“Up for answering some questions?” he asked.

“Me first,” she said. “How’s Foley? Is my dog okay?”

“Both are fine. How are you?” he asked with genuine concern.

“I’m told the wounds were shallow. I’ll live. How is Susan?”

“She’s in a medically induced coma,” he replied. “Shards of glass cut her pretty deep. Lots of stitches.”

“I’m sorry.”

“What happened?”

“She tried to kill me. Came to my house and said she was jealous I was dating Foley. She said she was going stage my death and make it look like the arsonist did it. Did you find her knife?”

“Yes, we found her knife. We found the surveillance system. It took us some accessing it. We had to call the manufacturer. They were able to find your father’s account and passcodes. They walked us through it. Foley had to lie and tell them he was your husband, and once Trenton sent them your deed and the will, they were released a bunch of confidential information.”

“That’s great,” she said.

“It is when it works in our favor. We have nearly a year of surveillance data that we can review, including the hour before we got there showing Susan Gretsky breaking and entering, among other things.”

Savannah sat up trying to understand everything. “I know Susan set the fires. She even admitted it to me.”

“All evidence leads to her. She was our arsonist. How could love turn somebody to such outrageous, criminal activity? She was one of the best vets we had. It’s sad.”

“I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay.”

“Can I see Foley?” she asked.

“I’m sure that can be arranged. He’s been sleeping here. I threatened to arrest him for loitering if he didn’t go bathe and eat,” he said.

Savannah had a nagging question that she just had to ask the sheriff. “I was defending myself. I hope you know that. Am I facing any charges?”

The sheriff tilted his head. “There’s a Stand Your Ground Law in North Dakota. If you had killed her, I couldn’t press charges. There’s more than enough evidence that says she broke into your house and attacked you. It was her bad luck you knew how to defend yourself,” he said. “You and Foley are free to date. And you won’t have to worry about Susan. She’s going to jail for an awfully long time.”

The sound of boots clunking on the hospital linoleum made both Savannah and the sheriff smile.

“You’re about to make someone’s night,” said Sheriff Doug. “If I think of anything, I’ll talk at you. You do the same.”

Laying down and looking up at the very tall sheriff, he looked twice as big as he was. Though he reassured her, Savannah was will anxious. But he smiled. He stayed to watch Foley’s reaction to seeing her awake.

Foley rushed into the room and dropped to the side of her bed on his knees. He took her hands in his and pressed them to his lips. Tears crowded her eyes. She leaned toward him to wrap her arms around him. The sheriff left with a nod.

“I’m so sorry,” Foley said.

“You don’t have to be sorry,” she said.

“If it weren’t for me—” he began.

She put a finger to his lips and quieted him.

“I’m sorry I hurt someone you once loved. But I swear, it was self-defense. It’s over. She’s out of commission for a long, long time,” said Savannah. “I’m not sure I’m at peace with what I did to her, but I couldn’t let her kill me.”

Foley gazed into her eyes.

“I have to say, though,” she continued. “I’m not sure how I’m ever going to get any sleep for a long time, if ever.”

“You can come sleep at my place,” he said softly. “Beau likes it.”

Savannah smiled.

“Are you taking care of Beau?” she asked.

“We’re taking care of each other. We miss you like crazy. I don’t know what she was thinking. I must have set her off when I told her she had to back the fuck off.”

“This isn’t your fault, Foley. You’re entitled to a life,” she said.

“When I married her, I was so in love with her. Like you said, she’s a beautiful woman. But she got ugly.” Savannah stroked his hair, and he continued. “She got abusive. She had an affair. I said enough. After we broke up, she snapped out of it. Started being nice again. By that time, my feelings changed. She would get needier and needier. I was thinking ‘jeez this woman seems to know right when I am going to spend time with Savannah’ because I’d be on my way, and she’d call. I felt so guilty for falling out of love with her that I’d go.”

“Why don’t we see when they say I can be sprung from this joint?” she said. “I really want to go home.”

Foley stood and kissed her on the forehead.

“I love you,” he said, looking deeply into her eyes.

“I love you back,” she answered.

Filled with wickedness, she looked around.

“What?” he asked.

“Please close the door,” she said.

He laughed. Savannah could swear he was blushing.

“My goodness and I thought I was a troublemaker,” he said.

“Please for me? It will be for medicinal purposes only,” she said.

“It’s going cure what ails me that’s for sure,” he said.

Foley obliged. He locked the door and drew the privacy curtain around them.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” he asked.

“Fuck, yeah, I am,” she said boldly. “I was just nicked. But I assure you, I’m fine.”

He kissed her, at first cautiously. But Savannah went on the prowl. She wanted his passion, and she coaxed him along. After a few timidly kisses, he turned on full blast and became the sweetly dominant biker she was madly in love with.

Foley was a gentle lover, but he definitely called the shots. He let her run the show whenever she indicated that was what she wanted. He always sat back with a smile on his face and watched as she gave him pleasure. But he now in the hospital room of all places, was uncharacteristically eager. He was gentle, but he was adamant. His command was exciting for her. She relinquished all control and gave herself over to him.

He swept off her hospital gown from her shoulders and kissed her from one soft, rounded shoulder, across her collar bone which was such a sensitive area. Foley unabashedly muffled her cries with his hand.

Savannah smiled behind his palm signaling to him that she found the semi bondage thrilling. She slid her ankles wide on the sheets making a space for his other hand. Foley found her. His hand was sure and warm, and his fingers slipped inside of her. Savannah reached for him, but he caught her hand.

“Not yet,” he whispered.

