They stood there silently staring at each other, both waiting to see what the other would say. Tyce sighed and closed his eyes for a second. His brain was slightly muddled from the soft scent of peaches that drifted out of the bathroom with her, and the sight of her in skintight jeans and a paper-thin tank top did nothing to stop his rock-hard erection. He couldn’t keep his eyes closed long with her standing so close, so he opened them slightly to peruse her form. Her nipples were stiff and poked through the stretchy material of her tank top as her chest heaved with her heavy breathing. He could see the tension in her muscles, and nervous fear flickered again in her chocolate-colored eyes.

“Shit!” he exclaimed loudly, causing her to jump. “Why the hell are you scared of me? What do you think I’m going to do? Attack you for taking a shower?”

She dropped her gaze and stared at the floor, refusing to talk to him, but he saw her clutch her bag tighter to her body.

“Look at me, Sidney,” he said, trying to soften his tone. It took her a few moments, but when she lifted her eyes back up to meet his, he thought he saw the shimmer of tears in them. He jumped to his feet and wrapped his arms around her, tugging her tight to his chest. He could feel her resist for a second, and then his heart soared when her body relaxed a little into his hold. “Oh, hell, love. You don’t need to cry. I promise I would never hurt you, but I need you to explain what’s going on. What are you doing here this late, and why are you using the shower here instead of at home?”

“Umm…my, uh…my water heater broke, and so I don’t have any hot water at my place. I was hoping I could take a shower real quick and no one would know. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have, and I promise I won’t do it again.” She spoke against his muscular chest. The whole time he held her with his chin on the top of her head and his hands softly rubbing against her back.

Tyce hesitated before responding. He wasn’t sure he believed her story, but he couldn’t think of a reason why she would lie to him either. “Why didn’t you just ask one of us? We would have at least stayed to make sure you were safe while you were here alone.”

“I’m sorry. I won’t do it again,” she whispered softly.

He pulled back to look down at her face, but she refused to meet his gaze. He could see the nervous tension in her muscles, and her hard nipples grazed across his chest. Moving one hand to the small of her back, he used the other to tip her face up. When she finally lifted her lashes to look at him, his stomach dive-bombed. Her brown eyes were still wary, but they were also filled with lust. She wanted him, and by God, he wanted her. He bent and captured her mouth in a hard kiss, relief washing over him when she didn’t push him away. He used his hand at her back to press her more firmly against his hard cock, and he smiled inside when she whimpered in her throat and opened to him.

He let his tongue sweep into her mouth, gently licking her tongue and teeth. Her flavor was sinfully sweet as he explored her mouth completely. When he felt her tentatively suckle at his tongue, his own heat level doubled. He wanted to feel her mouth on his hot length and taste her sweet honey on his tongue. His kisses drifted across her jaw and down her throat to her collarbone, and when he reached the tendon where her neck and shoulder came together, he bit her gently, causing her to cry out.

Blood pooled in his balls, and his eyes popped back open to see her. She was amazing. With her head thrown back and her hair curling softly from her shower, she looked like a mythical nymph caught in the throes of passion. He tugged her crimson tank top up and tucked it above her breasts so that he could taste her sweet nipples. When his mouth latched on to one of the dusky-pink buds, she arched hard against him, tangling her fingers into his shaggy brown hair. She held him tightly against her as he devoured her sensitive breasts.

Desperate to feel her against his aching erection, he shifted his body until he had one thigh between hers and almost came when she rocked on his leg, trying to reach her pinnacle. He could feel her juices through the denim of her jeans, leaving a damp spot on his own, and his mouth went completely dry. He wanted to taste her, now.

The moment he started to push her toward the desk, Sidney’s body went completely rigid, and she placed her hands flat on his chest, shoving him away.

“What the…?” he yelped as he lost his balance and his butt hit the corner of the desk behind him.

“Stop! I can’t do this! We can’t do this!” She yanked her top back into place and then crossed her arms over her luscious breasts, hiding them from him.

