She
stood. It was best not to go there. “I’ve got business cards in the car. If you
need me, you can call me directly. Please call me before it gets to this level again.”

“Would
I need to come to IOP?”

“Um,
yes. We come out in emergencies, but it’s not advised.”

He
shook his head. “No, Keva.”

She
sighed. “Sebastian, I want what’s best for you. I don’t understand the full
extent of your abilities. Are you aware that you asked to be called Bastian?
It’s as though you’ve got a second personality.”

He
lowered his lashes. “I don’t know how to explain it. It’s not a second
personality. I’m sure as fuck not possessed.” His jaw clenched. “After what
you’ve done for me, I feel I owe you an explanation. When I lose control, the
worst of me comes to the fore. I become an arrogant, insensitive bastard. I’m
aware of what’s going on, but I can’t control it.”

“I
wouldn’t say the worst. After all, Bastian’s a virtuoso at the violin. Who
knows what other talents you may have?”

“That’s
what I’m afraid of,” he muttered.

Chapter Three

Keva
keyed in her notes, frustrated that she’d been having difficulty concentrating
the entire day. She kept making mistakes and having to correct them. Her day
had started out with Dr. Garcia grilling her about the emergency call two
months ago. She’d been so surprised that she was sure she’d gotten some of the
details wrong. She could barely recall what she’d put in that report. And today
had been a busy one. She hadn’t had time to review it so that she could check.
Perhaps it was her imagination, but she’d thought the doctor seemed suspicious.

Amy
made her gum pop. She blew a bubble and then sucked it back in her mouth. “I’m
bored,” she said. “The only appointment I’ve had today was with a faker. A
damned illusionist. I’ll admit he was good, but whoever scheduled him is in a
hell of a lot of trouble.”

Dean
laughed. “Sounds more fascinating than my day. I’ve had nothing but lowly C
levels. It’s a wonder they needed my services.”

Keva
tuned him out. Dean could be a bit of a snob about his time. Everyone knew it
stemmed from jealously. Even the lowest-level psychic still had a talent that
Dean longed to have. She closed out her notes on her last client and then
delved into the archives to find the information she’d entered about Sebastian.
She found the file but found that it was flagged for review. Not only could she
not alter any inconsistent details, she could not open it without a password.
“Damn,” she muttered.

Finished
for the day, she shut down her computer. “See you guys Monday,” she said.
Though they each had apartments on the upper level of the IOP facility, Dean
and Amy tended to spend their weekends with family or partying in Vegas. Keva
had no family in the area and her fascination with Vegas had waned after three
years. When she’d moved to Nevada at twenty-three, she’d enjoyed going to clubs
and seeing the shows. She still attended the occasional concert but for the most
part, she was over it.

She
rode the elevator up to the private floors. The car stopped and Dr. Larsen got
on. He smiled at her. “Hey, Keva. Haven’t seen you today.”

“Yeah.
I’ve been as busy as a bee.” She studied him. He was one of her favorite
doctors here. He treated the talent with respect and not like a research
subject unlike some of her coworkers. “Dr. Larsen, I had a file flagged. Do you
know why?”

He
seemed to ponder it. “There are several possibilities. If the information is
vague, it can be flagged. Unusual circumstances will get you a flag. Lack of a
name is a big red flag. The higher-ups always want to know who we’re helping.
Oh, and if they suspect misinformation.”

Keva
felt her heart sink. The situation with Sebastian would have raised flags on
each of those points. If she’d known, she would have been more careful with her
report, perhaps made up a name.

Some
of her worry must have shown on her face because Dr. Larsen gave her a pat on
the shoulder. “Don’t worry about it, kid. It’s mostly a formality. It will
probably be cleared in a day or two.” She thanked Dr. Larsen and got off on her
floor. Doctors were housed on a higher floor. Executives got the penthouse
though they often had grand homes and rarely stayed at the IOP facility.

