“Sure,
but I’m going to hold you to that.”

Keva
was relieved when the doors opened on her floor. “See you tomorrow.” She gave
him a small wave and hurried away to her apartment before he could suggest some
other beverage.

Two
steps inside her place, she stopped with a frown. Music drifted down the
hallway from her bedroom. She didn’t own a radio and her mp3 player was broken.
Had she left the television on? And then recognition hit as she pushed her way
into her bedroom. It was violin music.

Sebastian—no,
Bastian
—sat on her bed dressed in only a pair of black briefs playing
the violin. When she’d entered the music had been poignant and heartbreaking,
but then he saw her and the melody changed. It became seductive, stroking,
spilling over her skin like an electrically charged blanket. She could feel it in
her limbs, fingertips, and her face. It skated over her scalp, a mental orgasm
that made her shiver.

His
hair fell over his muscled shoulders, a black silk curtain that swayed as he
moved the bow over the strings. It was a breathtaking sight. He was absorbed by
his music. His concentration pulled her in, holding her captive when she should
have been running. When he stopped playing, the final note resonated before
fading away.

“That
was beautiful. I’m no expert, but you’re very talented.”

He
grinned. “I think we’ve already established that.” He put down the violin, bowed,
and stood.

Keva
recalled Sebastian using similar words. His eyes were normal, the color of
twilight. “Sebastian?”

Inhaling,
he ran his fingers through his hair. “Guess again.”

“Just
checking.” She spotted his clothing at the foot of her bed. Snatching up his
shirt and jeans in one fluid motion, without a pause in her stride she marched
across the room to him and shoved them at his chest. “Get dressed and get out.”

He
allowed the jeans and shirt to drop to the floor. Capturing her wrists, he
tugged until their bodies were flush. Before the idea to fight him could fully
form, he cuffed both of her hands behind her back in one of his. “Now what?”

That
deep voice of his never failed to elicit a reaction from her. She knew what
she’d said she’d do, but she just couldn’t do it. But she could threaten it.
“Now I make you sing like a castrato.” She nudged her knee between his thighs.

Bastian
grinned. “And ruin our evening?” He took her mouth in a slow, gentle kiss, his
lips moving across hers. The tenderness seduced her in a way that force could
not. Before she knew it, she was opening her mouth to him as his tongue sought
entrance. She moaned at the languid, hot slide past her lips, and then against
her tongue. He used his other hand to tilt her head so that he could deepen the
kiss further. It went on and on, a heated, lazy seduction that had her pussy
pulsing and her nipples tightening. He ground his hips into hers, not bothering
to conceal how much he wanted her.

Sebastian
buried his face in her neck, his hot breath on her sensitive skin making her
shiver. “Last time was too fast, Keva. Tonight, I’m going to—” A loud knock
interrupted him. Keva gulped as he released her. She should be relieved.
Instead, she was disappointed that he didn’t finish his sentence. “Are you
expecting someone?”

Breathless
from his kiss, she shook her head. She made her way into the den on shaky legs.
Dr. Larsen smiled at her through the peephole. He held up a bag of coffee and
shook it from side to side. Keva suppressed a groan. She was hoping that he’d
taken her subtle hints that she wasn’t interested in him. He was a nice guy,
and she didn’t want to hurt his feelings.

She
opened the door. Dr. Larsen didn’t wait for an invite. He brushed past her. “I
found an entire bag of caramel-macchiato-flavored coffee. Don’t worry. It’s
decaf. I must have bought it when—” He broke off. Sebastian had followed her
out of the bedroom and leaned casually against her fridge, arms crossed over
his bare chest. “I-I’m sorry. I didn’t realize you had a guest.”

“Um,
yeah. Dr. Larsen, this is…” She wasn’t sure if she should give his name.

Sebastian
solved the conundrum for her, stepping forward, his hand outstretched.
“Bastian,” he said. The countertop separated the two men. Keva wondered if he
was still aroused. His lower body wasn’t visible. She noticed that Bastian
gritted his teeth as his hand made contact with Dr. Larsen’s. It must have been
painful for him in his sensitive state of heightened psychic energy.

