CHAPTER ONE

"
Everyone
please give a round of applause to our newest Phi Nu pledge class of 2016!" Heather led the clapping for the women standing freshly pinned on the grand staircase. It had been a hard couple of months, juggling freshman classes and pledge duties, but I felt better for having made it though to the end. Our class had started with twenty young women and somewhere along the way ten girls dropped out. Not due to hazing, no they all claimed that running errands for the older sisters and cleaning up the house for party after party was too tedious. I, on the other hand, jumped at the chance to get Heather her 'Non-Fat, soy, triple shot, latte' at all hours of the night, because I knew at the end of this long marathon I would be gaining a family. Under the gleam of every eye at the ceremony, I felt the glowing of energy. The applause ended and we slowly dispersed down the stairs. Our brother fraternity had joined us for the honorable night; they had begun to envelop all the new sisters to offer congratulations. With each I accepted graciously each handshake and hug but my eyes found the pair that I was really looking for quickly, Jackson Harris.

"I guess I no longer have to call you pledge." He laughed, his tux tight against his muscular biceps that I loved so much. In older times, one might call what we were doing courting. Jackson had been persistent in his chase of me. I hadn't really been playing hard to get, you can just say that I was just guarded. From my very first night at Phi Nu as a pledge sister, everyone warned me to stay away from one Mr. Harris.

The baseline drummed throughout the house as the group of girls approached, outside a group of men stood at folding table, checking names off a list. If you weren't in the frat or their sister sorority, you had to be invited and placed on the ever so coveted list. Jasmine stopped the girls and turned out in front of everyone. Jasmine had been in charge of putting us accepted pledges through a crash course earlier that afternoon.

"Ladies, listen up." She shouted over the music. "Inside this house is our the Phi Kappa Nu brothers. As you remember they are our brothers just as you all will be our sisters. I have one word of advice, if you want to survive pledging you must stay away from Jackson Harris. Trust me, as someone that has been there, his attraction is a facade. Do not fall for the facade." Jasmine cast a knowing eye over those of us in the front of the group. I shifted uncomfortably as her eyes lingered on me a moment longer than all the others. "With that being said, have fun! Tonight is the first of many parties in your future."

At the door, the boys waved us by with a hearty welcome to Jasmine. "Jazzy!" A shorter one yelled and pulled her into a warm hug. He had drawn out the middle of her name so that it was more like, jah-ahhhh-ze. "I see you're in charge of the fresh meat!" A girl that I had heard called Caitlyn gagged next to me. She tried to cough to cover the noise; she glanced at me from the side of her face hoping I hadn't noticed.

"This is them!" She gestured. "Come on, take me inside and get me a drink Lance." Lance winked back at us and took Jasmine by the arm. Tentatively, I led the group into the house after them. Inside, the music was so loud that I could feel the music playing in my heart. Caitlyn reached for my arm in the growing sea of bodies. We were in living room that had all the furniture pushed along the walls to create a dance floor. You had to walk through the middle of everything to get anywhere else so I held onto Caitlyn as we pushed across the room. Through a hallway the kitchen had been made into a bar.

“Too bad we're not allowed to drink." Caitlyn groaned into my ear. That was rule number one from sorority orientation; pledges are not allowed to drink in other houses but their own. The university rule was at all but Jasmine promised if we were at home it was okay. I found myself nodding to Caitlyn's words as I looked around the room. Her grip tightened painfully on my arm and I heard her breath the word, "Oh." I quickly turned to see where she was looking.

A tall, dark haired man was talking to one of our sisters that I hadn't met yet. He was wearing a gray, V-neck t-shirt that clung to his pecks. Just on the right side black curling ink peaked out from under the fabric. His tight shirt outlined every line of his muscles in his abdomen. His eyes were so blue; we could see the crystal specks from where we stood in the party. "That has to be him." She said in my ear.

"Who?" I dumbly asked unable to look away from the man.

"That Jackson guy. It's like law that the hot guy is always the one you're warned to stay away from." She rolled her eyes at me. "Oh no." She said as his glaze found us. The sister he was speaking to continued chattering as he walked away from her. "No." Caitlyn's hold was now like a deathly vise against my arm.

