Gradually, I feel him respond to me as his hesitance fades. His motion is gentle, but steady. Finally, finally he drives into me with his full length and
oh, God
. The explosion of sensation sends my eyes rolling in the back of my head. The moan that escapes my lips is absorbed by the storm, but not before Rob hears it.

He lifts himself up, his voice pleading. “Baby, open your eyes.”

I follow his command, only to see him gazing back at me with an expression of pleasure so intense that it borders on pain.

“Stay with me, Evie. I need you to stay with me, now. Keep your eyes open.”

Clutching at his back, I can’t stop the sounds that bubble out of my throat. Every thrust of his body into mine is so much better than my dreams. He’s not even inside me, but he’s so hard and hitting just the right spot to send pulses of energy all the way to the top of my head, the tips of my fingers and toes. Instinctively, my legs wrap around his hips. Making room for him to be as close to me as possible.

“Oh, God,” I moan with his next push.

“No, actually, it’s Rob,” he laughs above me, even as he continues to pant with his movements.

That poorly timed joke should be enough to ruin the moment, but it doesn’t. I love the dorky part of him. Laughing along with him feels so good. So perfect. Joyful. The sound of our voices joining together to float away in the wind breaks apart the last vestiges of fear and anxiety.

Making love to me in the only way he can, his face is a sight to behold. I can’t tear my eyes away. His mouth just slightly open, brow furrowed, sweat beading on his forehead. His soft, sandy hair is damp with the effort. His eyes are wide open, the perfect blue-green shade of honesty that I treasure with all my heart.

He pants out several controlled breaths. “Evie, I’m close. Come with me.”

That’s all I need to hear. Knowing that he’s enjoying me, getting pleasure even if only this way is enough. The intensity of my orgasm surges through my whole body in pulsing waves emanating from where he pounds into me.

Rob pushes himself against me as I cling to him, riding out the high. His movements cease, even as his entire body trembles with his own release.

“God, Evie,” he grunts into my neck.

For long moments, we lie together in silence. The only sounds our heavy breathing and the abating storm. I glide my hand along his sweaty back, up and down, up and down, in a soothing motion. This wasn’t easy for him, but he did it, anyway. For me.

Pressing a kiss to the side of his head, I whisper in his ear. “I love you, Rob.”

Sighing, he lifts himself up so that we’re face to face. Separated only by a few inches. He moves his hands, cupping the back of my neck. His thumbs sweep along the sensitive skin below my ears. “I love you, too, Evie. So much.”

He bends down to kiss me. It’s languid, tender, exquisite. A physical manifestation of every emotion shared between us.

“We should get cleaned up,” he chuckles.

Between the sweat, my own arousal, and his release, I feel wet, sticky and generally gross.

“Evie, I can’t believe I’m just now asking you this, but...are you on the pill?” His back is to me as we both change into fresh clothes, but the worry in his voice carries clearly.

Laughing is my first instinct. “We didn’t have sex through layers of clothes, Rob. And I’m pretty sure we’re both clean. Besides, you’ve never had a reason to ask me before.”

“You’re really not great with the whole bio thing, are you?” He turns around with a smirk when he’s sure I’m dressed, again. “Not that I don’t want to fertilize your eggs, but I’d rather at least do it the old fashioned way and not by accident.”

I flop down on the bed, still laughing as he crawls towards me. “The old fashioned way?”

He stops to place kisses against my stomach before settling beside me on the pillows. “Well, yeah. I definitely want to have babies with you. Just not yet. What kind of lousy ass father would I be to impregnate you like that instead of inside you, anyway?”

Sex is such a taboo subject between us that I’d never considered the possibility, but he’s right. We’re playing with fire. I might not be great with science and math, but health class taught me enough to know that we’ve been essentially unprotected.

“Maybe I’ll make a doctor’s appointment next week,” I muse aloud as he adjusts himself beside me.

He laughs, burrowing his arm under my pillow and pulling me into his chest. “Now you understand what I’m telling you.”

“Oh, hey. Speaking of telling me things...what’s a rimjob? You said you’d tell me later.”

The force of Rob’s hysterical laugher shakes my entire body. If we weren’t so close together, he’d be doubled over with it. “Oh, trust me, you don’t actually want to know.”

“Yeah, I do. I didn’t even know whether to drink or not because I have no idea what that means. Everyone else seemed to know.”

Rob sucks his lips in between his teeth, trying to keep a straight face. Several deep breaths later, he rushes out, “It’s licking someone’s asshole for sexual pleasure.”

“What?” I yelp, sitting up rapidly and jumping away from him.

His laughter resurfaces as he pulls me back down against him. “I told you that you didn’t want to know.”

“Dear God, how do
you
know what that is?” I can’t even think about Mike uttering that word. My brother and Chelsie? Just...no.

“Please don’t make me tell you all the depraved things I’ve learned about in the locker room,” he answers, entirely serious.

Peering up at him, I debate my next question. “Do I even want to know what a money shot is, then?”

“Oh, that one’s not as bad,” he shrugs. “It’s pulling out to come on the girl. Either her boobs or face.”

All I can do is blink at him. Does not compute.

“Don’t be scared, we never have to do anything like that, Evie,” he quickly back peddles.

Something about his words peaks my curiosity. “Is that something you would’ve wanted to do...before?”

Rob throws his head back on the pillow, flattening himself against the blankets and pulling away from me a bit. He crosses his free arm over his face and mumbles, “You’re going to make me go there, aren’t you?”

A smile sneaks over my face as the implication of his words starts to take root in my mind. “Have you been keeping secrets from me, Superjock? Secret fantasies, perhaps?”

