As I continued in deep thought, Dana squirmed around on the couch. When she saw me in the chair, she moved her hair away from her face and slowly sat up.
“What time is it?” She squeezed her forehead then reached for her watch on the table. After seeing what time it was, she looked at me. “How long have you been here?”
I ignored her question and continued to stare.
“Jonathan, did you hear me?”
I nodded. “Too long, Dana. I've been here for too long.”
She moved the towel away from her and slowly walked over to me, placing her hand on the side of my face.
“Make love to me, tonight,” she softly whispered. “Please don't tell me you're too tired or you don't feel like it, okay?”
I closed my eyes and placed my hand over hers to stop her from touching me. Trying to get my thoughts together, I finally opened my eyes to look at her. “Did you ask Lewis the same question today?”
She took a hard swallow. “I'm aware that you know. I can tell by the look in your eyes and by the sound of your voice. An . . . and all I can say is that I'm sorry. I'm sorry for hurting you and I never intended for things to go this far.”
This time, I took a hard swallow as I'd finally heard it straight from her mouth. A sense of relief came over me, but the pain inside was unlike any pain that I'd felt before.
“Sorry?” I said, as a tear rolled down my face. “Is that all you can stand there and say to me?”
She kneeled down. “There's so much more, but before you go making any critical decisions, I want you to listen to me. I love you,” she said, touching my hand. “But there were so many things wrong in our marriage that—”
I snatched my hand away from hers. “If there was so many things wrong, Dana, you should have confided in me! Why didn't you come to me and tell me?”
“I tried.” She dropped her head and cried. “I tried so hard, but you never had time to listen to me. I asked you over and over to make time for us and you never would. I was so lonely, baby, I swear—”
“I don't want to hear it!” I said, standing up. “I want you out of this house and out of my life as soon as possible. You are not going to blame me for your fuckups, Dana, and I mean it!”
“Jonathan, please baby, listen to me.” She followed me into the bedroom. “I . . . I can't make it without you. You are my life. I made a mistake and I said I'm sorry.”
“It's not that simple!” I turned around, gritting my teeth. “Sorry my ass! I want a divorce and there's nothing else that needs to be said.” I walked into the bathroom and slammed the door.
I could hear Dana's cries through the door, and hurting my damn self, I let some tears fall too. Our marriage meant everything to me, and knowing that we were about to lose it tore me up on the inside. In so much pain, I took off my clothes, sat on the seat in the shower, and let the warm water pour on me.

SYLVIA

I rushed out of the office, thinking about what I'd done. If allowing Jonathan to fuck me wasn't bad enough, confirming for him Dana and Lewis' relationship definitely was. S

was written across my face, and even though my pussy felt complete satisfaction, I was a wreck.
After I went home and showered, I sat in front of the TV that had buzzed for hours. I thought about Jonathan the entire time. God was I loving this man so much. I couldn't help myself, and after what happened between us today, I loved him even more. His touch was all I'd imagined it to be, and how gentle he was, I couldn't stop thinking about him. He was deeply hurt, though, and I'd never seen him look so torn before. The look in his eyes, as he held me in his arms, I'd never forget. I could kill Dana for cheating on him. If anybody deserved to be hurt, it for surely should not have been Jonathan.
Dana called several times about us getting together over the weekend, but I wasn't sure if it was one of her attempts to use me so she could see Lewis. Either way, I put off her phone call until early Saturday morning. When I called her, Jonathan answered their home phone. I was almost at a loss for words.
“Hi, uh, Jonathan. Is Dana there?”
“No.”
I paused before speaking again. “O . . . okay, well, I'll try her cell phone.”
“She's at her parents' house.”
“I see. So, did you get a chance to talk to her last night?”
“We're getting a divorce, Sylvia. But, I don't want to talk about it right now. I'll see you Monday.”
“I thought you weren't coming in on Monday.”
“I'll be there.”
“Okay. And, again, thanks for the flowers. They're beautiful, but I'm starting to feel as if I'm at a funeral home or something.”
Jonathan let out a soft snicker. “I'll cancel the ones I have set up for delivery on Monday and Tuesday.”
“Please. There's no room in my house for any—”
“No explanation needed. I'll cancel them. Good-bye, Sylvia.”
“Good-bye, Jonathan.”
I could feel and hear the pain in his voice. Desperately wanting to know what went down, I hurried to call Dana's parents' house. When Mama Bell answered, she said Dana had gone horseback riding with her father. She asked me if I knew what happened between Jonathan and Dana, but I pretended not to know a thing. Mama Bell promised me she'd have Dana call me as soon as she got back.