"Hello, ladies. Can I get you a drink?" He held out his hand and all at once the pressure on my limb was relieved as she took his hand instead.

"Pledges, we can't." I explained to his amused face.

"That shouldn't stop you." He held out his hand to me now. "I'm Jackson."

"This is Caitlyn and I'm Leila." I offered in return. "I really don't think we can..." I could feel Caitlyn gawking at me as I spoke. Jackson's bemusement only seemed to increase. He looped his arm around my waist and I could feel his muscles tighten as he guided me back to the kitchen. Caitlyn followed but she wasn't necessarily invited along, Jackson cast her a lazy glance in the kitchen and told the bartender brother for the night to get him three beers, he placed the beers in our hands. I watched his eyes baring into me as raised his drink to his lips. His gaze cut through me like I was a cow being lead to the slaughter.

"So new pledges." He remarked turning his gaze towards Caitlyn now. "Are you ready for the most hellish couple of months?" Jackson's grin contorted into a wicked sort of smirk, she giggled at his words. My beer tasted like watered down gasoline mixed with cat piss. I tried to pretend like I was drinking it when someone shouted Jackson's name from outside of the room and within seconds he was gone again.

The next time that I ran into him was a few weeks later; he was smoking a cigarette outside of the chemistry lab two feet from the no smoking sign. He flicked the glowering butt into the brushes and half jogged up to me. "Hey Lily." He swung an arm around my shoulders.

"It's Leila actually." I corrected him.

"Are you sure?" He asked dropping his arm from my shoulders. I didn't reply to his comment. "Any way, Leila," he paused to look at me for confirmation that he finally said it right so I nodded ever so slightly. "Listen, I know Greek life can be an adjustment. There is a lot of expectancy that comes with being part of our families. If you ever find yourself feeling overwhelmed and looking for a friendly shoulder to lean on, I'm your guy."

"I think I can handle it." I told him looking down at my feet as we continued to walk. So far, all the rumors I heard about him seemed to be true. Jackson seemed unfazed by my distance.

"What are you doing right now?" He asked now looking off into the space ahead of us. There were groups of students walking through campus.

"I'm headed to class." I examined him now. I knew whatever came next it would take some hard pressing to get out of it. I got the impression that Jackson was not accustomed to being told no, if he ever was told no.

"Not anymore." He said taking my shoulders in her arm again. "You and I are going on an adventure."

"I can't miss-" I started to say but he started steering me towards the student parking lot giving me a dubious stare. "Where are we going?" I said instead to which he gave an approving look.

"How big is your backpack?" He patted my mostly empty bag. I only had the one class but now it seemed I had no classes that day at all. Casting him a confused look he shook his head. "Don't worry about it." We made it to his car and he held out his hand at the trunk of his car for my bag. In the interior his trunk I could see a large paper sack. I hesitated but relented it regardless of my reservations. With a shift yank on the zipper he opened and turned it on itself, the continents spilled out. "How fast do you run?"

"How fast do I run?" I repeated his question in a perplexed tone. He didn't offer an answer but just a blank stare waiting for my response. "I ran track." Telling him finally. "I actually plan on going out for the team in the spring."

"Great." He pulled open the brown sack and began transferring the items into my own bag. He worked quickly so I couldn't get a good look at what he was doing. From what I could tell, he was pulling out cans of spray paint. He zipped my backpack back and thrust it into my arms.

"What are we going to do with all this paint?" I felt that I knew the answer before the words left my mouth but I wanted his confirmation.

"You'll see." Of course he didn't give it. "Get in the car." We drove for twenty minutes in stiff silence to a housing community It was middle of the day but not a soul was in sight. All the houses appeared to be shut up tightly awaiting those at work to return, breathing life into their doors again. I thought back to the spray paint now heavy in my pack.

"What are we doing here?" I asked of his plans again.

"Today, we're going to do some justice." Jackson replied as he got out of the car. He led me down the street another block to a three-story crème colored house. He walked me around to the back of the house where a side gate opened to the backyard.