It always felt like he knew just a little bit more than she did in bed, and that was okay with her. She shivered with anticipation wondering what came next. She lifted her hips, rocking them against his touch. He obliged, sliding his fingers in and out of her in slow, wicked strokes. While he possessed her this way, he looked so deeply into her eyes. Savannah was entranced.

He trailed kisses from the tip of her chin, along the arch of her neck down the center of her belly. Their chemistry roused such sensitivity in her that each contact almost shocked her. She shook, and she clenched as his mouth traveled down further, and further.

Finally, his mouth was between her legs. His seeking tongue probed her, plunging into her as deeply as it could go. He delved into the folds of her entrance, tasting them all. He flicked his tongue to the tip of her sensitive nub. He did not let up until she was consumed with spasms of delight. Savannah floated. Every cell of her body buzzed with ecstasy.

They were in a hospital room and yet once they came together, all of that reality evaporated. They were healthy, happy and whole and loving their moment. Savannah could have been in the backseat of a really cool car or on the shore of Devil’s Lake where her property hit the water. It did not matter. It was as hot and romantic because she was with Foley.

“You’re so perfect,” he remarked.

His whispers made her shiver. His hand trailed the contours of her body, reaching blindly to feel her hip bones and flat stomach. She was even prouder to share her body with him. Foley turned her over onto her belly. He reached for a pillow and wedged it gently underneath her.

Savannah relaxed comfortably on the bed’s surface knowing that this position did great things for her backside. It created just enough muscular tension and gravity to make the lines of her body and her muscles their smoothest; their firmest.

Foley touched his mouth to the crevice of buttocks.  She was hot and damp from his loving there earlier. The experience from this position was new and exciting. She flexed her bottom back toward him to tantalize him, like a cat stretching.

With a very firm movement, he pulled her at her ankles. It was short swift action that was not harsh but thrilling. He surprised her and it raised her adrenaline. She laughed. If any nurse was walking by it would be clear to him or her that there was something naughty going on in Savannah’s room. Her arousal kicked up that much more. She drew her knees up to her chest just to playfully defy him, and he put her back where he wanted to be.

He pinned her gently with his hands and entered her. Savannah flexed with the pleasure of him. She loved the way he felt. He reached over and put his hands onto of hers lacing them together, enmeshing them as he pushed into her.

She had been in denial before, but she was not now as pounds and pounds of stress released from her body. Tear wet her eyes.

“It’s okay,” he said so softly.

He took hold of her hips and pulled her back toward him so that she was up on all fours. Foley kept his grip on her as he thrust into her again and again. Savannah writhed on the bed surface as her hips were lusciously imprisoned in his powerful hands.

He rubbed the cheeks of her buttocks sending tingled throughout her. Her nipples were hard, and they were sensitive against the texture of the fabric. She arched just enough above the bed as he pumped her, making her breasts wobbling to and fro.

Foley began sucking his breath through his teeth. That was her signal that he was about to shift gears and begin the great climb of passion. She wagged her hips, mixing up the rhythm and putting on a show with her butt. He gave her a playful smack before slipping over the edge of a roaring climax. She quickly reached between her legs and brought back to life the orgasm he had just given her.

The second time coming was even sweeter. Every clench rebounded with even greater pleasure. The two of them crumpled on the bed. It took a moment for the reality of what they had done on the hospital bed to hit them. They lift their heads and laughed.

“Is this the way it’s going to be?  Are we going be unable to resist every opportunity? Are we going to be doing it in closets?” asked Savannah.

“Yes ma’am,” he kissed her softly.

Trenton knocked on the door. Savannah let him in, and he frowned.

“What’s going on?” she said.

“I know what Carolyn is after. There’s a loophole in the will.”

“Oh my gosh. What?”

“Your dad said that he didn’t ever want the family home sold. That if it was rented out or sold, or that even if you left town to reside somewhere else for over a year, the house goes to your stepmom. She wants to chase you out of town so she can have the house and the land.”

“What the fuck?”

“Fucking bitch is turning the tables,” Foley said.

“That wasn’t in the will,” Trenton said. “She forged it. We’ll hire a document detective. We’ll hire a forensic document examiner too. And that’s why she was ransacking your house. She stole the original will and doctored it.”

“So all those stunts she pulled, was to run me the hell out of town?”

“Yes. She hired a few rogue Riggers to fuck with you. I got one of them to confess.”

“Shit.”

“It’s all good. We went through the security tapes and caught the Riggers and Susan on your property.”

“What about Paul?”

“The estate lawyer wasn’t involved. He’s just duped by Carolyn. He still loves her, and will defend her with his very last breath. Sheriff Doug released him from jail. All arson charges against him were dropped. I think he’s just another innocent victim, just like your dad. He’s blinded by her fake love.”

“Stupid fucker,” Savannah muttered.

“The good news is; you won’t have to be bothered by her anymore. She’s going to jail for a very long time.”

“She deserves it.”

“We want you to stay here in Devil’s Lake,” Trenton said. “So please don’t go.”

“I’m not going anywhere.”

Foley wrapped his arm around her. “You better not!”

They all laughed.

Savannah had to wait and conferred with the doctors. They were a little concerned with her emotional state. They were concerned even more when the full reality of the situation hit her. Savannah chalked up her relative inner peace to Foley. He was her comfort and her rock. She assured the doctors she had plenty of support. On hospital orders, Savannah was wheeled to the lobby. The nurse was kind enough to wait with her until Foley showed.

Savannah thought she would fall out of the wheelchair when she saw a biker pull in from the road to the patient drop off, riding what almost looked like a motorcycle attached to a wheeled bullet. It was the strangest contraption she had ever seen. She recognized the rider. Her handsome, wonderful biker.
