Romans 13:1-14

1
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
2
Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
3
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
4
for he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to
execute
wrath upon him that doeth evil.
5
 Wherefore
ye
must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

6
For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
7
Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute
is due;
custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

8
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
9
For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if
there be
any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
10
Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love
is
the fulfilling of the law.

11
And that, knowing the time, that now
it is
high time to awake out of sleep: for now
is
our salvation nearer than when we believed.
12
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
13
Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to
fulfil
the lusts
thereof.

Psalm 23:1-6

A Psalm of David.

1
 The L
ORD
is
my shepherd; I shall not want.

2
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou
art
with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the L
ORD
for ever.

Proverbs 20:11

11
Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work
be
pure, and whether
it be
right.

2 Chronicles 29:1-36

1
 Hezekiah began to reign
when he was
five and twenty years old, and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name
was
Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.
2
 And he did
that which was
right in the sight of the L
ORD
, according to all that David his father had done.

3
He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the L
ORD
, and repaired them.
4
And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street,
5
and said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the L
ORD
God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy
place.
6
For our fathers have trespassed, and done
that which was
evil in the eyes of the L
ORD
our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the L
ORD
, and turned
their
backs.
7
Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy
place
unto the God of Israel.
8
Wherefore the wrath of the L
ORD
was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to trouble, to astonishment, and to hissing, as ye see with your eyes.
9
For, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives
are
in captivity for this.

10
 Now
it is
in mine heart to make a covenant with the L
ORD
God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.
11
My sons, be not now negligent: for the L
ORD
hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.

12
Then the Levites arose, Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites: and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehalelel: and of the Gershonites; Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah:
13
and of the sons of Elizaphan; Shimri, and Jeiel: and of the sons of Asaph; Zechariah, and Mattaniah:
14
and of the sons of Heman; Jehiel, and Shimei: and of the sons of Jeduthun; Shemaiah, and Uzziel.

15
And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and came, according to the commandment of the king, by the words of the L
ORD
, to cleanse the house of the L
ORD
.
16
And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the L
ORD
, to cleanse
it,
and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the L
ORD
into the court of the house of the L
ORD
. And the Levites took
it,
to carry
it
out abroad into the brook Kidron.

17
Now they began on the first
day
of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the L
ORD
: so they sanctified the house of the L
ORD
in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.

18
Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, We have cleansed all the house of the L
ORD
, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof.
19
Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they
are
before the altar of the L
ORD
.

20
Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the L
ORD
.
21
And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer
them
on the altar of the L
ORD
.
22
So they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled
it
on the altar: likewise, when they had killed the rams, they sprinkled the blood upon the altar: they killed also the lambs, and they sprinkled the blood upon the altar.
23
And they brought forth the he goats
for
the sin offering before the king and the congregation; and they laid their hands upon them:
24
and the priests killed them, and they made reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded
that
the burnt offering and the sin offering
should be made
for all Israel.

25
And he set the Levites in the house of the L
ORD
with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: for
so was
the commandment of the L
ORD
by his prophets.
26
And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.
27
And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the L
ORD
began
also
with the trumpets, and with the instruments
ordained
by David king of Israel.
28
And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded:
and
all
this continued
until the burnt offering was finished.
29
And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped.
30
Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the L
ORD
with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.

31
Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto the L
ORD
, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the L
ORD
. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings.
32
And the number of the burnt offerings, which the congregation brought, was threescore and ten bullocks, an hundred rams,
and
two hundred lambs: all these
were
for a burnt offering to the L
ORD
.
33
 And the consecrated things
were
six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.
34
But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the
other
priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites
were
more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.
35
 And also the burnt offerings
were
in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for
every
burnt offering. So the service of the house of the L
ORD
was set in order.
36
And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people: for the thing was
done
suddenly.

Romans 14:1-23

1
Him that is weak in the faith receive ye,
but
not to doubtful disputations.
2
For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
3
Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
4
Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

5
One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day
alike.
Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
6
He that regardeth the day, regardeth
it
unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard
it.
He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
7
For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
8
For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
9
For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

10
But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
11
 For it is written,
As
I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12
So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
13
Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in
his
brother's way.

14
I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that
there is
nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him
it is
unclean.
15
But if thy brother be grieved with
thy
meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.
16
Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
17
for the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
18
For he that in these things serveth Christ
is
acceptable to God, and approved of men.
19
Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

20
For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed
are
pure; but
it is
evil for that man who eateth with offence.
21

It is
good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor
any thing
whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.
22
 Hast thou faith? have
it
to thyself before God. Happy
is
he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
23
And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because
he eateth
not of faith: for whatsoever
is
not of faith is sin.