"Whose house is this?" I asked him uneasily following him.

"Don't worry about it." He grunted taking my backpack from my hands. "Hey stay here and watch the back door." Jackson pointed to a spot with a perfect view of the sliding glass door. From here I could see into the dark house. No one was home, or at least no one was downstairs. He ran off to the back fence. I wanted to watch him work but I kept my eyes glued on the door for any slight flicker of life within. I waited; he sprayed, for roughly fifteen minutes before he came back to me placing a hand on my shoulder. I jumped and screamed loudly before he put his hand on my mouth. From over his shoulder I could see what he had painted. In all red block writing, the words, 'cheating bastard' shone on the tan picket fence.

"Jackson who lives here?" I asked him in what was barely a whisper.

"What does it matter." He shoved my backpack into my hands again.

"Is this your home?" This time he looked down at his feet but next thing I knew his lips were pressed against mine, and his hands were in my hair. I dropped the bag and kissed him back. Suddenly, I felt as if a new light cast off of Jackson Harris and he wasn't what everyone said.

CHAPTER TWO

All
of us new sisters had to dance with our dates for the first official dance of the evening. It was held after the pinning and after everyone had a chance to congratulate us, maybe enjoy some refreshments. Jackson led me to the center of the room where he wrapped an arm around my waist and held my hand with his other hand. The music began to fill the room as the waltz commenced. Caitlyn was dancing with one of Jackson's close friends. It had been my idea for them to go together but as we moved around them on the dance floor I could see him wincing in pain as she stomped on his shoes with high-heeled feet. The dance ended in another round of applause.

"Lets go upstairs." Jackson told me with his lips close to my ear. A long time ago, or so it felt now, I told him that I wouldn't sleep with him until I was pinned. I wanted to focus on getting through the pledge process and school before I added sex to the mix. He wasn't happy but he respected that.

He led us through the maze of people and up the stairwell. I glanced around to see if anyone noticed us disappearing up the stairs, only one set of eyes found mine own. Caitlyn gave me a quick thumbs up. There were rules about boys being upstairs. Our housemother, strictly forbid any after hours visits and even during normal 'visiting' hours the door must remain wide open. Jackson had always pushed those limits. We often snuck him up the side of the house, if you climbed the tree, and jumped off the branch on to the roof. There were a few feet before you actually get the roof, but Jackson had become very skillful at landing silently. Caitlyn, who was my roommate, never once ratted us out. I would tell her; "I think the wind is coming tonight," and she would make some excuse to get her out of the house for the evening.

Now Jackson and I were here, alone, with everyone we knew downstairs dancing and drinking the night away. His lips found mine in the dark room. Hands on the zipper of my short black dress. It took mere seconds for me to be standing in the center of the room with nothing, but my black lacy pushup bra and matching thong. A hunger built effortlessly between our touches. I yanked off his tux jacket as he worked on pulling off his pants. Jackson pushed me back onto Caitlyn's bed, now in just his white shirt and boxers. I was too distracted by his lips on my neck to correct us.

He griped my underwear with both hands, mouth kissing a straight-line down my chest to my abdomen. Jackson bit the top of my panties and pulled them off with both his teeth and my hands, I raised my hips slightly allowing him room to throw them off. He spread my legs apart and quickly placed his mouth on my quivering loins. Licking at the wetness that formed with every touch. His thumb traced a circle around my clit, a moan rumbled deep from within me. His movements quicken and his tongue replaced his thumb working purposefully. Without notice, his pumped a finger into me, curving into my g-spot.

"Oh god." I closed my eyes against the pleasure. I ran my fingers through his hair, digging in to his beautiful dark locks. Then all at once it stopped. Jackson stood over me, my legs wrapped over his arms. He pulled my hips towards him and then as quickly as he stopped fingering me I felt the fullness of his rock hard cock pushing inside of me. He rolled his hips into mine, rocking into this thrusts. My hands clawed at the bedspread, clutching on the fabric.