“I
don’t want to interrupt,” Dr. Larsen said, his face red with embarrassment. He
sat the coffee down. “Maybe the two of you will enjoy this. Um, Keva, I’ll see
you tomorrow.” He backed toward the door.

“Sure,
of course.” She locked up after him.

“He
wants you,” Bastian stated.

“You
read his mind?”

“I
did. But I didn’t have to. His motives were pretty obvious.”

“He’s
just a friend.”

“He
came here with the intention of taking your friendship to the next level.” She
knew that and didn’t bother to deny it. “Are you interested in him? Am I
screwing something up for you?”

“Yes,”
she lied. She couldn’t use physical force to get rid of him. Perhaps emotional
ties would do the job. “I’ve always respected Dr. Larsen. He’s one of the
kindest men I know.”

He
studied her for a second before a grin stretched his lips. “What’s his first
name?”

“It’s…”
She floundered. She couldn’t recall ever hearing him called anything other than
Dr. Larsen. “Lars,” she lied at last.

Sebastian
laughed. “Lars Larsen?” He rounded the counter, closing in on her. “You
couldn’t come up with a more plausible name?”

“That’s
his name.”

“Mmm.”
He stroked his chin, appearing to consider it. The stubble on his jaw made a
slight rasping sound as his long fingers passed over it. “He’s practically twice
your age.”

“I
like mature men.” She stepped back as he crowded her. He advanced until her
back was against the wall. Keva glared at him. “Sebastian—”

“Keva,
I’m going to tell you a secret.” He lifted her, wedging his body between her
thighs. Dropping his head to hers so that their gazes locked, he said, “One
day, it’s going to be just you and me. You are mine. I’ve wanted you since I
had my first wet dream about you.”

She
sought to put distance between them, but he wouldn’t allow it. “You and me?”
His hands were beneath her dress, working on shifting her panties and lowering
his briefs. She struggled even as his fingers stroked her wet folds.

“You
and me,” he repeated. His smile was evil as he said, “Sebastian thinks that I’m
his alter ego. That one day, he’ll swallow me down and be done with me. Truth
is he’s the anomaly.
I’m
what we grow up to be. He’s a coward. Afraid to
take what he wants. I, on the other hand,
take
”— he buried his cock to
the hilt in her pussy. She cried out at the sudden intrusion— “what is mine,”
he continued. “I take what I want.” He thrust again, his hips shoving her up
the wall.

She
braced herself on his shoulders as he pumped himself into her. He was anything
but gentle. Fortunately, she was wet and aroused from their previous amorous
play. He cupped her buttocks and arched her into his thrusts so that his cock
tunneled deeper. When he hit her G-spot, she shivered and moaned. It was so
hard to recall why she’d been fighting this with him buried so deeply inside of
her. The pleasure was decadent and overpowering. Her head fell back, and her
eyes fluttered closed.

“Look
at me.”

Panting,
she locked gazes with him. His midnight-blue eyes flashed silver before
darkening to almost black. She bit her lip. He was watching her like he owned
her, like he would never let her go. It was an overwhelming sensation and one
she didn’t want to dwell on. Instead, she allowed herself to drown in carnal
bliss. Squeezing him with her thighs, she used her legs to draw him closer.

She
felt her orgasm nearing and apparently, so did Sebastian. He moved faster,
harder, pushing her over the precipice until she was crying out. She prepared
herself for the hit of his psychic power as he swelled and pulsed inside her.
He growled and buried his face in her neck.

He
squeezed her and then lowered her to the floor. Keva frowned. He hadn’t shared
his psychic energy with her. “Why—”

He
stroked her cheek. “I’m not ready to let you go yet. Sebastian won’t let us
have you. So I have to act for us. We need you.” He shoved at his briefs and
they slid to his ankles. He stepped out of them. Bending at the knees, he
scooped her up and carried her to the bedroom.

