Romans 1:18-32

18
 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19
because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed
it
unto them.
20
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made,
even
his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21
because that, when they knew God, they glorified
him
not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23
and changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

24
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25
who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27
and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

28
And even as they did not like to retain God in
their
knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29
being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30
backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31
without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32
who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Psalm 10:1-15

1
Why standest thou afar off, O L
ORD
?
why
hidest thou
thyself
in times of trouble?

2
 The wicked in
his
pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.

3
For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous,
whom
the L
ORD
abhorreth.

4
The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek
after God:
God
is
not in all his thoughts.

5
His ways are always grievous; thy judgments
are
far above out of his sight:
as for
all his enemies, he puffeth at them.

6
He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for
I shall
never
be
in adversity.

7
His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue
is
mischief and vanity.

8
He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.

9
He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.

10
 He croucheth,
and
humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.

11
He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see
it.

12
 Arise, O L
ORD
; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.

13
Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require
it.

14
 Thou hast seen
it;
for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite
it
with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.

15
Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil
man:
seek out his wickedness
till
thou find none.

Proverbs 19:6-7

6
Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man
is
a friend to him that giveth gifts.

7
All the brethren of the poor do hate him: how much more do his friends go far from him? he pursueth
them with
words,
yet
they
are
wanting
to him.

1 Chronicles 16:37–18:17

37
So he [David] left there before the ark of the covenant of the L
ORD
Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day's work required:
38
and Obed-edom with their brethren, threescore and eight; Obed-edom also the son of Jeduthun and Hosah
to be
porters:
39
and Zadok the priest, and his brethren the priests, before the tabernacle of the L
ORD
in the high place that
was
at Gibeon,
40
to offer burnt offerings unto the L
ORD
upon the altar of the burnt offering continually morning and evening, and
to do
according to all that is written in the law of the L
ORD
, which he commanded Israel;
41
and with them Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest that were chosen, who were expressed by name, to give thanks to the L
ORD
, because his mercy
endureth
for ever;
42
and with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun
were
porters.

43
And all the people departed every man to his house: and David returned to bless his house.

17:
1
Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the L
ORD
remaineth
under curtains.

2
Then Nathan said unto David, Do all that
is
in thine heart; for God
is
with thee.

3
And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
4
Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the L
ORD
, Thou shalt not build me an house to dwell in:
5
for I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from
one
tabernacle
to another.
6
Wheresoever I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an house of cedars?
7
Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the L
ORD
of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote,
even
from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler over my people Israel:
8
and I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that
are
in the earth.
9
Also I will ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning,
10
and since the time that I commanded judges
to be
over my people Israel. Moreover I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the L
ORD
will build thee an house.
11
And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go
to be
with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.
12
He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever.
13
I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took
it
from
him
that was before thee:
14
but I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore.

15
According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

16
And David the king came and sat before the L
ORD
, and said, Who
am
I, O L
ORD
God, and what
is
mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
17
 And
yet
this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast
also
spoken of thy servant's house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O L
ORD
God.
18
 What can David
speak
more to thee for the honour of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant.
19
 O L
ORD
, for thy servant's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in making known all
these
great things.
20
 O L
ORD
,
there is
none like thee, neither
is there any
God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
21
And what one nation in the earth
is
like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem
to be
his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?
22
For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, L
ORD
, becamest their God.

23
 Therefore now, L
ORD
, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.
24
Let it even be established, that thy name may be magnified for ever, saying, The L
ORD
of hosts
is
the God of Israel,
even
a God to Israel: and
let
the house of David thy servant
be
established before thee.
25
For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found
in his heart
to pray before thee.
26
 And now, L
ORD
, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:
27
now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O L
ORD
, and
it shall be
blessed for ever.

18:
1
Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.
2
And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants,
and
brought gifts.

3
And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates.
4
And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot
horses,
but reserved of them an hundred chariots.

5
And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
6
 Then David put
garrisons
in Syria-damascus; and the Syrians became David's servants,
and
brought gifts. Thus the L
ORD
preserved David whithersoever he went.
7
And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
8
Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

9
 Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;
10
he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and
with him
all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.
11
Them also king David dedicated unto the L
ORD
, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all
these
nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

12
Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.
13
And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David's servants. Thus the L
ORD
preserved David whithersoever he went.

14
So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.
15
And Joab the son of Zeruiah
was
over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder.
16
And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar,
were
the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;
17
and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada
was
over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David
were
chief about the king.