"Fuck." He muttered his pounding roughly into me. Satisfaction rippled through me, crashing as it escalated to an end. Jackson leaned forward kissing me again as he pulled out. Wordless he turned me over and started thrusting from behind, I gasped at the feeling of his pressure again. His hands clutched my ass and I could feel his grip tighten as he moaned out, a few slow long strokes and he pulled out again. My core was left throbbing with the ghost of his cock.

I lay out and pulled his hand to lie next to me, but Jackson began to redress, using my mirror he fixed his hair. "Wait a few minutes and get dressed before coming back down. You may want to really put yourself back together if you don't want your den mother figuring out what you did." With those words of advice he left. I stared at the closed door shocked at feeling alone. I moved to stand up and felt the trickling run down my leg.

Our first official date had been romantic. Jackson had their pledges set up the roof of their house with roses and a sound system. There was a blanket and candlelight, with a picnic basket. We didn't speak of what we did to his parent's fence, nor did we speak about what caused the graffiti incident, but when he asked me out three days later I didn't want to say no so I agreed.

"Wow." I breathed; from the roof of Phi Kappa Nu you could see all of campus. The lights of the resident halls illuminated dorms of students just having ordinary study dates and binging some show on Netflix. "I can't believe you set this up for me. It's so amazing." Jackson popped some champagne and handed the whole bottle to me after taking a swig himself. I sipped it slowly and sat it down between us. The bubbly alcohol filled my mind and made me dizzy much more quickly than I realized.

"I'm glad that you like it." He said draping an arm around my shoulder and pulling me into his body. Jackson took the bottle of champagne from me and took a long swig before handing it back. I raised the glass rim to my lips once again and felt the bubbles popping in my brain. His fingers walked up and down my shoulder, forging a pathway with thumb and forefinger. "Leila," Jackson spoke my name and through the rising foggy thoughts I turned to him, "tell me about what you want to do when we grow up."

"We? You're older than me." I had found out earlier that day he was a junior and a few years older than myself. He rolled his eyes, exasperated by my statement so I started again. "I want to be a school teacher. I love kids and I think I would enjoy working with them. I mean who doesn't love little people that just learned how not to shit themselves?" Jackson chuckled softly.

"A lot of people." He said simply.

"What do you want to do when you grow up?" I closed my eyes as I laid my head on his shoulder.

"That's not important, is it?" Jackson sighed. We talked and drank until the bottle was gone. I feared I had the majority of the bottle and apologized to him over and over again. He waved off my words but I couldn't stop. I heard myself whine out another apology but before the words fully escaped my mouth, his lips pressed against mine His mouth opened just enough for his tongue to leave and flick into my mouth. I kissed him back to the best of my inebriated ability.  Then I was pushing him away as my dinner made a return appearance. "Fuck." He shouted and grabbed ahold of me to make sure I didn't fall off the roof.

That ended our first date, but to my surprise he asked me out again.

Downstairs, I moved slowly through the room. He was standing with a few brothers talking animatedly, I couldn't hear what they were saying from where I was but I didn't dare get any closer. For twenty minutes, I laid in my roommate's bed confused and in shock. I didn't understand what had just happened. It wasn't my first time, my first boyfriend and I had slept together in high school, but these were polar opposites. My Jackson would have never treated me that way. The Jackson high fiving someone thirty feet away was not the man I had gotten to known over the last few months.

"Hey there you are!" Heather tapped me on the shoulder and I spun quickly to look at her in the eye trying my best not to look frantic. "Where have you been?"

"I needed to go lay down for a bit. I started to feel a headache coming and I wanted to stop it before it got bad." I lied effortlessly. I did get headaches so it was believable enough.

"Oh, no!" Heather frowned. "I'm glad you feel better. Come on, we were looking for you to take a group picture for our Facebook page!" I followed her to the group of sisters already waiting. I slide in next to Caitlyn who smirked at me coyly.

"So?" She whispered to me. I shook my head indicating that I would tell her later, but I knew that I wouldn't. At least not what really happened? I would leave to the part about being fucked on her bed; I would sweeten the moment all together. I would tell Caitlyn instead that we made love and that it was worth the wait. An eager parent stood in front of us and called for everyone to scoot in 'like you love each now!'
