1 Corinthians 1:1-17

1
 Paul, called
to be
an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes
our
brother,
2
unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called
to be
saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
3
 grace
be
unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and
from
the Lord Jesus Christ.

4
 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
5
that in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and
in
all knowledge;
6
even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
7
so that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
8
who shall also confirm you unto the end,
that ye may be
blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9
 God
is
faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

10
Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and
that
there be no divisions among you; but
that
ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
11
For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them
which are of the house
of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
12
Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

13
Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
14
 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
15
lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name.
16
And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
17
For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

Psalm 27:1-6

A Psalm
of David.

1
 The L
ORD
is
my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the L
ORD
is
the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

2
 When the wicked,
even
mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

3
Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this
will
I
be
confident.

4
 One
thing
have I desired of the L
ORD
, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the L
ORD
all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the L
ORD
, and to inquire in his temple.

5
For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

6
And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the L
ORD
.

Proverbs 20:20-21

20
Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

21
 An inheritance
may be
gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.

Ezra 1:1–2:70

1
Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the L
ORD
by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the L
ORD
stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and
put it
also in writing, saying,
2
Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The L
ORD
God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which
is
in Judah.
3
 Who
is there
among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which
is
in Judah, and build the house of the L
ORD
God of Israel, (he
is
the God,) which
is
in Jerusalem.
4
And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that
is
in Jerusalem.

5
Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all
them
whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the L
ORD
which
is
in Jerusalem.
6
 And all they that
were
about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all
that
was willingly offered.

7
Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the L
ORD
, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods;
8
even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.
9
 And this
is
the number of them: thirty chargers of gold, a thousand chargers of silver, nine and twenty knives,
10
thirty basins of gold, silver basins of a second
sort
four hundred and ten,
and
other vessels a thousand.
11
All the vessels of gold and of silver
were
five thousand and four hundred. All
these
did Sheshbazzar bring up with
them of
the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.

2:
1
 Now these

59
 And these
were
they which went up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsa, Cherub, Addan,