“Why the fuck not?” he protested.

“Look, I’m sorry if I gave you the wrong impression, but I’m not interested in having sex with you,” she said, taking a step closer to the office doorway.

“The hell you’re not. Darling, I’m rocking a hell of a hard-on because you were just creaming all over my thigh a second ago, and you want me to believe you aren’t interested? Why not? Something wrong with me?” He glared at her, and she shivered.

“No! Not at all. I mean, you are perfect, or at least you would be perfect to have sex with, I mean if I were interested in having sex at all. But I’m not, I’m mean…I’m interested in having sex, but not with anyone, not right now. I mean, umm. Shoot. Can we please just forget this ever happened?” She fumbled for the right words, and Tyce’s tension eased just a little bit at her discomfort.

He figured out quickly that she was feeling rushed, and he needed to back off. He wasn’t ready to give up though, not after feeling her wildfire and holding her in his arms. There was no denying his attraction to her now that he had tasted her. So much for taking it slow and asking her on a date.

“I don’t think I can forget this, Sidney.”

“Please, Tyce, I just can’t—”

“I want you,” he said honestly. Her brown eyes were still dark with passion, and her lips parted involuntarily.

“Look, I can’t sleep with you, no matter what. Please, just accept that, and we can both move on. I can’t answer all of your questions right now. I just can’t…I will just turn in my uniform tomorrow and pick up the rest of my pay.” She went from pleading with him for understanding to thick determination, and his ears picked up just the slightest hint of panic.

Instinctively, Tyce knew all was not as it seemed with their new little bartender. He had spoken at length with his brothers after Noah interviewed her and offered her the job on the spot. Marines were usually a fairly cautious bunch that didn’t jump into trusting anyone, and Noah had shot that all to hell when this sexy little siren sashayed into their bar. Tyce was willing to give her some rope and see if she was worth trusting based on Noah’s gut, but Xavier held his past betrayals close to his heart and believed that she would end up hanging herself with any rope they gave. Now she was standing inches from him, worked up into a fine lather of sexual arousal, and she wanted him to just let her walk away without any explanations?

He grabbed her arm as she turned away from him toward the doorway to the office.

“Hang on a minute. I didn’t fire you, so you’d better be here for your shift tomorrow. And the next time you want to use any of the bar facilities, just ask. I would have let you use the shower, love, but you go sneaking around and you’re going to get into trouble. I get the feeling you aren’t interested in any trouble right now, but I can’t quite put my finger on why. What’s got you jumping like a scared bunny, Sidney?” He watched her closely. Her eyes had met his briefly when he had told her she still had a job, but then she went back to staring at the doorway like it was a lifeline that was just barely out of her reach. He shoved his hand through his thick hair and shook his head. Snatching up one of his personal business cards from the desk behind him, he quickly jotted down his private cell phone number. “Fine, don’t tell me yet, but sooner or later you have to trust someone. Just come find me when you’re ready, and Sidney…”

He paused, waiting for her to meet his heated gaze, and then he slid the card into the back pocket of her jeans with a gentle teasing caress across her ass. “We will finish this.”

At those parting words, Sidney ran. She moved fast, not even pausing to make sure the door latched behind her as she exited the building. She ran the four blocks to her car, which was parked down the road in the only town park in Apache Crossing. She was almost out of gas and had resisted driving the couple of blocks to work to conserve what she could. She also didn’t want to have to answer questions from anyone that might notice the blankets and pillow in the backseat or the clothes in the passenger seat. As she reached her temporary residence, she dropped her bag of clothes onto the passenger seat with the rest of her measly wardrobe and let herself collapse against the cold metal of the door. She bent at the waist, trying to catch her breath from sprinting all the way here. Once the stars stopped spinning behind her eyelids, she made herself move to settle into the backseat of the little Honda for the night.