I walk my fingers along his bare chest until he reaches out to grab me. He laughs hesitantly when he glances at my face, even though his cheeks instantly turn a furious red.

“I used to fantasize about all kinds of things with you, yeah,” he finally admits.

“Oooh.” I tap my fingertips against him, then prop my head up on my fists. Staring at him intently, it’s difficult to keep the looney smile that’s brewing just under the surface at bay. “Tell me more.”

“I’m not telling you about that,” he laughs. The embarrassment written on his face and laced in his voice is unmistakable.

I should probably let it go, but the idea that he’s ever fantasized about me is just too tantalizing. It’s like finding hidden treasure when you weren’t even using a map. Or looking.

“Pleeeeeease?” I beg.

“Ugh, fine.” Rob huffs, not meeting my eyes. “What do you want to know?”

“Wow, really?” I would clap with excitement if my hands weren’t holding up my head. “Ok, first of all, how long have you been fantasizing about me?”

“Since the very first day I met you,” he answers without hesitating.

“Holy shit.” The words escape my brain without any filter. It’s not until Rob’s panicked gaze lands on mine that I realize I’ve actually said them aloud.

“I’m sorry,” he hurries. “I never meant for you to know that.” He grimaces, then starts again. “I swear it wasn’t anything disgusting. Well, not all of it. Dammit, I mean...I would never have done any of that unless you wanted to. I’d never force you, Evie.”

Finally, I kiss him to shut him up. “It’s ok. I’m not mad. I just never knew you wanted me that way for so long.”

The thought of Chelsie and Mike wanting to tie each other up and perform rimjobs floats on the edge of my mind.

Rob shoots a confused look my way. “You know that I’ve wanted you since freshman year.”

              “Yeah,” I hedge. “But, I didn’t realize
how
you wanted me.”

Rob squeezes his eyes shut. “I’m sorry, Evie. I know it’s horrible, now. Honestly, that’s why I haven’t been able to think about anything like that for a long time. I was such a disgusting pervert back then. I know better now, though.”

“Hey Rob,” I whisper. “I’ve fantasized about you since freshman year, too.”

That gets his attention, as intended. “You did?”

              “Do.”

His Adam’s apple bobs as he swallows thickly. “Still?”

              “Yeah.”

              “Holy shit,” he breathes.

Laughing, I shoot him a smug grin. “Exactly. Ok, I tell you what? You tell me yours and I’ll tell you mine.”

              “Evie...” he trails off. Unconvinced.

“Ok, so the first fantasy I ever had about you freshman year was seeing you naked. In the locker room.”

His laughter is genuine, and no doubt loud enough to wake everyone in the neighboring tents. Luckily, the rain is still pounding loud enough to drown out the noise in our shelter. “Oh my God, you can’t be serious. You have got to be the only girl at school who wanted to see my dorky skinny ass naked back then.”

I roll onto my back and cross my arms over my chest defensively. “Well, yeah.” I gesture wildly at him with my hand. “All that bulk that makes panties wet in the halls never really did it for me. I preferred the old you.”

“Preferred? Or prefer?” He moves onto his side, facing me and propping his head on his hand.

“You know what I mean. I like you for your brains, not your muscle.”

He makes a hmm sound in the back of his throat, studying me until I squirm under his scrutinizing gaze. “So, what you’re saying is you don’t actually like the way I look now, and you don’t quite love me, just like me. So, were you lying at your house that day when you told Tini I’m built like a freaking God,” he makes air quotes. “Or, were you lying every time you’ve told me you love me?”

Wow. This conversation went from fun to downer really quickly. Time for some damage control. “No, I wasn’t lying either time. You are built like a freaking God. And you know it, so don’t play coy with me. I’m just saying that’s not all I see in you. And I do love you, but I also like you, which I frankly think is important. You and I were friends, first. It’s never been all about sex with us.”

He laughs, but this one isn’t as carefree as the last. “No, I guess not.”

I can see that he needs more convincing, but I’m not about to unload the rest of my secrets on him. He’s already suffered because of me, and is carrying the baggage to prove it. No way am I going to saddle him with more. “I’ve fantasized about giving you blow jobs.”

That reroutes this conversation effectively, if his wide eyes are anything to go by.

“Seriously? I didn’t think girls actually liked doing that.”

“I’ve heard different perspectives and opinions,” I shrug. “Not that I have any personal experience, obviously.”

Even in the darkness, a shadow passes across his face. “Evie, I don’t...I’m not ready for anything like that yet. I’m sorry.”

“It wasn’t an offer, Rob.” I smirk up at him, hoping to lessen the sting of my words.

His sigh of relief is answer enough. “Oh, ok. Thanks.”

Waiting until he’s settled on the pillow beside me, I try to get us back to the lighter mood that keeps slipping under the dark surface. “So, your turn. Tell me some of the fantasies you’ve had about me.”

“I’ve imagined making love to you for years,” he yawns.

“I think that goes without saying. Nice try.”

“What? You asked, I answered. That’s a fair play.” Another yawn.

I peek up at him to find his eyes already closed. The rain outside is finally letting up, and it won’t be much longer until Rob succumbs to sleep. “Alright, I’ll give you a pass because I
like
you.”

He cracks an eye open and smirks at me.

“But, I gave you two. So, you owe me another.”

Instead of speaking, he wraps his arms around me. The rain has significantly cooled the air, and cuddling tonight is going to be comfortable. Maybe necessary. I thumb through the mental files of Rob fantasies in my brain, readying another to share when he fesses up to one of his own.

A soft snore pulls me from my thoughts. Rob is sound asleep.

I guess we’re both holding onto our secrets. For now.