Keva
used her card identification key to unlock her door. She liked her apartment.
The color theme was much like the offices below. The walls were white. The
rooms were square. Large windows gave excellent views of the vast desert. The
only real difference was the white carpeting. The offices had cheap, dark gray
carpet squares.

After
her hard day, she just wanted to soak in the tub with a good book. She wished
she had contact information for Sebastian. Perhaps it was for the best. This
way, he would remain off the IOP radar, as he so obviously desired. She
stripped off her shirt as she entered the hallway to her bedroom. She kept the
blinds in her bedroom closed so the room was dark. It wasn’t that she was
worried that anyone would see her undressed as there were no nearby buildings.
Even after three years, she wasn’t used to the isolation, and it felt weird to
strip in front of window. Plus, keeping the blinds closed helped keep the room
cool.

She
tossed her shirt on the bed and undid her pants, letting them fall to the
floor. Hearing a bang behind her, she swung around. The door had slammed shut. She
stared at it in confusion. There was no wind to have caused it to close.

“It
seems I’m overdressed.”

Gasping,
she turned toward that deep voice. Sebastian leaned against the wall in the
corner. Too far away to have closed the door with his hands. So he wasn’t lying
about the telekinesis. His words sinking in, she gritted her teeth but refused
to cower and cover her partial nudity. He’d seen it all. “How did you get in
here?”

He
shrugged as he moved forward. With a flick of his hand, the light switch was
flipped and the room was instantly much brighter. She blinked against the
sudden change. Sebastian fared much better. Once her vision adjusted, she could
see that he wore dark shades. He was dressed in dark blue jeans and a black T-shirt
with an album cover on it that she didn’t recognize. His long hair was loose
about his broad shoulders. “Simple,” he said, stopping in front of her. “I told
them I was your boyfriend.”

“Oh,
well, that makes sense.” Friday was a day when everyone was lax. IOP was
guarded twenty-four hours a day, but the guards changed shifts for the evenings
and the weekends. The regular guards were not such sticklers on Fridays or when
it was close to five on any given day. But it didn’t explain how he found her
apartment or how he got inside without an access card key. “I was just thinking
about you.”

He
grinned. “I haven’t been able to forget you either.”

She
frowned. “I needed to talk to you. Something came up at work about your—”

“I’m
not interested in that.”

“But
you need to…” She halted as he pushed his shades up, revealing glowing silver
irises. Inhaling, she backed up a step. If it was possible, his grin widened.
“B-bastian?”

“Yes?”

The
significance of his presence in her apartment hit her. He’d been adamant about
not coming to IOP for treatment. She hadn’t forgotten his story about the
violin and his warning about coming for her. “No. We’re not doing that again.
We can try a regular connection.”

He
rolled his eyes. “Why must you waste my time?”

“There
are protocols that must be followed—”

He
grabbed her hands. “There.” He squeezed. “Nothing. Now can we do this my way?”

“You
didn’t even try. You’re not glowing so it’s not as dire as last time.” Well,
other than his eyes. “We should be able to do this the normal way.”

“Maybe
I don’t want to.” He gripped her hips and slid his hands around to cup her
buttocks. His palms were hot through the thin cotton of her panties. Hauling
her in as close as she would allow, he groaned. “I definitely don’t want to.
And if you were honest with yourself, you’d admit that you don’t want to
either.”

Despite
her arms acting as a bracket between his chest and hers, he buried his face in
her neck and inhaled. She shivered, her pussy clenching, as he nibbled and
sucked the sensitive skin there. He rolled his hips against hers, letting her
know exactly how aroused he was, and her limbs went weak.
Oh, hell
, she
thought. She was in trouble. Maybe if she had a boyfriend it would be easier to
resist him. When she’d become such a sex fiend, she didn’t know, but the man
made her feel like an addict. She was wet and needy. More than once, she’d
brought herself off thinking about their night together.