Thank God he didn’t fire me, she thought to herself. Her body still hummed with arousal, and she could still taste Tyce on her lips. That kiss was like nothing she had ever experienced in her life, and she couldn’t help but feel a little bit of regret that they hadn’t finished what they started.

Tyce’s words echoed in her mind as she tried to make her long frame comfortable on the small backseat. She let herself imagine that the encounter had ended differently, and as she fantasized her hand slid down to her dripping pussy.

Tyce’s hands were on her ass as his mouth sucked hard on her nipples. She slid her own hands past the buttons of his shirt and let her fingers explore the hard ridges of his tight chest and abs. He groaned against her breast, and it vibrated straight through her. Everywhere his fingers touched, fire danced over her skin, and her pussy dripped with anticipation. Slowly he slid to the floor in front of her, unsnapping her jeans as he went, drawing them down her thighs and exposing her arousal to his electric-blue gaze. She leaned back against the bathroom door, letting her legs fall slightly open to give him room, and tangled her fingers in his messy brown hair. His hot breath hit her swollen folds first, making her shiver and gasp. His blazing blue eyes met hers just as he licked her from front to back. Her eyes snapped shut as lust slammed into her. He held her open with his fingers, his shoulders an immovable wedge between her thighs, and he feasted on her cream. Two fingers sunk deep into her wet heat just before he took her aching clit between his teeth and bit down gently. The erotic edge of pain sent her over the cliff, bringing her to a white-hot orgasm…

Sidney came all over her hand and the backseat with the hot fantasy searing her brain. A blush of heat warmed her cheeks, and she laughed out loud at herself for being embarrassed when she was alone. Enjoying the ripples of satisfaction from her orgasm, she used some tissues to clean herself up before righting her skewed clothes and closing her eyes.

For some reason her gut was telling her that taking the job at Triple Shot had changed her path in life. The three Dawson brothers touched a place inside of her that she hadn’t even realized was there.

Of the three of them, Xavier made her the most nervous, because he had a temper, and his voice could bellow loud and deep when he wanted it to. He was the bulkiest of the three brothers, and had a good forty pounds on Robert, but every bit of his bulk was rock-hard muscle. When he was nearby, she itched to confirm that assumption by touching him, but her fear of upsetting him held her back.

Xavier kept his hair cut in a military buzz cut, and his blue eyes had chips of ice embedded deep within them. His face was sharp edges, and his jaw was square except for the hint of a dimple in his chin. He wore a gold hoop in one ear that looked sexy as hell when paired with the black ink on his bicep. He was wickedly sexy, and just the sound of him revving the engine of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle made her tingle in all the right places. More than once she had wondered what it would feel like to climb on the back of that bike and wrap her arms around his waist.

Noah was the baby of the trio, and he was the least intimidating. His brown hair was curly and messy, and his blue eyes were a soft aqua color like she imagined the Gulf of Mexico to be. He was gentle, and affectionate, constantly reaching out to touch her, or brush her hair away from her face. She wasn’t used to men touching her gently, but she enjoyed the warmth and kindness that she felt around him. He was the tallest of the brothers at six foot four, and he reminded her of an oversized teddy bear.

Lately he had been asking her for help on projects and spending more time with her. She almost swallowed her tongue the other day when he asked her if she was seeing anyone. She stammered no as she stared at him dumbly, wondering if he was going to ask her out, but then Tyce popped in and interrupted them. She wasn’t sure if she was relieved or disappointed at the time, but now with her walls of protection back up around her, she was glad she hadn’t had to turn him down.

Tyce was the flirty, extroverted one of the brothers. His hobby as the lead singer in the band kept him front and center most of the time, and he genuinely seemed to enjoy being the center of attention, especially female attention. Always laughing, he charmed the staff and customers alike. He liked to make wisecracks and sexy innuendos, and he, too, seemed inordinately fond of touching her when they worked together.

As she drifted off to sleep, visions of Tyce’s shoulder-length brown hair, and deep-blue eyes flickered in her mind. She couldn’t resist wondering if reality would be as perfect as fantasy.
