“Wait.” Kyle sat up. “My backpack. I’ve got condoms and lube.” He dug in his bag, and several strips of condoms landed on the floor beside Evan.

As Kyle searched the bag again, Evan stared at the massive pile of condoms. Apparently Kyle took the official Boy Scouts’ motto to heart. Be prepared. Who knew when you’d have a shot at an orgy? “How many guys were you planning to hook up with during the week we were in Ohio?”

Kyle stilled, the lube in his hand, and his eyes widened. “Just you, you idiot.”

“Oh. Come here.” Evan tugged Kyle back to him. They kissed again, but then a thought stopped him. “Hey, you never told me what happened in that dream.” Kyle shook his head like he was finding the shift from talking to making out to more talking jarring. Which made sense. He’d probably never talked to the guys he was with. He barely knew any of them. “What dream?” he asked.

“With Jake Gallagher.”

“Oh, man.” He rolled onto his back and laughed, not looking like he was going to say anything more. It took a moment of Evan staring down at him before Kyle gave in. “I didn’t like that he was kissing you. I grabbed him by his hair, yanked him away from you, and punched him in the nose. Then I told him to get the fuck out of Castillo’s.”

“No way.”

“Yeah. As soon as he was gone…”

“What?”

“You kissed me, then turned me around, bent me over the table, and fucked the hell out of me.”

“I fucked you?”

“Yeah,” Kyle said. “Well, we never got to finish since I woke up when that guy broke into the apartment. Since then I’ve wanted to tell you…” Kyle glanced over his shoulder. “I should add more wood to the fire.”

“What did you want to tell me?”

“It’s not a big deal. I mean, I guess, I wouldn’t mind if we…”

“If we what?”

Kyle intently stared at the ceiling and sighed. “I’d like you to fuck me sometime.” Take Me Home

Evan was pretty sure he’d stopped breathing. He sucked in a gulp of air. “I didn’t think you were into that.”

“I’m not.” Kyle gave up on the ceiling. “Not with just anyone.”

“Oh. With me?”

“Yeah. I mean, if you want to.”

“I want to!” How big of a dork did he sound like, practically screaming out the words? But he didn’t need to worry. This was Kyle. Who looked like his own brand of dork not being able to say what he wanted in bed.

Evan stroked himself. He was so damn hard just talking about it, thinking about how Kyle wanted his cock driving into him. “Grab a condom and put it on my dick.”

“Now?” Kyle asked.

“Now.”

“You feel okay enough to—”

“Kyle, I want your ass. Now.”

“Okay.” Kyle nodded and reached for a condom. “It’s been a while.” A while. Evan liked the sound of that. He’d been on the receiving end enough times over the years to know how to make this good for Kyle. He’d take his time, draw out every sensation until Kyle was begging him to take him. He kissed him and said, “On your stomach.” He sat up and took the condom from Kyle’s hand, then waited while Kyle positioned himself on the blankets, his curved ass looking irresistible. Evan set the condom aside and stroked that ass, then spread the cheeks.

When his tongue made contact, Kyle rose off the blankets until he was on his knees. “Oh God. More.”

He could do more. Evan buried his face in Kyle’s ass. He licked and sucked, stabbing his tongue in and out, enjoying the heat of Kyle’s body and the all-new begs and moans pouring out of him.

When the words of encouragement cut off and all that slipped out were loud, choppy breaths between the groans, Evan sat up and worked the condom on, then lube. Too much lube, but this time it was on purpose. He couldn’t resist. He ran his lubed dick around Kyle’s hole, along his crease, and then the skin leading to his balls.

Kyle groaned. “Fuck me, Ev. God, want you inside me.”

“Lie on your side.”

Kyle did as instructed without delay.

Evan settled behind him, raised Kyle’s upper leg over his own, and positioned his cock right where he’d been dying to be for so long.

Before he could enter him, Kyle turned his head and said, “Kiss me.” The vulnerability of that request tugged at Evan’s heart. He surged forward and met Kyle’s mouth with his own, the kiss all moist lips, tongue, and deep breaths pouring into each other’s mouths.

“Are you okay?” Evan asked.

“I’m more than okay.”