Around five o'clock that evening, Dana called. She sounded like she was a basket case and said that she was on her way over to see me. Not knowing how I was going to react after screwing her husband, I prepared myself for an uncomfortable and awkward situation.
When the doorbell rang, I thought it was Dana, but when I opened the door it was Britney. She waved good-bye to someone in a Ford Escort and stepped into my house.
“What are you doing here?” I asked.
“I'm spending the weekend with you. You told me I could come over anytime I felt like it.” She took her backpack off her shoulders and put it in the chair.
I closed the door. “Now, I don't remember saying all that, but you need to call first, Britney.”
“Call for what? You don't ever answer your phone.”
“You need to call just in case I have one of my li'l . . . little playmates over here or something.”
She laughed. “You said that you weren't, but I bet you were wild back in high school, Sylvia.”
“Okay, so I'm a hoochie mama now, but back then, trust me, sista girl was all good.”
“If you say so,” she said, following me into the kitchen. She sat on a stool in front of the counter, watching as I put the finishing touches on my spaghetti. Not wanting Dana to see her, I asked Britney if she wouldn't mind chilling in my room until we finished talking. Insisting that she didn't want to see Dana, she agreed.
Almost an hour later, I opened the door and Dana came in. She tightly embraced me and tears immediately rushed to the brim of her eyes. I rubbed her back, and then invited her inside so she could sit.
“Have a seat and calm down,” I said. “I cooked some spaghetti. Would you like some?”
She shook her head, plopped down in the chair and took a hard swallow. “Maybe later. I . . . I just, girl, you . . . you don't know how I feel right now.”
“No, I don't, but tell me what happened.” I sat on the couch that was next to the chair. “I called you this morning and Jonathan said you were at your parents' house. He mentioned something about a divorce?”
“Yes.” Dana covered her face. “He knows about Lewis and me. I tried to explain it to him, but he just doesn't understand.”
“Did you expect him to, Dana?”
“No, but I at least thought he would understand what I've been going through. Then again, shit, I don't know. A huge part of me really thought he would forgive me.”
“So, how do you know he won't forgive you?”
“Because you should have seen the look in his eyes. He was so disappointed and disgusted with me. I've never seen him cry before. He was hurt, Sylvia, and nothing I could say or do would change his mind.”
“I hate to say this, but I—”
“I know, I know,” she said, folding her arms and rocking back and forth. “Please don't say you told me so. I know I screwed up. I met Lewis at the Holiday Inn yesterday so I could tell him we needed to chill. I could tell Jonathan was getting suspicious and it was a matter of time that the truth came to the light.”
“Chill, huh. That's all you intended to do with Lewis was chill? For how long, Dana? A month? Two months? Three? How long?”
“No, this time, I wanted it over. Lewis kept trying to talk me out of it, but I knew calling it off with him was for the best.”
Frustrated with Dana, and at myself for even getting involved, I poured both of us a drink. I handed the glass of wine to her and sat back down on the couch. Dana rambled through her Coach purse for some Kleenex, and then took a sip from the glass. She leaned back in the chair, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath.
“I guess he's responsible for all of these flowers around here, huh?” she questioned.
“Dana, please don't start. Don't go digging up dirt on him because you messed up.”
“I'm not, but he hasn't given me roses in years. Of course I'm going to be upset when I see you with all of these darn flowers.”
“It was just a friendly gesture. Secretary's Day is over, and since it bothers you that much, I promise you I will never gripe again.”
She laughed and wiped her runny nose. “Good. And since you're my best friend, and you seem to be the only person who can knock some sense into my husband's head, I need a favor.”
“What?”
“I need for you to help me get my man back.”
“Dana, look, I'm out of it. There's nothing I can say or do that will help you get Jonathan back, trust me.” Not wanting to go there with her, I got off the couch and turned on the TV. I pretended that it had my attention, and I hoped she didn't notice me fidgeting.
“Sylvia, please. Just talk to him for me. Let him know how much I love him. Tell him I would never do anything to hurt him, please. He'll listen to you.”
“No, he won't. If anything, he's going to be mad at me for knowing about you and Lewis and not saying a word. I'm sure he's put one and two together and figured out I lied to him about us being together on the weekends. I need my job, Dana, so keep me out of it.”
I got up again, but this time I went into the kitchen. Dana followed me in her loud heels that sounded off on my hardwood floors. I pulled two plates from the kitchen cabinet, but when I asked again if she wanted any spaghetti, she declined and said that she didn't want any food to get on her white pantsuit.
“Thanks, though,” she said, swinging her long hair over to the side. “I'm not staying. Daddy wants me to do something for him so I gotta get back soon. Think about what I said and help a sista girl out this time. I know I've always complained about you being in my business, but you might be the only person who can help me save my marriage.”
