Chapter 9

Nick

“
Nick, why haven't I heard from you since yesterday morning?” Ny asked me as soon as she walked in the room.

“
Ny, what are you even doing here, ma?”

“
Don't answer a question with a question.  Why haven't I heard from you?”

“
Shit has been fucked up, ma, niggas are coming for us, and I'm trying to figure the shit out.”

“
So, why can't you come to me?  Let me help.”

“
Ma, what can you do?  My spots keep getting hit, and on top of that I have to go to Florida tomorrow to meet with my connect and explain this shit to her.” I said.

I wa
s trying not to yell, but what Ny was bitching about wasn't that serious.

“
I don't know how I can help, but just tell me what I got to do, and I'll do it.  I'm just trying to be there for you.  Stop pushing me away.” she said and started crying.

“
Come on, ma, stop crying.  You have to go home and get packed so you can take this flight with me tomorrow.” I said trying to make her feel better.

“
Nigga, don't think just cause I'm crying I'm not coming to Florida with your ass.  I have to make sure that you don't get into any trouble.” she said laughing.

“
Ma, you know I'm not even into all of that.”

“
Yea, ight, play boy.” she said.

“
You gonna chill with me for the rest of the day?” I asked her.

I really didn't want her to leave cause I was trying to slide up in t
hat because it would be a well needed distraction.

“
Yea, I'll chill with you, but I gotta go check up on Diamond to make sure she cool.”

“
Why wouldn't she be cool?” I asked a little confused.

“
Cause she just found out she pregnant, and Trey hasn't talked to her in like three days.” she said.

“
Damn, I didn't even know they was fucking around, but she cool, ma, I know my nigga gonna handle his business.”

“
I'm still gonna check on her and make sure.”

“
Ny, before you leave, when you gonna give me a baby?” I asked her serious as hell.

“
When the time is right, play boy.”

And with that, she walked out of the room.  I just laughed at her cause Ny was really something else.  She went from being pissed off, to crying, to laughing.  Women are some emotional people I sw
ear.

Trey

I couldn't believe that Diamond said she was pregnant.  Everything in me wanted to go after her, but I felt like it wasn't the time, and she needed time alone.  Damn, I was really gonna be a father.  This really wasn't the time to be having a ba
by, but since I was having one, I was gonna step up and take care of my responsibilities.

“
Hey, Trey, where is Diamond.” Ny asked sitting down on the couch next to me.

“
She left a while ago” I told her not really wanting to go into detail about what happened.

“
Did she tell you what was up?”

“
Yea she told me man.”

“
And you just let her leave?  What kind of shit is that?” she asked.

“
Ny, I'm not trying to have this conversation with you.  She told me that her and the baby would be fine without me and took off.” I tried to explain.

“
How could you just let her leave when she is carrying your baby?  She might not admit it, but she needs you right now.  She only said that out of anger, but she just want you to be there for her like you said you would.” Ny said.

I'
m not gonna lie, everything Ny said made sense, but I'm not with all of the games.  All I wanted her to do is to say what she meant.

“
I understand all of that, but how she gonna drop some shit like that on me, and then just up and leave. What part of the game was that?”

“
Trey, she just found out that she is pregnant.  She is scared.  Y’all haven't even been together for long and already she feels like she is alone.” Ny said.

“
I'ma talk to her, I promise.  I just need a day to get my head right.”

“
I'ma hold you to that.” Ny said before getting up and leaving the room.

Right before she walked out of the living room she turned around and said, “Just so you know, she coming to Florida with us, so get your head right asap.”

Diamond

When I woke up feeling nauseous I wasn't in the mood for anything but French toast.  I checked my phone, and I had a text from Ny that said we was going to Florida today and to be ready by six.  What surprised me though was a missed call from Trey.  The way I went off on him yesterday I was surprised that even called me.  But then again, I am pregnant with his child, so I guess him calling wasn't too surprising.

“
Hey, you called me,” I said to him when he picked up the phone.

“
Yea, I was calling to check up on you and to see if you wanted to go get breakfast.” he said.

“
I'm fine.  I feel a little sick, but other than that I'm cool.  You can come over for breakfast, I was gonna cook French toast.”

“
That sounds good, ma, I'll be there in like an hour.” he said and hung up.

I hung up and we
nt into the bathroom to take a quick shower.  I had to get my mind right before Trey got here.  I wanted him to be there like he said he would.  We haven't even really gotten serious, and I was already pregnant.  Regardless if Trey was going to step up or not, I was going to have this baby.  I got out of the shower and threw on some pajamas and went into the kitchen to start cooking.  I was done cooking when Trey texted me telling me to unlock the door because he was five minutes away.

“
Hey, ma, it smells good in here.  How you feeling?” he asked kissing me on the cheek.

“
Thanks, I was craving French toast, so that’s what I made.  And I'm feeling okay, kind of tired, but I'm good.” I told him while I placed our plates on the table.

“
That’s good.” he said digging into his food.

I guess we was in an awkward space because of what happened yesterday.  The whole time that we was eating neither one of us really said anything to each other.  We kept stealing glances at each other when we thought the other person was
n't looking.  When we finished eating Trey told me to go lay down while he cleaned up.  He didn't have to tell me twice cause I was beyond tired.  I was just drifting off to sleep when Trey came in my room.