With those words, the look of lust—and something more—in Kyle’s eyes, Evan pressed forward, and his cock stretched Kyle’s body. He gave him a moment to adjust and breathe, then Evan shifted his hips in slow, measured movements until he was finally fully inside Kyle, the snug fit making him crazy. He ached to drive in and out and never stop. He kissed the back of Kyle’s neck. “You okay?”

“Yes. You feel goddamn huge. I forgot that part.”

Forgot? How long had it been? He licked Kyle’s neck and sucked on his flesh.

“Oh God. Fuck me, Ev.”

That was all he needed. Kyle wanted this. Evan drew back and thrust in. Again and again, focusing on the tight, sweet friction of Kyle’s body on his dick.

“Yes, Ev. Yes!” Kyle arched and slammed his ass back.

Evan couldn’t believe the pressure around his cock was Kyle. Not his hand, not his mouth, but Kyle’s ass. He wanted to go slow, wanted to take his time and really feel every moment. But when they shifted so Kyle was on his knees, his forehead pressed into the blankets, Evan could barely keep from giving in and going at it like he’d never done before.

“Harder,” Kyle cried out. “It’s okay. Pound my ass. Been fucking dying for this.” He let go of any worry, any doubt, and fucked Kyle, grasping the flesh of his hips, burying his cock deep into him with every thrust.

Into Kyle.

His Kyle.

“Ev,” Kyle cried out again. He couldn’t help himself. It was Evan. Fucking him. Finally.

“Touch yourself, Kyle.”

He didn’t think, just did what Evan told him to. He let go of the blanket where he’d been digging in with clenched fingers and reached for his cock. Like the night in his apartment when they’d jerked off at the same time, only this time Evan was taking his ass like he’d been dreaming for months.

That had his balls drawing up.

“Slow at first,” Evan said. “I want you still hard when I come.” He followed Evan’s instruction. Gathering the lube still left on his balls, he rubbed it along his length in slow strokes while Evan thrust again and again. It was torture. Delicious, aching torture.

He wished it to go on forever, but he also wanted Evan to lose it inside him. He drove his ass backward, his body alive with sensations. The slide of Evan’s cock in and out hitting that perfect spot over and over connected every thrust of pleasure in his ass to his dick. He jerked himself faster, his cock on fire in his fist. He squeezed his ass around Evan’s dick, wanting to make this better than anything Evan had ever had. Another squeeze and thrust and Evan groaned loud and long, burying his cock deep inside Kyle’s body as he came. They fell to their sides, exactly as they’d started.

“Oh fuck.” Evan wrapped an arm around Kyle and plastered their damp bodies together.

“That was…”

“Yeah.” That was all Kyle managed when Evan didn’t say more.

Evan slipped from his body and leaned away to work off the condom. A moment later, he pressed against Kyle’s back again, wound an arm around him, and grasped his cock.

That was what Kyle had needed. He let his head fall back to Evan’s shoulder. “No one touches me the way you do. No one has ever done to me what you do.” Evan whispered in his ear. “Come for me, Kyle.”

He came, every muscle going tight, his body shaking. The release of tension and the flood of emotions—of all he felt for this man—overwhelmed him. A laugh surged out of his chest. He would’ve hated this moment a few days ago when he’d been living in denial. Before Lorrie had said those words that had scared him more than anything. That was until he’d seen Evan in the river.

The exhaustion from his two treks through the storm finally hit him. He grasped Evan’s arm and wrapped it tighter around him, holding it to his chest. “Love you.” 128

Chapter Twenty-Four

Evan rolled out from under the blanket, careful not to wake Kyle. The fire had died down, and the cabin had grown cooler through the night. He could put more pressure on his ankle as he crossed the room to the window with the screen lying broken on the floor below it. The storm was gone. No more wind, no new snow falling. It would be morning soon. They needed to head back. At first light. He just hoped no one from the train had been out in the dark looking for them.

He knelt before the fire and added the remaining logs from a basket in the corner of the room. They’d need to leave an apology note for breaking in to whoever’s cabin this was.

The fire came to life again, and two words kept resurfacing in his mind. “Love you.” He’d been so relaxed and ready for sleep after the sex. He couldn’t be sure he’d heard Kyle right. His heart had raced, and he’d jerked fully awake when the words registered, but by then Kyle was asleep.

Probably not a good idea to shake the hell out of someone when he was sleeping, looking blissed out on the high of sex. Not when he’d just saved your life. But Evan would’ve given almost anything to hear those words again. To know for sure.

