I
showered and dressed. I had grown up always knowing what I wanted. Now I wasn’t
so sure. Romeo was great but I wasn’t even sure if his name was even Romeo. I
had no clue who he was. I really had no clue who I was anymore.
I
sighed as I looked in the mirror and pinned my hair up. Maybe I was
overthinking everything. Maybe I just needed to let it go. My phone started
ringing snapping me out of my thoughts.
It
was Romeo so I answered. “Hello.” I couldn’t hide my excitement to hear from
him.
“Hey
lady.” He sounded playful as ever. “I had a questions and I want you to be open
minded.”
I
felt my pulse quicken and I knew this was going to be something serious.
“What?” I tried not to sound too harsh when I said it.
“Will
you to make a movie with me?” His voice was soft and serious. He wasn’t joking
around or being playful.
I
felt my stomach knot up. “What kind of movie?”
“You
know what kind.” His voice was low and sexy. I hated it when he used that voice
it made me want to agree.
“Why?”
My voice was barely a whisper as I tried to disguise my horror.
He
laughed. “Well there are a few reasons. Money and fun are two very good
reasons.” He sounded very at ease like he did it all the time.
“Have
you made movies before?” I was trying not to get to upset. I knew his
background I didn’t understand why I was so surprised.
He
sighed. “I think you know the answer to that and I don’t understand why you
sound so disgusted. You fucked me in front of several people last night.”
I
blushed at the memory. “That wasn’t on permanent film. I know nothing about
you. I just don’t think I can.”
He
scoffed. “This has nothing to do with what you know. This has to do with you
thinking you’re too good for all of us. Get off your high horse and get on your
knees you might like it.” He hung up and I looked at the phone a little
shocked. Maybe he was right maybe I was too stuck up and that was the problem.
By
six I hadn’t heard from Romeo so I decided not to go to the club. He was obviously
mad at me. I made dinner and sat down and watched TV. My phone jingled, it was
a text from Romeo.
‘Please come see me.’
I
sighed. I didn’t want to stay away from him. I wanted to know more about him. I
grabbed my coat and headed toward the club. I was dressed down in jeans, a tank
top, and a light coat. I never dressed like a patron of the club anyway so I
didn’t bother changing. It didn’t look busy which wasn’t surprising. It
was Sunday night everyone had work tomorrow. I crossed the street and went
inside.
Lea
was standing there and I blushed a little when I saw her. She smiled. “Hi,
Juliet.”
“Hey
Lea is he in his office?” I was trying not to blush. All I could remember when
I looked at her was her kissing me.
She
nodded and I walked through the bar and knocked on his office door. His usual
sultry voice told me to come in. I slipped in his office. He was lounging on
one of the couches. He was wearing nothing but leather pants and his hair was
down. I sat down on the opposite couch and he watched me. He wasn’t smiling so
I wasn’t sure of his mood. He was actually very hard to read at that moment.
Usually he was smiling.
“I
wasn’t sure if you would come.” His voice was steady and smooth. There was no
playful lilt to it and I was beginning to wonder if there was something wrong.
“Why
wouldn’t I?” I picked at my finger nails unable to meet his gaze.
He
shrugged and looked away, “I was rude to you earlier. I just have a lot going
on and I didn’t mean to snap at you.”
I
got up and went to him. I snuggled up next to him. He smelled like his soft
cologne and body wash. “I’m sorry I am having such a hard time. This is all so
different from what I am used to.” I was used to staying to myself and staying
closed off; not sex clubs.
He
laughed softly and kissed my head. “I think I am beginning to understand how
you feel.” He sounded sad which wasn’t normal for him.
I
looked up at him determined to make him feel better. “Is there something
wrong?”
He
looked at me for a moment then shook his head and sat up. I shifted so he could
get up. I couldn’t help but be a little disappointed.
I
decided to change the subject. I wanted to see if I could find out more about
him. “Is your real name Romeo?”
He
smiled as he poured a drink. “No it’s James.”
I
was a little relieved he didn’t deflect. I didn’t know why I was so sure he was
going to try to. “Do you have family here?”
His
expression changed and I could see him close down. He wasn’t going to tell me
anything. “How are the articles going?” He acted like I didn’t even ask him a
question.
I
sighed and picked at my fingernails. “Good, I guess.”
He
came over to me and covered my mouth with his. His kiss was tantalizing and
full of need. I laid back as he climbed on top of me. We kissed slowly. He made
no move to get my clothes off, so I didn’t try to get his off.
He
pressed his forehead to mine and his eyes were full of sadness. “I am selling
the club.”
He
spoke slowly and I felt my chest tighten. Normally I would have been happy to hear
it. I didn’t like the club but now I wasn’t so sure anymore. The expression on
his face scared me. He was losing part of himself.
