“I have a background with the human military and Department of Defense. I know how they think. I can be an asset in this situation and help the brothers get to Parliament. You didn’t pick me for my knowledge of paranormal politics but how to keep us blended among humans and our security. It was as if you knew in your wisdom this day might come.”
“No, not even close,” Daniel sighed. “I was thinking you would be helpful now coming up with an escape plan. It might be best to flee to another location. They have to know of this one if our phones are tapped. How did they even get them in here?”
“I don’t know but you don’t need me to relocate, which I agree with. Set up something and start getting supplies there. I would make a deal with some shifter allies to combine resources because we’ll need blood.” He paused as his director debated. “I wouldn’t be gone more than a couple of weeks of course. I would keep you apprised of the situation and still help with most of the planning.”
“Of that I have no doubt.” The director nodded in agreement and then rotated his tired neck. “I just never thought we’d come to this day and I find myself very tired.”
“We’ll get through it. You’re old enough to have survived worse, I’m sure,” I said as I leaned up and kissed his cheek. “We need the wisdom of guys like you to help ones who will get trampled all over like me.” I bit my lower lip, not wanting to insult him and he caught me.
“Speak freely, dear Chicago. I won’t hold it against you. It’s just us.”
“Will you only help those who give you something in return? Can’t someone just promise to help the coven? I mean, I wouldn’t have had anything to give you for protection if I wasn’t at the core of this. Would you have turned me away?”
“No, but we would have asked for blood. If we’re providing protection and a place of safety, we need to be fed. Plus, everyone would need to work to see all the jobs were done.”
“That’s fair. I just didn’t know if they had to have their payment upfront.”
“No, we are not so cold.” He gave me a sad smile.
“Never said that. Just curious, so if we come across others who need help, I can tell them I know a wonderful director who will take them into his fold if they promise to work for the common good and help feed his vampires,” I told him firmly. I leaned up and kissed him, not caring that Aurelo was there. “If someone shows up here saying I sent them, would you hate me? Be mad at me?”
“No, but I might ask you to come explain yourself in person after you’re done with the PP,” he growled playfully, nipping my lower lip. “Naked of course.”
“Why, Daniel, I do believe you’re flirting with me,” I giggled as I batted my eyelashes at him, laying it on thick.
“That depends if you would consider visiting again? If I thought it not only best for my coven that Aurelo travel with you but would be an additional way to keep you safe might that make you want to spend some time here?”
“I wouldn’t come alone…” I hedged, letting him fill in the rest.
“Your brothers are always welcome as well.”
“They do have a friend here.” I smiled. “I won’t come without them, Daniel. We’ve lost too much already, but yeah, we can’t go back home. I don’t know what the future holds, but let me assure you if I could, I’d stay another night. Would that be a soon enough visit? Does that ease your mind about how I feel?”
“Yes, dear Chicago,” he chuckled. I rolled my eyes as he kissed the tip of my nose before handing me over to Aurelo. “Pack what you need and accompany them. Do what you must to protect their mission and keep Chicago safe. A very wise suggestion, Aurelo. I knew you were the right choice.”
“Thank you, Director.” He gave a slight bow with me in his arms. Daniel acknowledged the gesture before focusing on me.
“Sleep well and I will see you before you depart.”
“Sounds good.” Once we were in the hall, I tapped the massive chest I was snuggled against. “I can walk. I’m okay. I was just wobbly before.”
“He said to keep you safe. You are safest right here,” he said in a strange voice. Odd but I was too tired to try and play guessing games as to what was up with anyone right then.
It was well after five in the morning as Aurelo carried me towards the room I’d been given. I couldn’t remember what time we’d gotten to the coven but that we’d gone in the Federal building at like seven at night, thinking it was late enough where there wouldn’t be too many suspicious eyes, but not so late at night that it would send up red flags.
If I had to guess, I’d say eight-ish, which meant I’d been having sex for over eight and a half hours. Go me! It was definitely a night I would never forget and thoroughly enjoyed.
I was just starting to doze against him when he turned a corner off the main hallway and flipped me out of his arms. I gave a soft gasp and found myself pressed against the wall, my heart catching in my throat as I instinctively threw out my hands to push him away. Was Aurelo really the enemy? Could he be working with the humans?
“Please, Chicago, I must have you. I know you are exhausted and spent, but I am so full of need for you I might shatter if I don’t feel you again.” His hands moved under the robe and found my ass, whimpering when he found my hole slicked up. “Why are you slicked up?”
“Daniel said it was some type of tightening cream. He was sure shifters went back to normal but he said I was too precious to risk,” I whispered, still thrown by the turn of events.
“He’s right. You are too precious to risk in any way,” Aurelo breathed against my lips. “I lied earlier, Chicago.”
I swallowed loudly and met his gaze. “About what?”
“About why I want to go with to deliver the files to the PP. Yes, I want to keep the coven in the loop and I care what happens to us all. But that was not the main reason.”
I moaned as he started kissing along my jaw and tilted my neck to give him room. Aurelo undid the belt of my robe and wrapped my legs around his hips. As his fingers teased my hole, I momentarily forgot what we were talking about.
“Wh-what is the reason?”
“You. You are the reason. To spend more time with you, Chicago. To have a chance to be with you, to please you. To be alone with you so you might allow me to spoil you so that you might want me as much as I want you.”
“You’d risk your life on a dangerous, probably suicidal mission just to fuck me some more?” I asked, disbelief in my tone. What the hell was wrong with this guy?
“I did not say just to
fuck
you,” he growled as he leaned back and moved his head so we were nose to nose. “You’re special and not just your ass. I had fun just talking and teasing you. I won’t get any more of that if you leave and I’m here or if you die trying to get to DC. I must go with you to see what might be between us. That’s more than sex.”