He returned to their makeshift bed on the floor. He spotted the journal protruding from the top of Kyle’s bag. There were yellow sticky notes poking out from several pages. He picked up the journal and lay beside Kyle again. He ran his fingers over the worn leather. Kyle must have known more about the sixty-year-old bank robbery by now. He’d been reading the journal before Rebecca had gone missing.

Evan tried to piece together what Kyle had mentioned about who Victor had lived with in Colorado. A group of Korean War veterans. Living alone in the wilderness and robbing banks.

Maybe it was his fall down the mountainside the night before, but he couldn’t focus. His mind wandered, and he was off plotting a new story about veterans working for the government to commit acts of domestic terrorism against its citizens in an effort to scare the public and increase federal funding.

He scrambled for Kyle’s bag, and the journal slid off his lap. He needed a pen and something to write on. He found both and made notes for the fictional story he’d stumbled upon.

“What are you doing?” Kyle was rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

“I have an idea for a new screenplay.”

“Screenplay?” With one quick roll, Kyle was on top of Evan, forcing him to his back, his arms above his head. Evan squirmed under the playful touches until Kyle spoke again. “All those boyfriends and you didn’t learn it’s impolite to work when you’re in bed with your lover?” Evan froze. Lover. Boyfriend.

Kyle smiled at him and caressed the skin where he’d been holding Evan down a moment before. “I’m glad you’re still writing.”

“I’m not letting one job and an asshole run me away from this.”

“Good. Because I don’t want to kick your ass. I much prefer eating it.”

“I noticed that on the train.”

“Never done that to any guy before.”

All those men and he’d never… “You haven’t?”

“I’m not a total slut.” He laughed. Slowly, the laughter died off, and Kyle added, “It seemed too personal, too intimate.”

“And having your dick inside some guy wasn’t?” Although, Evan had always thought kissing was the most intimate act between two people.

“Guess I’ve been messed up about sex for a while now. I don’t know.” He waved a hand through the air and asked, “You okay?”

“Yeah. All warm and my ankle hurts less.”

“That’s good, but not exactly what I meant.”

Evan laid a hand on Kyle’s chest, his gaze on the body above him. “Yeah. I’m okay.” He was more than okay. He looked up at Kyle. “Are you?”

“Don’t think I’ve ever felt this okay.” They stared at each other for a moment more. Then Kyle looked to the window across the room. “It’ll be getting light in another hour or so. We need to get back. They’ll be looking for us, if they aren’t already. I just hope we’re not the ones holding up the train now.”

“Yeah.” Evan didn’t want to go. Didn’t want to lose this moment. “Okay.”

“But let’s eat and take advantage of a real shower first.”

“We shouldn’t take their food.”

“We already had sex on their blankets. Nothing else could be that rude. We’ll leave them some money. You’re not walking back without food in you. I’ll go see what they have.” He leaned forward and planted a quick kiss on Evan’s lips, then stood and left the room. Evan settled into the blankets and watched the fire burn.

A moment later, Kyle’s warm lips were on his again. “Time to eat.”

“Oh man, I fell asleep?”

“Not for long. All I found were some frozen pizzas and fries. Nothing in the way of breakfast food.” He set a plate in front of Evan and turned to lie facing him with his own plate of food on the floor beside him. “I tried to call Oscar again, but I’m still not getting a signal, and this place doesn’t have a phone.”

Evan couldn’t stop watching Kyle. Now that they weren’t on the train, everything seemed more real, less like he’d been in a dream world. He focused on the conversation and said,

“Maybe they never get a signal out here. Storm or no storm.”

“Maybe.” Kyle grabbed a slice of pizza and took a bite. When Evan didn’t follow suit, he said, “Eat.”

“I am.” Evan bit off the end of a fry and threw the rest back to his plate.

“You fucking eat some pizza, or I really am coming over there to kick your ass.”

“You’re so bossy.” Evan picked up a slice and took a bite.

“I’m only bossy when I’m right.”

“Yeah.” Evan swallowed and added, “I’m only bossy in bed.”

“So I’ve noticed.” Kyle’s face flushed. He dipped his head and dragged a fry through the mound of ketchup on his plate, swirling it around with a great deal of concentration. Instead of eating the fry, he asked, “Have you always been like that?” Evan went for another bite of pizza before answering. “I’ve never been like that before.”