After that comment, I couldn't even look Dana in her eyes. All I did was shrug. “I'll do what I can, Dana.”
“Try hard and let me know if you make any progress. Thank you.”
She kissed me on the cheek, gave me another hug and left. As soon as she closed the front door, Britney came out of my room with her hands on her hips.
“Oh, no she didn't cheat on my damn daddy!”
“Britney, watch your mouth and calm down.”
“Sylvia, I know she's your friend, but she will not misuse him.” Britney picked up the phone.
“Who are you calling?”
“My father, that's who. I'm telling him to come pick me up.”
“Put the phone down, Britney.”
Before I could say anything else, Britney left Jonathan a message about his conniving-ass wife, and told him to call her cell phone as soon as possible. After she told him she loved him, she hung up.
“I thought you cared about my father, Sylvia. How could you defend her when you know she's wrong for that?”
“I'm not defending her. It's up to Jonathan to do something about it. Not me, you, or anyone else.”
“Then please don't try to talk him into getting back with Dana. I can't stand her and she can't stand me. He don't need to be with her anyway.”
“Again, Britney, that's your father's choice. Now, do you want some of this spaghetti or not?”
“Of course,” she said, sitting down to eat.
We ate dinner together. After dinner, we rented some movies and chilled out in the living room to watch them. No sooner had I slid in the first movie, than the phone rang. When I answered, it was Jonathan.
“Are you alone?” he asked.
“No.”
“Male or female?”
“Young female.”
“Britney?”
“Yes.”
“Come see me.”
“When?”
“Now.”
“Where?”
“At my house.”
“No way.”
“Then at the office in one hour.”
“Good-bye,” I said, hanging up.
I looked at Britney. “Who was that?” she asked.
“A friend of mine I'm meeting for a drink.”
“I thought we were going to watch some movies, Miss Hottie.”
“We are, as soon as I get back. I won't be too long, but in the meantime,” I said, taking
Training Day
out of the DVD player so I could see Denzel a little later, “save him for last.”
I changed into my black silk short dress that crisscrossed in the front and tied around my waist. Pretending to be headed out for a quick night on the town, I put on my black strapped high-heeled shoes and sprayed on a tiny dash of perfume. Not having enough time to mess with my hair, I slicked it back with gel and flipped my ends.
I grabbed my purse and headed to the door. “I'll be back soon.”
“Shooky-shooky, na. Look at you all glamorous looking. With that dress on, I will see you tomorrow morning.”
I smiled. “Good-bye, Britney. I'll be home tonight.”
On the drive to the office, I didn't know what to expect from Jonathan. Did he have something he wanted to tell me, or was he looking for comfort again. Either way, I went to offer my support.
When I got off the elevator, Jonathan stood in the doorway to the boardroom, watching me. He looked marvelous, casually dressed in black linen pants and a white crisp Ralph Lauren shirt. Slightly nervous, I opened the glass doors to the entryway and came face to face with him. He took my purse off my shoulder and put it in one of the twenty black leather chairs that circled the boardroom's table. When he closed the door and dimmed the lights, I knew exactly what he wanted from me. I stood with my back against the wall, and he stood tall in front of me with his arm resting above my head. He untied my belt and softly rubbed between my breasts with his fingers.
“You're the only peace of mind I have right now, Sylvia. Please don't walk away from me. I need you.” He leaned in and kissed my neck.
“I won't,” I said already dropping my dress to the floor.
I hurried to help Jonathan out of his clothes, and once they were off, we walked over to the boardroom's table. Jonathan took a seat in the chair and I maneuvered my way on the table in front of him. I opened my legs and he placed them on his shoulders. He massaged and pecked them with his melting soft lips. Feeling overly excited about what was about to go down, I laid back and lifted myself so he could remove my panties. After he did, he stood in front of me, and wasted no time putting his dick inside of me. While holding my legs apart, he worked magic on my pussy. I watched his dick disappear inside of me and return with heavy glaze on it. Immediately feeling myself about to come, I grabbed his muscular ass and dug my fingers into it. My actions caused him to stroke harder and much faster.
“Ri . . . right there, baby. You're hitting it! Daaaaamn, you hit it sooooo good!”
I came and was so ready to come again. I lay on my stomach and Jonathan got on the table with me. He pecked down my back, and then licked his tongue between the crack of my ass. He then parted my legs, and within seconds, the action continued.
After all was said and done, we worked well together. I knew exactly what he wanted and he gave me exactly what I needed. We fucked for hours in the boardroom, and we ended up with him sitting in a chair, while I was kneeled down in front of him with his steel damn near down my throat. I was determined to make him forget all about Dana, and by the way he couldn't contain himself in the chair, I figured she was the last person on his mind.