“But you’re begging me for sex now.”
“I can’t help how much I want you. I want an encounter of just ours as you had with the director. I want you.”
“You have me,” I moaned as his fingers almost went inside me. “I didn’t
beg
him, Aurelo. I begged you earlier and you moved away from me.”
“Not by choice,” he bitched as he undid his pants. “I wanted what you did more than my next breath. Let me make amends. Let me give you now what we both wanted.”
“You have to wind me back up like that again first.” I shot him a smirk when he glanced at me. I got back a challenging growl, and the next thing I knew, he was playing my body like an instrument again. It took even less time than the other rounds he teased me before I was blabbering my pleadings that he take me.
And did he ever!
It added to the experience that anyone could catch us at any time having kinky hallway sex. I’d never done it against a wall like that. It seemed I liked it.
“Oh gods, yes, right there,” I moaned as I pressed my lips to his ear, trying to keep my voice down. “Fuck, your cock is so huge, Aurelo. You hit every good spot inside me.”
“Like your body was made for me.” He grunted and picked up the pace.
“I’m close,” I warned him.
“It is not about the blood. I needed to feel you and this only as we could have together.”
“Then go faster,” I begged. Not that any of them really went
slow,
but they tended to lose momentum slightly when they bit me so they didn’t do something silly like tear out my throat. I wanted to feel him pounding into me through my orgasm.
“Yes, my sexy minx.” He held me tighter and slammed into me with such ferocity that I was baffled we didn’t leave a dent in the stone behind me.
I fisted his shoulder-length black hair, my fingers tangling in the curls as I yanked on it to get his mouth to mine. Screaming as I came, I let him swallow down the noise, so we weren’t discovered. I felt wet heat splash over both of us as he didn’t slow down and pushed right through my spasming muscles. Our tongues twisted and entwined as he shot deep inside me just as my own orgasm was starting to finish.
I moaned, his climax sending little aftershocks throughout my ass and groin. Aurelo pumped every drop into my very willing body, and then even when he was spent, ground his hips against me as if letting me know he didn’t want it to be over.
“Please tell me that will not be our only time,” he gasped as he broke the kiss. “Swear it to me, Chicago. I will give or do anything for such a promise.”
“No deals. No trades. No arrangements for me anymore,” I growled, pissed because I thought we’d moved past that.
He went pale as he stared at me, looking as if I’d slapped him. “I-I didn’t mean i-it l-like that. I was just trying to show you how much I truly want y-you. You are not a possession or commodity to trade.”
I searched his eyes and saw only the truth. “Okay, then I promise I want to do that again. That’s all I can promise. We’re going to be traveling with my brothers. Good luck getting inside me. If you can figure out a way, I will say yes though.”
“Leave that part to me.” He gave me a fangy smile and got hard in me again. Rock on. It seemed I was getting laid on this road trip… If I didn’t die first.

“Wake up, lazy bones,” Seattle said none too gently the next morning when he barged into the room. I flicked him off and rolled back over.
“Tired. Too early,” I muttered as I snuggled into the pillow.
“Chicago, it’s after one.” I could hear the panic in his tone and started to turn towards him, but before I could, he yanked on my shoulder and started checking my neck. “How bad were they to you? I’ll kill those bastards if they hurt you.” I was going to tell him he was overreacting until I saw his eyes were shining. Damn. I didn’t think the man ever teared up. I mean, yeah, we all shed them when Mom and Dad died, but other than that he wasn’t one to ever break.
“Seattle, I’m fine. Seriously,” I whispered. He lowered his hand, still searching my eyes as if not sure he should believe me. I stretched my arms overhead and gave him a shit eating grin. “Best night of my life honestly. Your baby brother was a stud. I mean they were begging me to give them a break from my loving and just to ease up on how randy I got in between jumping them and all when—”
“All right, all right,” he chuckled, waving his hands out in front of him as if swatting the images I was giving him. “So they were good to you? I mean really. It’s just us here.”
“Yeah, they were good to me.” I sat up and made sure the bedding kept me covered. I’d been too tired to care if I had been dressed when Aurelo had tucked me into bed. Now that Seattle had barged in, I was glad I had said the vampire shouldn’t stay overnight though. “I didn’t know it could be like that honestly. I mean, that intense. They always make it look it like it’s life or death need to get off in porn, but well, that’s
porn
.”
“And as I keep trying to remind Boston, porn is not reality, so good that one brother understands this,” he drawled. He cleared his throat and turned serious. “I’m glad you got to experience something different and a wild ride. Everyone should have at least one of those in their lives. Even if I’m your big brother and not exactly a fan of it.”
“Better than what I’ve had so far.” My cheeks flamed at the admission.
“I know. Orlando fessed up once. He heard you crying about being an idiot after that guy who took your virginity. You’re not an idiot, Chicago. You have a big heart. It’s a virtue. If I’d been a better brother, I wouldn’t have let people break it.”
“Yes, that’s
your
job,” I snickered, smacking him on the chest. “That’s completely logical. I’m a grown ass man. Thank you for the concern and having my back, but if I need advice or your help, I’ll let you know. I got things. We all have to go through getting our hearts broken. It’s one of those rite of passage things Mom and Dad used to tell us about that turn us into adults.”
“Fine, but I don’t have to like it.” He leaned in lightening quick and kissed my cheek before popping to his feet. “I’m just glad it’s over and we can head to DC now and drop off the information before we disappear. No more vampires for a while.”
“Um, yeah, not so much.” I slipped out of bed on the other side and darted into the bathroom. He growled and pounded on the door, asking me what I meant. I didn’t answer while I took my morning pee break, but when he heard the shower, he came in. I quickly washed as I filled him in, ignoring his little comments and grunts of annoyance.