“
Ma, did you pack your stuff for the trip?” he asked getting in the bed with me.

“
No, not yet.  Ny text me this morning telling me to be ready by six, so I still got time.” I told him snuggling up on his chest.

“
Ight, don't make me have to fuck a nigga up.”

“
I ain't thinking about no nigga, shit, I ain't even thinking about your ass.”

“
Yea, whatever ma, but forreal though, are you going to keep my baby?” he asked while he rubbed my stomach.

“
Trey, I'm keeping this baby.  What happened between us was fun, but if you’re not ready for this, then you have to let me know now, so I prepare myself to do this alone.” I told him with tears in my eyes.

“
Diamond, stop crying.  I told you I was gonna be here for you when we first made this official.  Just because I haven't talked to you in three days doesn't mean that I just wanted to hit it and quit it.  We slept together over a month ago, and up until recently I was there.  I just been going through some shit, but that doesn't mean that I had the right to neglect you.  I promise from here on out I'ma be there when you need me.  Just call, and I'll be there.” he started singing in my ear.

“
Trey, stop playing.  I don't need you to be there for me, I just need you to be there for this baby.” I told him knowing damn well I was lying.

I wanted Trey to be there for the both
of us.

“
Nah, ma, you’re mine, and I go hard for mines. Now, come on, so we can get some sleep before we have to go.” he said.

Everything Trey was saying sounded good, but he had to stop saying it and start showing it.  For the sake of the baby I was going
to try and make this work.  Just one day at a time, I kept telling myself, just one day at a time.

Nylah

I couldn't wait to get my ass in Miami so that I could lay out on the beach.  Nick left out after breakfast cause he said he had some stuff to do.  I
sent Diamond a text letting her know to be ready by six, so we could catch our flight.  With everything that happened yesterday, she needed to get away.  I hoped that Trey could get his shit together cause I really didn't want to fuck Trey up.  Damn, Diamond was really pregnant.

I hoped Nick wasn't trying to get any ideas cause a baby was not in my plans right now.  I felt like I was falling in love with Nick, but how do you really know when you are in love?  I wasn't going to stress the issue; I was just
gonna go with the flow.  I started packing my stuff and getting ready to get dressed when I heard my phone ring; I looked at the screen and it was Elle.

“
Hey, Elle, wassup?”

“
Nothing, just wanted to know if you wanted to go out for drinks later on tonight.”

“
I'm not even gonna be here.  I'm going to Miami tonight.” I told her a little hesitant.

I didn't want her to feel left out because I never even asked her to come along.

“Oh, really?  How long are you staying out there for?” she asked.

“
Only for like a week, it’s nothing major.  Nick has some business he has to handle, and I said I would come along just as a little vacay.”

“
Oh okay, well, have fun and hit me up when you come home,” she said and hung up.

Something about that whole situation just didn't fee
l right.  I needed to keep an eye on her cause my gut was telling me that she was up to something.  But the fact that she was my best friend was the reason that I put the ill feelings I had to the side.  I really didn't wanna think that Elle was living foul, so I pushed the thought to the back of my mind and continued to get ready.  I was putting my stuff in the car when Nick, Trey, and Diamond pulled up.

Hey ma” Nick said kissing my cheek and taking my bags from me.

“
Hey daddy,” I said and winked at him.

“
Wassup Ny,” Trey said trying to give me a hug.

“
Nigga, I don't want your hug.” I told him pushing him away.

“
Ny, what did I do to you?”

“
It’s not what you did to me, it’s what you did to someone I care about.” I told him.

“
Ny, chill me and Diamond already talked.  Everything is cool, so be easy, ma.” he said.

“
Yea, ight, that’s what your mouth says.  Don't make me fuck you up, Trey.”

“
Diamond, tell your girl we cool.” Trey said looking at Diamond.

“
Ny, he cool for right now, but his ass better not disappear for another three days or that's his ass.” Diamond said as she went in the house.

“
I'm not about to sit here and get tag teamed.  Nick, you ain't gonna say shit, my nigga?” Trey asked.

“
Nah, bruh, you’er on your own with this one.” Nick said laughing.

“
Man, whatever, you just don't wanna piss Ny off, but it’s cool though.”

“
Come on y’all, let’s go in the house.  I have something to talk to y’all about.” Nick said.

We all sat in the living room wondering what the hell was going on.  I'm pretty sure that Tr
ey knew what was going on, but me and Diamond was clueless.

“
Y’all already know why we are going to Miami; me and Trey have to link up with the our connect to clear up what has been going on so far.  Now, she has been cool and understanding about everything, so we shouldn't have a problem.  On top of that, we found out who has been hitting our spots.” Nick said.

“
Okay, but what does this have to do with us?  Diamond and I just wanna chill on the beach and shop.” I said.

I really didn't need to know too muc
h about their business, especially when it had to do with their connect.

“
It has to do with you because our connect wants to meet you.  I'm not sure why, but she asked me to bring you with me.  As far as who is hitting our spots, it has to do with you because you know the person who is doing the shit.” Nick said.
