Sighing heavily and doing the only thing that was left, I walked into the bedroom and found Ellie sitting on the floor, playing with the puppy. Georgia's nub of a tail was wagging ninety miles per hour as she and Ellie played tug-of-war with a sock. I was standing in front of them, arms crossed in front of my chest. I thought I needed to get Ellie's vision checked. That was the only thing I was certain of at that moment. That and the fact that I was still feeling like an idiot.

“Would you look at the fucking collar, Ellie?” I was exasperated, my dreams of the perfect proposal was squashed because I'd brought home a dog whose cuteness well surpassed the appeal of the shiny engagement ring.

Ellie looked up at me with annoyance. “What crawled up your ass?” she huffed out.

This was not how this was supposed to go. What crawled up my ass? This was not supposed to be a thought that was crossing her mind right now. She should have been crying and smiling and begging for me to fuck her all over our bed after she threw herself in my arms screaming, “Yes! Yes! I will marry you!”

Screw this. I was throwing in the towel; this obviously wasn't the perfect moment to propose to my girlfriend. I stalked into the bathroom and used the sink to splash cold water on my face. I placed my elbows on the sink, my head in my hands. My heart was racing, the nerves of the entire proposal fiasco had worn me down. And I'm not going to lie, I was disappointed. Oh well, I'd come up with something.

Maybe I should have just hung the ring from my dick…

I lifted my head to the sound of Ellie clearing her throat behind me. I locked eyes with her in the bathroom mirror. She had the ring in her hand, and tears were streaming down her cheeks, the most beautiful, breathtaking smile on her face. She'd never looked more perfect than in that moment. I turned around so I was facing her, continuing to drink her in with my gaze.

“Now what do you think about Georgia's collar?” My lips smiled down at her as I stepped closer to Ellie, our chests mere inches away from each other.

“Are you… Is this… Wha… Oh my god!” She was stuttering and had apparently lost the ability to form coherent sentences. YES! Finally the reaction I'd been looking for!

“Ellie, I have something I want to ask you.” I got down on one knee and pulled Ellie's hand into mine, grasping the ring between both of our palms. “I love you. I love you so much, and I want to be with you for the rest of my life. I want your laugh, your smile, all of you. Everything, with me…forever. Will you marry me?” I lifted my hand and removed the ring from her grasp, holding it out, waiting for her response. More tears streamed down her face, and she blinked her eyes shut for a moment, inhaling a shaking breath.

Ellie opened her eyes slowly and pierced me with the most intense, passionate look. She nodded her head yes as a smile hinted at her lips.

Before I was able to slide the ring on Ellie's finger, she tackled me to the bathroom floor, laughing and smiling and raining kisses all over my face. I wrapped my arms around her, holding her tightly to my chest, nuzzling my face into her strawberry-scented hair.

“I love you so much, Trent,” she whispered into my ear.

“I love you too, baby, but I think we need to get your vision checked.”

She smacked my chest and started giggling. “You asshole! How was I supposed to know you tied an engagement ring to that ridiculously adorable puppy!”

I crushed my lips to hers and my heart was ablaze. This girl had just made my life with a simple nod of her head. We continued to kiss and caress each other, enjoying the moment, savoring this memory. My mind was already letting my cock know it was high time we headed to the bed. Ellie had already promised me a lifetime of blow jobs, and I was ready to bury myself in her all night long.

I heard heavy panting and something drop to the bathroom tile beside my head. Ellie glanced up and anger crossed her face. I tilted my head to the side to try to figure out what had caused this sudden change in mood.

“That dog just destroyed my favorite pair of heels!” Ellie hopped off of me and proceeded to chase the puppy into the bedroom. Georgia was barking loudly, jumping up and down, thinking that Ellie was going to play with her again. I sat up and saw the battered shoe that was sitting beside me. It was one of the infamous fuck-me heels Ellie had worn in Nashville and on our first date.

Damn dog. I'd really loved those shoes…

The sound of Georgia getting up and trotting into the hallway pulls me from my reminiscent thoughts. She frequently wakes up in the middle of the night, too hot from Ellie's body heat, and finds a cool place to sleep in the kitchen. I throw on a pair of flannel pants and walk into the bathroom to finish getting ready for bed. I grab my toothbrush from the holder, and as I go to pick up the toothpaste, I'm stunned.

Shocked.

Speechless.

The word
pregnant
is staring back at me.

The word
pregnant
is front and center in the window of a pregnancy test. A pregnancy test that's sitting on my bathroom sink, our bathroom sink, my and Ellie's.
Ellie's pregnant?
I lift my eyes when I hear a throat clearing behind me. My eyes meet Ellie's in the mirror, and I'm smiling but still too stunned to form sentences, much less words.

I turn around, toothbrush still grasped in my hand, surprise etched all over my face.

“Wha… You're…What?”

Ellie's smile nearly knocks me on my ass.

“Trent, I'm pregnant.” She says the words slowly, giving my brain time to process this monumental bombshell.
Ellie's pregnant.
My Ellie's pregnant? Holy shit! Ellie's pregnant!

Dropping my toothbrush to the bathroom tile, I immediately grab her around the waist and clutch her against my bare chest, her soft breasts pressing into me. My lips tremble slightly as tears fill my eyes. I lift my hands, placing my palms on her cheeks, pulling her lips to mine, attempting to tell her how happy I am right now through physical affection. My mind is still unable to function, still unable to process coherent words.

“Dr. Hammer has superhero sperm.” Ellie giggles against my mouth, her breath warming my face. “Your superhero cock's superhero spunk somehow managed to surpass my birth control.”

A husky laugh vibrates my chest as a single tear slides down my cheek.

“I'm so happy, baby. So. Fucking. Happy.” In an instant, this girl has changed my life again.

She's turned my world upside down and given me the most precious gift I could ever ask for…

I'm going to be a father.

Sneak Peek for M. Mabie's book Fade In

Coming Soon in 2014

Please enjoy this sneak peak of
Fade In
, a contemporary-comedy romance

from debuting author M. Mabie.

Tatum Elliot is a successful writer on a hit television show. She lives in an Upper East Side apartment and loves her life. She wouldn't change a thing. Unfortunately, she doesn't have a choice.

As Tatum trips over her tongue and her four-inch heels, she all too quickly realizes that the things that appeared so important are slowly slipping out of sight. With the support of her best friends, family and colleagues, she begins to see that there's much more to life… and herself.

When Ben Harris enters her life as her new personal assistant, she can't tell if it's his good looks and charm that are working on her libido, or his kind and helpful nature working on her heart? Whatever it is, neither one of them can resist it.

As her vision fades out, a world of love and happiness just might…Fade In.

Fade In
is a contemporary-comedy romance about laughing through tears and telling life to, quite frankly, “Suck it.” This novel is vulgar and contains wickedly, sexual situations that the author may or may not have tried at home… for your safety, of course. Research is research.

M. Mabie lives in Illinois, NOT Chicago, with her husband. She loves writing for Fifty5Cent Book Blog, which she owns and operates, usually poorly. She cares about politics, but won't discuss them in public. She uses the same fork at every meal, watches Wayne's World while cleaning, and lets her dog sleep on her head. M. Mabie has never been accused of being tight lipped or shy. She's THAT girl.

And now
… Fade In
- Chapter 1: Masturbating Makes You Go Blind

Masturbating Makes You Go Blind

“Date of birth?”

“Are you fucking kidding me, Charlotte? You know my date of birth. You just told me happy birthday when I walked in! I know you have to ask, but do you really have to ask? I've been coming here since I was fourteen. It's a little redundant. Don't you think?”
