Pechor was at a loss.
What was happening? He should be invincible.
He tried to flee but the containment of the Lumen Mage was too strong.

Shane saw the Allyant begin to weaken as he used up the last of the stored power and fuel in the space craft that was impossibly far away.  “Ok Ari
, do what you have to do.”

Like a combination of both shadow and lightning Ari penetrated the golden cocoon and
severed the Allyant in half.  Instead of the body coming apart it burst in to flames and after a moment became nothing.

Shane held the shield a few moments longer checking for residue then he let it go.

Shane and Ari paused looking at each other, finally Shane nodded and they patted each other on their backs.  Sword sheathed Ari returned to his seat.

Turning to the Crowd he smiled.
“Never a dull moment around the Chason family,” Shane smiled with a wink to Ava he said, “Any second thoughts?”

Ahhan if you would please continue.”

The Ceremony that officially made Shane the Last Singer was short and magically simple. The pathway making him the Dernier Chanson was a simple matter of him swearing to protect Eliom and teach and honor the Laws of Elios, after which he drank a magical goblet of water; the taste of which reminding him of spring.

The next was the sealing of the star seeds
.  The moment the seal glyphs were bonded the Arc glowed forming a rainbow in all directions and the Lumen that had been stored with in it for the event in which Eliom, would have its own heart was released. A voice rumbled like thunder and announced that the lumen contained herein is ever after the dowry of the star Kolaria to use or give as she chooses.  For a moment the Gryphon Kolaria glowed, a blinding white in the form of a women in front of the golden pyramid of the Arc, until she subdued it with her outer shield.  “Who was that,” she asked.

“That was my father Elios,” Kuo’irus smiled.  “It is his gift to you for choosing his adventurous son that was willing to take a risk and leave the security of Elios and expand light to another part of universe.  The stars of Elios are proud of both of us.”

Before Ahhan could continue Shane hasten to the side of Kuo’irus and said, “and to you my friend I return the remainder of your lumen that you generously gave to me that you may use it for the protecting of your family and the world of Eliom and how ever else you see fit.”  Shane held forth the bag that contained nearly a hundred thousand of the remaining small blue dots the gryphon nodded his thanks. Shane continued.  “One last item,” he smiled.  “This lovely very large blue carpet is also a glyph.  It took ten smaller glyphs of similar construction
made of my entire capacity to combine to make it so I hope you can absorb it all.  It’s only been used once and that was to protect a family of gryphons I know, but otherwise it’s in great shape.” Shane laughed and the crowd applauded.

The large gryphon touched the carpet with his talon and the carpe
t began to shrink and absorb into the multi colored creature.  Before the carpet was half gone the creature was brilliantly lit like his partner had been moments before, by the time the glyph was gone those watching from the heavens would have thought to have seen a beacon.  Eventually Kuo’irus contained the lumen and with a gracious bow looked Shane into the eyes and humbly and simply said,” Thank you, Singer I am honored by your gift.”

“Last but not least,” Ahhan added finally and with his infectious smile.  “We have some weddings to perform.  “First will be Ari Desmond and Leslie Coeur; it’s taken a while but they finally figured out what those years of feelings meant.  Next will be the lovely couple of Kuo’irus and Kolaria Eliom, who, in addition to their celestial ceremony, have also asked for a human wedding.  To wrap things up we will then be blessed to enjoy and witnessing the joining in matrimony the ever adventurous and unpredictable Ava Desmond and Shane Chason.  Will the couples please approach?”

The gryphons transformed into human form and the three couples dressed in the traditional lumen white
reverently approached Ahhan and the beautiful alter.  “Just remember men,” coached Ahhan with a conspiring grin, “you only have to remember two words. “I” and “do” don’t mess it up”

The End

Epilogue

Pechor had been severed from his last remaining host - he found himself sitting at the command chair of the starblade, weak, uncertain, and depressed. Staring at the depleted fuel indicators didn’t help matters.  The crystals, that had once of contained the lumen of millions was now diminished.  At the most he had enough lumen to survive for a few weeks.

His concentration was abruptly interrupted by
an alert emanating from the navigation system.

U
p until now the navigation system had been churning away working to discover his current location.  Glancing at the readout he couldn’t believe what he saw.  What luck - he was in civilized space - a known transition area used by non-potents that had learned the technology to travel the stars.

With his last lumen he activated a beacon that he hoped would be compatible with those that traveled through the area.
Then with regret at losing such a fine Elios descended body he created a lumen sphere and withdrew the last of the life force and lumen into the glowing red sphere that he hoped would soon find its way into the hands of an unsuspecting human.