Sebastian’s
chest was glued by sweat to Keva’s back. Her caramel skin gleamed in the soft
lighting cast by her bedside lamp. His fingers were linked with hers where he
held them above her head. A pillow rested beneath her abdomen and he had her
thighs splayed wide. His cock was buried deep inside her wet pussy, pulsing as
it filled her with his come. “Shit.”

It
would be better if he could say that he couldn’t recall what he’d done to her,
how forceful and rough he’d been. But not only could he remember it, he knew
he’d reveled in making her surrender to him. Her cries would always ring in his
ears. Bastard that he was, he’d made her beg for his cock, beg to be at the
mercy of his animalistic lust.

“Shit.”
Pulling out of her snug body, he rolled onto his back. He longed to reach out
and haul her into his arms, but he couldn’t. Selfish bastards like him didn’t
deserve good women like her. “I’m so sorry—”

“Go
to hell.”

Sebastian
winced at the venom in her tone. “Please, Keva…”

She
slid out of bed and went into the bathroom, slamming the door closed behind
her. Running water sounded seconds later. He banged his head on the soft
pillow. Damn it, he’d really fucked this up. It was probably for the best that
she left before he’d finished his sentence. What would he have said to her
anyway? He got up and gathered his clothing. His briefs were in the den. He went
to retrieve them and dressed quickly.

He
was pressing his feet into his shoes when Keva came down the hall. One look at
her face told him that the shower had not cooled her temper in the least. Her
dark eyes burned bright with fury. She wore a pale pink robe that she’d cinched
cruelly tight at her waist. Her skin was damp. She’d brushed her long hair back
and bound it in a ponytail. His eyes dropped to her unfettered breasts, soft
and full beneath silk. Shoving his violin and bow at him, Keva growled, “Take
your shit and get out.” He gripped the instrument. When he opened his mouth to
apologize, she held up a hand. “Save it. I know you’re sorry. I don’t need to
hear your self-pitying whine again. I’ve got it memorized from the last two
times.”

His
lips thinned. So he’d finally managed to kill any sympathy she had for him.
Maybe next time she’d fight harder and knee him the way she needed to. It was
probably the only thing that would keep him off her. At least, he liked to
think that it would. But he couldn’t be certain. He was never sure of himself
when he was in such an unbridled state. He nodded his head, staring at her,
hating to see the pain beneath the anger and bravado. Committing her beautiful
image to memory, he left her.

Getting
inside IOP had been easy. He’d driven in behind the serving staff for tonight’s
event. On the way out, he could tell that someone had been kind enough to bring
food and drinks out to the guards. They barely spared him a glance before going
back to their shrimp and champagne.

Sebastian
drove back to his hotel. There was nothing holding him here anymore. The last
house had sold. The paperwork was done, and he’d managed to avoid the moving
party Becky had wanted to throw for him. In the morning he’d book a flight and
get as far away from Keva as possible.

Keva
locked up behind Sebastian. She was so angry she could scream. She didn’t know
who she was more mad at—him or herself. She’d let him use her.
Again
.
She would have screamed if she had to listen to him tell her once more that she
was good enough to fuck, but only when he was overinundated with psychic energy
that he wasn’t himself anymore. The rejection hurt more than she wanted to
admit.

Too
late she realized why Bastian’s possessive words had made her uncomfortable.
She’d been hopeful that they’d meant something, but afraid all along that he’d
go back on them. And the second his equilibrium had returned, he’d done just
that. The bastard hadn’t even pulled out of her before remorse hit. It was like
a switch was flipped. Prior to releasing his energy into her, he’d been
insatiable, fucking her over and over.

Returning
to her bedroom, she paused momentarily to survey the prospective cleanup. Then
she picked her dress and panties off the floor and tossed them in the linen
basket. Though bone tired, she changed her bedding. The sheets smelled of
sweat, sex, and Sebastian.

She
slid between the cool, clean sheets and fell into an exhausted sleep.