When
his lips sought hers, she didn’t deny him. The kiss was hot and deep, making
her moan. He undid her bra and pushed her panties down even as their tongues
continued to duel. They were falling. The bed caught them. His limbs
intertwined with hers. His large hands seemed to be everywhere, tugging on her
nipples, arching her spine, spreading her thighs. He stroked her clit and
plunged his fingers into her pussy and then used her juices to tease her some
more.

She
heard his zipper release. He shoved his pants down and then his cock was poised
at her opening. “You want this?”

“Yes,”
she gasped. The word hadn’t fully left her mouth before he was plunging deep.
She wrapped her legs around his hips. He was completely dressed while she was
naked and open to him. The denim of his jeans was rough against her thighs as
he fucked her. His cotton T-shirt rasped against her nipples, keeping them
tight and hard for him. She slid her hands into his long hair and pulled him
down for a kiss. The walls here were thick, but she didn’t want to chance her
neighbor hearing her screams.

Bastian
was demanding and tireless, working her body until she was covered in sweat. There
was almost a desperation to his movements. He cupped her buttocks, tilting her
into his hard thrusts, so that he could drive his deepest. Each thrust pushed
her higher and higher. She could tell the second he started to stream his power
into her. Keva shook as the rush of psychic energy threatened to overwhelm her.
The sensation of him tunneling in and out of her cunt became almost unbearable
in its intensity. She was thrown headlong into an orgasm on a particularly deep
thrust aimed at her g-spot. Her entire body seized from her toes to the top of
her scalp and her skin became a mass of tingling nerve endings. She moaned into
his mouth. Sebastian stilled, a deep groan rumbling up from his chest as his
cock swelled and jerked inside her sheath.

He
buried his face in her neck and gave a great sigh of relief. Their breathing
returned to normal. And then he stiffened. “Shit.” He braced himself on his
elbows so that he could look down in to her face. His eyes no longer glowed.
“Keva, I can’t believe I did this to you again.”

She
allowed her arms to fall to the bed. “Why the surprise? You did warn me. And I
warned you that you would need help again.”

Sebastian
cupped her face. “I fought as hard as I could to stay away from you.”

Keva
sighed. “Could you…?” She nudged his shoulders. He was still buried inside her.
She was sticky with his come and uncomfortable. She’d really like that bath
now.

“Sorry.”
He rolled onto his back and did up his pants.

She
covered herself with one arm across her breasts and the other positioned
between her legs. It was stupid, but she’d felt much better with at least her
underwear on. “I’m going to take a shower. If you want to hang around, we can
discuss your file. I tried before but you weren’t interested.”

He
ran his fingers through his hair and nodded. “I’ll wait for you in the den.”

In
the bathroom, she stared at her reflection. Her eyes were aglow. She shook her
head. Sebastian’s case was unlike any she had ever seen. She reached out to
pull back the shower curtain and then paused. Unable to resist, she gave the
curtain a mental command to open. Instead, the plastic was ripped from the
rings. It fell to the floor at her feet.

Keva
grimaced. Guess that sort of thing needed practice. She ran a bath and climbed
in. Not wanting to keep Sebastian waiting, she soaped up quickly. She couldn’t
help but think back over what had just transpired between them. The man made
her go off like a firecracker. It was embarrassing to be so easy.

She
rinsed off and wrapped up in a towel. She peeped into her bedroom. The
television could be heard from the den. She really didn’t want to put on
another bra and decided to risk it. Sebastian was back to his normal self and
was unlikely to make any sexual overtures toward her. She pulled on a T-shirt
and a pair of lounge pants.

He
was flipping channels but put down the remote when she joined him in the den. Since
she rarely had company, she only had a loveseat. She sat down and his eyes
immediately dropped to her unbound breasts. Clearing her throat, she grabbed up
a sofa pillow and hugged it to her chest. “So, as I was saying, I was questioned
about your file this morning.”

“Why?”

“I
didn’t realize it, but it raises flags when subjects’ names are unlisted. Also,
because of the unusual circumstances.”
