up his hands. “I wasn’t there. I swear it. This is all secondhand knowledge. We don’t know anyone who actually saw her do this.”

“Secondhand knowledge from ten reliable sources. She apparently was trying to prevent Thayer from breaking up with her, and she took her clothes out to the woods and burned them. Ten people saw her do it.”

“Why did you ever break up with her? She sounds fascinating.”

Thayer gave her a warning look, but the corners of his mouth turned up.

“Because by then he’d finally used the brains in his head instead of his dick and realized she was fucking nuts.”

“Did her spell work?” she asked, grinning at Thayer.

He gave her a droll look. “Hysterical, Cherilyn. Absolutely hysterical. Your gorgeous ass won’t like it the next time I bend you over my knee.” The sudden look in his eyes made her moan softly. “Which will most definitely take place sometime today. That’s a promise.”
